Delicious Surprise!
We had a great night as a party of 6 the night before the Aspen Marathon. We tried 6 different pasta dishes and all were great! Our server made fantastic wine pairing recommendations.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre food and service in Aspen
The burrata was of low quality. The ravioli filling was veal and it did not work very well with the herb it contained. The staff, about 3 of them, was way too pushy about serving our bottled water.
Be the first to ReplyDine at your own risk, and double check statement
Food good, basic. Found additional $100 added to my tip when statement arrived. Someone added a "1" to my $80 tip, making it a $180 tip on a $400 check. Restaurant wouldn't answer by phone or email, I won dispute thru credit card company. I'd avoid this place and the others owned by the same company in Aspen.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food; Rudest GM Ever - STAY AWAY he’s a racist!
Food was excellent and staff was great. Biggest problem was with their GM, Carlos Valenzuela , that was beyond rude to my family which included 6 children. When the 13 of us walked in, we immediately felt like we were profiled. He said to us we only had 90 minutes to eat and we would have to leave. When I mentioned it would be really hard for 13 people to finish so quickly, he said that there was nothing he could do. They sat us at the way back of the restaurant next to the kitchen and then came over to us at 90 min with the check and told us it was time to go. It was beyond disrespectful. We had 6 kids with us that were all asking why we were kicked out . He was so rude. I honestly don’t know how such a restaurant with such history in ASE would ever choose to have such a disrespectful, rude and arrogant manager. It’s a shame. The restaurant is great but we will never go back and will tell all our friends to not go because of the managers behavior.
Be the first to ReplyTrendy but overcrowded
We had a party of 6 and early reservations. It became very crowded and seating was extremely close. Even the waiters had trouble maneuvering the aisles. The noise made it difficult to talk. Our food was good but a bit pricey for what we got. Nothing impressive. Surprised bread was extra with pasta dishes. Live and learn.
Be the first to ReplyYuk. Save your money. A total rip off.
We went for dinner as a party of four. The menu is pricey, which would be fine if the food was any good. It was not. All four meals were terrible. Bland. Over cooked, not seasoned, bad recipes. They even managed to mess up a bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. We ended up paying over 100 dollars per head without even ordering any wine. We told the waiter we thought the food was bad and he walked off without saying anything. A sad and miserable tourist trap. Avoid it at all costs. It’s truly awful.

I ordered the veal scaloppine and it was inedible. It was so tough. Very disappointing $300 meal for my husband and I. My husband did like his appetizer of beef carpaccio with black truffles . Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Be the first to Replyalways good and charming staff
Anna and bar staff have been charming to me always! Food and service are great-doing takeout tonight
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal in Aspen
We had great food and the atmosphere was also very pleasant. Aspen prices seem to be higher than those in the rest of the U.S. for the same dishes. Service was great. I had the gnocchi bolognese and a grrat salad.
Be the first to ReplyRude Anna
We arrived 10 minutes before our 7pm reservation. We checked in and Anna said we should wait for our table. Then another family from New York showed up and they were sat ahead of us with the same 7pm reservation time. Anna is not a fair person. We have many other choices in aspen for dinner and that’s we’re will will go. Aquafina has lost a frequent costumer!!! Easy to be rude in the good times. Good luck in the coming downturn. We will not be supporting you.
Be the first to ReplyDanger: Food Poisoning Alert!
I got terrible food poisoning from a grilled salmon dinner on Wednesday, 9/21. It took 24 hours of fever and painful GI symptoms before I recovered. I have notified the Putin County Health Department. Be careful!
Be the first to ReplyBest pasta in Aspen, but....
We have been eating here for years. Have tolerated the highly variable service and at times extravagantly overpriced seafood - for equally as long - in service to the outstanding pasta. Last night, however, put me over the top. You may have noticed that prices in Aspen have increased significantly since COVID. Aspen is now home of the $48 hamburger. My beef, however (excuse the pun) was not with the food, but with the management. On the wine list, there was a listing for an italian red wine, 1000 ml, for $18. I thought - must be a mistake. So I asked the waiter - "a bottle of wine in Aspen for $18 - must be a mistake." No, he assures me, "$18 for the bottle!" Of course, the check arrives and the tab is $90 for the bottle of wine. When I asked to speak to the manager, she points to the top of the menu page and notes that the heading is Wines by the Glass. Surely I doth protest too much because on the menu directly next to where it is written 1000ml it lists the price $18. So, after 60 years and multiple academic degrees, I find myself being schooled by a 20 something (whose native language is not English) on how to read a menu. Only in Aspen! But, of course, my wife (who is a slave to pasta) mentioned to me after dinner this evening (at a different Italian restaurant) - should have gone to Acquolina. Sometimes in life, one can just not win.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a great place to never miss while in Aspen. Luigi Giordani and Gretchen Leary run this great place. Excellent !!
This is one of the best restaurants in Aspen. Luigi Giordani and Gretchen Leary keep their restaurant as one of the best. Great food, great Service and wonderful ambiance of locals and visitors Don’t miss!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing for the prices
I have travelled to Italy many times so might be a bit more picky than most but also dine often locally. This restaurant has been in Aspen a very long time but went through at least 1 owner change. I ordered a Caesar salad for a starter and the seafood pasta as a main. The Caesar was one of the worst I have tasted with almost no taste (The dressing was more like mayonnaise as opposed to any hint of anchovy or the many ingredients that go into a good dressing. The seafood pasta was okay, a bit heavy on sauce (Would have preferred to see some cherry tomatoes and light sauce versus traditional American sauce). I would say the main dish was decent to the extent I might return but certainly not great or worth the prices, but then again it is Aspen. No bread on the tables, and an extra charge for anchovies on the salad also. For $19 on a starter salad I would have expected more.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t go
Don’t bother, the food is below average and way overpriced. The matradee is rude, unprofessional and could care less about your having a good meal. Making a reservation is pointless, they don’t answer their phone and never call you back. The online reservation system will charge your credit card before you even arrive. We have been coming to aspen for 40 years and. never seen such rude people. Try Mezzaluna’s or Brunelleschi's, you will enjoy the atmosphere and customer service much more.
Be the first to ReplyNo…No… No..
No Social Distancing No hint of anchovy in Caesar salad No offer of cracked pepper No offer of Parmesan cheese No taste No value
Be the first to ReplyVery well executed meal
Terrific staff, very knowledgeable and pleasant. Restaurant was 100% full during Aspen Food and Wine and Covid, and did a great job given the circumstances. Food was VERY fresh and prepared accordingly. Special shout out to our server and her wine pairings.
