RPM Steak Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing Customer Service.
The Ambience was great. Compared to other steakhouses, I was pleasantly impressed that the lighting wasn't too dim. I enjoyed my birthday cotton candy accent at the end of our dinner. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in Chicago.

Steak me to heaven! What isn't wonderful about RPM? Let's talk ambiance: sexy, cozy, intimate, and a vibe. Service is impeccable. Shout out to our personal server, Sam. She really knows her stuff. The star of the show is the food. For starters we had the thick cut bacon. Be prepared to melt into the ecstasy of five star dining. It is far beyond what you would expect. Tender. Juicy. Succulent. Loved it. For the entree, I had the bison filet and my bestie had the Duke ribeye. Stellar! They were tender, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor and juicy. We had the Hasselbeck potatoes and spicy broccolini as sides. Can you say seduction of the tongue? Now, it's important to know that here sides are meant for sharing. If you haven't tried black truffle butter on your steak, make it a priority here. The level of elegance it adds to the flavor is astounding. It's like a sweet melody dancing on your tastebuds. The wine selection is wonderful as well. This is a great date night, girls' night or celebration spot. I look forward to the next time I can partake in luxury dining in this swank establishment.
Everything about the place is a five.
We were met by courteous staff. The food was on point, on the pricier side but worth every dime.

First time in Chicago and went to RPM Steak for dinner on a Saturday night. Was seated on the second floor, over looking the restaurant (loved this!) We had a few drinks, their filet, mashed potatoes (best I've ever had) and spinach. The service was excellent. They even ended us with a cotton candy that said happy birthday (was celebrating late). If I ever go back to Chicago, I'll be coming here again!
3 generation trip
Very tasty dinner later. Big choice. Not cheap, but definitely worth a try. Sidedish risotto truffle was super tasty. Fries with truffle and cheese were too heavy... it's nice that you can share everything with the company. There were 3 of us, 3 different types of steaks, 2 side dishes⦠we ate more than enough. Starter had been too much. And
10/5, one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and
10/5, one of the best meals we have had in a long time, and contender for best steakhouse ever. I feel like RPM is what STK wants to be. The space is big, and just dark enough to set the scene but you can still see your table mates and read the menu. The ceilings are tall and the music is just the right level without being too loud but puts a great modern twist on the classic steakhouse. Service throughout was fantastic, our server was knowledgeable and had great recommendations. We started with the A5 Wagyu Appetizer special. This was incredible and came with a hot stone for you to cook the wagyu at your table. The wasabi that came with it was freshly grated and the soy sauce complimented the wagyu really well. This was incredible and if they have it when you come it's a must get. For entrees we got the 10oz center cut filet, the 12oz Bison filet and the brussel sprouts. Everything was exceptional. The steaks were perfectly cooked, had a great sear on them, and were seasoned incredibly well. Pro tip: ask for extra of the pickled peppers that come with them, those were great! The brussel sprouts were some of the best we have ever had. The sauce they were tossed in was amazing. We will 100% be going back, it was a great meal and the steaks were incredible!
Best Steak House in Chicago. And has the best Steaks
Best steakhouse in Chicago. Waygu program is off the charts. They definitely spend more time selecting and curating their beef offerings more than any steak house I have seen. What a wine list - any thing you could dream of is on there.. Love love love the risotto and the Japanese sweet potato side dishes. Must have the king crab appetizer!
Hands down amazing.
It's not your daddy's steak house, it's modern, it's new, it's upbeat. It's expensive and worth every penny. Happy hour is a must, solid prices on drinks and bites. The westholme strip wagyu was hands down the best steak I've had in Chicago. The cut of meat for the price was impressive.
Great food.
Great service. Everything was excellent but a must is the hand dipped ice cream cookies.
The steaks& seafood are wonderful.
The restaurant views are perfect. The restaurant gets really busy so it's a good idea to chill at the bar before you get seated . The service is top notch of what you expected to be from RPM
Overall, the food was good.
I will say that the King Crab appetizer was tasty but it would have been even better without so much salt. The same with the Brussels Sprouts. They were so salty I couldn't eat them past one bite. Food doesn't need to have an abundance of salt added to taste good. My blood pressure medication can only do so much.
5-star for the chicken.
3-4 star for steak. Great wine. Great cocktails. Service at the bar was excellent. Relaxing vibe and free matches too

Came here to celebrate a couple of momentous accomplishments and the place didn't disappoint! Food was excellent but service was exceptional.. Anna was professional and super attentive. Will definitely be back! Enjoyed the tomahawk and domestic Wagyu ribeye.. Seafood tower was on point...
Highly recommend RPM
RPM blew us out of the water! Sat us prominently at our reservation time, our waiter came right away gave us all the specials then helped us pick out a wine to go with our meals. The steaks were literally melt in your mouth good. We have visited many upscale steakhouses and RPM is now our favorite one. Donβt leave without dessert! The cheesecake is creamy and smooth, the coffee creme brΓ»lΓ©e was out of this world. I have nothing to complain about for our visit. Max from Cleveland was our waiter and he sure knew his stuff. We will be back!

It's definitely a place to be when in Chicago! The food was delicious. The service was outstanding and the ambiance was fabulous. Don't miss out! I highly recommend this place.
My favorite Chicago steakhouse!
My first visit to Chicago was in Dec 2023 and I found RPM Steak. It's definitely my favorite restaurant in Chicago. I've been to every steakhouse in Chicago and RPM Steak is definitely my first choice. The menu has many options. Their oysters are phenomenal! Filet was out of this world. The ambiance of the restaurant is incredible and the staff is even better! I just dined there earlier this month and beverage and operations manager Kyle Samp jumped the bar on customer service. He did everything in his power to figure out what drink I was served during a previous visit in January. That wasn't just a martini... THAT was a tiny slice of heaven on earth! One of the wonderful bartenders made me a Key Lime Martini and I fell in love... hook, line and sinker! Thank you RPM Steak for always providing me with an incredible dining experience! π
The food and drinks where amazing, steak and lobster
The food and drinks where amazing, steak and lobster perfect match. Music went well with the ambience of the restaurant. Waiter was very attentive.
Always a hit from day one.
Service, pace, food on point. Backwaiter team superior! Thanks again RPM.
The steak is really fancy and high end and the employees
The steak is really fancy and high end and the employees are really great, and it had a lot of people that were enjoying it too
Came in for my birthday dinner and it was great at first!
Came in for my birthday dinner and it was great at first! We were sat at the high tops near the bar and started with the octopus and coal fired crab (both so delicious!) We then ordered the steak frites cooked medium and the Beeman Ranch Waygu NY strip medium rare. The waygu was some of the best steak we've had but unfortunately the steak frites started a little drama! Looked fine at first but after eating the first piece we had noticed it was cooked more on the rare side. We asked the waiter if they could fix it and he said no problem. Unfortunately it was brought back out completely brown and well done. I then asked if it wouldn't be any trouble to make a new one and they agreed. 2 minutes later another employee came back with the same over cooked meat and attempted to explain to me that it was not overcooked but the kitchen would still make me a fresh one. I then decided we had plenty of food without the additional steak and asked if it wasn't too late we didn't need it to be remade. They insisted at the very least to bring it to me to go. We agreed that was fine but even when the steak was brought out all wrapped up, it was still more medium rare than medium. I could tell after this our waiter was a little frustrated with us and stopped checking in to see if we needed drink refills and seemed hesitant to ask us if we'd like to see the dessert menu. Overall, most of the food is really good but because of this experience, especially for a birthday, we will probably not return.
Amazing food and great service! They now have caviar
Amazing food and great service! They now have caviar service (not on the menu but ask your server) which was incredible
Details please. Be better, hire better
Iβve been here multiple times and wish my review could be better. Started night with a family premeal cocktail. Had to wait for bartender who was serving dinner and cocktails to valet sitting at bar. Not sure why you would serve someone with valet jacket on cocktails . With 6:30 reservation, for main dining room made one month ago, got seated upstairs in young family section. Waiter is wonderful, but wine steward, was dismissive when I ordered a bottle of wine from RPM steak online menu, as βwe sold out of that months agoβ. Luckily waiter stepped in and offered positive alternative. Food was wonderful as always, but I expect more in the small details. As a patron of all the RPM restaurants and Levy restaurants, I would expect more of your upfront help to know their long tenured- repeat customers. Be better, hire better.
Meals and Fun
The Michelin dining experience was just what was needed to be set free, and reminded me to explore the city's skyline at nighttime.
Shockingly disappointing!
Profoundly, disappointing! Two of us had the BEEMAN RANCH WAGYU Delmonico ribeye at $98. We both had the same impression and tasted each other steaks. It was cooked correctly and had an excellent sear those slightly over salted. However, the marbling in the center was completely nonexistent. Its texture was more like a New York strip steak. Its flavor and taste was underwhelming. Completely ordinary steak that could be obtained, absolutely anywhere and considered below average. Couldβve had the same from a grocery store. In all honesty, a 3 or 4 out of a scale of 10. One diner had the Cheek stone center cut fillet $68. Again correctly cooked excellent sear, but completely ordinary taste/flavor couldβve obtained anywhere for half the price. The last person had calamari which she stated was very good. I did not taste. But again we came here for steak! We had the French onion soup was excellent at $24 a bowl. They went to the trouble of making me thousand island dressing which was not on the menu. However, they already put vinaigrette on my salad so I had two dressings mixed which was an unusual combination. We had the lobster cocktail which was as expected. We had the coffee crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e and Banoffee Pie. Both had a beautiful presentation and were excellent. But we came here for steak! Service and attendance was average or slightly above. Cotton candy on the table for dessert is an niced touch. Came here instead of going to a staple for dinner to impress some out-of-town guest and was very disappointed. Once in my life, I returned a steak, but I was tempted to do it here, but didnβt wanna make a fuss and make our evening all about our disappointment in the steaks. Cannot recommend it to anyone and wonβt take a chance. Iβm coming back again. Our total bill without tip was $850. It was money NOT well spent! I guess having fancy brand names on your steaks doesnβt make a difference.
Nothing to Write Home About!?!
Dining at RPM Steak for the first time decidedly commenced with disappointment with a thirty minute wait from our reservation time. We were invited to have a seat in the bar whilst waiting, but to no avail with not a single seat available. For a restaurant of this supposed caliber, this is simply unacceptable with no real apologies or offerings extended. Once finally seated at 8:05 pm for our 7:30 pm reservation, the energetic ambiance truly made up for the delayed accommodation. Unfortunately, aside from the servicing, none of the dishes were definitively exceptional in any realm, but all were undoubtedly very good. Of note, the Bone-in Bison Filet was both an unexpected menu item and one worth experiencing although served up at room temperature. The complimentary cotton candy was a nice and welcomed final touch to our anniversary evening out. With all said and done, we certainly wouldn't be rushing back to this establishment given that there are so many extraordinary and great steak houses in the Chicago area.
Modern and great steak house
Modern and vibrant Chicago steak house, which offers the βclassic dishesβ and contemporary variations . Very friendly service and great wine selection
Disappointing food
Nothing was particularly bad but all the food was just not tasty. Hamachi crudo, wagyu tamaki, signature duke fillet, muahsroom and Brussels sprouts sides. It was all wrongly seasoned - too sour or too salty. Disappointing for the reputation and the price.
Five Star Experience!
First time in Chicago and first time at RPM Steakhouse and so worth it! Our waiter Anne was the ultimate host and tremendously professional, charming and passionate about delivering us a first class experience. Everything she recommended was over the top delicious and weβll definitely be back!

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response⦠how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been βmatchedβ with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Hi Community,
I am new to this site and just recently bought a reservation here. I noticed that on the reservation page, it is booked under a random name and a virtual email address.
I can't find any button to change either the name or the email for this reservation I bought. So, should I just say that random name when I arrived at the restaurant? Not really sure about the procedures.
