Zaytinya New York Reviews from The Last Year
Beautiful restaurant inside a Ritz Carleton hotel.
Ambiance was nice but very very loud. Had high hopes for the food, but was quite disappointed, which was surprising. Our group tried the hummus, Taziki, falafel, french fries, chicken shish taok , and tabouli salad. All were average at best. The hummus was actually quite good. Probably the best thing that we tried. The chicken was very disappointing. It was three tiny little pieces of chicken with some vegetables. We actually asked the server and another person who was perhaps the manager about the size of the portion and they told us that 4 ounces is what it is supposed to be. Really disappointing.

Food, drinks, service, and ambiance 10/10 I highly recommend trying zaytinya out if you're in this area!

I been to other Jose Andres restaurants and was excited to try this one. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. I sat at the bar and had the tasting experience. The entree dishes of the lamb, falafel, and chicken were the biggest disappointments. Lamb was bland and overcooked. Falafel was extremely dry, so was the chicken. The bartender did know of my disappointment with the lamb and ordered the eggplant dish for me (at no charge). The eggplant was so delish. On the other hand, my favorite dishes were the shrimp, mushrooms, and red peppers with feta. The ambiance is chic. All bartenders were great. And though I won't visit again, I did enjoy the experience (overall).
Very good place for Mediterranean food.
We showed up before the conventional lunchtime in a Wednesday. We didn't have reservations but based on the hostess question is seemed that would be recommended. We were seated right away. We ordered the 3 course lunchtime special. This included several choices for Each course. Food was very good and service was excellent. Highly recommend.
Just not good overall.
Service was mediocre, food was mediocre, was rushed and expensive for what you get. Would not recommend, believe the only people who come here must be hotel guests or those who want to say they dined in the Ritz restaurant.
Amazing experience! The food was delicious, the service was
Amazing experience! The food was delicious, the service was warm and not rushed (even though the restaurant was very busy), and overall ambience was great! Would highly recommend! Also, I booked a table through Capital One Dining and at the restaurant they gave me a signed copy of the Zaytinya cookbook, which was so unexpected and a nice surprise!
Food and drink were really good.
The decor and setting in this place is really cool, great ambiance and service was on point. I would definitely give this place a try if you want to dip your toe into Mediterranean cuisine.
Everything I ordered was so divine.
An incredibly interesting wine selection. I buy myself in thoroughly enjoyed every bite. I have high standards when it comes to Mediterranean food. This place did not disappoint. I can't wait to return back to New York and eat here again.

Ok, last minute bite before heading to the airport so we jumped into Zaytinya, the Jose Andres restaurant at the Ritz. Ok, you New Yorkers are going to hate me for saying this, but the everything bagel with cream cheese, olive oil, dill, capers, onion and tomato will blow you away. Best I believe I have ever had. Love the olive oil as it smooths out the flavors. Amazing!
All the food was very nicely priced for the quality.
We got the Baba Ganoush, Brussels Sprouts (best dish), Mushrooms, Scallops (a bit underwhelming), and one of the Kebabs. The server was very kind and attentive, but a bit quiet. The restaurant was gorgeous and very pleasant to dine in, the only critique would be the singular bathroom available to customers. We would certainly go again!
GF diners bring your own crudite
Normally Jose Andres restaurants are very hospitable to gluten free diners, so I was shocked by my experience tonight. Three spreads and bread were delivered to our table. I sat for 20-30 minutes staring at the spreads, waiting for a vegetable tray so that I could enjoy them. (I had explained to the waiter when ordering that I couldn’t eat bread because of celiac and requested carrots and cucumbers). But they were only brought after multiple attempts to get the waiters attention. After I requested to speak to a manager, one apologized and comped me 15% off of the bill. There are many great restaurants in DC and I certainly won’t be wasting my time with such a poorly run, GF-hostile one again.
Delicious middle-eastern food, everything was good.
We ordered the whole sea-bass as well as the lamb, both very good.
Zaytinya offers exquisite Mediterranean and Lebanese
Zaytinya offers exquisite Mediterranean and Lebanese cuisine with standout dishes like Lamb Kebabs and Hummus. The service is impeccable, with knowledgeable staff providing excellent recommendations. The chic, modern ambience with a vibrant atmosphere enhances the dining experience. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and flavors justify the cost. Perfect for a special night out or a refined culinary adventure.
We were a group of 10 and went here for a lunch on Sunday.
The aesthetics of the place were really chic and loved the vibe. We started off with hummus, labneh and some really hot bread - amazing! Then we ordered a few mains - the food was pretty good and no complaints at all - 1 thing that was disappointing and the reason I am giving a 3 was our server - he was not very easy to talk to, I felt he seemed a bit frustrated when asked for more questions or made any requests - perhaps a little bit more patience from his side would have been appreciated.
Delicious veggies, ok proteins and service
Beautiful location close to the sites. The hummus and fattoush were absoutely delicious. The octopus and beef kefte were just fine. Wait staff was great to start but took >45 minutes to bring us our check, even after we had to ask the manager because we had after dinner plans. Worth a visit but make sure you aren't going anywhere afterwards!

Used to love this place and didn't believe some of the recent reviews on open table etc so went back. Saw our waiter once, apps and mains came at the same time and portions were small and the food was all cold. Sad as used to be a go to spot. Wouldn't and won't recommend any more. Certainly not what you'd expect for the price. Disappointing.
The service and ambiance of this place are both amazing.
Our waiter was so attentive and friendly throughout our lunch. But i took away a star because i was not a fan of the food. The falafel was mediocre & served with a salad I did not like. I also didn't care for the hummus or the pita. My friends liked the salads though so maybe go with that option. The drinks were also really good!
Fabulous food!
Love Jose Andreas’ restaurants and our 1st time to Zaytina was no different! Service was excellent and restaurant was very busy! Wonderful selection of dishes including cheeses, salads, veggie mezze & meat dishes. We had seared haloumi, beet salad, an eggplant dish, scallops & branzino - all delicious. Five dishes for the 2 of us was perfect. Food came out quickly & they paced the dishes well. Highly recommend
Can't Go Wrong with Zaytinya!
Zaytinya is the perfect spot for sampling and sharing a variety of small plates for the table. Everything is fresh and delicious and packed with Mediterranean flavor.
The food was okay to be honest.
More on the below average side. The vibe is really nice and staff were great but food was not my favorite.
I came here as part of a business dinner.
There was lots of things to love about this place: a. Every piece of food was bursting with flavor from the scallops to the lamb and the hummus. Basically, barring allergies, you could not go wrong. b. It was a lively atmosphere c. Great wine selection and terrific recommendations d. The service was delightful, I felt like I was with neighbors What was kind of umm funky about this place? a. The furniture - the table real estate size made me feel like a giant. b. The serving sizes. Even by European standards, they were small. c. It was a Thursday night, and it was super super noisy, and crowded. GOing to the bathroom was a production. What is this place good for: - Co-workers - Date night with the significant other - An outing for people who really really like small serving sizes - Jose Andres fans - Greek food lovers - Taking your parents out What is this place not so great for - First dates (its kind of loud and its an operation to go to the bathroom) - Break ups - difficult exit strategy - People who like normal sized furniture - Kids
Disappointing Lebanese/Mediterranean food.
I had seen this restaurant on GMA with the owner who does great work with a large world food bank, so was looking forward to eating there. Not good. We ordered multiple appetizers to share. The grape leaves and Taziki were terrible. The hummus was ok. We ordered a flatbread that was not tasty. The felafel was mediocre. I don’t think I loved anything. Total bummer!! And I typically love Lebanese/ Mediterranean food. Cute atmo but the bathrooms didn’t match the look at all. Not worth it.

I'm from Dubai and I know Arabic food by heart yet this was the best! I can easily recommend this place
Surprised to see Zaytinya buzzing on Monday night.
The place was full at 730 and noticeably loud. Both servers and expediters were hustling to crank out hot pita as well as drinks and meze orders. Everything Zaytinya is small plates for the exception of a few sharing platters in the back of the menu. Knowing we wanted variety of grilled meats the $72 platter was a good call. You get a good assortment of kebabs with aforementioned hot pita with ample bowls of toum , roast pepper paste, and raw onions in sumac. We made wraps which we quite enjoyed with some fatoush salad and taramasalata to start. We left comfortably full. Food expediting could have been more efficient but hot pita makes up for the wait. Sad to see kibbeh has been removed from the menu. PS all Jose Andre's restaurants participate InKind app which frequently runs promos which you can use at any participating restaurant.
It's my third time to this restaurant and it's
It's my third time to this restaurant and it's unfortunately gotten progressively worse (it used to be one of our favorites). The food has become bland and the service is extremely slow. Took more than an hour for the appetizer and main course. We left before the 3rd course because of how long the lunch was taking. The manager is just walking around the restaurant glued to his cell phone.
Loud, Crowded and just OK
I really don’t understand the over the top reviews for this place. Zaytinya is nothing that special. The food is good but very comparable to many other restaurants in DC. The atmosphere is very loud - hard to have a conversation. Tables are close together with the waitstaff running back and forth banging into your chair. Doesn’t make for a pleasant evening. Also, the place could use a refresh the walls and tables/chairs are all banged up and showing the wear. If you are trying to decide between Zaytinya and another place, go to the other place.
I Can Hardly Wait To Go Back!!
I have been trying to get my wife to visit DC for nearly 20 years! Zaytinyas is one of the reasons she wants to return again - SOON! This was some of the best Middle Eastern food we've ever had... and I, in particular, am passionate for hummus and taboulleh and falafel and stuffed grape leaves and, well, almost anything Mediterranean! The restaurant was clean and chic and had a great vibe... twenty minutes after opening and the place was full - so my wife and i suspected we were in for a treat... were we ever!! The food was incredibly fresh and had an outstanding taste. The hummus was VERY creamy. The taboulleh tasted like it had been made fresh, just for the two of us! The grape leaves were divine! My wife can't stop talking about the falafel.... OH, THAT FALAFEL!! And the fatoosh salad was seasoned to perfection!! I am returning to DC next Saturday for a conference. I told a couple of my fellow attendees about Zaytinyas... and they have asked me to take them. They did NOT have to twist my arm...!!! lolol. I'll be in town for a week and suspect I'll eat here twice b4 running up to Baltimore to visit friends. I know this may sound like an exaggeration but i assure you its not: I can barely stand the anticipation... I'm THAT excited! My wife is jealous that I get to go back without her... c'est la vie, mon cherie!! Oh, and I found the prices to be quite reasonable for DC - not inexpensive but certainly not unreasonable. Last comment: my wife ordered the Zaytinya cookbook the morning after we dined there and it was waiting for us when we returned home. So our love affair with Zaytinya is just beginning...!
Perfectly Delicious!
Our son, my husband and I chose the Chef’s Tasting Menu and had an excellent meal! We began with a Tito’s Martini and stayed with water for the rest of the meal. Each dish was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Service was timed as we finished one course the next was delivered. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu while being personable and funny. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for its food, service, and ambience.
Fabulous Meal, Great Service
My family had an amazing meal at Zaytinya. We did have to wait for a minute or two for our table to be ready (we made reservations two weeks in advance), and the restaurant was packed, but once we were seated the service was great, and the food was just phenomenal. Definitely a loud, high-energy atmosphere, or at least that was how it was in the area of the restaurant where we were seated, but that did not detract from the quality of the experience.
Terrific
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Great food, great service, great vibe. Will come back when next in DC, for sure.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
