I love finding new places that aren’t Italian in NYC to try and this place is a hit!
A super restaurant for Indian food in NYC
I always have a blast when we stay here and even if we don’t we always end up spending a good amount of time. From the food to the ambiance of the circle bar in the middle. It’s always a great time. The remodeled rooms just added even more fun.
I have no idea who is posting positive reviews. Staying there now, and the elevator situation is a disaster. Waited 20 minutes from 9th floor then 12 of us had to take the stairs. Unconscionable for a MGM property. Even when you get on an elevator, it is 1) packed and 2) it stops on every…..single……floor.
Great fun trip! Hotel was friendly and clean and very entertaining with that great taste and look of New York City. Roller coaster was a great way for us to close out our stay. Couldn’t ask for a better stay.
Great location. Gets a little busy for in and out if there is something happening at T-Mobile arena. Never had to wait long for an elevator. Starbucks lineups were nonexistent for some reason which was nice. Pool was alright but noisy from the roller coaster.

We somehow got lucky and got a reservation at Semma! I've heard about Semma and how it was deemed Michelin star before, and my friends and I were so excited to try it. When we walked in we were seated immediately but when we began to order it was probably the most confusing ordering process we've ever gone through. It felt as if we were pressured to keep ordering food (maybe cause the kitchen was closing?) but do know that they have decent portions for each course though they might say differently. Food thankfully was really good and I'm not Michelin critic but it didn't seem to exceed expectations. My friends who ordered their lobster and venison really enjoyed their dishes and especially the lobster was so soft and paired well with the curry. The other standout items were the gunpowder dosa which is a must and the cauliflower. The poriyal was also an interesting and refreshing item. I would pass on any bread or sides you're thinking of getting since you do end up eating a decent amount. Overall good food for a one time try!
🙂
Great food, great service, but the design/experience falls
Great food, great service, but the design/experience falls a little short.First of all, sitting at the bar, there is a bright light illuminating the bottles, and another one under the bar, shining onto your legs. Above the actual bar is a very weak light, barely illuminating the counter and your food. As a result, I could barely see the details of my dishes, and it was impossible to get any good pictures as well. I ordered the Gunpowder Dosa and the Chettinad Maan, which took a while to come out. The dosa was crisp, and the potato filling was full of flavor and really complimented the huge dosa. The soups and sauces alongside it were basic in flavor and variety and I found didn't add much to the dish, but I still enjoyed it overall. Also, the crisp dosa overflowing off the plate left crumbs everywhere when trying to split it. The chettinad was delicious, the venison peeled right off the bone and its deep flavor melted into every corner of my mouth. However, as mentioned with the bar lighting, I couldn't really see what was in the pot they gave me, and so I was digging through in the dark. Again with design, the overflowing bowl of coconut rice given was impossible to scoop out of without spilling some, which was annoying to eat, and left my table looking like a toddler had ran through. I really enjoyed Semma's food; each bite was packed with authentic, rich, and deep flavors, but the overall design of the experience was lackluster.
🤢
Poor service waitstaff was very unprofessional and demanding.
Was very disappointed in the actions of the waitstaff. The first one said she would be back and never returned. I went to another location to gamble to try to get some service. Got service but then the waiter took my drink back after demanding a tip. I told her if she could watch my machine so I can cash out and give her a tip she responded with “your not looking out for me so I’m not looking out for you and walked away with my beer I had ordered!! Very Very Rude.
Family stayed for a short overnight trip before flying home. We enjoyed the food, the casino a the upbeat atmosphere. The room was very nice the staff was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can’t wait to return
😍
Best casino on strip. STAYED everywhere!
I have stayed at nearly all of the big casino/hotels and none of them have been as good as NyNy. This is our 5th stay now and I feel it's only gotten better. Great selection of games, friendly staff, excellent rooms, reasonably priced food, good return on slots, tables not as much this trip, and fast service everywhere.
😒
Nice but don't pay for an upgrade or expect bar service in the casino
1st visit to Las Vegas and stayed at NYNY at the suggestion of our son (frequent visitor). Paid to upgrade to a suite and it was a waste of $ - extra space was nice but our room on the 4th floor had a view of rooftops/AC equipment and there was constant noise from the hallway, either from other guests or staff (staff noise started at 6 am, directly across from us). Food selection was good with the buffet and Italian being the highlights. Bar service in the casino was sporadic and often had to be looking around for bar staff while actively playing (not good).
😍
NYNY great modern hotel
Soho 2 Queen was a great room. Smells new and freshly renovated in room and hallways. Nice New York wallpaper in the room. Great view of the strip and rollercoaster from the window. Only con was sometimes hard to sleep with the screaming and noise from the rollercoaster but a couple more cocktails in the casino would cure that!

I just don't understand how anyone could leave less than a 5 star review at Semma. Every dish was composed of more flavor than I've ever had anywhere else. There was citrus, coconut, spice, earth, umami, and char all in just one dish, and every bite left me wanting more. The ambiance feels like a party, and the service added to the fun. Go to Semma before they raise their prices from their new Michelin status, it's fantastic.
😍
The food here was fantastic.
We made a reservation for 4 exactly one month in advance. We ordered a good variety: the snails, gunpowder dosa, tiger prawns, goat intestines, attu Kari Sukka, lobster tail, venison, and biryani. We also got a side of dosa, parotta, and coconut rice. The venison was everyone's favorite, as the gravy was especially tasty. Every dish had a unique flavor, and most were on the spicier side (except for the snails). This is definitely some of the best South Indian food you'll get at a restaurant. The only thing we all agreed wasn't fantastic was the parotta. It it was a little thin and too crispy (hard to eat with the gravy dishes). The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and gave good recommendations.
🙂
Amazing location and decor.
We got the gunpowder dosa, kal dosa, tiger prawns, goat biriyani & lobster tail. Honestly, everything was mid, except for the lobster tail. The lobster tail was so exquisite. I had never tasted anything like that before! The cocktails were also 10/10. I will say the spice in the food was perfect. It never overwhelmed the dishes.
The service is good. There chairs are terrible. I'm older and I have lower back issues. The chairs at Semma are very uncomfortable. I asked for a cushion to support my back but they have none. I will go back if I don't have to suffer during and after a meal.
😍
Wife was able to make reservations (2 months in advance)
Wife was able to make reservations (2 months in advance) for our trip to NY during our kids' spring break. The hostess was extremely nice and we were seated right away. Being from Texas, we are used to space and plush seats, so this was a little different (think Paris spacing). The drinks on the menu went with the Indian theme, I had the paan flavored old fashion; it definitely tasted like the description, but I was not a fan (due to the paan and rose water, a little too sweet for me). Wife ordered the Pondicherry Sarraku, it was pretty tasty for being a mixed drink containing Hennessy. For our appetizer, we ordered the tiger prawns; this was amazing. The flavor is what you would imagine if you were actually in South India, it was so fresh, good portion size and had a good amount of heat. If you have more than (2) people, I would suggest ordering two orders as it only comes with (2) pieces (prawns). The next dish we ordered was the lamb - very tasty, good portion size. For our entree, we had the Dungeness Crab; flavor was amazing! If you do want the crab, you have to call/contact them ahead as it is limited. All in all, it was a great experience and our friends and family in NY are jealous that we experienced the food before they did
😒
Average, nothing glamorous
Check in and out was easy. It was clean overall. The Time Square piano bar was pretty fun. With a reservation for $30/person you get a table and wait service. Or walk-in first come first serve is standing room and bar service. The gym was clean. The nightlife and late night food options seemed pretty limited. The monorail is across the street at MGM but still a good 10 minute walk. Cleaning turnover service was a miss - room finally cleaned after we set our full trash can outside for over 24 hours.
🤮
New York New York Hotel is overrated.
Reserved rooms in advance, they sold all our rooms before we arrived. Charged the premium suite price anyway for their smallest room. Room had no water pressure, broken drawer, missing fridge, bed lumpy, and pillows that I could use for a jackstand
It was fun, beds comfortable, food was wonderful. We have stayed a lot of places in Vegas but this was our favorite so far. The decorations were great as well. Transportation was easy. Will definitely stay again.
Good but water pressure was poor. I have colleagues who didnt have hot water at all and eas poorly comped. Another colleague was yelled at for simply getting in the wrong line at registration even though no one else was really there
Just a dirty and loud hotel. We got a non smoking room that still smelled like smoke. Housekeeping was hit or miss and we had to take towels off of a cart at night in the hall. When they did make the room they took a pillow that my wife brings with here on all of our trips. Her deceased grandmother made it for her. The hotel said we are pretty much out of luck and gave her a voucher for 25 dollars off of a meal at a restaurant we couldn't go to because of a special event or we could use it for a milkshake. We left a day early. Never again
😍
Such a well deserved Michelin star! We had been trying to
Such a well deserved Michelin star! We had been trying to find a reservation forever and eventually just tried our luck with a late night walk in at the bar. As others have mentioned stand out dishes included the attu kari sukka, gunpowder dosa, goat biriyani and tiger prawns. We also got their bread pudding dessert which was a little heavy on the milk but still delicious. If we can score a table ever in the future we'll be back!
Had to go to Vegas for work and stayed an extra day for fun. The New York-new York was great. Lots of renovations going on, but still a good stay. Have been there before. Would definitely recomend.I was in town to work a basketball tournament and the location could not have been better.
Had an amazing experience here! Would definitely book again! There were many places to eat inside the property, many things to do as well. It was clean and staff were always friendly. The parking was convenient as well
Stayed in the newly renovated room and it was great. Bed was comfortable, pillows were perfect and everything was very clean. Lots of food choices at all price points. Very close to T-mobile arena with easy access thru parking garage. Think the hotel does get you with those fees, even charged an extra $20 a night for staying in the new rooms.
Great hotel with great staff. Amazing and unique atmosphere. Location is great and close to everything. I would definitely come back. Rooms are good but expected better specially the bathrooms. But overall it’s a great place
😍

You have to try the dosa!!!! We ordered three!! Everything was super flavorful and tasty. We almost tried everything in the menu. Highly recommended. Please see pictures below :)

The food, especially the more inventive dishes (snails etc)
The food, especially the more inventive dishes (snails etc) were amazing, but this is the worse service I have ever gotten in a Michelin starred restaurant. The person serving me--wearing an unapologetically Indian T- shirt, ironically --seemed only interested in helping and making recommendations to white people, and basically ignored the Indian people sitting there. He refused to let me hold onto the menus for more than a minute, perhaps fearing that I might run away with it. Will not return.
😍

What an incredible find! We've been wanting to go for the longest but reservations are impossible to be had! Finally got a 9.30pm seating which was a bit of a bummer because it felt a bit rushed at the end due to last call for orders and the kitchen closing. That apart, we loved the decor and the gorgeous murals on the walls depicting Kathakali dancers and flower and leaf motifs. The color palette was fresh and lively and the cane lamps and the woven straw coverings on the ceiling evoked a soothing step back into simpler times. Now on to the real reason we were there - the food!! Spoiler alert - Can I just say we were blown away? This is what we ordered -Appetizers /Eral Thokku - Tiger Prawns in a thick tomato onion masala with just the perfect seasoning of curry leaves. /Gunpowder Dosa - crisp and nicely spiced on the inside with the gunpowder and lots of Aloo masala stuffing and Sambhar and Chutney's to die for! The unmistakable taste and aroma of ghee takes you to heaven!/Lamb Sukka - this was soooo good I forgot to take pics until it was almost done! Mains/Kozhi Allepey - home style chicken! Perfectly prepared. Not the most exciting thing on the menu but definitely soul satisfying. /Kal Dosa - this was a plain Dosa that came as a side. It was thicker than expected but we loved it despite that! The flavor and the thickness unexpectedly hit the spot! /Dindigul Biryani - just OMG good!! It uses a local South Indian rice variety so doesn't have the elegance of the Basmati, but instead the short grain perfectly compliments the complexity of the spices and flavors!/Parotta - the standard favorite without which any Indian meal is incomplete but so well prepared with layers and layers of goodness and just the perfect combination of crisp and soft. Dessert/Shahi Tukda - so if there's one thing I had to complain about it's unfortunately this. I have a major sweet tooth and enjoy most desserts, but this was a little too rich and cloying even for my taste. Semma just moved to the VERY TOP of my List of Indian Restaurants in NYC!!! Highly, highly recommend you go!! Unfortunately it seems I'm just sabotaging my next reservation but they really deserve this review!
🤮
It is so difficult to get a reservation but that's to be
It is so difficult to get a reservation but that's to be expected from a Michelin star restaurant. You know what's not to be expected from a Michelin star restaurant? Rats. Especially in the bathroom. I went to the bathroom, opened the door, and a small rat (or mouse?) ran out of the bathroom into the curtains next to it! I think the curtains led into the kitchen or something with food. The food was delicious, service was great, drinks were amazing, but rodents? That's my dealbreaker. DOH should definitely stop by and take a look.
😍
So hard to get a reservation but worth it.
Please give this place a visit especially if your knowledge of Indian food starts and ends with chicken tikka masala.Warning : we overate and tell so full afterwards. The food was divided among 4 people and still felt a lotWe started with their gunpowder dosa - crispy, paper thin with a flavorful sambhar and potato filling. One might argue why eat dosa here when you get decent dosa even outside, and they would have a point. Then we went with the attu kari sukka (think fry prep of lamb). The tellicherry peppers along with the mace just explodes in your mouth after accentuating the lamb and is highly recommendedWe pre ordered the crab - they say it's for two people which is technically correct if you're not ordering other things. It's a big portion with sides. The sides have been delicately chosen to accompany the spicy crab. The parotta does justice and we ended up ordering more because we were 4 people. Please get this dish if you are a crab lover. Because my friends don't want to see me thin they encouraged me to order Dindigul Biryani. Now I am a biryani snob and very few biryani surpass a Kolkata style dum biryani so take that into consideration when you read this paragraph. The samba rice was too starchy for me actually and while I enjoyed the dish very much I doubt I'll order it again. Basically there's tons of things I liked more I forget what the dessert was called but it was like a payasam (rice pudding) that was doused in tender coconut. Beautiful way to end a spicy meal if you ask me The chef was so nice and even took a picture with us!Cocktails are also nice btw - but I stuck to my lime sodasWill I be back? If I can manage to get a Reservation, yes!

This place was AMAZING The food was wow so wonderful I truly enjoyed this experience and the chef was so nice
😍
Really great culinary experience.
Although Semma was definitely a bustling spot it didn't feel scene-y and the back room has a great charm to it. Waitress helped us navigate the menu and across four people we probably ordered 75% of the menu. Highly recommend doing that as the plates are relatively small and it's great to be able to try a lot. The cauliflower and venison were excellent. Would spring for extra naan and rice as the plates can get a bit spicy. The lobster tail could be a nice sweet accompaniment to most of the other mains. Very fast service and the appetizers will come out rapid fire - however we didn't feel rushed. Would certainly come back.
😍
As a South Indian, I had very high expectations for this
As a South Indian, I had very high expectations for this restaurant and I was very pleased to set this restaurant went above and beyond. Food was all around amazing, specifically the gunpowder dosa. The paan old fashioned was an amazing drink that I hope to order every time. Service was one of the best I have experienced- we had a delay in getting a table and the restaurant staff was very kind and provided us with additional complimentary services to make up for the delay. Cannot wait to go back!
Most of the items we ordered were very spicy. In fact much too spicy for some at the table. I know that one should expect some level of spice at an Indian restaurant, but I felt the waiter could have done a better job to direct items that may had a less intense heat level. He just said "the chef will not modify the spiciness of any dish" and offered to bring some raita to the table (which he forgot). Very busy and buzzy restaurant with reservations that were almost impossible to get. Not sure I would dine here again however. Many better Indian restaurants in the city.
Semma serves south Indian cuisine with a unique twist. Overall, the dinner was phenomenal!

Disregard the negative reviews!
Well, I unfortunately lost the very long review I just tried to post here but to summarize, don’t read into the negative reviews! I had read the elevators have issues but it’s because they are remodeling and updating the hotel so some (I only found 1) may run slow. All you have to do is walk 10-20 feet to the next elevator and crisis averted! I encounter only one slow elevator until someone told me to just walk down the hall to the next one which had no issues so all those reviews are just ridiculous 😅. I also read the rooms were dirty and the shower didn’t drain.. no issues there! And I changed rooms due to some loud neighbors blasting music. They were able to change rooms with no issues and even gave me a credit for free drinks/dinner for the troubles (even though no fault of the hotel). My boyfriends parents came on the trip and their room was also spotless and I’ll say the beds and pillows were some of the most comfortable I’ve stayed in! My boyfriends parents had an issue with their safe one night and they promptly fixed the issue and again compensated them for the trouble (none of us asked for that). The other thing I read complaints of was the smell of smoke.. well, you’re in Vegas and most hotels and casinos allow that so if this is such an issue, go to one of the non smoking ones. They did the best they could but it is what it is and wasn’t that bad (coming from a non smoker). They had plenty of security in and outside the hotel which made me safe and secure. The food options were fantastic at NYNY. Big shoutout to Gallagher’s restaurant for the best prime rib, lobster tail and and steak I’ve ever had! Definitely a must try! My only negatives are that the waitress at Nine Fine Irishmen was lacking in her costumer service skill.. maybe she needs a vacation (or maybe just time to retire) as she was a bit rude and cranky. I also wish they had mini fridges in the rooms to hold your water and leftovers.. I get this is typical for Vegas but still would love to have that option. All the staff I encountered were stellar and went out of their way to make my stay wonderful which it was so I’m happy to come back one day ☺️☺️
🙂
Great stay for your first visit to Las Vegas. The location is perfect!
NYNY is a beautiful venue! It’s located close to other Resorts such as MGM and Mandalay Bay. You can easily walk to these resorts or walk the strip. The food court is one of the reasons we keep coming back to this hotel! It’s convenient and has a large selection. The gaming is great as is the cocktail staff!
🙂
Clean, Convenient & Good Price
The room was clean. Convenient location to a show at Dolby Live in Park MGM. The bathroom was tight for two people. The toilet was very close to the door, but otherwise very satisfied. We wanted to check out the pool to reserve a spot, but too expensive. It ended up being cheaper at Park MGM. But, mostly hotel pool reservations were expensive.
🙂
Great location and hotel
The hotel itself is great and the location is close enough to everything that you can walk. Some of the hotel staff was a bit rude and pushy for tips. The security staff there was friendly and we felt safe during our stay.
We had early check in got room after 4. We had 4 people an were finally given a room with 1 ki g bed. It was our anniversay wanted to eat at steak house told me it was closed it wasn't it was open. They put us in the ll fornaio an the waiter never acknowledged our anniversay even though I let them know in advance. The waiter rushed us in an out an as soon as we sat down wanted to take our order an when I asked for a minute he said he would be right back after he got our drinks. We were half way through dinner an he gave me the bill an said hed take it when I was ready never even offered dessert. My friends got another room because we couldn't switch our room an we had a king bed. My host never responded to me after I messaged him about this told me he was off he would respond d the next day an to this day havent recieved anything from him. So in closing We won't return to The New York New York EVER AGAIN!
🤢
Not what I expected from an MGM resort hotel...And not in a good way
From the outside, I was expecting a fun experience of having a piece of NY in Las Vegas. This hotel NAILED IT with the decor and the street feel downstairs. However, the rooms need a lot of work. The elevators took about 5 to 10 minutes to come down or up. sometimes you had to close the door 5 times before it actually closed. I got a lil nervous thinking that I was gonna get stuck on the elevator with my mom who has medical issues. The hallways smelled stale and the rooms smelled smoky and stale like old clothes. When we got to our room for the first time, the wall across from our door was lined with leftover food and a trash bag full of used towels, and it remained there until late evening the NEXT DAY! The rooms didn't get cold AT ALL and the vent faced the opposite wall near the window. The TV Screen made everyone on the TV look stretched out and compacted. Also there was no fridge or coffee maker. It would have been great to have these issues be a non-factor for my mom who AGAIN has medical issues and is diabetic. Also the MGM check in app was not user friendly. I had to leave to cut a session short to walk back to the hotel to stand in line to check in. I do appreciate the luggage holding area holding my luggage while I was in Convention Session before check in. Also, The ATM doesn't take savings account cards, and when we went to the cashier to get cash back, she couldn't help us because my mom's pin was more than 4 digits, when I suggested that she allow her to run it as credit to by pass the screen since that is what our systems at my job have to do with long PINs, she got a lil cocky and said that it will not except it and lock her out of using her card which made my mom nervous about using her card. We ended up having to find an ATM at another location where it worked JUST FINE. MGM need to fix this or get a bank inside their hotels. The highlight of this hotel is that they make it convenient to print out your boarding pass. I've stayed at 3 MGM resorts so far, and this one is not one I will consider for Next year's convention or when I come back for Olympia in December.
It was a great hotel experience everyone’s takes very good care of you the front desk always make sure they take their time and give you the best options the gambling was super fun and very comfortable
Check in took way too long approximately 45 minutes with only a couple of people in front of us, mediocre cleanliness, comfortable beds, broken ice machines. But beautiful hotel. Expensive resort fee when we were only there for a few hours
😍
After hearing raving reviews from friends, have been here
After hearing raving reviews from friends, have been here twice. Get the gunpowder dosa. Love the intestine dish - be warned, it packs a lot of heat.
Good hotel and a great value. Rooms were clean and well apportioned, although walls were thin and you could hear your neighbors rather easily. Elevators were very slow, especially the Century. Restaurants good but Vegas prices. Would stay there again.
The location, the amenities, and staff made this a 10/10 stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone. We were so happy with the price and so surprised with the quality and value, we couldn't believe it.
