Il Ridotto Restaurant Venezia Reviews from The Last Year
Very good. Return !!!
Very good. I think the portions are very good, the preparation is balanced and the price is the best I have eaten in Italy. I would definitely return
Thank you Viola!
Magnificent “piccolo gourmet ristorante” a due passi da Piazza San Marco. Creative cuisine, color and flavor! Bella list of wine! E SOPRATTUTTO la gentilezza et la benevolenza di VIOLA che regala a questa stanza splendidamente decorata un’esperienza extremely serena! Magnificent “small gourmet restaurant” very close to San Marco Square. Creative, colorful and flavorful cuisine! Nice wine list! AND ESPECIALLY the kindness and benevolence of VIOLA who gives this beautifully decorated room an extremely serene experience!
Fantastic dinner spot
Wonderful place to have creative but genuine cuisine. Seafood heavy, because it is Venice, but there are many other options if you need. The suggested courses were varied and exciting. Maybe surprisingly, dessert was the best - a frozen grapefruit thing with vanilla and chocolate Viola, our server, was great also
Venetian Secret
This restaurant has a touch of class; we had the tasting menu with matching wines, no prior indication of the courses but each one was a wonderful surprise, Viola at front of house is very friendly and competent, we left with nice memories, unassuming but superb
Big fall in style, After the loss of the Michelin star, unfortunately the raw material is not worthy of the cost.
On a Monday evening 3 tables occupied, two tables of French and the two of us opted for the Fish tasting menu 130 euros per person, we paired a basic Chablis vintage 22 at a cost of 75 euros, the non-existent service followed by a gentleman, with slippers and an innkeeper's apron, from time to time he went back and forth to the the tavern next door L'accighetta. We were served some Sicilian oil with some simple regenerated bread, as a welcome, some creamed cod with a too fatty taste, it seemed like they had used cream, and a tatelletta with sweet mayonnaise and scraps of raw sea bass which you can find as a second course on the menu, as an appetizer raw prawns with micro leeks, but good, followed by imported scallops, with banal mushrooms and scorzone truffle just 3 flakes of number, this dish was presented with black truffle nothing special, but if you communicate black truffle it must be black, Following this came a seafood risotto, cooked with a broth and garnished with kazzubuschi, loose and too al dente, the second course was a farmed sea bass, very small and thin, the skinless tails were paired and covered with a saffron zabaglione, at the end comes a dessert made up of pieces of white and milk chocolate placed on top of a crumble of black polenta, with grapefruit granita. Not a bad idea, but the execution should be more careful, after a while with a coffee and a grappa it arrives a piece of slightly over-toasted hazelnut brittle and two biscuits, the total cost for two people was 350 euros, for Venice there is room for that, with a more attentive and adequate service, but above all high-end raw materials and more transparency
Relaxed restaurant with a focus on local produce and food tradition
Il Ridotto is a small fine dining restaurant run by a father-son duo who recreate traditional cuisine with a modern twist. Most ingredients are from Venice, and one of the three wine pairing options only contains wine from the region, too. Service was friendly and attentive. Initially, the pace at which the various courses were served was just perfect, however, as the restaurant became busier during the night, things slowed down a bit. We found the dishes all of high quality. Based on local tradition, all dishes were centered around local produce and fish from the lagoon. If you like well-made food served in a nice, relaxed atmosphere, you will enjoy a night out at Il Ridotto.
3 hour disaster
This spot is great for 3 hour wait times and uninspired food with one half decent dish on the menu. Everything else is a disaster. There is one employee working there and it did not help that she was also the hostess. She kept telling us 5 more minutes but in really we sat there for 3 hours to get our main course. I really did not enjoy this dinner with my family and I do not recommend it to anyone. Thank you for your time.
Pretentious and disappointing
We went for lunch, with good expectations, since among others, the restaurant was recommended by the Michelin guide. The place is nice and the service is always friendly, but we felt disappointed, because although the food was not bad, it did not stand out at all; We found it rather pretentious. But what announced the mediocrity that we would ultimately see were the appetizers: we ordered a Dry Martini and a Campari Spritz. They didn't know how to do either! Which, in Venice, the city of aperitif, birthplace of cocktails and above all, of the Spritz, is, to say the least, a capital sin. What we were served was a Vermouth Martini Bianco on the rocks and an analcolic bitter respectively. When I discussed it with the waitress and she in turn with the owner, they denied it. Very disappointing.
A birthday dinner to cherish
My wife and I just completed an outstanding evening extravaganza at Il Ridotto. Gianni & Nicola Bonacorrsi created a gourmet delight tonight to celebrate my birthday, visiting this restaurant for the first time from Toronto. Welcomed and given our choice of seating, we began with selecting from tasting menus or an a la carte menu, we chose the former, a 5 course fish menu. Having started with Prosecco in our hotel, we selected two glasses wonderful white wines, a Sauvignon and a Malvasia. Both wines were outstanding. Our meal began with a gazpacho soup accompanied by a small dish of cod. These were so tasty that we wondered whether the rest of the meal could measure up? But we were not disappointed. Three scallops topped with shredded zucchini followed that were perfectly cooked ringed by a toothsome sauce. Next we savored the mushrooms and calamari that were nothing short of outstanding. Green fish risotto, a mouth-watering plate that was satisfying and delicious. The main was a riccioli, a Mediterranean white fish that was soft and delicate, topped with perfectly cooked eggplant. And finally aside from my birthday candle in sweet orange square, the dessert was a medley of citrus sauces covered with biscuits and flaked chocolate. Its was a complex dessert that I am certain I have not done justice to in my description but was absolutely wonderful. We ordered 2 glasses of Limoncello only to find it was homemade! Not to be put off by the amber color of the limoncello, we were totally blown away by its perfect flavor, smooth and light quality and intense after kick. The service was nothing short of perfect. Gianni explained the tasting menu, each plate was then served with an explanation and the pace between plates was well-timed. The staff were helpful but not overbearing and the ambience was warm and friendly. I am at a loss to leave a single comment on how to improve our evening; as is often said, it is difficult to improve on perfection. Thank you for making my birthday celebration such a special occasion and for serving your customers with such grace and panache. We cannot wait to return to Venice and to enjoy Il Ridotto again. Cheers and best wishes, Jerrold & Robin Lerman
Great food, quiet atmosphere.
We skipped the tasting menus and picked our own. In a word, it was great. Lobster, scallops, risotto, fish, guinea fowl, beautiful deserts. I can't recommend it highly enough.
This place was incredible.
They were so kind and accommodating. My husband has a fish allergy and the chef made him a special pizza as a welcome amuse bouche. The restaurant was an elegant spot inside with air conditioning and a nice break for all the crazy busy tourist areas. The food itself was outstanding and worth a visit. The best place we visited for dinner in Venice.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
