Just revisited Zitz Sum again after being in the area.
All of the staff members including the GM Diana were hospitable, kind and incredibly professional. When we arrived, we were greeted by multiple members of the staff and promptly seated. Within 30 seconds of sitting down, we were offered either sparkling or still water, which was a nice touch. Our server quickly came over and spoke to us about the restaurant and the menu and highlighted some of the new items for March. After that chef Pablo came out of the kitchen himself and welcomed us to the restaurant and told us the dishes. He was really excited about. One member of our party has dietary restrictions, and therefore cannot participate in the tasting menu, but everyone else was able to participate. That guest shared her dietary restrictions with the server, and the server took her time to curate an amazing meal for that guest. For the rest of us, we were delighted as we received 2 to 3 items from each section of the menu making it a true tasting menu! We even had some secret special items not listed on the menu included since we were having the tasting menu.Throughout the entire night, multiple servers and multiple members of the staff stopped by our table to refresh our utensils, offer, more water, see how we were liking the meal and more. Chef Pablo came out of the kitchen once again, and started talking to us about some of the items that we had And how he and the members of his team created those dishesWe started with a delicious uni chawamushi alongside delicious starters and dim sum. I've always been nervous to eat scallop because of some bad experiences in the past, but the grilled scallop dish here was unlike anything I've ever eaten in the most amazing way.The mains were the star of the show with a delicious charred cabbage, spicy blue crab noodle and off menu char sui pork chop. Again, I'm nervous to order pork at restaurants because it's usually dry, but this was a revelation! I could not believe how flavorful and delicious it was. Actually scratch that, I could believe it because every single dish we had was out of this world. The night ended with both of the desserts on the menu, including the Hong Kong French toast, which might be my favorite dessert ever.Zitz Sum is an experience not to be missed, and no matter where you are in Miami you must go.Thank you Chef Pablo for the amazing hospitality and all of your staff for creating a memorable and amazing night.

Had such an incredible, special & romantic experience here last night! My boyfriend & I wanted to go out to dinner to a place neither of us had been to. Although Zitz Sum is only a few blocks away from my home & I had heard marvelous things about it, I had not yet paid a visit. Tonite was the nite! As I looked at the address on Alhambra I couldn't help but bd confused... How had I missed it? Come to realize it's tucked away in a little corner on the inside of the bank building on the corner of LeJeune & Alhambra. As soon as you walk in, you are transported to another place: the rich umami scent filled the air & although it was still daylight outside, the dim lights, curtained doors & windows lent the tiny space an exotic & intimate vibe. Our waitress, Winter, was wonderful as she explained everything about the menu including how if changes up constantly. It all looked so good, we decided to dive in head first with Winter's welcome guidance:-SALAD (Cucumber, Straciatella, Lao Gan Ma, Radish & Herbs) This was so delicious, so fresh, so bright! & the textures! Jumped right out at you. Beautiful first dish. -CRUDO (Yellowfin Tuna, Tonnato, White Soy, Cucumber, FL Tomatoes) Absolutely beautiful dish. Perfect flavours & the quality of the tuna was unparalleled. -GRILLED SCALLOP (Yuzu Kosho, Potato, Parmesan Sabayon, Chives) Very good although I'm not normally big on seafood + cheese together. This seemed like a take on "scalloped potatoes". Unexpectedly warm & comforting.-HAR GOW (Shrimp, Calabrian Chili Vin, Lime & Thai Basil) Spicy & pretty good but definitely my least favourite of the night.-WONTON IN BRODO (Chicken & Foie Gras, Wood Ear Mushroom, Parm & Soy Dashi.-CHARRED CABBAGE (Fresno Chili Vin, Grana Padano, & Ginger Scallion) Amazing! One of my favourites. The char was soooo good. Cabbage was full of flavour & very tender.-NIMAN RANCH RIBEYE (Shiitake and Black Pepper Borderlaise, Hakurei Turnip, Onion) I don't eat meat but my boyfriend said that while it was good, it was his least favourite dish. -CRAB NOODLES (Curry & Calabrian Chili Sauce, Lime & Thai Basil) Very good, spicy and the delicate crab added a lovely touch. Had such a wonderful evening here & can't wait to back to try more of the chef's outstanding creations!

Phenomenal and inexpensive compared to other restaurants in the area. Second time here and it was just as good.

Excellent food, service & ambience! A great addition to the Gables food scene. Creative menu and attentive servers.

So disappointing! The food was was totally underwhelming with the exception of the pork buns which were good. The ambience was good, by chic speakeasy style. The service way too in your face, first by insisting on calling us by our first names and then by inquiring every 15 minutes if we were happy. Totally underwhelming.

I went back to the place just the other day, and it was very nice and refreshing to see the chairs are more comfortable and you are now using cloth napkins, which gives the place a more upscale touch. Also, our helper Winter, was very accommodating and very professional. It was a very nice night that night ,I will be coming back.

I would like to update my review now that I've read the response from the business owner, if I could drop my score to 0 Or maybe negative 10 I would gladly do so, just because I find it so shameful that because of people that take pride in this type of misleading acts against clients and paying customers, end up training and creating more employees that adapt this behaviors and end up ruining a lot of peoples experience, money, and time. The best defense is attack, and If the business owner would have such pride, he wouldn't need to attempt to "justify" himself or any of his staff in this way, simply because the success and reviews would speak for themselves, just like I wasn't the only one complaining about the same things. After all, no one, especially people that can afford a dinner at this price, wouldn't just arrive to a place nevertheless for their extremely special occasion where they not only chose to invest their hard earned money, but also their time that they chose to spend at the restaurant, drive there back and fourth, and get ready for it, just to leave with a bad taste in their mouth, and have their special day ruined and time wasted, but sure, let's keep talking about what material your tables are made of, rather than how to treat your customers and maybe take some accountability, what a joke.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite new restaurants.
The experience is always wonderful, but definitely make a reservation. Every dish is an explosion of flavor, beautifully presented and eloquently executed. But I'm always left thinking about the bing, trying and failing to make it at home. My only wish was a few more selections of wine, but absolutely a stellar place!

Nestled in an office building in Coral Gables, and probably the only issue was trying to find the restaurant. Zitz Sum's creations were all a delight for the senses both visual, olfactory and taste. The night began wuth probably the best bread I have ever eaten anywhere in the world. The sourdough pancake was so good, we could have stopped there and there would have been no complaints. From there we had the tartare and crudo as appetizers which had such depth of flavor that we could not stop eating them. Next came the potstickers and wontons in brodo. Delicious! For the main course the grouper, Charred Cabbage and Wagyu Beef kept our taste buds dancing. We finished the evening with a lite palate cleansing sorbet with merengue. This restaurant is a must for anyone interested in eating well, but go early on in the week because aome plates were already sold out by Saturday night. Probably because they are so good.

Words literally cannot describe the outrageous food journey you take. An absolute gem!
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere and service is great.
The location is a little tough to find in an office building. My biggest issue is the food and cost. Miami isn't known for its Asian food and this places doesn't help. They seem most famous for their dumplings, they aren't anything special and at $18 a plate for 4-5 dumplings, very overpriced. If you are going on a date and you specifically want to eat Asian, this place would do in a pinch. For better food at 1/3 the price but with no atmosphere, go to bird road. You got two places near tropical park. Tropical and kon chau. Not cute but you'll enjoy your actual meal more.
Be the first to ReplyWow!! Zitz Sum is truly an amazing culinary experience.
A group of girl friends and I decided to come and see what it was about since it is Michelin recommended. I love Asian and Japanese food and the food here is like no otherr!!!!! 10/10 amazing Chef/Menu!!! Every bite was exquisite!! The service was amazing!!!! Each plate that was brought out was given a brief explanation; from where the fish was caught, even some interesting facts about the foods culture. I wish I can remember my waiters name right now because he was so cool and attentive. He was Dominican, I'm sorry I forgot your name right now. Blame it on the sake Lol. It is a small little hidden gem! We decided to sit outside which has a beautiful fountain and a nice view. He noticed us getting a little hot and he even brought out a fan for us FOR AN OUTSTANDING DINING EXPERIENCE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! + it is plenty of food you will leave satisfied. So worth it

The food was just average when not considering the price or quantity. After taking those into account it was very sub par. The about thyme and taxi driver drinks taste like they came from a mellaluca cleaning bottle. The wonton in brodo was just ok since the broth saved the bland dumplings. The har gow was good but not thrilling I suspect the spice level was to make up for flavor. The crab noodles were a small entree that had good flavor, but left you wanting something more. The service was very good, which one should expect for a mandatory 20% gratuity. Overall, the pretentious air and price of the place didn't live up to the hype of the other glowing reviews.

Delicious food and drinks, as well as truly having the kindest service. Steak tartare was incredible.
Be the first to ReplyLooking at all the appetizing photos on their Instagram
Looking at all the appetizing photos on their Instagram page it's impossible to not salivate and fight the urge to immediately want to go visit Zit Sum and order everything you see here. We decided to do the Omakase tasting menu , which is an 8 course meal of the chef's choice of the best things on the menu and some of the things were even on the regular menu. Highly recommend doing this is you are a first timer like me. Very well worth the $85 a person and you can also do it with a sake/wine pairing for an extra $35 a person. The place itself is a tiny whole in the wall inside a lobby of a hotel. It's a very simple place, not very fancy. Décor is simple and the food as well is pretty simple but high caliber execution. The sesame mochi balls are one of the more satisfying things you'll ever have the pleasure of biting into. I hadn't even gotten my main course yet and I was blown away just with the appetizers. First time in a while that a place hits the spot from start to finish. I was just wowed at all the flavor from every single dish we got. It truly rivals Michelin starred restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyI decided to try this place.
Overall the atmosphere was great, service was great and the food was tasty and well made. The bing bread was amazing. The dumplings were yummy. The bao bun- I've had better. The best was the pork ibérico (which was a meal not dim sum). So here's why it's 4/5 instead of 5. While the food was great, the dim sum was as not out of this world, meaning they were not any better than the dim sum I've had at a farmer market from my fav Mr Cs and their Bao buns were actually better. So in that sense I felt they were overpriced for what they were.
Be the first to ReplyI was lucky enough to enjoy the chefs take on SE asian food
I was lucky enough to enjoy the chefs take on SE asian food at his previous restaurant. Finally had the opportunity to hit up his own joint. Was right where he left off. Fucking awesome. You must suspend your idea of Asian food proper to fully appreciate what he is doing. The flavors are there, the technique is there, but so is his vision. The dumplings alone are worth the visit, but the rest of the menu also deserves attention. Finding the restaurant reminded me of a miami version of a hutong, sort of hidden in plain sight. The menu is tight and focused. As with a restaurant of this nature the menu can and will change. Im sure some signatures stay, but my review is more about giving in to the vision of the kitchen. Miami is lucky to have this place, honestly. Step out of your usual comfort zone and be rewarded with not only f bomb delicious food, but fun food. The drinks are great. No liquor but who cares? Great sake selection(nashville shout out!!) and beers. Both the appropriate accompaniments to the food you will be digging. Go there. You're welcome.
Be the first to ReplyThis has to be one of the best restaurants in Miami.
I've come to eat here twice and everything was amazing. The food, drinks, service, environment, everything. I think the last time we came we tried about almost everything on the menu and everything was absolutely amazing. I wish I would've taken pics but trust me this restaurant is worth trying 100%.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic experience.
The place is small inside, but the service and food are great. The Bing Bread, Wonton in Brodo, and Har Gow were all great. The Shrimp Curry Yakisoba had a strong lime flavor, but was still tasty.
Be the first to ReplyHad a tremendous experience sitting at the bar tonight.
The team is extremely welcoming and the food is excellent. If you're in Miami, you should head out here. Also, since my email bounced back from the general email inbox, the answer to a discussion held at the bar tonight is... unsalted butter. Nothing fancy. It probably was being held at the right temperature and therefore seemed more than it was. We all have a velveeta story. Thanks again for a great evening.
Be the first to ReplyContemporary Asian.
Hybrid of dim sum and izayaka unlike no other. In the heart of coral gables, this is the place to go. They only served sake based drinks and have their own twist to a piña colada that's very refreshing. Loved the steak tartare and the potsticker were my favorite of the dim sum
Be the first to ReplyEverything I tried at this place was delicious and tasted
Everything I tried at this place was delicious and tasted fresh. I ordered:- 'Bout Thyme cocktail (soooo yummy! Loved this unique flavor)- Bing Bread (amazing. Warm fluffy pita-like bread with a delicious honey miso butter)- Pork Potstickers (so tasty)- wonton in brodo (average)- Hong Kong Style French Toast (flakey, peanut butter goodness - similar to an elephant ear flavor?)The service was excellent also, my server was super nice and gave great recommendations. My only suggestions are that this place is hard to find, I would suggest adding more signage to show where the restaurant is. Also, I think expanding the menu a bit would be helpful - seemed like it lacked options. Overall, it was a good experience and the flavors were unique and impactful.
Be the first to ReplyTalk about finding a gem within all of the good restaurants
Talk about finding a gem within all of the good restaurants in Miami. This restaurant is amazing. Every single food item is delicious and has a flavor you have never tasted before. Not sure how that's possible but they have figured it out. Kiddos to the chef! We have gone twice and have told countless people to go. Anyone who we have recommended has come back saying "Amazing!" Our server, Krystal, is the BEST. She takes her time and speaks with us about the menu and what she recommends and why. The different sake options. Pretty much everything and her energy is so great. If you are looking for an experience and a great night out you need to come to Zitz Sum.
