Cecconi's Dumbo Reviews from The Last Year
Best Restaurant View in NYC
Cecconi’s is one of the best dining experiences in New York. We had never eaten in Brooklyn, but the food and the view from our outside table of the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge were unforgettable. It was our 40th Anniversary and we are so glad we celebrated here. The staff took great care of us. We will go back.

Everytime in NYC we come to cecconi you can't beat the views the menu is reasonable price and the food is always excellent the service on point had a great server yesterday oh wait and drinks are just the best .
Nice set up and location but the service was terrible our
Nice set up and location but the service was terrible our server forgot to order our food which led to us waiting a full hour for the food. The food wasn't up to the restaurants standards to be honest and I won't be returning or recommending this location to anyone.
Worst restaurant management ever.
I have put my name down and after 3 hrs wait i was expecting something better than a table next to the check station. I tried telling the host but he got overwhelmed because everybody was complaining about their wait time/seating. Another customer got mad at me simply because i was waiting for them to finish their convo. I needed to complain to the host so i have to wait for him to be done with another customer (another 10 min). Sorry but i didnt like what table i got after 3 hrs. It was way worse than what i expected. I got super angry.anyway the other customer and i got into an argument bc of this poor management. I would give zero star to the management. The other customer decided to attack me so i called the police. This is very embarrassing and poor management did that to me. I hope people notice what kind of management they have.
Solid, but not quite mamma mia.
The Lugana white wine? Refreshing, I did really enjoy this wine. Prosciutto pizza hit the spot, though I've had better in Little Italy. Rigatoni was decent, but lacked that homemade touch. Service? Smoother than olive oil - definitely the high point. Views are Instagram-worthy, but can't quite make up for the just-okay food. It's a 3/5 - good for a business dinner or impressing out-of-towners, but true Italian food lovers might leave wanting more authenticity and flavor.

Nothing like it Aperol Spritz here on a warm sunny day in New York. The service here is great as the server recommended items for us and both were very good. We were originally going to get the calamari, but ended up settling for the octopus after the server recommended it, and it was honestly delicious. It was steamed octopus, and the texture and flavor was great. The beef tartare was also really good and it was paired with some crispy bread which we also enjoyed. The view was great if you can get outside seating. You can see the Brooklyn bridge as well as a waterfront view. I would recommend reserving this place early if you can.
Beautiful view, Pricey, food just ok
You are definitely paying for the view here. It is magnificently positioned between the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. Our pizza was on the smaller side for $24 and the crust was soggy. The salad was good, but the piece of salmon was small.
The view was insane.
The food was good but nothing too amazing. Service was nice! Its a little over price but I think you pay for the view
Terrible Service
Had a 2:30 PM lunch reservation this past Friday...arrived early (1:30 PM) with the intention of waiting at the bar until a table was available. Were informed by the host, that the restaurant was fully committed and would not be able to seat us until 2:30 PM. Strange as there were table open all throughout the restaurant, which remained empty until we went back up to the host stand at 2:40 PM to see why we hadn't been seated. The host had completely forgotten about us. Decided we should point this out to the General Manager, who was less than interested and didn't understand why we had an issue. Wrong answer....he could have at least made an excuse up. Very frustrating to have a table of 5 young ladies come into restaurant at the exact same time as us (1:30 PM), heard them tell the host they did NOT have a reservation and guess what...they were immediately seated. Ended up with a bottle of wine and apps at the bar, but definitely not returning here.
food was good but the best part of it all it is the fact
food was good but the best part of it all it is the fact that we got a great table outside. I definitely recommend this place on the summer time.
Not pictured is the calamari, which was so yummy! The pizza
Not pictured is the calamari, which was so yummy! The pizza was delicious. They had a very refreshing summer cocktail with vodka and cucumber, that was delightful! It's a very cute restaurant. They have a large patio, make sure to make a reservation in advance to sit outside. Great views! Service was great!
If you keep in mind that you're coming here for the
If you keep in mind that you're coming here for the atmosphere and not the food than it is a pretty good experience. This is definitely the time of place you would want to bring an out of towner to show them a good view. I had the black truffle pasta. Very lackluster and 'mid'. Pasta was cooked fine but in general the dish was absent of flavor. My mom got the steak and she said it was fine. The real stunner is the atmosphere and view. Though unfortunately we had to sit in the back of the restaurant so we really didn't even get a view. I also found the seating to be quite low and hard to get in and out of. For dessert my mom got the cookies, which she liked and they came with 3 giant cookies. I got the profiteroles but I just had incredible profiteroles at Sailor and these are not as good. Service was very attentive and lovely. I will say we kept smelling the pizza coming out of their woodfire oven and it smelled amazing, so that might be the way to go when dining here. I might come to try their brunch but I'm not planning on rushing back.
Is this old school Little Italy Italian? No.
Have I had better Italian? Yes. Did my experience line up with some of the really terrible reviews? Nah! Yes, service was initially a little cool, but was attentive and did warm up. It was easy to get a reservation on a Sunday evening and I was seated inside with a nice view onto the water. There was no outdoor seating that day due to rain. The views really are great, and it's one of the main reasons to eat here. I had the whipped ricotta and ruffle honey crostini to start. Good flavor, but I think next time I would go with the gnocchi alla romana with gorgonzola and sage. For my main course I had the bucatini cacio e Pepe with black truffle. It wasn't quite as thick, rich, or decadent as some of the best cacio I've had, but it was pretty good. Again, expectations must be tempered here. You're paying for location, views, and convenience, not super stellar classic Italian. I also asked the server to order me a side he felt like I couldn't live without. So he chose the asparagus, which was cooked perfectly and had some hot and gooey cheese on top. I had three cocktails, but I unfortunately did not keep notes, and only two are on the online menu: the La Lollo (mezcal, aperol, amaro nonino, strawberry, grapefruit, Fresno chili, lemon) and the oro spritz (absolut elyx vodka, cointreau, licor 43, lemon, turmeric, cardamom, and Prosecco soda). All three cocktails were light, fruity, refreshing. Several cocktails on the menu have interesting/less mainstream ingredients, with lots of herbs and spices as well as delicious looking fruit flavor profiles. There is also an extensive wine list. They have wood oven pizza, multiple pastas (ragu, bolognese, fusilli with kale pesto, a spaghetti with Maine lobster and chili, and more). They have wood and charcoal mains, such as whole cauliflower with lemon aioli, salmon, branzino, filet mignon, veal. They have salads and tartare. Yes, my cacio e Pepe was 55 dollars (that truffle is EXPENSIVE). Would I order that again over the ricotta and spinach ravioli with butter and sage, that was 20 dollars cheaper? Probably not. Would I pay 21 dollars for some crostini again? Probably not. But I knew what I was paying for. I was nearby at St. Ann's Warehouse for a show (reviewed separately), I wanted something very close by (steps away), the view was nice, and it was easy to get in. I paid for those things more than the food. It's what happens in Dumbo on the waterfront. But this spot still doesn't deserve all the hate.
Not good enough
Well we booked this about 2 months before we went on holiday to NY, we thought it would be a nice area to have dinner ! We got the subway from Herald Square right to Dumbo. Could not find an entrance until we asked someone. We entered by the back of the building and we got a lovely table on the front, great place to people watch. Then it went downhill …… my friend received her pasta and I didn’t ! Waited and nothing came, then I tried to find our waitress who (she said) she thought we were sharing ?? So I waited on mine coming and by time mine came, my friend was finished !! Waitress was apologetic but it wasn’t good enough, you want to eat with your friend/partner. She offered us a sweet, which I had.
Poor value and poor salad, nice location .. maybe just ordered wrong..
Poor ..but friendly service .. Salmon salad , Tiny piece of salmon , stack of iceberg lettuce drenched in vinaigrette few halved tomatoes .. so expensive .. so disappointed ..nice location ..
Best calamari!! And the brick oven pizza is awesome!
Best calamari!! And the brick oven pizza is awesome! However, the menu can be updated. I don't think it offers enough diversity in taste. Great views of the Brooklyn bridge!

Came here for a trip to New York because I heard that this is the best place to see the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge, and I will tell you it did not disappoint. Plus, the ambience inside is very elegant. Food was great, we started off with appetizers, such as calamari and octopus, which was delicious. Then we had a steak dinner, which I will say is the only area for improvement I can suggest, and then finished with a very delicious dessert. Absolutely will be returning. The service was great as well.
uncomfortable seating but overall good experience.
The pastas are filling and delicious.. service felt welcoming and atmosphere was the definitely a vibe.. 7/10 upgrade seating and i'll give it a solid 9.
Welcoming atmosphere.
Kids friendly. We came with three kids and noticed other tables with kids. So we did not feel uneasy, when kids started to run around. Food was freshly made, gnocchi with cheese was tasty and well prepared. Pizza was ok. Wine was good. Pricing is reasonable considering it fancy location and number of staff working. We liked everything . Our overall experience was STRONG GOOD.

Drinks to start were amazing and refreshing , the app's unbelievable and the short rib I will be dreaming about till I go again . Beautiful views and very classy atmosphere perfect for intimate birthdays and dates or even a nice family dinner . The waitress was very nice and food was spread out perfectly
Came here on a Friday night with friends.
I had been here a few times before and had a good experience, but this time was different. The first thing I noticed was that the NY DOH rating had changed to a B, which was slightly off-putting. For food we ordered the bolognese, zucchini frites, pesto pasta, chicken paillard, and rosemary potatoes. The pesto pasta did not have enough pine nut flavor and had too much parmesan cheese. Not the worst, but also not the best we've had. The zucchini frites were oily, soggy, under salted, and unevenly fried. Would not recommend. The bolognese was average and also lacked salt. The chicken paillard was actually very rubbery and lacked salt. The flavor was overpowered by balsamic vinaigrette. This I would definitely not recommend. I actually sent it back. The waiter did not seem surprised that I sent it back either.. I will say the cocktails were the only saving grace and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. Would recommend for drinks with friends who are from out of town prior to going to a nice dinner.
I used to love it here a few years ago.
The egg plant parm was to die for! I went back after a few years (last weekend) and it just didn't hit.. the sauce tasted like a watery tomato paste. The salami mushroom pizza was okay, very salty on the mushrooms. The saving grace was the top tier service. Not sure I would return after this :(
Lovely views and food👏
Had a lovely meal here with my family. Restaurant overlooks Brooklyn Bridge which is stunning. Pizzas did need slightly longer cooking as was a bit cold but that’s okay as tasted lovely. Truffle pasta was amazing. Thank you
Underwhelming and rude
Average fare and rude. Let me explain…. Booked on here a time slot for dinner a few days in advance. Greeted by a lady who found our reservation easily and asked us to wait. We were 10 mins early so no issue. New York is freezing at the moment so we had large coats. We were left for 15-20 mins and in the end I approached the desk. The lady avoided eye contact and kept serving and seating new customers. Eventually another server came to the desk and without conversation said wait and then proceeded to shout my first name at the new customers. I said my surname and he said no and repeated my first name in this frustrating comedy of errors. Irked I had to step forward and ask forcefully to clarify if this was a first name or last. At that point the servers Penny dropped and he briskly asked us to follow him without courtesy, introduction or welcome. I asked if he could take our coats which visually seemed to annoy him and off he went to seek some coat hangers. Minutes later he appeared and eventually we were seated in a lovely but cramped spot. We ordered pizza and pasta and had two drinks each. The waiter who took our order and served our food was brilliant but we were left soured by the first experience. When the food came it was nothing special in fact the bolognese wasn’t hot it was warm but deflated I paid the £100 bill and we left. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t visit again because there are plenty of other nice restaurants at that price point which are better. Other than the view we were disappointed
This place is AMAZING! I definitely would come back here
This place is AMAZING! I definitely would come back here again. We got 1 pizza, 1 pasta dish and 10 drinks for 250$. We probably would of spent only 150 if we didn't overdue it on the drinks lol... I'll start with the pros, you just can't beat the view, the waiter was really good, easy reservation, good seats, beautiful restaurant and bar, food came out quick and fresh, dim lighting and so romantic, pizza was delish I would rate that a 3.5 just alone. The only things that I would like to be different when I come back is the pasta was way too tough and needed salt, the bartender was really rude and not friendly at all, and I'm not sure why our drinks were 3x cheaper when we were eating dinner and paid our first bill but then when we moved to the bar he charged 20$ per drink and I was drinking spritzers and my wife had beer... but it's ok lesson learned I wouldn't return to the bar but I would go back to the restaurant most definitely and just stay at the table. I loved it here honestly.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
