Casa La Femme New York Reviews from The Last Year

Went here for Mother's Day & were required to order off the prix fix menu. At first it seemed worth it since it includes a belly dancing show...but alas, the food was basic. Certainly not worth the price. Better middle eastern food elsewhere. I'm still insulted by my salmon dish that resembled a hotdog. It's the smallest piece of salmon I've ever received. My sister & I truly couldn't believe it. Belly dancer was 30+ mins late. We waited an extra 20 mins after our meal for it to begin. Service was good overall. Staff was kind & accommodating. Decor was nice as well.

The staff was great, the location is chill, the decor is beautiful, and the food is really good. I had Koshary & it was great!

I just came home from this restaurant, we celebrated my sister in law's mother's birthday and had a reservation for party of 5... I am not much of a person to leave such bad reviews, but for the food and service, I really feel like we got scammed/rip off from this place. My sis-in-law Mother lived in the Middle East for quite some time, so we were excited to take her here to get a taste of "home" and the show with belly dancer seem fun. Now, we probably saw the belly dancer once for about 2 minutes, but it's not even as great as to other places I been. Anyhow, we told our server, Maria that it is our first time on this restaurants and we were excited about it, then, she gave us a choice to either do pre-fixe menu or order a-la-carte, we picked the pre-fixe for $59, cause it sounded more sensible. Though we all ordered mix grill and lamb chops, those meals are extra $10 each on top of $59, which made our pre-fix $69 per person. And then, our waiter started "suggesting" or more on convincing us about other add-on, such as octopus, falafel platter, and French fries. It was very mapped out on how she introduced these "add-on", like those vendors in the middle of the mall that convince you to buy their product. Kudos to her sales talk, she scammed us! Let's talk about the food... I loved loved loved Mediterranean food. I've had so many different ones from different states, different cities, and even different countries. This place, definitely TOO OVERRATED, TOO OVER-PRICED, and TOO MEDIOCRE. We ordered 4 mix-grill and 1 lamb chops. It was okay, the mix grill was very small in portions for $49 entree, the chicken was dry and bland, the beef was okay, and the lamb chops were super overcooked. The food also came out cold and seems like it has been sitting in the kitchen for quite some time. We also ordered 1 each cocktails that range from $19-$21. The drinks were regular, and were served in a smaller glass than expected. Though, we really did liked the appetizers that came with the pre-fixe menu, I was disappointed that we have to pay extra for pita bread, for the price that was charged, it should have been free. The place is nice, there were decorative flowers everywhere, it's like a garden theme except the flowers were fake. The decor was very well thought out, but the seating is a bit crowded and everyone pretty much on top of each other. Our server, Maria. She was pleasant, however, I really feel like she hustled us, I felt taken advantage and scammed by her. We agreed to all the add on that she suggested because it felt like if we said no, she'll spit on our food. Plus she presented everything so special, like how the octopus is really good, the falafel is the best thing ever, and the French fries is from farm to table French fries. What's crazy is when all of these "add on's" came to our table, they all tasted regular, even somewhat bland, and nothing really special at all. What really disappoint me the most is that she "full disclosure" demand us to tip between 20% to 30% on our $550+ bill. For 5 people we paid $660+ for food that's truly just ordinary. I've had so much better food elsewhere, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind paying $150+ for food that is high quality, delicious, juicy, and worth the money, but this one, oh my, I'm very very very disappointed and never ever coming back again. Great job on the marketing and advertising team, but honestly I would not even recommend this restaurant to family, friends, or even strangers.

Casa La Femme offers a taste of Egypt with its richly decorated setting. The ambiance is undeniably the highlight, perfect for a serene dining experience. The menu features traditional Egyptian dishes; the mezze platter and falafel were commendable starters, vibrant with authentic flavors. However, the main course did not fully meet expectations and lacked the robust zest typical of Egyptian fare. The pricing is on the higher side, which might be justified by the ambiance but less so by the culinary experience. For those seeking atmosphere over epicurean excellence, it remains a solid choice. Good service.

such an amazing place to go! the ambience and food were fantastic! If you're looking for a great date night, this is it!
definitely not worth it
worst food ever, incredibly over priced and the food is so poor, the service is so poor. Feels like everyone is on their first day on the job. The armchairs so incredibly uncomfortable that there is no way to have a dinner. I went there twice, and both times came back very disappointed. and then a group of friends made reservations there , i showed up and same terrible experience.
Not worthy, bad service
Too expensive for what you get in the pre fix menu, rude waitress and incompetent manager who we paid to and didn't known how to split a bill and want to overcharged us, disappointed.

Somebody hacked CLF's Facebook page, changed the name to "Alert System," and is sending out threatening direct messages. (Indeed Suspicious that DMs involve a tiny competing Moroccan restaurant with belly dancers.) BTW, went to CLF with my partner years ago, and we had a nice time.
Extremely small portions- overpriced- mediocre food.
Save your money & Go elsewhere!! Trust me...
Food was flavorful.
Had the pre fix lunch that came with a nicely seasoned chicken breast. The belly dancing shows definitely split up the conversation multiple times. And we're always captivating. The dancer waltzed her way around the restaurant constantly keeping everyone engaged. Great joint
The cooking was REALLY not good.
The place is all ambiance, not good well-prepared food with flavor. Try some of the restaurants in Astoria for good Egyptian food in NYC.
Girly restaurant to go with your girlfriends.
The drinks were too strong we were drink with only one. Food was okay, could be better. Ambiance is very chilling. I really loved the decoration that was the main reason me and my friend went. Also I like how the bring your the drinks with flowers and all that.. if you love to take photos this is the perfect place to go to..
Awesome food Awesome dancers, incredible design.
Great service! Would definitely recommend and go there again! 5 ninjatō sword stars!
Horrible Experience ! It doesn’ Worth it
My experience was not entirely pleasant. I had high expectations for this place and I thought the decoration was very nice. However, we did not have a good experience. Starting with the bathrooms that could not be closed from the inside. And to use them I had to go with someone else to wait for me at the door. But, what bothered me the most was the degrading and unpleasant attitude of a manager named “Amir”. This person showed not education and he was very disrespectful . Let me explain you this ; When I made the reservation to visit the restaurant, it said on the website that it was US$39.99 per person for January, then I saw that it was US$59.00. ( which out was ok for us ) When we arrived at the place, one of the waiters Mohammed told me that I had two options: pay 59 US per person or a la carte. There were 3 of us in my group and at the time of ordering we had decided on 2 orders of 59 US and one person a la carte. Since the third person did not require everything that included the 59 us for having stomach surgery, she could not eat that amount of food. When I took the order he told me that they all had to be 59 us (not two people paying this price and another a la carte. They had to be all a la carte or all 59 us) I explained it to the busboy and he told me that he would call the manager and I explained the situation to him and his response was: If it's okay with you or if you don’t you can GO. I think that was not the correct answer, I understand that it is the restaurant's policy, but why not explain that from the moment of the reservation? Why wait to get there and limit ourselves and impose something that someone does not want to obtain for certain reasons? . Yes, there are policies that must be explained before going and to say something like that you have to have respect for others, because no one went to beg for food or drinks. What a bad time we had. It was my intention to retire but, because it was one of the people's birthdays, I didn't want to make them have any more bad times. At the end of the night that person had to pay for something they didn't eat and order takeout. Another thing, the supposed belly dance show was very poor; We expected more, there was not much atmosphere in short, terrible service except for the busboy who was friendly. The information about the prices not very clear . The staff were dressed up all black what gave us the impression that we’re at a funeral parlor . It was not according with that deco . We order one glass of white wine which it was served totally warm , when it should be served chilled . The food was not to our liking either. It's not worth paying that amount of money for such a show and food. Very very bad experience. How embarrassing. I wouldn't return to this place and have obviously not recommended . Thanks
Not the friendliest restaurant to go to.
.. the stars from this review solely goes to the salmon dish which really saved my experience from being a complete 1 star. I came for a friend's birthday and despite her having made a reservation for a relatively large crowd, we needed to wait for every single person on the reservation to arrive before being seated. Also good luck trying to find the host when you first walk in - I tried asking a few waiters and employees but they all told me they don't know (even when my friend asked to use the bathroom before being seated, they said they don't know if she can). Additionally, after we were seated, it took so long for anyone to come by with water, instructions on ordering, the actual ordering, the wait for food, and finally the check. I'd also recommend managing your expectation with the belly dance because the single dancer passes by once and very quickly - she was good, don't get me wrong, but don't expect a whole show. Also, at one point we needed to speak to the manager since our waiter didn't know the question to one of our questions, and the manager was very curt and snappish in his response. All in all, not the best experience, but if you do find yourself here, manage your expectations and order the salmon.
The food was good but the service wasnt so great.
We saw 2 mice running around in the rest and told the server several times. He just laughed at us and didn't really seem too fazed.
We spent New Year's Eve.
The food was delicious. Servers were very attentive. However, the DJ was to say the least, very inexperienced and not at his console at times. The music didn't have a flow to it. It sounded a mess. Also, I believe, the speakers were not set up properly. Many times during the event, we heard disturbing noises.
Very bad experience, it’s scam
Very bad service due to charging 18% gratuity, they don’t care, very small portion , not good experience at all, poor costumer service, not worth, and you will not be happy for the rude service, it’s scam, food truck much better .
Disappointing
Meh. Food was decent but service was slow and unprofessional. We went since they advertised entertainment ( belly dancing) which we saw for about 4 minutes. Overall, not exactly a culinary experience worth the price and the 4 minutes certainly didn’t make up for the difference. Pass.
Truly mediocre
The food was mediocre and the portion size was nothing to brag about. The decoration was gaudy (lots of cheap, fake flowers) and the service was poor. If you're dining as a group of 8 or more, then be prepared to spend $60 on their prix fixe menu which does not give you a lot of options. I would not recommend this place. There are way better restaurants in the city. I should've been suspicious when we were able to make a reservation for 9 people on a Friday night...
Highway Robbery in a Restaurant Huge Bill for worthless food.A place to stay away from.
Bland Food, HEAVILY OVERPRICED, we never received a Bill only a total. Very small portions and the food quality definitely not worth what they are overcharging you.The Menu and pricing all hidden and obsure, certainly a scam. They will certainly never ever see me again there.
