noreetuh New York Reviews from The Last Year
The best Hawaiian fusion food I've ever had.
Such a good find. Get the yellowtail musubi, you'll thank me.
I got the wild fish with mochi crust.
The crust was perfect and the flavor was very good. However, the dish was not filling. I wish it came with some sort of carb like pasta or rice. The service was great. Ambiance was also nice, maybe a little dark though.
My friend and I had dinner at Noreetuh on a Saturday night.
We made reservations the day before and were able to get a table. I've never tried Hawaiian food before and I had high expectations after hearing about how good the food was here. I was not too impressed. The food was mediocre. We ordered spicy spam musubi, yellowtail, and spicy tuna tartare musubi. Everything was good but nothing memorable. The portion was also extremely small, everything was finished in one bite. The spicy spam musubi had good sauce but the tuna tartare was very dry and lacking. We ordered the mentaiko spaghetti and garlic shrimp bowl for our mains. My friend really enjoyed her mentaiko spaghetti, it was cooked al dente. I was underwhelmed by the garlic shrimp bowl. There was nothing special about it and it seemed like something that could be made at home. Overall, the ambience was nice and the servers were very nice. But I don't think I'd be back for the food.
*** 3.
5 stars *** This review is only for the spam musubi. On the hunt for the best spam musubi in NYC, I decided to spend $20 getting an order of the spam musubi spicy + spam musubi regular delivered to my house. Pricey, but if it was the best it would be worth it (note that $8 of that cost was delivery, but even so, for the portion size, $6 for 3 pieces is pricey). I found both to be a bit too salty and the spicy really didn't do it for me - it took away from the taste of the spam musubi itself. The regular was good - not the best, and not the worst, but as I mentioned, pricey for what you get. Will continue on my hunt!
Incredible 5/5 experience!! I loved the Korean inspo behind
Incredible 5/5 experience!! I loved the Korean inspo behind some of the dishes as well. The cabbage is excellent - great veggie to get. My fav was the chicken loco moco. The chicken is very tender and not too battered on the outside. The yellowtail musubi was to die for - the hint of yuzu was perfection. Great service and loved the vibes inside as well!
What a memorable dinner! All of the dishes my party ordered
What a memorable dinner! All of the dishes my party ordered were tasty and ones that I'd order again, which isn't often. The tables are a bit close together, and the second room is a tight squeeze when walking through, but the many polaroid photos with leis and wall lights makes for a great ambiance! My friends and I started with the musubis; our favorite was the yellowtail, which had delicate flavors with a hint of yuzu. Taiwanese flat cabbage - this dish stood out, with so much flavor and umami! The Miso glazed pork ribs - note it comes with 4 ribs. We had to carve the meat for the 4th to split amongst three; it was a good amount overall. For the main course, we shared the Half portion of Mochiko fried chicken. The chicken was hot, freshly fried, and very crispy! Definitely delish on its own but what made it special were Noreetuh's sauces of spicy mayo and soy glaze. The soy glaze had smoky undertones and was sooo good I kept eating more of it without the chicken!! The entree came with pickled string beans and pickled onions. The pickled onions were a good palate cleanser, but due to the nature of the vegetable, the pickled string beans kept a strong vinegar taste. The Hawaiian rolls were prepared so well - they were so light and fluffy!! Some notes: the dishes we ordered that had "spicy" in the name were not spicy to me - these included the spicy salmon musubi and the spicy mayo. Not a bad thing, just setting expectations. (I wished the spicy salmon musubi had more of a kick though). The delicious food accompanied with great friends and great service throughout the night made dining at Noreetuh very special. I can't wait to go back!
We were in NYC this weekend for the Asian American, Native
We were in NYC this weekend for the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Smithsonian and wanted to have an authentic Hawaiian dinner. We set reservations for 8 at Noreetuh, as it was also three of our birthdays that same weekend. The server was awesome, the place was packed, and we had such a great time. The Hawaiian vibe was strong, and the food was fantastic. We shared some appetizers, and I had the crab stir-fried rice. My sister, who is vegan, got the Cow Noodles, and my wife got the Teriyaki bowl. They even made special dishes for the kids, which might not be a regular thing, but it was much appreciated. The desserts were incredible, especially the pineapple. If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to order more. Not because I wasn't filled up, but because the flavors were so great I wanted to try more dishes. The only negative was that the coffee was weak, but I'm used to Starbucks, which is probably too strong. Overall, Noreetuh provided an amazing dining experience with delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Noreetuh was AMAZING! I got the Kimchi Fried Rice and it
Noreetuh was AMAZING! I got the Kimchi Fried Rice and it was the most satisfying and delicious meal. The flavor was amazing and so fresh. The egg on top was also a plus. I also got the Yellowtail Musubi which was so fresh and delicious. We ended off the meal with a Coconut Passionfruit Sundae which was delicious!! Highly recommend it. The space of the restaurant is a bit tight but if you are able to snag a reservation it is so worth it. Plus, the service was incredible. This restaurant is a true hidden gem.
The fried chicken and musubis are some of the best in the
The fried chicken and musubis are some of the best in the city! The mochiko fried chicken is light, crispy, and juicy. It comes with two sauces - spicy mayo or soy glaze. Both sauces complement the chicken well. There are many options of musubis - my favorites were the galbi, yellowtail, scallop, and the spicy tuna tartare. The servers are very nice! We were going to celebrate a birthday and they wrote happy birthday on the menu which was such a sweet touch! The restaurant isn't that big but there are two sections to the restaurant so there are a decent amount of tables. There are many Polaroids on the wall. The prices do add up so the bill will end up being rather high. I would recommend skipping the Mentaiko spaghetti or the rices - the portions are rather small for the price.
Such a great meal here!!! So unique and yummy.
Everything was fantastic. Great service as well - we loved David! Ambiance is also great You have to get the coconut passion fruit sundae - it was SO good!
Hawaiian with some creative twists.
..we had a good time at @noreetuh with their yummy food and very friendly service! They have the best mochiko chicken loco moco!
Not sure what happened, if it's them or me, but the food
Not sure what happened, if it's them or me, but the food just didn't taste great to me. Sad, since I remember this spot being pretty good 2 yrs ago.
Incredible Hawaiian restaurant! Every single bite we took
Incredible Hawaiian restaurant! Every single bite we took we'd say how incredible it was!!! Our server was friendly and attentive. Small restaurant so definitely make a reservation!
Try the Spam App!
Wow is all I can say. Perfect evening and so glad we chose this fine establishment during Restaurant week. We chose the pre-fix menu and ordered additional appetizers. All was fantastic. Try the spicy spam, truffle wontons and save some room for dessert! Servers were attentive, even doting. Wine selection very nice. Can't wait to return.
Very cool, intimate restaurant with a fun & unusual menu
This is a refreshingly laid-back restaurant but with a serious menu. Our table ordered a variety of appetizers, all rolls - they were interesting and surprising and very good. For our main course, I had a large poke bowl and shared the fried chicken with a friend. This restaurant is serious about quality, but at the same time, the servers were thoughtful and helpful as if we were in a neighborhood restaurant and they knew us well (no attitude). All three of us really enjoyed the experience and will be back!
I went with 4 other people during Restaurant Week.
I ordered the salmon poke appetizer, crispy skin salmon for the main course, and the brûléed Hawaiian Pineapple for dessert. Everything was great. This was my time eating poke, and I liked it. This one had a bit of a kick because of chipotle sauce and I mostly avoid hot food, but the waiter frequently refilled the water. The brûléed Hawaiian Pineapple was my favorite part. Definitely would recommend this place.
My first time in a restaurant dedicated to Hawaiian
My first time in a restaurant dedicated to Hawaiian cuisine, and it certainly did not disappoint. My husband and I found this spot looking for places to go for NYC's winter restaurant week. We both decided to do the 3 course meal with wine pairing, and I would without a doubt recommend doing the wine pairing. It was absolutely worth it. Our waiter put so much care into selecting the wines, and even let me try one first because it was a wine I usually didn't like. The appetizers were wonderful. I had the berkshire pork cutlet which came with the most amazing katsu sauce, and my husband had the grilled tuna belly which he entirely enjoyed. For my entree I had the garlic shrimp bowl and my husband had the mochiko chicken loco moco. Our plates were both entirely empty. We finished off this kings Hawaiian bread budding and brûléed Hawaiian pineapple. So yummy and the perfect way to finish off an amazing meal! I will definitely be recommend this spot to people looking for a date night or who have friends coming in from out of town. Certainly glad we discovered Noreetuh!!
Great food and great service.
My friend and I came during nyc restaurant week and loved it!
Noreetuh serves Hawaiian cuisine nestled in the heart of
Noreetuh serves Hawaiian cuisine nestled in the heart of the East Village. The place is bustling on a Saturday night, and since we made a reservation, we were seated right away. Upon perusing their menu, it would be a crime not to start our dinner with a couple of musubi. We had galbi and spam and cheese. Both dishes were flavorful. We then followed it with a heritage pork chop and half mochiko fried chicken, served with Hawaiian macaroni salad and King's Hawaiian roll. Overall, the dishes were flavorful but slightly on the drier side. Perhaps adding some soup to the menu could enhance the experience? The service was a bit slow, but it was courteous and friendly. We were expecting more but were not blown away.
A few small tweaks could go a long way.
Spicy spam- needed some type of sauce was very dry. I know it's spam but it was tasty and could be better by simple either spicy mayo or a little acidity. Mac Salad- missing seasoning. A little salt and pepper would go a long way here. Hawaiian rolls- good although not super soft. Would have super benefited from a little spicy or compound butter. Decor- lackluster just old Polaroids all over. Szechuan Bol- good but dry. Fried chicken- very good. On the platter it was weird there was only 4 cut up pickle pieces. One theme I kept finding in the meal was dryness,
Bamboo shoots were burned, tasted bitter and sour, while
Bamboo shoots were burned, tasted bitter and sour, while the musubi's seaweed was soggy when served. Not recommended. Save your money.

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
