Food very good; service OK. Returned 4 years later and was quite disappointed. Booked for 1 person and when I arrived they tried to put me at an uncomfortable counter seat. Asked for a table and it worked out. Starter of chorizo was tasty. When I ordered a glass of 19gbp wine with my main, the wine list said "coravin" which I assumed was a coravin system. Instead I saw the server pour from an open bottle. When she brought the wine, I asked her about the coravin, but she seemed flustered. Plus the pour was quite meagre; I then asked the sommelier and he said "oh your server made a mistake". I asked about the meagre pour and he said "135 milliliters is what we pour for a glass". OK whatever. My flustered server disappeared and as time stretched on, I wondered where my main of Turbot pil-pil with potatoes was. After 25 minutes, another server dumped the plate on my table, not even saying anything. The food was lukewarm and although tasty, it lacked salt. I ate about half of my main and as it had gotten cold, it became unappetizing. When the server came to take away the plates, she asked how the food was. I said it was tasty, but it was served almost cold. A few minutes later, the manager was looming over me, asking "were there problems with the food ?" I replied yes food was served lukewarm, so it got cold on the plate. He replied "you have been rude to my staff so I am asking you to leave." I replied that I was by no means rude, but I had questions about the coravin and when asked I told a server my food was cold. Moral of the story: BRAT is now a tourist joint where a customer dare not complain. Chef Parry makes nice food, but his staff is entitled, lazy and do not understand the concept of hospitality. I will be pleased to never return to BRAT.
