Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen Morristown Reviews from The Last Year
Will not return; and we are well-acquainted with high-end
Will not return; and we are well-acquainted with high-end food establishments, living in NYC, etc. * Pork, raw, refused to refund. Took home and will cook for next day. * Duck-raw. Some pieces of duck were not raw so those were eaten. Tasted good but fatty and not crispy at all. They accidentally brought an extra then told us we could keep it and then at the end of the night told us they "removed" the extra from the bill. * Ordered smashed burger and asked how it was cooked and was told "cooked through bc of the nature of smashed burger". Came rare, gamey and we sent it back. They did a refund. Initially brought the wrong meal to that person. However, that left one without dinner. Since they got it wrong the first time, we had to get the right meal, so that took a long time so when the right burger came and it tasted bad we didn't bother to do another meal; it was already so far into the meal that person would be eating alone. They refunded this. Both burgers were gamey and funky-tasting meat. We sent both back uneaten. 3 guests tried them and all agreed it was not good. Her response..."I guess meat is just personal preference on taste". Again, acting as if we were the problem. * The chicken dish was very good however the greens were inedible with a liquid smoke chemical on them and cold. Sent it back for recooking. Could not eat them again because of the chemical -3 people tried it at the table to ensure I wasn't wrong. Asked for sauce on the side, came with sauce on the chicken. Ate that anyway. * Bass was excellent. * No bread basket is served at this expensive restaurant and instead you order cheddar biscuits if you want bread while you wait for the food. These were delicious, but 2 large biscuits to an order, so for a party of 6-7 you would need to order 3 orders. Each order was around $12-14 so you can each have bread. * Two orders came wrong (ordered smash burger and they brought a kids' burger). One person who ordered the bass, got duck. When he told the lead table server it was the wrong order she argued several times that she doesn't get orders wrong. It was his birthday as well. She repeatedly quoted that he ordered that. "I definitely heard you order duck. I know you did, and I don't get these things wrong" I personally heard him order Bass, so it was definitely an error. Not a big deal to us, just fix it, but instead she fixed it with a blaming attitude, telling us "I even asked how you like it and you said I guess medium". He thought she was asking about the fish, though confused why with a sea bass she would ask that, he still answered. In any case, the attitude continued. * In response to the wrong meal she says we ordered which she said was our fault, we reminded her that there was a very loud table in the room. No big deal; Saturday night, party of perhaps 8. We didn't complain or have an issue but mentioned that maybe she didn't hear the right order for the bass because it was so loud. It was excessively loud and we couldn't hear each other. She replied, "Well I'm not going to kick a table out, especially one that spends $1000 here". We never asked to kick out people, we never complained, we merely were saying that perhaps she heard the order wrong since we were blamed repeatedly for ordering wrong. That was the rudest thing to say to us. Simply I'm sorry I may have heard wrong I will replace it would have been sufficient. * Then we brought a cake and they charge $5 to plate the cake. We knew that coming in based on their website which is really obnoxious but we agreed that since their desert menu was so mediocre (and not posted online for us to see in advance), we would bring a cake for the occasion. But instead of cutting the cake they piled the cake in a mess on the plates, as if they didn't have a cake knife or serving spatula. I would have gladly cut the cake and we had a knife, but they required this. As soon as we sat down she said "I see you have a cake; we will gladly cut that for you for $5 a slice". So tacky. * It is insane to spend $500 on a dinner in a place that was so inept. When you come to a place that should be of high caliber they need to be able to take an order (they got 2 dishes wrong), cook it properly (they undercooked 3), and they should buy meat that isn't nasty. They bite their tongues and not chastise the guests for asking that the food come right. We asked that some items come off the bill and they did not remove them all, but they did remove the burger that had funky-tasting meat (3 of us agreed upon tasting it), and they did remove the cake plate charge as a courtesy (we did not complain on the way it was served) when we asked for the pork to come off the menu for being raw which they refused to do. It took an hour to find a parking spot -had to park down by the Green by the far end of the green so if you cannot walk far have someone drop you off. They did hold the table. The chef needs to be replaced as well as the attitude.
Not worth it.
No choices for oysters. Service was not good. Asked three times for drinks to multiple servers. Dinner came out warm. And too salty. Besides that, the inside place looks nice.
Excellent meal!!!! We went to Jockey Hollow's Washington
Excellent meal!!!! We went to Jockey Hollow's Washington Room as a pre-birthday and pre-baby dinner tonight and the service by Corinne and Chris and the team was exceptional! The room is beautiful and overlooks downtown Morristown and a beautiful church/ water. We had the panzanella salad (a must!), the burrata, ricotta snack and for entrees the bass (super yummy) and lamb ragu and then cheesecake and chocolate cake for dessert! Needless to say, we left stuffed but everything was absolutely delicious and it was such a special meal! Drink menu is great too (I work in the industry and was really impressed with their cocktail, wine and zero-proof menu! Really well curated!!) We'll definitely be returning for another celebration or date night and highly recommend Jockey Hollow Club!!
Fabulous setting, great service and excellent menu.
The Vale Mansion setting is something special.
We had a bad waitress and she really ruined the whole
We had a bad waitress and she really ruined the whole experience and it was a special occasion. The drinks were horrible. It was so disappointing because I would never think that a restaurant of this caliber would have such bad drinks. We were planning to come back for their wine tasting night but this whole experience left a bad taste in our mouth and we will not be returning. This place is not comparable to Morea in the city.
Fine food.
Great service. Unique restaurant. Right next door to MPAC. Need I say more?
Beautiful restaurant! Great food! Happy hour is awesome.
Thank you to all the wonderful servers and host who were super courteous! James and Chris and Jose were great while taking care of my husband and I . We had a great time
reservations for new year's eve.
five course tasting menu. the food while good was so small as to be bite size. asked for a french martini with vanilla vodka. told they didn't carry vanilla vodka. ok make with regular vodka. comes out yellow instead of purple color. this is not a french martini. they try two more times and then finally admit they didn't have chambourg and sort of concocted the drink. really? $450 for my husband and me and left hungry.

Came here for my birthday with my family, hoping for a nice filling meal on a cold snowy day. Very hit or miss. The burrata was extremely small- and the server even clarified if it was for the table to share or for an individual. Myself and one other person ordered the braised pork ragout with pastina. Expecting a stew like consistency over a bed of pastina. Instead it was a clear broth soup with fatty pieces of pork, almost no pastina, and big chunks of carrot. It was disappointing because I wanted something filling, not soup, however, even if I had known it was soup, this was not a good soup. The menu should be changed to more accurately describe this dish. My mom had the ravioli, and said they were extremely bland. Others had the scallops and the lamb bolognese which they said were good. Additionally, it was my birthday and we saw another table get a candle in their dessert, mine did not come with a candle but they told me later that it was comped. Not a big deal but weird. Definitely left with no intentions of going back and needless to say I was sad to end my birthday on that note!

I played a wedding at this establishment and we were of course fed. It was absolutely amazing, far better than most "vendor meals" served by other venues. Everything fresh and tasty, served family style, and so much food!! I cannot wait to go back with the wife and sample their menu items, as everything we saw looked amazing.
