I visited the honor bar at Montecito on Monday June 20, 2022 along with my family at 5:30 in afternoon for a quick dinner. We were a party of 4 plus my 18 months old granddaughter. We were seated inside near the bar with high noise level. We ordered a round of drinks plus some appetizer and entree for our table and our server was H. Bailey. My granddaughter was in playful mode and was playing and talking a little louder than usual but no crying or anything to disturb other guests. after 30 mins in middle of our dinner the hostess walks up to the table and say the baby is too loud and she is disturbing other guests and if we could take her outside for a walk or do something about it. I didn't say anything at first but let the server know that was unacceptable for hostess to come to our table and say that. She was not crying, she was not loud to trigger a response from her or her manager and the bar was too loud to begin with. She later came to apologize for the behavior and i said what are apologizing for and her reply was because you're upset. I have never been treated anywhere in last 30 years in my life nor i have ever treated anyone being in restaurant industry for over 40 years like that. That is shameful policy and conduct on part of your staff and manager. later the manager came to the table emphasizing his decision that we are not child friendly restaurant and you should have reviewed our web site before come in. I don't believe Marissa Bloom the real manager was there and the assistance manager poorly handled this situation. our bill was $181.62 and i left $30.00 tip for H. Bailey because she was the only one kept apologizing for this conduct. So sad to be discriminated against because we spoke a different language and had a happy baby with us at your restaurant. We are repeated visitor at your other restaurants in Orange County and i am sad to say we will not go back again. Here is the corporate response; Thank you for writing, Mark, and we apologize for your disappointment. We do consider the atmosphere in the restaurant an integral part of our guests’ experience, and will proactively address any excess volume in order to preserve the ambiance for all and If a small child or baby's volume is a distraction at our manager’s discretion in the dining room, we will suggest taking them outside as a solution but it is never our intention to offend. We also want to assure you this applies to all our guests and speaking a different language is not a factor whatsoever. We regret if our approach was misconstrued and are sorry if the conversation was not well delivered or received. Thank you again for reaching out and the opportunity to respond. Kind regard's Jessica Treadway You judge …..,,,,
