Perfectly Delicious!
Our son, my husband and I chose the Chef’s Tasting Menu and had an excellent meal! We began with a Tito’s Martini and stayed with water for the rest of the meal. Each dish was perfectly seasoned and prepared. Service was timed as we finished one course the next was delivered. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu while being personable and funny. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for its food, service, and ambience.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous Meal, Great Service
My family had an amazing meal at Zaytinya. We did have to wait for a minute or two for our table to be ready (we made reservations two weeks in advance), and the restaurant was packed, but once we were seated the service was great, and the food was just phenomenal. Definitely a loud, high-energy atmosphere, or at least that was how it was in the area of the restaurant where we were seated, but that did not detract from the quality of the experience.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Great food, great service, great vibe. Will come back when next in DC, for sure.
Be the first to ReplyVery interesting and very characteristic
We ordered several appetizers and they were all very tasty. The service was excellent and the place was very well lit. I already want to go back there the next time I'm in the Center
Be the first to ReplyGood Mediterranean cuisine and American atmosphere
Greek/Turkish restaurant, but very American in organization and management. Crowded for dinner even on a weekday, 2 of us arrived without a reservation and found a place to dine at the counter. Good food. Of Greek and even more Turkish inspiration, just Americanized Acceptable price for the place

Nice restaurant but quite noisy. Also had to change tables as every time the door opened cold air came rushing in. Drinks expensive with poor pours. Had a variety of dishes, spinach pie was dry, lamb chops stringy, octopus and Brussels sprouts were ok, dip with feta good. Bread served at table was great. Forgot the remainder of dishes as nothing had any wow factor. Pretty pricey, with tax and tip about $200/ couple.
Be the first to ReplyMostly Enjoyable Birthday Dinner
I only get to D.C. every few years, so I was so happy to finally snag a reservation here for my birthday. The waiter with the French accent was a little snooty, and while I heard him making suggestions to other tables, he made none to my son and I. He then proceeded to scoff at what we ordered - mu teen wanted fries and mostly meat tapas - but seemed to warm up once I ordered an extra plate of tapas, a cocktail, and dessert. All in all, I enjoyed my birthday meal and didn't let him ruin my experience. Everything was delicious, and I'd go back. Oh, and the bread is to die for!!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dining experience
This was hands down the best dining experience we've had in Washington DC. Among really great places, this was our favourite one, so much that we went back 3 times while in the city! And we found it in NYC now, too. Best dish we tried was the crispy brussels sprouts, but we just loved the freshly made, light, still warm bread served complimentary. Hummus, baba ganoush, htipiti were our best spreads, but also the dishes like za'atar pide, shish tawook, chicken soup... Honestly, every single thing we tried there was perfectly made. Personnel was very attentive, professional and friendly (every single time we came) which also needs to be mentioned. Definitely recommend this place - if you have a chance to try it out, please do!
Be the first to ReplyBest in DC? Could be…
Out of 9 nights out in DC, this place has the best food & service by far…restores my faith in the places that cater to Gens Y-Z. Excellent in every way.
Be the first to ReplyAn "Off" Night?
They were exceptionally busy for vary on a Wednesday evening. We sat outside which led to our food getting cold fairly quickly. Service was nearly non-existent. that waiter took our order then we did not see him until 45-minute later when he asked if we wanted desert. I mentioned that one of our small plates had never been delivered to the table even though I had asked busboys for it twice. He was apologetic and brought the missing food (which was quite good). If this had been my first visit, I'd give it two stars. However, I have been here a half dozen times before. Sometimes hosting international delegations. The previous experiences have all been exceptional, so I'll chalk this up to an "off" night.

Beautiful setting and delicious food, served tapas style. Everything was outstanding. I would still under order until the food comes because it does add up quickly! Everything is delicious and well presented. Don't be nervous about trying something new. Staff is very attentive. Can be noisy with the high ceilings and reverberations on the multiple vertical surfaces. Consider placement within a group if you have any hearing issues.

I used to go here often for after work happy hours and work events. My company had a holiday party here. I’m a fan of all the humanitarian work that Chef Andres is doing around the world. The interior seems a bit outdated and needs a refresh. It’s a beautiful space with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. The menu could also use a refresh. I do enjoy their seafood, like the octopus and branzino.
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, excellent service, and outstanding small plates
We went with some friends on a Saturday evening and the place was hopping. It was a very fun atmosphere. The drinks were all excellent. We ordered 8-10 small plates to share for four people and each was better than the next. The mushrooms were the real stars. Desserts were also quite good--walnut dessert was tops. Service was wonderful--well-paced.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Food but the floor shook by the bar
Food was interesting and plentiful. Good service and not too noisy although pretty loud. Pretty quick as well.
Be the first to ReplyA Bit Disappointing
My wife and I have been to various celebrity chef places before, to include Jose's popup at the National Gallery a long time ago, and we love his food, books, and programs. But this fell short. We both had the Valentine's Day tasting menu and a bottle of wine, but the food seemed to be a bit off themed, with one dish being very Scandinavian, and others just being a bit off. Service was confused-- the bottle arrived with our second course, and dishes were whisked away, or at least attempted to be taken, while we were still working on them. I hope this was just an off day or a failed special menu, but I'm not going back to find out. Dinner for two and a mid-range bottle was nearly $350, it really wasn't worth it compared to other venues in the city.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to lunch
Another great place for lunches especially. Very friendly staff. Good value for money. We are regulars. The bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Be the first to Replypoor service
Overall it was jut an okay experience, this was my first time there with some business friends visiting from out of town.
Be the first to ReplyGood meal, attentive service
Greeted by friendly staff and seated immediately for our dinner reservation. Our server checked in on us frequently and very helpful with menu suggestions. We ordered several small plates and drinks. The brussel sprouts and beet salad were the stand outs. Chocolate rose dessert was a solid ending. If you park at the garage across the street, make sure confirm when they close! Thanks to a helpful building resident, we were able to retrieve our car.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, service, ambiance
Excellent service by Ada and the service team. The ambiance is lovely with modern decor and wonderful lighting. The food is wonderful - everything we ordered for a table of 6 was delicious. Well seasoned, excellent variety, wonderful puff bread! The dessert of apricot and vanilla yogurt was a perfect ending for an absolutely top notch meal.

I came to Zaytinya after a performance at Ford's Theatre. I was disappointed to see a foyer full of people and was resigned to a long wait, but was pleasantly surprised when the hostess said they had booths available in the bar. I was also pleased to find that the bar wasn't the usual dark hole, but was light and bright (albeit with lighting appropriately dimmed for the evening). Despite being busy, I was brought my drink order swiftly and the waiter promptly took my order. Zaytinya is a mezze restaurant, meaning that you're expected to order 2-3 small plates to comprise your meal. I decided to start with the Chicken Youvetsi (chicken braised with tomato and cinnamon, kefalograviera cheese, and kritharaki pasta). It was excellent. I was eyeing a salmon dish for my second plate, but between the Chicken Youvetsi and the four puffy pita breads they brought to me, I was already full. I ordered a dessert simply because I was so happy with the food and service. BTW, don't expect to find the usual Greek dishes like gyro sandwiches and souvlaki here -- this is more sophisticated Greek fare. I would love to come here again next time I'm in WashDC -- but with a bigger appetite next time.
Be the first to ReplyTasty but not quite what I expected
This was our first time here and while enjoyable, it wasn't the experience that I expected. The decor is great, the service was fine, and the food was tasty. However, the tapas plates were expensive, were pretty small, and weren't that exciting. I will say, however, that the puffy bread was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyReally delicious dishes and excellent service
The restaurant was completely packed when we went, but that did not diminish the really great service. Our dishes came out in sets of two, all timed beautifully to allow us to enjoy the whole meal. The number of waitstaff handing the restaurant with the baskets of wonderful, warm, fluffy pitas was amazing - we were never without the fresh bread. While not every dish was amazing, everything was so fresh and delicious and the portions were great. The highlights, for us, were the Brussels sprouts, and the grilled Halloumi cheese with pomegranate seeds and dates - both dishes were just fantastic. The chicken youvetsi with rice in a tomato sauce was also excellent. The falafel, as well as the lamb baharat, were nicely spiced. The kolokitokeftedes was delicious - so different. The only thing that was a little weird, for us, was the piyaz, the sauce that the giant beans were in just didn't work. The crispy eggplant was ok, just a little boring. We thought the service was outstanding and the wait staff were all very helpful in reminding us what dishes they were bringing out. Most dishes were $11-$12, so it's not too bad for mezze-style. The staff recommended three to four dishes per person for sharing and that was just right for us. It was a lovely experience.
