Fidel's Little Mexico Solana Beach Reviews from The Last Year

I've been coming here over 30 years and my family even longer! Oswaldo is always on top of things and just a treat to see! We had family in from out of town and he was on it with everyone's specific requests. Thank you Fidel's for always bringing me back to my childhood and thank you Oswaldo for being such a great help!
I just got 3 burritos from here and was so disappointed.
They were so soggy, the carne asada is chewy and flavorless. Honestly very bad.
Not quite fast food but moves really quick!
Our family has been coming here for 30 years. It’s family style with plenty to choose and so many various margaritas it’s mind boggling!
Good food, they love cheese.
Pretty good house Margaritas. Service is hit and miss. Atmosphere is good best in summer on the patio. Can get really crowded and wait time can be long

Came here to grab dinner and it was pretty busy for a Thursday night. I got the chicken enchiladas and I didn't realize the enchilada would be encased in chicken skin. The peppers and cheese inside were bland so relied heavy on the flavor from the chicken skin. Overall, it felt very heavy. The rice didn't have much flavor and the beans were decent. Service was not great as our server kept forgetting things.
Food so so, prices high, poor service
Had heard this was a good Mexican restaurant near the high school. So the family, (nine of us) went for dinner. We were all very disappointed. The food was so so, several people said their dinner wasn’t even warm. Mixups were made after being ordered for 3 of us. ( wrong order, side of guacamole forgotten- waiter apologized asked if I still wanted it, I said yes. Never did get it). Took 10-15 min after requesting refills on beverages.

We came here for a family dinner and there were about 8 of us. We didn't have to wait and they were even kind enough to give us our own little party room. Service was excellent. The food was okay, we ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and I wasn't superin love with them. The red salsa that actually came out first was very very spicy (fine with me) but I had to warn my 5-year-old niece sitting next to me. I ordered a beer and my boyfriend and his mom ordered margaritas which they both seemed too really love. Music was very loud and the speakers kept cutting in and out which was really distracting. Overall experience was just okay, I think next time we will try somewhere else.
Fidel's has HUGE servings so there's plenty to go around
Fidel's has HUGE servings so there's plenty to go around for everyone. I recommend the chimichanga, always comes out piping hot and the meat inside is never dry. I tried the fajitas the other day and unfortunately does NOT come out on the sizzling skillet like other places. The meat was kind of hard and dry and there was not really much of it on the plate. I also tried the queso fundido and felt like the cheese could have been heated up more. It was kind of hard in the bowl and was not stretchy at all. I had to use a knife to cut it when it's supposed to be more dippable ?? Tried the flan and it was very dense and very sweet, didn't sit so well with me. I like the vibe of the place, it's actually bigger than you think. You can also bring large parties of people here which is nice too. Staff is always friendly and they are quick to take your order. Overall, I think Fidel's is definitely 3.5 stars, a little more than OK but not THAT good. I've come here often and have to say the best part about this place are the margaritas and happy hour specials. Otherwise, food is just OK.

We thought this was some of the BEST Mexican food we've ever had! White chicken meat in the enchilada with great sauce. A big beef taco with fresh toppings .. Assorted appetizer plate was awesome ..We only wish we lived closer!
Extreme disappointment
Over the years we have been here is several times and it was good. This last time it was not good at all outside of the chips and salsa. My wife ordered a margarita and when we saw it looked like it was almost clear. Not only was it lacking the color of a good margarita, it was lacking flavor as well. Neither my wife or could eat more than a few bites of our food. She ordered a Chile relleno and the cheese was not melted/cooked on the inside. Sent it back, and it came back burned. I had the pork Chile Colorado, and it just wasn't for me. To top it off it was way over priced, the reviewer who said it was only $$ is way off on the pricing. Sadly we won't be going back for another meal.

The food was very good! The margarita selection is just what I needed and the food came so fast! This is a very spacious but also cute restaurant.
Food was excellent and service was good, prices seem fair
Food was excellent and service was good, prices seem fair considering the economy. Ww certainly recommend Fidel's. Frankly, even good Mexican Restaurants are becoming few and far between.
Food tasted great, i love the service of the waiter.
The whole decor was amazing, I highly recommend stopping by this place for a quick lunch.
Worth the $$
Opted for Fidel’s because it was within walking distance of where we were staying. For 3 of us: dinner plates (plus 1 Margarita) & tip was just over $100. Being from Northern CA, we knew eating out anywhere in this region was going to be costly. BUT, we were blown away by the flavor and cook of our meals. My husband had Chile Verde; done in a way we’ve never seen before - so delicious and fresh. Also had the carnitas; came in large chunks of meat with sliced onion and cilantro - perfect. Awesome flour tortillas. Our Server and all other Staff were extremely friendly and food was served rather quickly (we went for a “late” dinner at about 7:30pm).
Margarita!
The food in the location is excellent. I recommend the Cadillac. Margarita! We are lucky they had a fantastic mariachi band playing live.
Cute place with great ambiance!
Large portions. Love the salsa! Super cute place. Love the ambiance! The service was impeccable! Jose Luis and the whole team took such great care of us. We were there around 5pm on a Sunday. No waiting. We sat inside. I think we had at least five different people stop by our table - to drop off chips and salsa + water; to take our order; to drop off our food; to pick up our plates; to refill our drinks. I had the nopales with chicken. It was okay. We don't live in the area and might try somewhere else next time.
