Be the first to ReplyLovely...but!
Lovely place. Good food. Fabulous staff. The mediocre star rating is simply to reflect the ruination of the evening by 3 abhorrent drunken , loud and indulgent men on the next table who were utterly ambivalent about their despicable behaviour. Ultimately their voiced conversation about personal gratification in the shower was too much. One of their threesome when challenged continued to behave to the ignorant stereotype he is by being offensive. The message to the restaurant is not to serve more alcohol to people who obviously cannot take it.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal with friends
We enjoyed a nice dinner with friends - good ambiance, food was delicious and drinks reasonably priced. Portions could be bigger, but quality was excellent. Service was friendly. Would definitely return.

Vert friendly and efficient service in an informal setting. There is an open kitchen but as itās in the corridor leading onto the dining room unfortunately you canāt really see in. We chose to eat tapas style and ordered a selection of small plates and large plates. These came with good timing over course of the meal so we had a steady selection of dishes. Towards the end we added a couple more dishes and these came in good time. Everything was good and difficult to pick out a favourite. The enormous slice of Gorgonzola needed four or us to finish it at the end. Ā£50 a head including drinks felt like good value.
Be the first to ReplyBetter food elsewhere and over priced
Food wasnāt as described on the menu, try to over charge on wine, terrible service, had to ask for cutlery on several occasions. Over priced. Local restaurants that had been on my list to try, wish it had stayed on the list.
Be the first to ReplyThe COLD Rooms might be more apt!
I wasnāt familiar with the restaurant prior to booking and kept mistakingly calling it the ācold roomsā prior to arriving (premonition) it looked cosy and billed as a ābarbecueā restaurant with open coal grills, the sample menu seemed suitable although limited. First impressions itās a lovely space, a heritage building, with a bar at the front and the open kitchen facing the passageway into the restaurant at the rear, looked and smelled exciting! The restaurant was bright with approx 10 tables of varying size, but quite empty at 7.30pm on Saturday evening. It was a cold and rainy evening so the table next to the fireplace was perhaps a mistake as it was extremely drafty. I was doing sober October for MacMillan and my partner decided he would join me in having a soft drink as he didnāt fancy any of the lager on offer. The menu is separated into small plates and large plates, sides and desserts. This caused me some confusion as I didnāt realise they meant starters and mains - I SHOULD HAVE ASKED, as the served did did if I had any questions, Iāve become so accustomed to tapas style dining these days I made an assumption. Neither of us eat meat, but we do eat fish, I donāt eat mussels and the main fish dish was mussels. We decided on a few dishes we would eat together 3 small plates and 3 sides. Mackerel, Burrata and Sourdough, BBQ potatoes , a gratin of greens and a salad. The sourdough and herb butter was brought out first. The herb butter was bland, didnāt taste very herby and lacked salt. Disappointing but it would hopefully be fine when the rest of our food arrived. The mackerel and burrata came next, both looked spectacular but thatās when I realised that perhaps this was a āstarters and mainsā situation and not āsmall and large platesā kinda set up! Then we realised the mackerel was raw, not undercooked, served raw, which is no problem to me, but my partner took a mouthful and contain his shock. āI thought this is supposed to be a barbecue place?ā No mention of it being raw in the menu, perhaps weāre not supposed to know? We swapped plates, the bread was very useful. The salad would have been great with the burrata, which was delicious, but we were still waiting for that, and the potatoās and the greens. As we awkwardly waited for the delivery of our sides I paid a visit to the bathroomā¦ so cold, and didnāt feel particularly clean either tbh I love the idea of using the old station loos but needs a little bit more design thought than putting plants in the urinals to prevent use, a good deep clean and some heat would definitely help! Back in the restaurant our sides arrived and when the waiter delivered realised we didnāt have anything else kindly brought us some empty plates to eat our sides haha which were lovely although the gratin was very bland and lacked salt againā¦ dessert was really good, no mistakes made ordering that, the pear tart tartin and ricotta ice-cream was delicious. We didnāt leave hungry, we cleared out plates, apart from the herb butter and a bit of half chewed raw mackerel but the Ā£70 bill felt excessive for what we had. The cold dining area and freezing toilets were a result of the season but it only going to get colder in coming months so definitely needs addressed. I should mention that the waiting staff were perfectly lovely, attention not intrusive. We didnāt complain as the ordering errors were ours and I found it quite amusing tbh but my partner was a bit grumpy about the raw mackerel and Iāve still not heard the end of that!
Be the first to ReplySuper variety of dishes all executed perfectly
We live locally but haven't been for awhile, had a super lunch with some different options that were very good. A vegetarian bean and pickled beetroot salad with pesto, a delightful buttermilk fried whole quail with celeriac and then shared the pork main with sides of potatoes and salad. Service was excellent as usual and the drinks, particularly the margarita was delicious. We won't wait so long to return again!

Excellent food and friendly service. Very good varied menu at reasonable prices. We had a selection of small plates and 2 mains between four of us. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplySuperb.
I ate at the counter this evening and got exactly what I hoped for: elegant, delicious food and efficient, unpretentious service. Head chef Ben is an exceptionally talented gentleman. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyGreat no nonsense restaurant
Restaurant located under Peckham Rye station, on Peckham Rye. Nice decor with an open grill with seating at front with a nice dining room out back. You must use the restrooms..the original station restrooms funkily utilised. Food and service is excellent. A set menu for Ā£49 was unbelievably good value with Ā£12 extra for the exceptional sirloin rib. Each course well presented and full of flavour. Staff and manager super attentive and no nonsense service. Drinks and wine reasonably priced. Great dining experience highly recommend a visit.
