Tamarine Restaurant & Gallery Palo Alto Reviews from The Last Year
Exquisite! Such a lovely spot for a birthday dinner.
Highly recommend the green jackfruit rendang, brussels sprouts, empress rise, banh mi roti, and chili lime aubergine. The garlic noodles and ninh binh clay pot rice were also delicious, but not as memorable or distinctive. Definitely a pricy meal, but worth it for a special occasion--the experience and service were top notch!

Yum!! I came with a group for a birthday dinner and left full and happy. We started with drinks for the table - a glass of brut rose for me, while others opted for the signature gin&tonic, a regular Hendricks gin&tonic, and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. For appetizers, we ordered the salt & pepper calamari, banh mi roti, and vegan avocado spring rolls. All three were absolutely amazing and came with incredible dipping sauces. We also had the coconut mushroom soup between appetizers and entrees which had a flavorful broth and was packed with mushrooms. The entrees we selected were the wok beef noodles (reminded me of a pad see eew), shaking beef, yellow chicken curry, basil tofu, and clay pot rice. Noodles and basil tofu were the favorites, but all the dishes were great. Next time I may opt for a side of coconut rice instead of the clay pot, but overall was super happy with everything we got. We went a little wild for dessert (we were celebrating!) and had the molten chocolate cake (with a surprise birthday candle!), sticky date cake, pineapple rice pudding, and banana beignets. The date cake was absolutely the winner among the group, but again you really can't go wrong. Portion sizes as Tamarine are generally smaller. Our group of 5 (admittedly hearty eaters) walked away without any leftovers and only felt that the dessert order was excessive - the entrees did amount to a lot of food, but nothing unmanageable.

We've been coming here yearly since my cancer diagnosis, treatment, surgery and recovery. It's a bit pricey but a worthy experience and a wonderful place to celebrate. It's a class act. Our most recent visit was most enjoyable. Our server was personable, professional and top notch. We come in November when it's chilly outside and our meal selection always warms us. We laugh because we've been seated in the same seat each time we've been and feel as if it's meant to be. Flavors jump out and tickle the senses. We'll be back in November. Can't wait.

I went to this restaurant and waited for 7 minutes no one acknowledged me at the front desk so I left. Unfriendly employees.

Its a shame when a great cuisine strays from its roots to create worldly cuisine so much is lost and often too little is gained. So is the case for Tamarine The crepe (referred to as tacos) appetizer worked well flavors were nice. However, we made the mistake of ordering two main dishes that were that just did not work. The duck was overcooked and way over salted ...there was little or no flavor on the plate...the Salmon had lost all touch with Vietnamese food and did not work - and it was costly. Perhaps it was our fault for the way we ordered. If you go stick with the Vietnamese-like dishes you may have a chance at a more star experience.
So good.
The shaking beef was superb - tender juicy and flavorful. Service was great and ambiance is upscale - along with the price you paid for. Haha.
Excellant
Tamarine continues to have excellent and interesting food. Superb Vietnamese cuisine, beautiful restaurant and excellent staff.
The food here is delicious and beautiful.
High quality for sure because the taste is there. I love the taro root rolls, the shaking beef. I was confused however when we got the tuna tartare. It looked more like poke, but was still OK. It was definitely not tuna tartare however. The lamb chops are delicious but too tough for me. Medium rare is probably better to cook instead of medium. I'll always come back!
My husband and I hosted 3 friends for dinner here.
The entire evening was excellent. The cocktails were off the hook. The wine list is extensive, with lots of options for all price range. The waiters are efficient, knowledgeable and not overly friendly. The food is outstanding. Excellent vegan options available so our friends had excellent choices. My favorite was the lemongrass sea bass and the tamarind prawns. The rice pudding was outstanding. Definitely going to return, glad this treasure of a dining experience is close to our home.
Great food and service
Excellent food and service with great vegan options and customisations. We were celebrating a special occassion and the staff sent a personalised card as well. I've visited this restaurant several times in the past and even with its excellent reputation the food and service is never complacent and really welcoming. Well worth the steep prices!
Decent food with the fine dining level of service
The food was alright. Had the lamb which was a simple dish but made in a way I haven't had before. The shaking beef and rice was good also. One of the staff members brought the rice dish out and finished mixing it up table side. Service was good. Waitress did her job and maintained a positive attitude even when dealing with more difficult customers. And you know you are in a fine dining restaurant when a guy comes by to get rid of EVERY single crumb that I had around my plate hehe.
This is not a Michelin..
We were disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. the service in the restaurant is simply non-existent, the waiters don't work... From the kitchen, very dubious combinations of Vietnamese and European food.. I hope the experts in the kitchen will overestimate the status of this restaurant.
Overrated food & poor/pushy “service”
Most of the items we ordered were average at best. Cocktail was bland, recommended beer was boring. Waitress was pushy, in a rush, and rushing us. She was Extremely inattentive, she never checked on us. We wanted to order more drinks several times, but never had the opportunity to do so. She seemed annoyed by our presence. Food wise, there is little attention to presentation, especially for a restaurant that is supposed to be of high caliber. The spring rolls, the shrimp, the green beans, and the Seabass were all very disappointing. The roti was fine. Only the Brussel sprouts & cod were good (but overly sweet). There are just so many better options in the area. This place has lost its touch.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
