Bad Roman New York Reviews from The Last Year
Bad Roman ehh
They honored the reservation but gave us the absolute worst table in the restaurant. We were no where near the rest of the restaurant. Besides that, the service was off probably because of our seating. The food was decent. This was the first time I have bought a reservation, so curious if they knew??
Middle of the road at best.
Packs in the B&T crowd and tourists. Better food and wine can be found elsewhere. Service was ok.
Went for dinner on a Sunday.
The place was really packed. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. One of the bartenders was very sweet and offered us water. We were seated and had to wait another 15 minutes for someone to come take out orders. There was no "hello how are you? I am _____ . I'll be taking care of you today". It was just a "Are you guys ready to order?" after a 15 minute wait. I got the pepperoni cups, garlic babka and the calamari. We got the habanero slush which had a very interesting presentation. It was a bit spicy. We also got the sole non-alcoholic wine on the menu which was from Copenhagen. That tasted good as well. The food was great. The service was weak. The pricing is moderate. The ambience is really great with amazing decor and fantastic mood lighting.

**Review of Bad Roman** Had a delightful dinner date at the trendy Bad Roman! From the moment we walked in, the aesthetic set the perfect vibe. Our waitress, Shawna, was a superstar--attentive and charming! We kicked things off with the Roasted Garlic Babka (heavenly!), a Spicy Gem Caesar with crispy ciabatta crumbs, and the indulgent Black Truffle Honey Whipped Ricotta--pure bliss! For our main, we tried the Short Rib Pappardelle. While the sauce was delicious, the pasta was a bit overcooked, which took away from the overall experience. Despite the pasta hiccup, we thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and the fantastic service. Definitely a spot to check out for a fun night out!
What they do they do right.
Service was good and decor is great. Sitting by the window looking out was great. The whipped ricotta was great. The filet and raviolo was also on point. There was not a dish I did not like. None of the dishes are tiny and everything was shareable.
Ricotta bread 10/10 Pork shoulder 10/10 Short rib pasta
Ricotta bread 10/10 Pork shoulder 10/10 Short rib pasta 10/10 Oysters 10/10 This is the best Italian food I have eaten in all of America . This place is a must. Everything we ordered was amazing .
Exactly as expected and maybe even worse.
The vibe is over the top. It's on the 3rd floor in the Columbus circle shops. Large extravagant doors await you as you walk up. The vibe is very sexy. The bartender started by giving my date a free sample of their martini which was nice. We were seated immediately. The decor is gorgeous. The bench seating is a comfortable velvet couch. The rest of the night did not go as well. The drinks were nothing special and if anything I was happy in choosing whiskey on the rocks as it was a heavy pour and my dates cocktails tasted like a child had made them. The cocktails had no thought and were not tasty. The whipped ricotta with honey was ok. The bread was stale. The ricotta and honey was delicious but we found plastic in the ricotta! We didn't say anything. The clams were small, over salted and just bleh. Baked clams are one of the most delicious dishes on the planet. Why bake pasta on it? Why over salt it? It came on a bed of salt that they light on fire. It was beautiful. I wish it tasted better. The Caesar salad was big and good but again sloppy. They left whole chunks of lettuce with dressing. Why not chop it. This was the best of the appetizers. We got the Dover sole which was big and delicious but for $60 it should be. It was on top of a cream sauce that was tasteless. The fish would have been fine with just lemon. I requested lemon that never came. My date got the shrimp pasta dish. The pasta was good. The serving was on the smaller side. Overall we had a great time because it is a beautiful venue, my date was great and the main dishes outshined the appetizer fiasco. The price is typical for fine dining in NYC but I can't say it was deserving. You are paying for the ambiance and not the food. Overall though, the restaurant should focus on the quality of the food they are serving just as much as the aesthetics of the establishment. In my opinion, this is one you can pass on unless you want to grab a sexy drink with a sexy vibe and share a bowl of pasta.
I can finally give this place a review.
Went last Friday night for dinner with my bf. We were in town for 4th of July weekend. Didn't disappoint the decor was snakes which I love it's my favorite animal. To start we ordered the black truffle honey whipped ricotta with the ciabatta. It was sooooo good. Also the arugula and pears salad must get! For our entrees we got the Rock Shrimp Chitarra ( not my favorite of the night) and Chicken Scarpariello Rigatoni. We both decided that if there's a next time to try something different not our best choices. For dessert we had to get the lemon cheesecake a must and for out surprise they complimented us with Beignets since we were celebrating my bf's bday. Overall good experience must try and service can take a little while but it's only because it's supper busy so understandable.
Came here for my birthday because I always wanted to try
Came here for my birthday because I always wanted to try their Lemon Cheesecake. I like the table they sat us in as I could see Columbus and part of Central Park. I like their bar set up and the lighting. The server was very good at explaining the food and drinks choices. The appetizer was good we really enjoyed the Garlic Babka and the Fritto Misto. Out of all the topping for the Ricotta cheese we enjoyed the Calabrian Chili Oil the most. But be aware if you want more bread you have to ask and wait for them to toast them up. My wife ordered the short rib pappardelle which was good and we both enjoyed it. I ordered the Filetto with Cacio E Pepe Raviolo. The Steak was good but nothing overly special and the cacio e Pepe sauce was good which worked out as a sauce for the steak. Orders a side of Rosemary Sage Fries which was really good. I really enjoyed the Lemon Cheesecake and highly recommend it as it is very interesting take on the traditional cheesecake. Great place for a meet up or a hang out as the bar and view is very good.
My friend and I recently went to Bad Roman for dinner and
My friend and I recently went to Bad Roman for dinner and we had a really nice time. I loved the ambiance and the decor - it's a beautiful space and actually, very big! You have to make a reservation in advanced, for sure. The food was good - i think the highlight was the truffle ricotta appetizer! The pastas were good, but nothing to write home about. We also LOVED the tiramisu ice cream cake. The only complaint is that we felt very rushed by our server - which i don't love, but it was still a great spot.
We recently dined at Bad Roman in NYC and here's our
We recently dined at Bad Roman in NYC and here's our detailed review of everything we ordered: Roasted Garlic Babka $8 A hit! Reminded me of garlic butter monkey bread. Absolutely delicious and a must-try. East Coast Oysters $4/pc Good, liked the mignonette, but nothing special. If you're an oyster fan, these are worth a try but don't expect anything extraordinary. Filet Mignon Meatballs $18 We all loved these! Tender, flavorful, and smothered in a great red sauce, topped with just the right amount of Parmesan cheese. Definitely a highlight of the meal. Spicy Gem Caesar $19 (not pictured) Our server recommended this one. It was honestly delicious, but I don't think I would order it again. Short Rib Pappardelle $34 This was my main dish, and it was delicious. Was it the best pasta I've ever had? Absolutely not, but I enjoyed it. For the portion, quality, and price, I don't need to order it again. Whole Roasted 2lb Lobster + Calabrian Pasta $95 I thought this one was going to be a winner, but I was wrong. The lobster was okay, but definitely not the freshest. The pasta had a good spicy, creamy vodka-style sauce. For the price, I was expecting a better quality lobster with more meat. Roasted Branzino $42 Nicely deboned and presented, the fish was fresh, and the salsa verde under it was good. There was just nothing special about the dish. Filetto $47 + Cacio e Pepe Raviolo $6 The filet mignon was good, but the raviolo was probably my favorite part. Again, nothing mind-blowing. Rosemary-Sage Fries $14 I just love fries These were no exception! Desserts: Caramelized Chocolate Tart + Olive Oil Gelato $14 Napoletana $18 Lemon Cheesecake $19 Overall, Bad Roman has some hits and misses. The Roasted Garlic Babka and Filet Mignon Meatballs were standouts, but other dishes did not live up to their price tag. NYC offers many fantastic dining options with better value for money. We recommend trying the Babka and Meatballs if you decide to visit. Final Verdict: The food was good, but for the price, we expected more. If you're in the area and curious, go for the Roasted Garlic Babka and Filet Mignon Meatballs. The restaurant was spacious and has a large bar as well. I recommend getting a reservation just cause it usually is a little busy. It is located inside of a mall so you need to go up the escalators or elevators to access the restaurant.
Just Right
I've long wanted to visit Birdland and staying at the Intercontinental Hotel across the street, a smile crept across my face when I noted we were so close. We made a reservation online and arrived around 30 minutes prior to our showtime. We were shown to a great table on the rail, we ordered drinks and an appetizer, and settled in for exactly what we came for. The music, ambiance, service, and food and drink were all just right. We will definitely add a visit to Birdland to our future visits to New York...
A New York must
We arrived at opening and got front row seats! All staff are AMAZING. They are attentive, polite and just generally lovely people. The food was fantastic and actually was one of our top meals in the states. The music itself was brilliant. A good length and the musicians were very engaging with the audience. We will 100% recommend bird land to others. It’s close to Times Square also so after your show you can have a look at it!
A great experience for us
First time to Birdland and an excellent experience. Booked online in advance and enjoyed seamless entry with a choice of table seating. We booked for the early Gil Evans Project show and enjoyed a bottle of wine before and during the set. The service was friendly and efficient and the ambience was great. We didn't eat but the food served to the next table looked really good.
A fantastic evening
We were visiting from The UK and had heard good things about Birdland and it did not disappoint! We booked for the Anais Reno trio and they put on a fantastic show. The staff were great and the food was tasty. Definitely recommend a visit if you're on holiday!
Amazing!
We were visiting NYC from the UK, we love a good jazz night and cocktails, so paid a visit to Birdland for Jim Caruso's Cast Party. It was an absolute blast, we had so much fun, the drinks were great, the music was fabulous, Jim was an amazing host, and Birdland was such a great venue.
Best Jazz Club Experience
Had the nicest evening in Birdland Jazz club. We wanted to see some jazz music and wanted to have dinner at the same time and this was the perfect place! We saw Sasha Dobson and she was fantastic! She even came and spoke to the audience after her set. The food was lovely, we shared the meatballs and the pizza because portion sizes are big (compared to portions in the UK). Our server Mona made the night even nicer because of her hospitality and charm. It always makes such a difference when you have a waitress like Mona. Would recommend to anyone visiting NYC!
Fantastic Jazz Venue
There is not a bad seat in this smaller intimate club setting. We enjoyed the show and the food was excellent. A shout out to our server Chloe who was so very pleasant. She got my favorite drink for me though it was an odd request. We saw an all female orchestra with an outstanding singer. The lineup looks great. We will go again!
Good ambience.
Good food, Namik was funny and great! The short rib papperdelle was really good!
Worst service I've ever had in my life.
Food was mediocre, NOT worth the hype. Better off going to the street hotdog truck.
Delightful experience!!! Everything was great, our server
Delightful experience!!! Everything was great, our server Alessia was super kind and gave us the best recommendations. Lemon cheesecake was beautiful.
Solid meal but not dying to come back.
My favorites were the whipped ricotta, filet mignon meatballs, and caviar gnocchi!! I wouldn't order the Caesar salad or scallops again.
I ordered an expresso martini with double shot of vodka
I ordered an expresso martini with double shot of vodka which easy 25 dollars and it was brought to me in a high ball glass and my server told me she ran out of martini glasses mean while the bar was empty and it was 10 pm it was no excuses for not having one clean glass especially when it was that time at night. It ruined my experience with this restaurant in which I was looking forward to go to
I enjoyed my experience at bad Roman.
The highlights for me was the ragu pasta, lemon cheesecake, whipped ricotta, meatballs, and calamari. The low lights was the tiramisu ice cream cake, it tasted like refrigerator , the other pasta (I forget the name) had a lot of anise and it overwhelming with anise flavor My group ordered the cocktails from their cocktail menu, which I don't typically do but this reminded me why because they were all disgusting. We didn't finish any of our drinks. Should have stuck to my martinis. Really great ambiance and vibes. It's a gorgeous space. I would definitely return! Just some items were a huge miss. Service was average.
IG-approved venue with a cool vibe for sure.
but the food and flavors were lacking. Pastas were mid, even the Fiorentina (which looked amazing) lacked seasoning. The atmosphere was memorable but the food was not. Temper your expecatations and it can deliver an enjoyable experience. Food: 6/10 Value: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Vibe: 9/10
I have heard mixed reviews for this place, but let me tell
I have heard mixed reviews for this place, but let me tell you it was an AMAZING experience. Right away the sommelier came over and offered a wine selection, and our waiter gave great recommendations for food. The spicy Caesar and ribs were top notch for apps. The star of the show is the filet mignon with the cacio e pepe ravioli on top. What a dish!!
Food amazing.
Interesting service, but added to the evening. Packed on a random night
The food was excellent.
The service was great and the ambiance and decor was A VIBE. I would definitely skip the babka, although delicious, it was just a glorified croissant. Honey ricotta was superb oh and the beef carpaccio was amazing !!
TERRIBLE food, service and vibe
This place is a tourist spot. I’m shocked it has anything to do with Don Angie. Everything has a gross white sauce on it, over sauced, poor service. Don’t waste your time, it’s awful.
Great night at the Birdland/Cast Party
Me and other family members attended Jim Caruso’s Cast Party,if I tell you the night included singers,a tap dancer a rapper a trombone player a violinist and a lady who sat in front of our table who just as the show started produced sketch pad, paints, pencils and other art paraphernalia and each artist who appeared she produced a drawing of each one ,they were all exceptional, and they were done at speed and in semi darkness.Mr caruso mentioned in his opening monologue it would be an eclectic show and my word it was,all the singers sang with skill and heart that made me feel they meant it. The backing trio were brilliant in there adaptability dealing with different arrangements for each singers song,I can’t recommend the Cast Party enough it was a great night,Mr Caruso was brilliant as the MC and made the night flow without hold ups, the venue was perfect, the service was just enough and well timed, once again if the two people who may read this review are in New York anytime I strongly suggest you book tickets forJIM CARUSO’S CAST PARTY.
Amazing Experience but beware of waitress doubling the tip on a pre-authorised card
We went to see the Cuban Jazz Orchestra on a Sunday evening and the performance was amazing! All of the musicians were incredibly talented and my wife and I were really impressed with the show and would recommend it to anyone as terrific value for money. Birdland is a decent sized jazz club and we had a table at the front to the left of the stage, the view and acoustics were superb. The waitress was friendly and attentive and we felt as though we had experienced fantastic hospitality until we read our credit card balance the following day. Unfortunately we paid with a debit card that she took to the till and basically doubled her tip. She brought us the bill for the drinks, I added on the tip (20%) and then I checked the next day to see she had decided to help herself to a 50% tip! In conclusion I would say, go and enjoy Birdland but be careful of this scam. It probably isn't the clubs fault but it none the less tainted our memory of the experience as at least when Robin Hood was robbing people he wore a mask. A star knocked off an otherwise 5 star experience for the light-fingered waitress.
Great service and good. FUN dinner
Intentionally gaudy. But So good and great scene
Great jazz and cocktails, who could ask for more
Great jazz venue, the band were amazing, the food was great, cocktails delicious. One of the highlights of our New York visit.
Big Band music in NY
We came here on Friday night for their Big Band. Amazing music. We just listened to the music & had a few drinks & didn't eat. Usually in our experience the food in this type of place is only fair & NYC has soooo many great restaurants we went out to eat after the show. Starts @ 530 but you need to line up outside around 430 & make a reservation.
Great jazz club
Fantastic music, good food and great atmosphere. The place is full of history and yet very much alive.
It's Reputation is Well Earned
We fully enjoyed David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. Will Anderson is masterful on the clarinet and alto saxophone. Some Xmas music was appreciated by all. We ate lasagna and peach cobbler a la mode. Yummy!
Dinner and a,show!
Very nice venue to see a show and have a meal. Intimate setting with a small stage. The food is pretty good and staff really friendly. If you book a table for a show get there early tables are given first come first serve basis.
Cool place
Good quality food at very reasonable prices. A classical jazz club setting; small, dark, round tables meant for two and what not.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.

Reservations could be posted for a variety of reasons. Most likely, the person who secured the reservation can no longer attend - to avoid accruing a "no show" fee, they can find someone to take their place.
