JINYA Ramen Bar - North Bethesda Kensington Reviews from The Last Year
Daniel was fantastic.
He managed 4 kids and 4 adults like a pro. What a great guy. Food was excellent!
Went for a late weekday lunch, not too many people there.
Hostess was friendly and cleaned up a table so we could sit at the booth. We both ordered the lunch special with the Jinya ramens. The crispy chicken lacked flavor and should've came with a dipping sauce. The spicy tuna taco was the same, a little better after squeezing the lime. Pork gyoza were standard frozen ones like the ones you buy at Costco, but it was ok. The ramens were brought out shortly after the appetizers and by the time we ate them were lukewarm at best. Not sure if it was us, but I did snap the photo as soon as it hit the table and you can already see a film developing on my Tonkotsu ramen, so it had sat out for a bit even before. The Tonkotsu broth was too salty for me, I normally like to drink the broth with the noodles but I couldn't palate more than a spoonful of it. Waiter was also friendly and nice, but I finished my whole cup of water probably 30 mins before we left and not once did he refill it. I wanted to try the extra wide noodles with the Tonkotsu original 2010 ramen but it was just ok, seasoned egg was cooked beautifully tho, probably the best thing in the bowl. I also snapped the photo of the panna cotta as soon as it hit the table and the ice cream was half-melted. Otherwise it had a nice flavor and super smooth texture. I like to try different menu items, but I have to drop it down a star based off this experience.

To start off, the server we had was Mirna, 10/10 customer service. Extremely attentive! Food was amazing. Shrimp tempura is always a good appetizer, this time we tried the Brussel sprouts, supper delicious. Mirna made us feel so welcomed, from the moment we walked in we knew we would be in good hands. Thanks for your amazing customer service!

Best pork gyoza I've ever had! The house gyoza sauce is delicious, just the right amount of heat. Our server Daniel was very attentive and friendly

We ordered: Crispy chicken appetizer - very crispy and yummy Tonkotsu Spicy (mild) - not as spicy as I was hoping, so I added more spice to it. It wasn't as flavorful as other ramen's I've tried (even at another Jinya). Also, I thought there were more toppings. Tonkotsu Black - my husband got this. The broth's pork flavor was overpowering. Not particularly something we liked, but maybe other people do. Service was okay overall. We had to ask for water refills and they weren't as attentive as we would have liked. Ambiance was nice overall. We sat inside, as it was too warm to sit outside. Overall, I probably would not return here. Our bill (with tip) was nearly $60, and we were not very satisfied. It seemed pretty expensive for the quality of ramen we received. I would prefer to try another place.
Food is great as always.
I highly recommend the Tokyo Curry and Jinya Bun. Our server Anthony was also very nice.
Service was awesome.
Daniel was really attentive and he made our experience enjoyable. We love the ramen from this spot so coming back and having good service on top was great!

Decided to give this place another shot, and I'm glad we did. We still could not sit inside due to the noise level. Although it wasn't nearly as loud (last time so ear-piercingly loud that a child began shrieking and holding her ears from the loud music), it was still at about an 8.0! It was a nice, warm day, so outside we sat. The appetizers were terrific! Spicy fried shrimp were crunchy and topped with a sauce that had a touch of spice and sweetness. Also loved the spicy tuna tacos. The crispy taco shells were so perfectly fried they had those tiny bubbles you see on good American-style Chinese egg rolls. These babies are packed with a generous amount of spicy tuna. Loved the flavor of the "spicy" in the tuna--not too spicy and had a good balance of salt. The pork bun was incredible. We only got one, but it is large enough to share if having other menu items. The pork was roasted nicely with a sticky sweet soy glaze. Puts a lot of charsui places in the area to shame. I didn't think I'd like the greens in the bun, but they were so tender that they became liquid after the first chew anyway. We got the shrimp wonton ramen and the Black. I don't recommend the shrimp wonton ramen. Very boring flavor, despite looking fiery. The Black ramen was flavorful and filled with umami. While I still prefer Akira's ramen to Jinya's, those appetizers are enough to bring me back very soon and often.
Our waiter, Daniel, served us very well.
His service was smooth, polite and quick. Will definitely be coming back!
