The food was very good and left very full.
We did the wine pairing which was interesting to say the least. Service was nice. The space is very small with a cozy vibe. Some tables feel a little too close together but we got lucky and sat at a 4 person table for 2 of us which felt great.

Went to the Acorn for a lunch visit and the food was really good! I wasn't sure about having brunch here but am glad that I did! The only downside was that the waitress accidentally spat while telling us the specials and never replaced the napkin which had the spit. Minor detail though!
Be the first to ReplySuch a cute spot for brunch! Lovely food and presentation.
I started with a tequila Caesar and it was so good! I opted for the mushroom and loved it. The crispy oyster mushrooms were so tasty and I loved the sauces. Pricier than expected ($23) but the flavors were on point.
Be the first to ReplyI went to the brunch service and got the chef's menu.
The was amazing and the presentation was great as well. The waiters were friendly, and I would highly recommend eating here, you won't regret it.

A friend and I visited during Dine Out 2024 to experience the tasting menu. My friend got stuck in transit and was almost 30 minutes late but they did seat me and take my drink order while I waited. They had to start bringing the food out before she arrived because of the way their kitchen operates. A few different servers came by our table throughout the night and everyone was very warm and professional. The timing of each course (after my friend arrived) was right on. Their dine out menu is $65/pp and mostly vegan, with just a few dairy dishes. A very similar all-vegan menu is available at no cost, as is a gluten-free menu . A few dishes had the option to add cheese for a small fee. Our vegan meal was served over 4 courses and included: Sourdough: Hearty toasted sourdough with a side vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was tasteless to me but the bread was amazing on its own. Squash: Shredded squash salad with hazelnuts, cilantro, and dried fruit, with hoisin sauce on the side to mix in. I loved the savoury-sweet combination with a hint of spice and pops of flavour from the swirls of hoisin. My favourite cold dish of the night. Sunchoke: Another nice sweet and savoury dish with crisp sunchoke in a slightly charred dressing, topped with berries. Shiitake: Tender shiitake mushrooms over a rich squash puree. I loved the flavour of the sauce with the subtle seaweed undertone from the kelp. Beet: Beet carpaccio with sauerkraut and fermented horseradish. I love fermented foods so I was a fan of this. Chicory: Braised endive dressed with elderflower, apple, and hazelnut. I liked the cooked endive but the raw elements of this dish just tasted "raw" and plain. This was my least favourite. Tomato: Cavatelli coloured black using leek ash in fermented tomato sauce. The black colour was inspired by squid ink pasta. The pasta was perfectly al dente. Pasta in tomato sauce is by no means an original idea but this was just a little different in subtle ways, and it was definitely my favourite dish of the night. Peach: For dessert, sorbet with spruce tip shortbread crumble. The piney and salty shortbread complimented the peach very well. Not as experimental as the savoury dishes, but still a delicious ending. You can add a wine pairing for each course for $30, We opted out of this because I didn't want to drink (and just don't like wine enough to add $30 to an already expensive meal). I got the nonalcoholic Lavanda Fizz mocktail instead, which was okay but a little weak on the lavender. lAt this price, I expected everything to be sublime, but I thought a few things were a little unpolished (as noted above, and my friend and I both would have liked one more hot dish in the mix). There were a few dishes that did wow me though, and I really enjoyed the experimental concept with the chance to try some uncommon foods. I don't regret shelling out the money once, but I'm undecided if I'd want to return, and if I did, I'd definitely want to order a la carte rather than do the regular $79 tasting menu, or maybe try brunch instead of dinner.

my first experience where as the food arrived it was presented with ingredients and where it was from. incredible. many vegan options. everything was DELICIOUS. their sourdough toast... omg heaven. staff were kind and knowledgeable. great service.

Divine, fully vegetarian eatery with a menu that is very celiac friendly. About 80% of dishes come gluten free without alteration or substitutes (beet dish pictured). A group of 4 of us walked in because we didn't want to commit to the chef's menu and instead shared multiple plates. My personal favourite was the salsify butter dish. The hostess was very kind and got us a table very quickly after we were initially told it would be about an hour's wait at peak dinner time on a Saturday. We got a text to come back to the restaurant after just a few minutes. The service was great, apart from one small slip up of forgetting my drink until after the meal. They were apologetic and hasty in getting another one prepared. We were all blown away from the flavours and keen on returning to try the chef's menu on a special occasion.

So happy to get a reservation here on a Sunday night for the chefs tasting menu while visiting Vancouver. The restaurant checked in a couple days prior to discuss any allergies and/or dietary preferences that our party of 3 might have. Upon arrival, we were welcomed and seated right away. The restaurant space is low-key, semi-casual, and a bit laid back. Excellent vegan food that is served family style between everyone at the table. Each course was beautifully presented and thoroughly explained by the server and while portions seemed reasonable we were fuller than expected when we got up to leave which is not always the case with tasting menus. Being the only true vegetarian in my party, the two others were extremely pleased with this vegan tasting experience and raved about how good each course was. You most certainly will not leave hungry.

I went here for my birthday and ate the 7 course meal, the food was fantastic. As a vegetarian, I am often disappointed with meals in high end restaurants lacking favor and creativity, this was not the case here. All the meals were interesting and delicious. The service was also great. The only downside was the seating set up. The tables were very close together, and it was really hard to hear because of the amount of people in the small space. I think it's worth it anyway, and I'll definitely be back.

I tried their tasting menu and everything was good but it was not filling for some reason - I wish they had a pasta or a main which was more filling - very little cheese as well but I'm going to visit again - service was fantastic and the tastes were spot on

Be the first to ReplyIt was a great dining experience.
It was my first time at a vegetarian restaurant and the server to the time to explain every dish to our table. We ordered the radish top for the appetizer. This was our least favorite dish as it was way too sour and we couldn't finish it. We tried both of the mains -cavatelli and morel. Both dishes had a really delicious sauce. I enjoyed eating the morel mushrooms. It was fun to try something new and it had an interesting texture. It was cooked in 3 different ways in the dish. Side note: The space is a bit tight in the middle, I think I will prefer a table on the side next time.

Ich hatte nรคmlich kein 6 gang Menรผ gebucht. Ok. Trotzdem unangenehm.

I usually go to The Acorn with my friends and we have an amazing time with the choices of food and drinks recommended by the the Brazilian guy server. Who knows wish I could remember his name. However, today the service was horrible and the woman server was bitter and lackadaisical. It is not to say that we won't go back but next time we would g there when the kind Brazilian bar tender is there.

Raised by a great cook and I love food, cooking. Been before, but this was the first time trying the Chef's Menu for brunch. $40 a person. 3 of us. 7 dishes total, cut in 1/3's. The hot dog potato was a great start . 4 (for 3 people?) ย little blini with beet, carrot caviar- meh. Next, a crunchy daikon salad. Not a brunch dish. Out of place. Frittata was fine. Fried mushrooms on ONE waffle was yummy, but again divided in 3. ย The pancake with hazelnut butter and raspberries was delish and a good size for sharing. Sorbet to close. Also not brunch. Who wants sorbet at 12:30 on a cold rainy day?? To recap, 3 great dishes out of 7 equals a fail. Especially when you're getting a 3 bites of each and paying $40 at brunch. I'll be back, but I wouldn't get the Chef's menu and I wouldn't recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for a friends birthday brunch.
I had no idea when I got there that it was a vegetarian spot and I had previously had bacon on my mind for brunch. I was pleasantly surprised with how great all the food was(made me forget about the bacon). The cavatelli was delicious and the breakfast sandwich was great as well although a bit small. The pancake on the other hand was ginormous, it doesn't come with syrup though so I suggest adding that if you order it. Waffle was good and the potatoes and the sauce on it was great!

We are both meat eaters but agreed this was one of the most amazing meals we've had in a long time!

I rarely write reviews, but am making an exception for this spot. My wife and I came here for dinner last night and it was delightful. The food was delicious, innovative, well presented, and thoroughly satisfying. The drinks were well balanced also. The service was friendly and helpful. Couldn't recommend this spot more highly!

Acorn was never on my list as I'm a huge meat eater, but we decided to give it a try as we were in the area and wow, I'm glad we did! Although you have to pay for the bread, I can assure you that it's worth it. ย Their sourdough is incredible and I wish I could bring some home to make avocado toast!I believe their menu changes pretty often but everybody agreed that the squash tempura was the best dish that day, as it was fried to perfection. ย The other items that creatively used mushrooms were amazing as well, and I hope to someday try their tasting menu!

My partner and I went to Acorn last night and had, not exaggerating, one of the best, if not the best, dining experiences of our lives. From the welcoming host, to our enthusiastic and knowledgeable server, to the absolutely world class food, we were blown away at every aspect. If you can afford it, I highly highly highly recommend ordering the Chef's Menu. Every single dish we sampled was aesthetically gorgeous with the most unique and creative ingredients that combined to deliver the most balanced, rich, satisfying EATABLE meals I've had. I hadn't been to Acorn in about 3 years and while it was always enjoyable last night's meal will stay with me for the rest of my life. They mentioned changing their menu every season so we're already planning another special night out in the spring. Thank you to the artists at Acorn for such a joyful experience.

Our pancake no picture was taken because it was a little disappointing since they make it burnt on the outside. The other dishes were great!

We went to acorn for dine-out Vancouver and were really excited to try it. We didn't have any expectations. It was a 7 course meal for 67$. Which I thought was fair. I knew it was a vegetarian restaurant but what we got was SO DISAPPOINTING! It was even ridiculous. We were 4 people under this reservation. So first course was a one inch rutabaga roll with veggies inside. It was TINY and SO acid! Quite unpleasant. The worst part was we didn't expect the rest of the meal to be that way. They served us 2 tiny salads... and the plates, even what was supposed to be the main dish was split in 4. Everything was vinegar... beginning to end. At some point we thought this is a joke. The dessert had some vinegar in the. And it was SO unpleasant! Honestly. I will never recommend this place! The photo that I'm posting is the first dish. Imagine that it's a 7 course meal for 67$. It's about 10$ per plate (round up). Which means the plate was 40$!!!!! Which doesn't make sense since there was about 1$ total of products in there. If you want to waste your time, your money and go home hungry with a stomach ache. Go there. But I will never go back and support a restaurant that is CLEARLY overrated.

I've always said, that the same thing that happened to Tesla needs to happen to veganism... Tesla made electric cars and electrification look and feel sexy. The same thing needs to ring true with veganism.I'm glad that establishments such as The Acorn, are here to elevate that cuisine and culture.Bravo for being pioneers.#first

5 years later, just after they reopened for brunch, we decided to return to try their fresh brunch menu. It did not disappoint. We ordered the "Oyster" ($8) appetizer to start, which is presented like a real oyster dish but made with oyster mushrooms served in oyster shells, with horseradish and a vinegary hot sauce -- what a bizarre dish. I can't say I really liked it, but it was a fun experience. 3/5I ordered the Cavatelli ($21), a pasta dish that comes with homemade pasta and mixed wild mushrooms -- ordinarily it comes with egg, but I got it vegan (no substitute, sadly; they just omit the egg). Absolutely delicious, beautiful textures, and balanced flavours. Fantastic. 5/5My wife ordered what must've been the best pancake ($15) we've ever tried. It's just one pancake, but it's fluffy and thick, served with a berry compote, raspberries, roasted hazelnuts, and a hazelnut spread. Absolutely decadent, but not too sweet or cloying in any way. Wonderful. 5/5Top-notch service and bottomless coffee ($4) rounded out the experience beautifully. Still one of the best vegan brunch spots in town. Highly recommended.
Be the first to ReplyWe visited The Acorn for the first time while visiting
We visited The Acorn for the first time while visiting Vancouver for my birthday and loved the experience! The restaurant is small and feels quite intimate with about 6 tables + a small bar. They have a few spaces available for a walk-in a-la-cart menu, but the chef's tasting menu (reservations required) is what's truly special here. The entire restaurant is vegetarian with an available vegan option - and as a vegan person, I can tell you that vegan chef's menus are not easy to find. The chef's menu is served family-style so it's worth noting that if 1/2 of your party is vegan (as ours was), everyone will be served the vegan option. Not to worry, only a few of the dishes were different from the non-vegan menu and my meat-eating fiancรฉ didn't feel like he missed out on anything at all. We opted for the wine pairing as well which was so unique and really enhanced the experience of the meal. For those with sensitive stomachs and/or low alcohol tolerances, they do allow 2 people to split a wine pairing, which we did and found to be a perfect amount. The food was rich, unique, and flavorful, but too much so (something I was worried about as one of those people with sensitive stomachs), and the staff could not have been friendlier. What a fun, delicious, and special experience!
