Tasting menu
I am not a vegetarian but quite surprised how creative and tasty all the dishes in their tasting menu was. At that pricing, it's worthwhile to try once. The two of us were so full and barely finished all the dishes. The pacing of how fast the food came out was good, and two different dishes of each course came at a time.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is comparable to an uncomfortable village pub. The food for five people was served on two plates, which we then had to share. At the end we felt like we had paid for five and received food for four.

We have tried chef's menu, and there was nothing special about it. The portions were ridicously small, and we left hungry. Eat something home before going there.
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu, but so much better than most
Super cuisine, through all the courses. Great urban ambience. The courses were brought out briskly (almost too briskly, at times) but absolutely delicious from start to finish with interesting combinations of flavors and ingredients. This isn't a resto you can linger in. There is the overarching feel of 'eat up, we have someone who needs your table in 20 minutes' which detracts a bit from the experience. But at least the experience you get while there is satisfying.

Not a great dining experience. Restaurant is very small and the tables are very close to one another almost claustrophobic. Restaurant caters to reservations only for the Chef's Menu at $79 a person and walk in guests are left to order a la carte if there is any seating still available for unreserved guests who arrive after restaurant opening. I find this arrangement overly silly and convoluted. I found the portions ridiculously small and really unsatisfying. I was given a gift certificate and was excited to eat here as I am vegan, however, I did not find the food selection particularly healthy or appealing and size appropriate. Service was courteous until I presented my gift certificate whereupon the bill was just thrown on my table without any comment. I experienced the restaurant but will not go back.

Was excited to eat here as my wife is vegetarian and this restaurant supposedly has a Michelin mention Major disappointment! We had the tasting course with wine paring Wines were mediocre at best Food was average Service and execution dreadful We waited as much as 35 minutes between several courses The staff never looked at you and engaged Yes they explained the dishes and wines well but with no passion We will not return

Had a really lovely evening. Food was absolutely gorgeous, service was great. Would highly recommend for a romantic evening

We did the chef’s tasting menu and my husband and I both agreed this was one of the best meals, if not the best, we have ever had. The variety of flavors and ingredients makes other restaurant menus look boring in comparison. Everything is incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. You have to try their sourdough bread. The worst thing about this restaurant is that it’s located in Vancouver while my husband and I live in the USA.

A phenomenal evening! We really were blown away - the tasting menu was generous, interesting, delicious and abundant. Topped off with a great vibe, excellent service and all reasonably priced. Will definitely return and if you’re looking for a delicious meal in Vancouver do consider this as a worthy option.
Be the first to ReplyVeg can be Artful and Delicious!
What a nice find! While we both eat meat, we really enjoyed trying a spot with a focus on veggies. We did the tasting menu, which at that time featured an amuse with apricots done multiple ways, daikon salad, a parsnip dish, a salsify focused dish with a sauce I'd bottle up and take home if I could, and a carrot dish with what looked and tasted remarkably like sausage. The tasting menu came with a wine pairing, which allowed for us to try a BC sparkling wine, some orange wine from Germany and Austria, and a dessert wine - really fun to get some funky pours we wouldn't otherwise pick, but went great with the course. Our only issue was the claim of 4 courses. Each course had multiple plates and was sized pretty big - I think we actually had 9 courses. We're still full.

Terrible experience. Had the chef’s menu. Took my sister and mom for birthday brunch the weekend after they received Michelin recommendation. Slow service. Small portions. Couple next to us sat later and had faster service with larger portions. Mom found long hair in her food. Server asked us to describe it. Disgusting. Then proceeded to still serve dessert after we all clearly had lost our appetites. Bill came and they removed the one dish the hair was found in. Have written to management no response. Unprofessional through and through.
Be the first to ReplyBest vegan restaurant in Vancouver--and classy, too!
My absolute favourite restaurant. Get the chef's menu and wine pairing--I've done so several times and am never disappointed. In very high demand (for good reason), so be sure to make a reservation. A chic, romantic vibe that's great for friends and anniversaries. Even your omnivore friends will love it!

It's taken me far too long to write this (I went in June!!). However, I knew I must as Acorn deserves high praise! Their first huge thumbs up goes to actually seating us!! I had mixed up the dates...and accidentally booked for the following week. The host was so friendly and lovely, they quickly asked the chef if we could be squeezed in and sorted out a table for us. We were so grateful as we were going back to the UK the next day! So from the start the staff were fabulous, and it continued like this. We had the tasting menu and each course was delicious. Really interesting ingredients and a thorough description was given for each course which was fab. The cocktails were gorgeous too! I'd definitely recommend Acorn! Thank you for being so accommodating despite my silly mistake with the dates!

We had an absolutely fantastic evening and enjoyed a fabulous tasting menu of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The quality of the dishes are equal to most Michelin star restaurants we have eaten in and if this restaurant was in Dublin it would definitely be on the Michelin list. Cannot recommend enough. Superb.

Was visiting Vancouver for only a day but we had made reservations nearly a month in advance. We enjoyed every moment and every bite. The food was amazing, the service as exemplary....no complaints. I would go back often if I didn't live nearly 4000 miles away!
Be the first to ReplyTurning Tables is a Two Way Street
Had a very enjoyable Saturday brunch here. Loved the Sourdough bread, the zucchini omelet and the pancakes. We had a reservation, were in line before the restaurant opened and were the 3rd table to be seated. We had a busy day of sightseeing planned so when the waitress said we only had 90 minutes to eat and leave because of other reservations, we said no problem. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable but took awhile to take our orders and while we got our appetizers and drinks in an acceptable time, it ended up being an hour or so before we got our main courses. After about 15 minutes of eating, she came by to remind us we only had 15 minutes left to finish before they needed the table for the next party. We gently mentioned that we would have been done by now if the food had come more quickly. She brushed off the comment by saying the kitchen was busy. Well that is not our fault and if the restaurant wants to keep a tight schedule then their kitchen staff needs to be onboard too and do their part. This is a great choice for a vegan or vegetarian diner but they need to temper their expectations with their abilities.
Be the first to Replybartender called my drink request “rancid”
i normally never leave poor reviews, but when i went i tried to order the coffee cocktail with repasado tequila rather than the standard spirit. the bartender told my waiter who told me that she thought it would be “rancid” in front of the entire table and wouldn’t make the drink. I found this not only quite rude, but also very embarrassing! i understand not wanting to make a drink that sounds icky, and as a bartender myself I’ve made some drinks that I think sound awful, but I don’t think it was kind to shame my personal preferences. If she truly didn’t want to make it, I would have rather she said she just didn’t have the supplies. It felt very patronizing, particularly because I know I like coffee cocktails (yes, even ones with Bailey’s!) with tequila. I found it unprofessional and rude and I did cry a lil in the bathroom!! I don’t want the bartender to get in trouble, maybe just a reminder to not shame someone for what they like!

Had the chef’s flight which was delicious (and not inexpensive) until dessert arrived. Pretty much a melted green smoothie with bitter chunks of rhubarb with some tiny strawberry slices and blueberries topped with some popcorn. Our server suggested we embrace it which was the warning much needed. We did share that we didn’t enjoy the desert - which I couldn’t finish and sever shared it is “polarizing”. Sorry Acorn - major miss, dessert should leave me wanting for more and is the lasting memory of the meal. Seriously what was that?
Be the first to ReplyFabulous vegetarian tasting menu
It’s hard to create a vegetarian tasting menu that really knocks your socks off, but Acorn does it right. Each dish used fresh, seasonal ingredients that were innovatively prepared and presented. Even the carnivore in our group was impressed. This place is special.
