I should have known. When the still, small voice inside says, "No. This is not going to go well." Good idea to listen. Saturday night, 6:30, and one person at the bar and eight persons at the tables. Hostess took our party of four to our booth. I noticed that all the menus at the four seats were facing towards the person except one was upside down. Not a biggie, just inattention to detail. A sheet of butcher paper covers the tables accompanied by three blue crayons. Nothing was ever done with them by any of the staff. Perhaps if you wished to doodle at dinner, you would be equiped. Our server was Anthony, who was also the bartender. I should have known. My wife told him it was our 35th Anniversary. "happy anniversary" was the disinterested reply. He took our drink orders. Two sangrias and one lemonade. Well, almost. He never asked me what I wanted. With the entrée, for an added $2.50, unlimited three selections of soup or salad is offered. All four ordered that option. My luke warm corn chowder had nice flavor. My wife's lobster bisque was ok. We had wished to order another round of drinks but our bartender/server was busy talking with the one person at the bar. At his left was a trainee leaning against the back bar. After twenty minutes, I flagged down the hostess and asked for another server who was not quite so busy. She said she would get the manager. A new server, Nia, was thrown into the middle of this, as was a second manager, Denise, and they did their best to sort through the mess of orders. Each time a person would show up, I asked for my friend's lemonade. After while it became a game because it didn't arrive until almost the end of the meal. All four entrees were ok. Mine was very warm at the bottom of the pasta and cool at the top. Possibly waiting to be delivered? I got one refill of soup, tomato basil, hot and excellent. The second corn chowder across the table was also hot this time. To offer an apology, desserts were comped and 25% was deducted from the bill. That was nice but we would have much rather paid for the dessert and full price for the dinner and had a more memorable 35th Anniversary. Oh yeah, "happy anniversary"
