Faun Reviews from The Last Year
Rude hostess.
She had a very bad attitude. We went across the street to a great Thai restaurant called Nourish. Much better environment than faun.

My bartender Chris was amazing, everything he put up was gold!!!!!! His hospitality was bar none, perfect. Food was 90% on on its way to become excellent, still a little work to be done. Checked out the garden after, so lovely!
Amazing food and wine--and exceptional hospitality
We had our wedding at Faun, and the restaurant made it an incredibly warm, welcoming, and beautiful event. The back yard looked great, and the food was spectacular as usual. (We'd never had the focaccia there, but everyone was knocked out by it and said it was the best they'd ever had.) We go there regularly and are always impressed by the fresh, seasonal menu and the impressive wine program. Thanks to their good taste, we often discover a wine that we want to find and stock up on. The staff members were so gracious to us and our guests. They're consistently welcoming and knowledgeable.

The back yard is gorgeous and the hand-made pasta is not to be missed. The menu otherwise didn't blow my socks off given the price point, but it was good and definitely worth a visit for the ambiance in summer.
I hosted a baby shower for 12 people- lunch in the garden
I hosted a baby shower for 12 people- lunch in the garden in the rear. The food was amazing and the staff was fantastic. Cannot say enough nice things! Great restaurant all around!
Brunch was a surprising disappointment.
The quality of the food is excellent. For brunch though, the portions are small, almost measly, and the menu too short. We were left feeling hungry but didn't want to order another entree. There were no appetizers available, very few side orders (potatoes, bacon, and sausage) , and no desserts (we were encouraged to order the waffle entree, a testament I guess to how small it was). Also no pastry or bread available for the table. What I hoped would be a pleasant relaxed and satisfying Mother's Day brunch felt instead like a quick bite at a cafe. Not what you're led to expect!
The service is lovely and the quality of the food is good.
The garden is very pleasant even on a cool day. But--and as I've been there before I know it's not a fluke--the portions are stingy and the presentation so minimal it's strange.
Disappointed.
The food was pretty good, but lacked flavor. Portions were too small for the price. The service was great though. I would not go again.
Beautiful spot with excellent service and great food.
Faun first caught my attention when they advertised white asparagus on their board. I LOVE white asparagus and just needed to try it. I made a reservation (which I'd highly recommend you do, at least on the weekend) and we had the best time. They have a beautiful patio in the back, the service was incredible attentive and we felt so pampered. It's not the cheapest place, but you definitely get your money's worth. Would highly recommend this place for a date night or a special occasion!
Hands down my favorite restaurant.
Always perfect service; delicious and interesting food; great cocktails, wine, and amaros. Wonderful brunch. But the best thing is the warm, cozy ambiance--inside in the winter and outside in the lovely garden in the summer.
Mixed review.
Great location, the outdoor patio is very nice. We had a brunch reservation for four, plus a baby and stroller. Greeter looked very unhappy to see us, not a warm greeting in the slightest. Then he wanted to put us at a table with two benches in a nook by the window. It would have been uncomfortable and tight without a baby, looked miserably uncomfortable. The back of the restaurant had several four tops sitting empty. We requested one. Lots of muttering, conferring and then we were led very grudgingly to a better table. Huge turnoff. Now- the food. Soft scrambled eggs were tasteless and the portion tiny, some tiny mushy tasteless potatoes were hidden underneath. Garnishes were lots of cilantro and crushed potato chip flakes. A huge piece of beautiful brioche accompanied the dish. 1 out of 5 for the eggs, 5 out of 5 for the bread, I don't eat bread so I left very hungry but my dining companions said it was buttery and good. Eggs with sausage were better looking and tasting and at least were a full meal. Same for the smoked salmon. I probably won't return mostly because of the attitude. Not sure why some people in service professions seem to hate the people that they are in business for.
First of all, if you are coming here for big portions you
First of all, if you are coming here for big portions you are in the wrong establishment, you pay for the quality of the food here not the quantity. It shows that the chef has put his heart in every dish. I had the 3 course meal which is a great deal, yeah the plates are small but you get 3 different meals and they are all well made. I had the hamachi crudo it was a 10/10, I followed that with the leek tortellini they were incredible the best bite I have had in a long time 10/10, then I had the duck which has a great sauce but was a little undercooked for my taste. I just prefer my duck to be fully cooked. The service was phenomenal, the ambiance was charming and cozy.
Like Panic! At The Disco, I had high high hopes.
I know many folks that love Faun, and my dining companion referred to Faun as an old standby...unfortunately, we were both a bit disappointed overall. The Good: I love the room. It's cozy, and well-appointed. The light is beautiful, and the entire staff is excellent. Seriously lovely people. My cocktails were stellar, and my friend was happy with the wine. The Bad: We ordered the cacio e pepe mafaldini for $24. This is (supposed to be) a simple but supremely flavorful pasta. It's one of my favorites, usually, but there was not nearly enough cacio, and not nearly enough pepe. It was sadly bland, and tasted more of cream, oddly, than anything else. Worst of all, it was laughably small. Like, two or three bites small. I have come to terms with being charged $24 for such a simple dish with very affordable ingredients in this part of Brooklyn, but I can't abide it (1) being so very, very tiny AND (2) not tasting good. The Fine: Our Caesar salad was quite pretty with the addition of radicchio to brighten up the color, but just fine. It lacked...Caesar. I rolled with the pork collar as a main, for $38. It was gorgeous and well-cooked, but fairly small, and unfortunately underseasoned. The sauce was underseasoned as well. The carrots on the plate were phenomenal, however. That sort of genius makes me think we came in on an off night, and I hope to come back for the sort of meal that has made this such a popular spot with many people whose palates I trust. The Ugly: I am fortunate enough that I can drop $250 on dinner for two on occasion. I realize that is a luxury. However, I don't love walking out underwhelmed, and also a bit hungry.

We took a leap and chose Faun for my brother in-law's birthday. It was a risk that paid off. I have a new favorite spot. The staff is incredibly nice and organized. Everything felt smoothly running from the moment we walked in. The place itself is cozy, with plenty of room for our party of five. Every table had good placement somehow. Lighting and mood was awesome. And the best part: the food. We ordered a number of appetizers and every one was amazing. I had the wagyu and it practically melted in my mouth. I can't wait to go back.
great ambiance but food choices very limited and pricey.
This was my second visit and will not go back.

We walked in on a Thursday night with no reservation and were seated on their outside patio (don't worry, the heaters are good enough that you are comfortable in December). The restaurant was really busy so we were hopeful for the evening. We looked at the menus and nothing really grabbed us but we were thinking that maybe the menu was giving a basic description and we would be impressed when the food arrived. The appetizers arrived (croquettes and tuna sashimi) and they were decidedly average. They lacked any real flavour, the croquettes were lumpy and everything needed a heap more seasoning. We were disappointed but still holding out for the mains, after all this place was pretty much full. The mains arrived and again there was a complete lack of seasoning. I had the beef check ragu and it was so close to being great but it lacked salt and pepper. My partner had the monkfish and he did say this was tasty. We had dessert, chocolate olive oil cake and cheese and these were just alright. The wine list here is very good though and we enjoyed 2 bottles of nice red wine. Our total bill came to $300 (although $100 of that was wine) and we think for this price point the food is lacking. The service was great and the staff were lovely. However the chef just needs to be less afraid of seasoning. For us we won't be back again and think there are better value/quality places in the city.
Food is consistently great and the service is good.
Would definitely recommend this place.
Pretty good food and drinks at Faun! It was a nice meal
Pretty good food and drinks at Faun! It was a nice meal overall, and a good deal for a slightly elevated dining experience. We started with the crudo, and it was okay. The yellowtail itself tasted fresh, but the flavors from the rest of the dish didn't stand out too much. The mains were solid - the maniche was delicious, with great pasta and melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek in every bite. The mushroom dish was also surprisingly good, very savory and balanced with the sunchokes. The dessert was a letdown, unfortunately. The cake was a little dry, and tasted very ordinary. Drinks were excellent, the cocktails were unique and well made. Overall, a nice experience, and elevated dining without too crazy of a price tag. Worth checking out!
I had a reservation at Faun at 530PM on a Saturday night.
My brother and I were running late and I appreciated the fact that I could send a text informing them of that. They were very accommodating and understanding. It was pretty cold but they had three tables seated outside and all seemed comfortable under the heaters! Several couples that had young children also came by and it was nice to see a more upscale NY restaurant be a place were families can enjoy a meal as well. The food was delicious! We shared everything; Focaccia with Whipped Ricotta was divine! I want to try the olive tapenade next time! Butter Lettuce Salad was also delicious, I'm not even sure what was on it but we were dipping our leftover focaccia in that too. We both said we wished they had whatever that was as a dip instead of the ricotta! Chicken Breast & Stew was superb! I loved the kale and the chicken was juicy, not fatty, and cut beautifully. Last but not least we split the cavatelli pasta - this was by far our favorite dish of the evening. After we got the check the pen exploded all over my hands! There was a line for the bathroom so I told the host and other employees rushed to get me a wet napkin so I could clean off my hands. The urgency with which they helped and cared was evidence of how truly wonderful this place is! The lost star is because our waitress was very short with us. There was hardly a smile and it felt almost robotic. I get that some days we're not in the mood to be overly friendly, especially as a waitress when you're speaking with so many people, but a smile and a liiiiittttttle bit of personality goes a long way. I will 100% be back! And maybe will come by solo to sit at the bar as the atmosphere was stunning!

Hi Community,
I am new to this site and just recently bought a reservation here. I noticed that on the reservation page, it is booked under a random name and a virtual email address.
I can't find any button to change either the name or the email for this reservation I bought. So, should I just say that random name when I arrived at the restaurant? Not really sure about the procedures.

Hey There -
Best practice is to check under the name of the reservation you bought it under.
You can use a service call transfer serivce (the little bell icon next to your reservation after unlocking it) but that does come with the risk at some high profile restaurants that your reservation gets cancelled.
