We arrived a little ahead of our booking to be told our table wasn’t ready just yet, which is perfectly fine and was told to take a walk around the area. Why not, it’s a rainy Sunday? This isn’t a complaint but a observation, they like to pour the wine at the table and take away the stress of doing this yourself, however keep an eye on the glasses to top them up when low or in our case empty for almost 10 minutes. I like the style of service just wasn’t executed well at all. Like a training day. The food, whilst said the seabream tartare was a great dish. The roast wasn’t, very bang average something you’d find in a Youngs pub for example, didn’t want to write home for it, they said roast carrots and clearly boiled all veg was boiled and tossed in a seasoned butter on service, again not saying this is a bad roast, not at all. But for the standards they set you want to walk away with that roast blowing your mind, and quiet frankly it was meh? Positive was the size of the meat portions they didn’t hold back, but again did lack in flavour, in fact I’m almost certain the mint sauce was shop brought (Coleman’s) I figured. Earl grey tart was ok? Wasn’t indulgent but was very light and perhaps after the 2 courses only that was needed we had 1 to share. On another service level, we noticed a couple tables around us had their meals described to them by the waiter ours, with low effort placed the dish in front of us and wondered off, even leaving - it was a sad sorry goodbye whilst he was off somewhere else head not even pointing towards us to attempt to crack a smile. If I was to walk in again with himself greeting like before I would turn around and head to a bog standard pub to expect the same style of service for 10th of the price. All in all, not great I would like to try again mid week, and give it another chance. I’m not so sure I would though. Thanks.
