The restaurant is like that cool friend! who always knows where the party's at, The décor, the music, the signage, the seating, the lighting! all mold together to create the sultry atmosphere, you'll feel like! you're in a speakeasy but tucked away, from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Had an amazing dinner at MOKYO a few days prior and was excited to have tapas again but unfortunately, this place did not live up to the hype. We sampled nine dishes between 4 people and not a single one was particularly outstanding. The meal wasn't bad just not all that memorable. My husband called it drunk food except we weren't drunk. Not a place I'd return to or recommend.

I came here a few months ago on a cold day and was warmly greeted with two shots of Sake. The server was very friendly and helpful guiding us through the menu. I think we ordered nearly everything on the menu and it was fantastic! My least favorite were the fries - they were still good, but in comparison to the other dishes did not have the same amazing flavors. Favorite by far was the salabury steak. Also, the sweet tea was on point! Get everything in the menu, you won't regret a single bite. Also, don't forget to check out the bathroom!!

Everything about this place was great, especially the service! Our waitress Charlie was so delightful and really elevated our experience. My friend and I were welcomed with a free shot of sake to start it off. We ordered the oxbone cream pasta, salad, seoul'sbury steak and popcorn chicken! The steak and pasta were definitely my favorites. The popcorn chicken was good but nothing mind blowing. I want to go back and try the rest of the menu. I have a feeling everything else is excellent as well. It's a cute small restaurant that doesn't feel too boujee but still constitutes as a nice night out. Great experience!

So many restaurants in NYC are undeserving of the hype they receive, but C as in Charlie is not one of them! Reservations are relatively easy to snag, and we were seated a bit earlier than our reservation time. You're greeted with a welcome shot of sake, and a small yet delicious menu. I love trying a bunch of dishes on the menu, so the tapas style selection here was perfect. We had the Crab Drop, which was AMAZING!! It's a creamier soup, almost tasted chowder-like, but not heavy at all!! There was a good amount of crab in there too! I also loved the Oxbone Cream Pasta was also excellent- flavor was reminiscent of carbonara, but the green onion adds a great freshness. We were also able to try the Mushroom Bibimbap and Baby Back Ribs- also good, but didn't blow my mind like the first two dishes I mentioned. The dessert was a super fun concept!! They bring you a little squeeze bottle of paste/whipped cream, and you draw something on the banana pudding and get entered into a contest! It was super fun for us to do. Service was also amazing, everyone was soooo friendly. It's a smaller restaurant, but the noise and low-light make it a fun vibe for a dinner with friends or a date night. LOVED my experience, will definitely be back!!!

This place will take you through a culinary journey, with dishes that are korean fusion and quirky themes. Place is very warm and I highly recommend going to the bathroom to observe the 'artwork' that is in there.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibe and very tasty food (think bar/new American).
Good for group friends' hang. Service was fast.

Great restaurant in Noho for when you want to have a fun night out, but also want some good food before hand. C as in Charlie is a small restaurant that features Korean/Southern-inspired food in small-plate format. The restaurant is covered in a red hue and the place doesn't take itself too seriously. Be warned that this place is pretty loud and has a party atmosphere, so don't come here if you want something quiet and intimate. I think the menu at C as in Charlie is pretty fun. From "Seouls'bury Steak" to an ice cream dessert that looks like a bagel, the food is pretty whimsical but execution was really good. Think the highlight for me was the crab drop soup, where the crab flavor came out really strongly, to the benefit of the dish. Our server did a great job walking us through the menu and had some great recommendations. We even got a free shot of sake as a parting gift which I'm never going to complain about.

Came here on a Friday with Reservations for two people at 10PM, and the place was full. Me and my boyfriend arrived a little before our reservations but our table was ready at 10. We were helped immediately and the service is sooooo attentive. We were given two same shots to start off our dinner once seated. It's recommended to be 2-3 dishes per person and me and my boyfriend ordered the following: Toast roll: I loved this. This reminded me of dimsum but with a slightly different spin. The sweet chili sauce was maya based and was amazing. Popcorn chicken: amazing and good portioned. Your traditional popcorn chicken with a glaze. Oxbone cream pasta: I also really like this. I do wish it was slightly creamier and thicker, but that's just my preference. Also good portioned as I think too much of this dish would've been too much and ruined the other dishes for us. Baby Back Ribs: this was a close second to being my favorite. Fall off the bone delicious. We were given wet wipes along with the dish which is a considerate touch. Seoul'sbury Steak: this was my boyfriend's favorite. He loved the grits because they were cooked with cheese and sooo buttery. I'm not a grits person, BUT I did think the steak was good. Overall, highly recommend this place. I loved the casual feeling of the place but think this is a solid choice for a girls catch up, for a date night and even a group hang out. I was too full for dessert but I'd definitely come back here again to try their other dishes and dessert!

I was super excited to try a Korean tapas place with such a unique menu, especially because I personally had confused oxbone with oxtail initially haha. Imagine my surprise when the pasta arrived with no oxtail - did a few double takes. That was however my favorite dish! It was pretty al dente with a rich flavorful creamy sauce and topped with bacon bits. My second favorite was the mushroom bibimbap, which came with a poached egg on top of a variety of mushrooms and rice, and not much else. The mushroom was super flavorful and the egg added a lot of texture but the rice was a bit hard - my friend thought it might've been a 10/10 if the rice had been a softer sushi or sticky rice. The popcorn chicken was presented in a retro popcorn container. The sauce was really good here, a sweet gochujang I think, it was quite crispy but a little drier than I'd anticipated. The tuna tartare missed the mark for me. It was a sort of diced tuna bits with not much flavor - I rather enjoyed the chip though. One of the staff presented us with free shots of sake which was a pleasant surprise! Not one but two people explained to us the menu and recommended most of the menu. The staff is very attentive and enthusiastic, a little too attentive almost which I know is an odd thing to say. Another odd thing to say is that there is a small dish you have to eat with, since it is tapas (2-3 dishes per person is recommended) but the utensils are rather heavy and clunky. Maybe it was just me but it made for an awkward eating experience when you want to set your knife down somewhere but the dish is too small to hold it and it ends up slipping everywhere. The staff moved my cutlery several times as they cleared dishes since I was resting it on the larger tapa dishes. The setting is overall a dimly lit but colorful room, and is a bit loud as the place fills up - it's just one of those places that echos with everyone's conversation, too stimulating and loud to have a normal conversation personally. I was super excited to have such a cute spot nearby but maybe I'll try to come during an off hour, after prime dinner time I think. FYI, there is a 5% cash discount, and AmEx not accepted.

Korean and Southern tapas style dishes! I love the vibe here and certainly the warm Southern hospitality from the entire staff. They welcomed us with free sake shots! The menu consists of small dishes to share - we got 7 dishes to share between the two of us. Each dish ranges from $9-$15. I LOVED the mushroom bibimbap!!!!!! So full of flavor and umami from the hen of the woods (JUST GET IT). The seoul'sbury steak was a close second fave. The galbi jus was just chef's kiss! The oxbone cream pasta is also a must-get. Perfectly al dente and savory. Next time I would skip: the potato nugget and crab drop.
Be the first to ReplyHighly recommend this Korean tapas place.
Perfect place for someone who likes sharing and trying a lot of different foods. It was our second dinner, which was why we only ordered 3 dishes. My favorite was Oxbone Cream Pasta - it tasted like Seolleongtang(Korean ox bone soup) but creamier! Our server (forgot her name) was super friendly and funny as well. By the time we leave, we became best friends! I also loved that they played old Korean songs. We'll definitely go back!

Be the first to ReplyFive stars is just not enough for this place.
Every single thing we ordered was delicious! They did run out of dessert but that will just bring us back. The ambience is amazing and the servers are all so kind. Love that the menu is short so got to try a lot of things. The popcorn chicken (10/10) mushroom bibimbap (9/10) oxbone cream pasta (11/10, the best) toast roll (7/10) seoul'sbury steak (11/10). We also had a sake recommended by our server and it was also really good. I've recommended C as in Charlie to literally everyone I know, it's so so good and I can't wait to go back!

It is the type of restaurant that you can only find in a town like NYC. Creative cooking, concerned service, and a wonderful experience.

Highly recommend this spot! Great food, price point, ambiance, and service :) We ordered 6-7 dishes to share between 3 people and everything we tried was so good. I especially recommend their fried chicken, shrimp roll, mushroom with rice, and the bagel ice cream dessert. Even though tapas style comes out to be a bit $$ at this spot the bill came out to be around 100 before tax which was pretty good. Every dish is between $10-14. I also felt like the staffs really pay attention to every table and care about their restaurant, explaining every dish as they came out and marking sure to check up on us not in an intrusive way. Oh they also give you a shot of sake upon arrival!

Incredible spot with great food and attentive waitstaff! The waitress made sure our glasses were always full and had a great experience. We ordered the toast roll, mushroom bibimbap, seoulsbury steak, and charlies deli bagel. Toast roll (4.5/5) had a nice crispy exterior with creamy shrimp on the inside paired with pickled onions and creamy sauce.Mushroom bibimbap (4.5/5) had sauteed mushrooms on a bed of rice with a poached egg in the center. Our waitress recommended us not to mix the egg in for the best taste.Seoulsbury steak (5/5) the grits paired with the meat were so delicious and cheesy you can definitely taste the gruyere.Charlies deli bagel (5/5) hands down one of the most unique and creative desserts I've had. The strawberry jam was nice and tangy and compliments the cream cheese gelato very well. They also add an additional smuckers jelly if you need it.

Came while it was pouring rain on a weekday, and every table was still taken - people really were willing to make the trek out here! The team did a great job of merging Korean with Southern flavours, with some innovative takes on traditional dishes for both. My personal favourite was the toast roll and oxbone cream pasta. Other items ordered included the popcorn chicken (so crispy and crunchy! The gochujang really stood out too), mushroom bibimbap, crab drop, and seouls'bury steak. Personally, I love grits so only wish it could have been a dish on its own too. Since they service their dishes more tapas style, I'd recommend coming with one or two other people as it can be quite small to share. With perhaps 3 people you could have more options to try a large majority of their dishes on the menu.

5 stars! While the food didn't live up to the hype (and I desperately wanted it to), the service was immaculate. I loved the vibes and the theme of the food, and there were some dishes that stood out to me!- mushroom bibimbap ($15): you can't go wrong with this, a simple rice and mushroom dish with a perfect onsen egg. it's creamy and silky, a lighter flavor compared to the other dishes!- crab drop ($13): if you love creamy soup, this is it for you. at first i really enjoyed it but then it came way too salty- toast roll ($13): enjoyed this one for the novelty and the sauce was a great pairing- tuna tartare ($14): not bad, typical tartare but a little too acidic- seoul'sbury steak ($14): controversially my favorite just because i Loved the flavor and texture of the grits so much. the steak could have had more meat and been chewier (it was very crumbly and mushy)- baby back ribs ($14): typical ribs, very mid and i would skip- b as in banana ($11): extremely sweet but really enjoyed for the novelty that you could decorate it yourself!- charlie's deli bagel ($12): obsessed, it's an interesting dessert with great punchy flavorsOverall, I'm not sure if I'd come back but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. They greeted us with sake shots and was quick to serve the dishes, waiters were super nice and friendly.

TLDR: cute, cozy, Korean restaurant with great food and better service! SETTING: came for a 7:30pm dinner on Saturday night. This restaurant is in the same space as what used to be Bessou, a cute Japanese spot. Not much has changed in the interior- it's a small space with a good amount of tables, not TOO tightly packed but some awkward angles (aka my seat if pushed back to stand up, hit the seat of another table near us). Not a big deal but a tight space.FOOD: we ordered a ton of food - popcorn chicken, oxbone pasta, ribs, potato nugget, toast roll, mushroom rice, family meal- basically one of everything as the menu is quite limited. Between four people it was easy to try and share one of everything (though for some smaller plates, You only get one taste) All was good, solid, flavorful. No complaints. The mushroom bibimbap stood out to me as it was so savory and rich, but everything was good!SERVICE: service was excellent. We were promptly served, people checking in often but not too much. Loved the service!VERDICT: I wouldn't say this is a destination, or must go, but if you're in the area and craving some good small plates of Korean food, you can't go wrong here!
