Came here to celebrate Valentine's Day and an anniversary
Came here to celebrate Valentine's Day and an anniversary with my partner. We came on the 13th instead of the 14th as we did not want to be restricted by their pre-fixe menu that they offered for V-day. Personally, I believe we saved a lot of money this way and actually got to try all the things we wanted to eat! Because it was a Tuesday, the restaurant was not too crowded and we were seated by the window. The restaurant itself is dimly lit and has a minimalist scandinavian type of vibe. The lychee martini tasted light and sweet with little alcohol taste but did the job of getting me a bit tipsy. My partner got the Domokase and I got the Sushi & Handroll course and the Hot udon w washu beef. Both met and exceeded quality and presentation expectations. Price-wise I think that for what you are getting everything is fairly priced, if not a great deal. We shared a matcha cheesecake for dessert and although good, it was small. I booked our reservation on Resy and indicated we were celebrating an anniversary, and they brought us complementary champange at the end of our meal, which was very nice!

Service was great. Our server Josh was really great and gave us some good pointers on same selection and how it is served. The food was great. We really enjoyed the sushi and the Korean fried chicken. I strongly recommend.

Had both lunch & dinner entrees and meal sets here and they're all so good. Miso salmon is a must have. My friend thought the domakase was not of great value if you had the expectation of an omakase. But still tastes are very good overall.

What an experience! I wanted to try Omakase for the first time and this place did not disappoint. My partner and I got the cheeper Omakase option (10 sushi's plus a dessert and two small plates). The vibes were immaculate. The sushi was so fresh. Our waiter was so nice. I had lost my voice earlier in the week and our waiter went to his car to get cough drops. That man literally dropped everything to get me 3 cough drops from his car. The sushi chef also noticed I was taking photos of all the sushi and was super sweet. He arranged my sushi with extra care so I could get a best photo. The staff that I encountered here, would bring me back! 10/10 all around. The parking was about 11 ish dollars for one hour.

The service was great - quick but not rushed. The cocktails & food are amazing. The tuna nigiri was some of the best I've had. The uni hand roll was also amazing, but next time I'll get more nigiri as that was by far the star of the show. The octopus, pork belly and black miso cod were all delicious! Would absolutely get the cod again.

The five handrolls for $35 is a great deal! If you get the handrolls outside of their initial list, they will only charge you the difference. Here are the five that I liked: * Shrimp tempura, mango salsa, and sweet soy glaze * Scallop, spicy mayo, yuzu, and tobiko * Blue crab, garlic aioli, and sauteed onion * Miso black cod, Kabocha puree, and pickled mustard seeds * Lobster and apple mayo For dessert, I had the black sesame panna cotta and it was good as well. Take-out is available, although the handrolls are not available for take-out. Service is fast, so you might as well sit down and enjoy the food.

Did the OMAKASE and it was super yummy with the exception of one of the chefs choice sushi rolls, overall everything tasted fresh. But 10/10 food and vibe

Went with the omakase and almost everything we ate was super delicious and fresh tasting. We didn't feel rushed even though they told us there was a time limit and another reservation was going to be coming in. Drinks were good but or server didn't really come around to ask if we wanted more. I would definitely come back here and it was worth the price. I left super full!
Be the first to ReplyBest sushi in JC, bar none.
Cannot recommend this place enough. Staff is very friendly as well
Be the first to ReplyAwesome sushi.
DomoDomo had the best salmon sushi I have had. It was so flavorful and melted like butter. I got the sushi and handroll dinner. It started with a himachi in a mustard sauce. Very good. First time having mustard with sushi but it was delicious. Next came 9 piece assorted sushi. Everything was delicious but the salmon was my favorite. There was also amberjack, flounder, tuna, and many more. The toppings on each were really good. Ended with a yellowtail handroll and spicy salmon. Yellowtail was good but salmon stole the show. Spicy, melt in your mouth with a great crunch of potato chip. Great way to end the meal. Great location. Easy to get to in Jersey City. Good prices for sushi. If I am back in town again I will come back!

We make our own soy sauce. More menu items coming soon (like stone bowl bibimbap and Korean bone broths and jjigaes)!! Opened Valentine's Day.

While their service and hand rolls were good enough their hot dishes were not great to put it lightly.Grilled octopus came with nothing else besides some of the worst sauteed mushrooms I've had, for some reason they mixed a little bit of maitakes with a bunch of button mushrooms. And on top was a fried potato fritter disk that provided nothing but the taste of crispy oil, no salt. And for the octopus while grilled really well, tasted like just an octopus leg. No seasoning found whatsoever, not even salt here either. So youre paying 25 for an alright plain piece of octopus.Korean chicken was alright, kinda just tasted like general tsos tbh. It was also not really crispy at all. The pickles veggies that came with it I think might've been better than the chicken itself. Also didn't come with much. 20 for 5 pieces of average chicken. Probably would've been better to just buy a back of Tyson chicken strips from Costco for 15. Those taste way better. The black cod was just inedible, the miso sauce was so sweet, my friends and I couldn't decide if it was pancake batter or melted vanilla custard icecream. The chawanmushi was alright. Says snow crab but don't expect more than a dusting of it that you can't even taste. If you want to eat some pretty good hand rolls that are also kinda over priced in a concrete box of a place, and want to destroy your wallet for below average hot food this is the place for you. Probably will never be back again, and probably won't try their NYC place. Reminded me while I usually just cook myself.
Be the first to ReplyHad take out for two from this spot.
The sushi selection was very good. Will try dining in at this place soon!
Be the first to ReplyMake a reservation and be prepared for a fantastic meal.
We've gone with groups of 6 or 8 and the service is good and efficient. We start with the hand rolls, octopus and dumplings to share. There is a nice selection of entrees/bentos and the portions are generous. Everyone leaves happy after the meal.

8.5/10 rounded upVibesYou enter to a relatively small seating area with simple yet elegant modern design in a high rise building. It was bustling at our reservation at 9pm a a ThursdayFoodFried chicken and radish- amazing light layer of sweet savory sauce on a thinly breaded crunchy morsel of heaven. The pickled and non pickled radish gave it balance with the acid.Hand rolls- my favorite was the miso cod, highly recommend the 5 piece handroll set. All of the rolls I really enjoyed. The spicy salmon with crunch on top was the least interesting to me but that's in a scale of 7-10/10. It's a little messy so if you're on a first date and want to look dainty, wouldn't recommend this choice unless you're both getting it.Shared this with my bf and we were perfectly satisfied. DrinksVery impressive sake list- we chose the medium sized one (jinko something?) and it was wonderful but we forgot to take a picServer was very busy so it took a while to get our order in but once the order was submitted, it was pretty quick to get our food. Very kind wait staff.

The fish is fresh, the Uni was wonderful and overall a fun experience. I liked the nigiri more than the taco shaped hand rolls - to me they were messy and awkward. Definitely worth trying out if you are looking for different and creative sushi.

My order was the Hand Roll Course and it was delicious! Made reservations before going (just in case) on a Thursday afternoon and was sat immediately but there were definitely enough seats to walk-in. My food came out within 5-10 minutes after ordered and it was really good! I am very used to eating at AYCE sushi restaurants where typically quantity over quality, but the quality of the fish was amazing! I wanted to keep ordering more! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, but parking is difficult. Parked at a nearby parking deck and paid $17 for the roughly 1.5-2 hours I was there. Would recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThis is the place I tell everyone about, literally.
Back in the day my boyfriend went to the location in Manhattan and was amazed, so when we found out we have one near home in Jersey City - we ran there. I love the Omakase, it's my go to!The hand rolls are to die for, my favorite one is with Scallop!

We got the Domokase, and overall the food was good and the portions were larger than expected. The food did lean towards fusion, so I wouldn't recommend this for people looking for authentic Japanese omakase, but it was a nice and filling dinner! My only critiques relate to the omakase sushi chef. The 8-piece nigiri course seemed very rushed. There were times when he put the the next piece on our plates before we had even finished eating the current. There was also basically no interaction with the chef. Each piece was presented abruptly and with unclear names. It was hard to hear the chef over the restaurant's music, and he seemed to lose patience each time we asked him to repeat the what the nigiri was. Other omakase chefs I've seen have been very delicate with the food and treat it as an art, but the one we had at Domodomo seemed to be making the sushi like it was just a job he was unenthusiastic about. Overall, I think the Domokase course is great for those looking for a filling omakase meal with good Japanese-fusion food, who aren't expecting the chef to play a big part in the experience. I don't think sitting at the bar made much of a difference.- Seasonal oysters: Tasty! The one with the raspberry foam was interesting. It did taste a bit random, but it wasn't bad.- Spicy tuna cone, white fish crudo, menchi katsu: The spicy tuna cone was my favorite out of these three in this course. I think there was a bit of chocolate at the bottom tip of the cone, which was a nice surprise. The pork ball katsu was good too and pretty filling.- Kabayaki (miso black cod): the portion of cod was larger than expected. I thought it was slightly overcooked (drier and a bit chewier), but it wasn't bad.- 8-piece sushi: The sushi was good. The fish was great quality, but I think the pieces could have had a little bit less rice. The rice was cooked very well though. Some pieces we had include fatty tuna, scallop with pesto, seared salmon, and uni. - Uni wagyu handroll: I don't think I would order this again. Although it wasn't bad, I don't think it was worth the price. It tasted very basic, but at this point in the dinner, I was already pretty full. I also remember this having a little bit more rice than I would've like, too.

This sushi house is amazing! I have been here several times and the food is always consistent. If you're looking for a place where the prices are low...This isn't for you. I would consider this mid to upper range in pricing, but upper in the quality of the food. The waitresses are always very pleasant and super attentive. The environment is a bit tight in Jersey City, but still clean and trendy looking. Starters are enough to share, while you may want to be sure of theAmount of sushi you can really eat you don't waste any due to the cost. My daughter always orders the Domokase which runs about $100 respectively. But I prefer the sushi hand roll course for about half the cost. Drinks are not great, but you can always let your waiter know how you like them. I like the presentation of the food a lot. And all of the waiters will let you know exactly what's on your plate. So if you like good sushi in NJ, stop by and sample some of the tasty rolls here.

i made reservations for a large group of 10 people for my birthday back in january. the managment was very responsive and easy to communite with for the most part. on a saturday night, they only allow a large group of a max of 10 people. also, they only allow reservations for large groups before 530 pm on fridays to sundays. there was a snow storm which caused me to reschedule my event, and luckily they let me have an 8 pm reschedule. the management was great dealing with me and i know my group was large and they handled us well.only 2 of us did the domokase, which was great because the whole table was capable of doing other options. i was worried we would be locked in. i think the omakase is well worth the $97, the fish is as fresh as it will get, the flavors are unique and pair well with every texture, and lastly, since i do not eat pork or beef, they allowed me to make adjustments to the hot dishes. i had a spicy yellowtail hand roll and a fatty tuna hand roll. to be honest, these are what DOMO is known for and i was not impressed. i was more impressed with the nigiri and sushi. i would come back just for that and do the nigiri pairing menu. service was okay, they defienltly handled us well. but it was slow at times. i feel there were alot of down time between dishes and drinks. the place was packed, so maybe things were overwelmed that night. i would come back for a date and take part in more dishes.
Be the first to ReplyA great upscale sushi spot in the jersey city area.
I've only done takeout twice from them and haven't had the chance to dine in yet, but the space does look beautiful. Take out has a very convenient window on the side of the restaurant that you can pick up your food from. Food - their sushi is fresh and you can taste the difference in the food. I've gotten the 16 piece hand roll set for 27$ (29$ with tax) which comes with edamame and cabbage salad. My favorite rolls were the salmon avocado roll and the shrimp tempura roll which had spicy mango on top of it. The spicy tuna crunch was good but has a weird texture as the crunch gets a little soggy if you wait too long. I also got the snow crab which I wish I skipped as it was the imitation crab. The set comes with wasabi, ginger and dressing for the cabbage salad. The wasabi is not as spicy as usual wasabi is. Will be back again if I want to treat myself to a good sushi dinner.

I went there several time recently: sometimes had reservations; sometimes walk-in. No waiting time for me. But once was extremely dark in store. Tried NY strip set (medium rare), Udon set, fried chicken set, octopus, several square hand rolls. My favorite dish so far was this NY strip. It was juicy and tender. The sauce reminded me of Braised Sea Cucumber with Scallion in a good way. Little potato & radish absorbed the oily feelings. The sparking point for this dish was sweet garlic paste mixed with cubed salt. It emphasizes the freshness of the steak. BTW, DKW, I feel steak was better on Friday than Saturday.I also liked the soup of udon & their sweet soy sauce.

Great place for lunch! The inside is nice and bright, the staff is nice and attentive. We made a reservation for 4 in advance.3 of us ordered the Sushi & Handroll Course, one ordered the Bulgolgi Set Menu. Great portions and lovely presentation. The 10 pieces of seasonal sushi were all amazingly sweet and fresh. I was surprised how good the cabbage salad is. The bulgolgi set is a large portion, came with soup, cabbage salad, edamame and potato croquette and rice. So glad there's a location here! I highly recommend it.
