Can confidently say that we had the best meal of our lives in Guy Savoy. We were a bit skeptical if this place would live up to our expectations given the high price tag even for a 3 Michelin star and our high expectations, but it ended up being everything we hoped for and more! Pretty much after every single dish, Andrew and I would look at each other and say "wow that was the best lobster / caviar / truffle / veal etc. I've ever had!". Every single thing was cooked to perfection; some of the off-the-menu side dishes can easily be on the tasting menu list at some other restaurants. Although the chef used a lot of heavy materials or ingredients like caviar, truffle, and foie gras, nothing is overdone; rather, they complement the original flavors of the dishes perfectly. There was no set wine pairing so we went with the sommelier's recommendations by the glass, and every glass was simply divine and went with each dish perfectly. What really impressed me was that the progression of the 13-course menu was perfect. Despite the extremely good entrees, the main dish was amazing and truly the highlight of the meal. This is different than a lot of other tasting menu places we've been where the main dish paled in comparison to the entrees. There were 5 desserts and a whole dessert cart at the end so that was definitely a delight too. The whole dinner took us 5 hours and needless to say we left extremely happy - and full! The decor and the setting was quite to my liking - understated dark interiors with classic Parisian mouldings and tasteful modern art, while overlooking the Seine. The restaurant is located in a building that resembles a former palace and entering via the grand staircase was quite the experience. Service was on point and seamless. They saw very quickly that Andrew doesn't eat foie gras and brought out an amazing truffle porridge quickly. Although I will say service was a bit cold; not sure if it's because they didn't speak English well enough to chitchat with us. We definitely heard more conversations between guests and waiters in other tables nearby - all in French of course. Overall a magnificent experience. Highly recommend!
