Best BBQ!
You must go! Several BBQ restaurants were recommended to us, including this one. I saw Rodney Scott and his restaurant on the Food Network and had to go. I was not disappointed. My order was a half slab of ribs, cornbread, and collard greens. Everything was delicious!!! Shoutout to Sam, the manager, for his hospitality and his tour of the pit. All three of us loved our meals.

Had the smoked wings. Wings were large in size and had a decent smoked flavor. If youโre on a budget, Iโd advise looking elsewhere but itโs quite pricey.
Be the first to ReplyPreviously flavorful and tender
The pork has always been flavorful and tender on previous visits. March 13, 2024 for lunch we shared a rack of ribs. Maybe it was dry cold and tough because we arrived at 11:30 AM before the lunch rush.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent spare ribs
Pork spare ribs were excellent. The whole hog sandwich was just ok, had some dried out pieces and tasted like it could've been cooked in an over. The sauces were interesting and paired well with the pork. Baked beans were tasty. If you like sweet cornbread, they got it.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Place with Excellent Food
The food was excellent! We all sat outside in the picnic table area. The menu was easy to read and the food came fast. Would definitely go back and I highly recommend if you are in the Charleston SC area.
Be the first to ReplyA friend told us to go here
Pretty tasty brisket! A friend told us to go here, and we weren't disappointed. It's a little farther into the city but has easy parking. We got the pick 3 - I wasn't a huge fan of the sausage, but that's just me. The sides were all good, and the line moved quickly. It is small inside, but there is plenty of outdoor seating for warmer weather. I like that all the sauces and plenty of paper towels are on the tables. It's not cheap by any means, but the quality is high, so it's worth it if you like your meats!

First time back since pre-covid nd brought our visiting daughter with us. Still busy Sunday at 2 pm. Chopped brisket sandwiches were good, fresh slaw, mac and cheese on the dry side. Pulled chicken sandwich was dark meat, which my wife found tasty but not a dark meat fan. Prices are good and service very good.

Food was phenomenal and the service was also great. We shared the 3 meat tray and ordered sausage, turkey and port. We also ordered onion rings, Mac and cheese and hush puppies. Everything was cooked perfectly and served quickly. You order at the counter and they bring you order to the table. The food came out quickly and the person who brought it gave us the suggestion to use the white sauce on the tray on the turkey and she was spot on. We also bought several bottles of sauce before we left.

This is definitely a must visit! Grab a menu and decide on your selection while standing in line (someone should grab a table for the group, if one is available, if not, one should be by the time you order). We purchased a bottle of bbq sauce to go, LoL! We also stopped by the original family restaurant on the way back home (another wonderful experience).

Visited based on recommendation. Service was extremely fast. Food was so good I cleaned the plate. Will be going back next time Iโm in South Carolina.
Be the first to ReplyDry and flavorless pork
After having heard about this place in southern living and watching it on chefs table, I had high hopes. The bbq pork was DRY and flavorless. There were 3 sauces to add and were definitely required to add any taste. Thankfully The Mac n cheese and potato salad were both tasty. They were sold out of their Apple pies so we ordered banana pudding. The cost was $7 and It had no bananas. It was basically vanilla pudding with crunchy vanilla wafers. I really wanted to like this place, but itโs a big NO for me.

I have had barbecue all over the country. This is by far the worst barbecue I have ever had. None of the barbecue had a smoky flavor, it was tough and the sweet Kathyโs sauce was awful. I have had better sauce at McDonalds. If this is really the best BBQ in Charleston donโt waste your time.

Ordered a shredded chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. Both were excellent, and I was surprised at the speed of service. Cool environment to dine in!

Great bbq, everything we tried was delicious, but omg try the apple pies - unbelievably good. Staff very nice and and plenty of parking too.

THe place was packed with a line out the door---but with good reason. Melt-in-your mouth ribs. Crispy wings. Stacked stuffed potato. Fabulous cornbread. OMG.

Absolutely wonderful barbecue, brisket, hush puppies, everything! The whole hog barbecue is done right there, and you can see it in process. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyFirst stop from the airport!
We stopped in to Rodney Scott's on our way into Charleston last week from the airport. It was quieter, but still busy, in the mid-afternoon. Pork shoulder and ribs were just delicious, as were the collards and mac and cheese. Would recommend.

Great atmosphere and delicious food! We ordered the 3 meat combo to give a few things a try. Ribs are not overly seasoned but have a great char. They were moist and a nice bit of meat. Additional seasoning and sauces are on the table. Brisket was great! The corn bread delicious. The atmosphere was clean, the team well organized. We recommend you give it a try if youโre in town.
Be the first to ReplyThat Mac and cheese!
We beat the dinner rushโฆjust barely. Thankfully we got a table. While the bbq was good (I got the pork!), it was the sides that won me over. The Mac and cheese and hush puppies with honey butter made me forget all about the meat. Add in Ellaโs banana pudding and wow!
Be the first to ReplyOver rated restaurant.
We were surprised at the quality of our meat at this BBQ restaurant. The brisket was so tough that it could hardly be cut with a knife. The pulled pork shoulder was very very dry. To top it off, the banana pudding was laughable. It was a very large serving of vanilla pudding, but mine had only one small piece of vanilla wafer and one slice of banana in the serving. On the other hand the sides and cornbread were very good. I donโt believe anyone in our group will ever cross the threshold of this over rated restaurant again.

We were excited to have southern bbq for dinner. While we were in line at Raymond Scottโs on King Street, another patron told us not to order the pork because it was very dry. So, we ordered a platter with brisket and Turkey instead. The absolute driest meat weโve eaten. Not inexpensive either. $80 for 2 of us, not to mention that we spent almost $20 in Ubers to get there and back to our hotel when we could have gone elsewhere instead. Save your money and donโt bother. The employees were Informative and knowledgeable and kept the restaurant clean.

Good BBQ but very poor service. Young woman working the take out window was too busy socializing to keep up with orders. Won't go again. Lewis BBQ pleasant server's better BBQ

1st ate @Rodney's at the original, much more like a true Q "shack". The Charleston location doesn't have the same ambience and at the same the Q is still great. This Southern boy loves Rodney's Q1 5 ratings all around.

Food was ok, but nothing special. Pretty expensive for the quality. $100 for two combo platters. There are definitely better options in Charleston.

A stop here was planned on our trip from Massachusetts to Florida. We technically drove 200 miles out of the way to get great BBQ but that wasn't really the case. As we walked from the parking lot we passed the part of the building that house to smokers and grills and the promise of great BBQ filled our nostrils. The dining area was crowded with diners and there was a short line to order. We ordered pulled pork sandwiches and a half rack of ribs. We ordered Mac-n-Cheese, Hushpuppies, and Corn Bread for sides. The sides were fantastic. The ribs made the trip to eat here worth it. However, the pulled pork sandwiches were lackluster and had zero flavor. There was no seasoning and the meat was bland. There were sauces on the table but also weren't very flavorful and one was just vinegar according to one of the staff. If Rodney Scott's is to be considered great BBQ it needs some serious attention to how the food is presented. I probably wouldn't recommend that anyone travel a great distance to get mediocre BBQ.
