RIJKS Amsterdam Reviews from The Last Year
Checking out this one Michelin-star restaurant located at
Checking out this one Michelin-star restaurant located at the museum square next to the national museum. They offer two different tasting menus along with the Γ la carte menu. They also allow you to change some dishes on the tasting menu if you prefer something in the Γ la carte. Very flexible~ The staff was very welcoming and friendly! This restaurant was renovated last year with a fresh interior and a more natural feeling. We picked two different kinds of tasting menus, so we got to try more dishes. Everything was beautifully plated. The chef used a lot of homegrown vegetables and was inspired by many arts from the museum. Here are my top 3 favorite dishes from the meal: Pork collar with eggplant: the best pork collar I've ever had. So tender and juicy! The eggplant glazed with sauce was very flavorful as well~ Millefeuille of beetroot: such an earthy dish and elevated with Tomasu soy sauce and fresh parsley oil Bread & Butter: it was so good that we asked for three rounds. Chili oil crunch with butter spread on warm bread... Mmmm so yummy! The bread texture was spot on too~
Wow, what a fantastic lunch we had at Rijks, next to museum.
Wonderful service and phenomenal food. A must when in Amsterdam!
Pretentious - with some very original food.
Someone must have misunderstood our payment of seventy-five Euros no-show fees , since no one showed up to receive us. After a few minutes wait, we decided to walk past the reception counter to report to someone. Not exactly the most welcoming ambiance, we felt. Service: a very charming Croat with tricks up his sleeve. A tatty sleeve, by the way, because after so many times of washing the black, baggy Vietcong payamas in which the crew is - sadly- turned out have by now paled somewhat. We had four different servers at our table during our entire two-hour meal, of which one spoke Dutch. They seemed aloof and uninterested, bordering on the arrogant. One lady server could not keep the dishes apart, nor could she tell us exactly what it was that was laying on our plates. It's all in the training guys. Food: excellent. Innovative cooking with inexpensive ingredients. ( they must have made a very healthy profit). Portions: they probably wanted us out quickly. Service speed: good. Toilets: zero points. Rijks is not above the good old Dutch restaurant trick with the water: no tap water - which is actually much better, in Holland then bottled water- on the table. Nationwide trait: you have to buy expensive looking bottles of water. (they don't just look expensive...) . Charming Croatian waiter opened a third bottle of water at our table, just when we were about to leave. He did not ask for any permission to perform this Rome-tourist-trap-style trick (are these guys on a commission, or what?) Then, as a last grandiose gesture, he forgot to deduct the senty-five no show fee from the check, upon we bestowed upon him the benefit of the doubt - and not the ninety Euro pourboire that we originally had in mind. (he WAS good!) - Facit: a pretentious tourist trap - with some very original food. - Price/quality: food: Michelin star-rish Reception and service: back to the drawingboard, guys!
One of the most expensive places in Amsterdam is
We chose Rijks as a Michelin star restaurant for our special 35 yr wedding anniversary. Although there is very little to complain about the food, the service and the wine, which was all very good - we didnβt feel it was worth the β¬500 bill we were faced with at the end of the night. We eat regularly in wonderful places in Amsterdam such as Grahams, De Juwelier and smaller restaurants such as Paskamer which we felt outperformed Rijks for taste, innovation and service. It is a very lovely restaurant with tasty, adventurous food, but does not deserve the hefty price tag.
Lots of Art
Great experience! Everything on this place is outstanding! I enjoyed art as well as the shops they have in there! It is a big big place so take Your time To Visit. It has many exhibits and exhibition rooms.
Post Museum Perfection!
At the base of the Rijksmuseum and two minutes from Van Gogh, this is an edgy and friendly stop. The chocolate ice cream and chocolate sorbet at the end is a show stopper.
Had a nice group dinner here while in a town a few weeks
Had a nice group dinner here while in a town a few weeks ago. Espresso martinis were delicious, as was all the food. The beet dish was the star of the show IMO, I've never had beets transformed in that way. The service was also very attentive all night.
Excellent dishes! Great place
Food was super good and surprising tastes. The beetroot millefeuille and lamb neck were my 2 favourite. Really really tasty. Service is efficient and friendly Setting great A fab place highly recommended Small detail - it does get quite noisy so can be hard to talk when you have a big table bit food is so good
