🙂
We came here Sunday 12/18/22 around 7pm.
We didn't have the fate to be able to try the chef's tasting menu $595. It was fully booked in November and December. But we still wanted to try before they officially close down at the end of December so we tried their Bar menu instead. We tried everything except the sauteed pears with vanilla ice cream and golden osetra caviar. Caviar was $250. It was definitely a lot cheaper than the tasting menu. It's about $400ish if you try everything. So it was about $386 for our bill but including 2 wine glasses. We also got full off the breads that come with the dishes. We also asked if there's any off menu dish that we could try. The white truffle pasta was $225. Very pricey, so we didn't do it. It's the only option if you still want to try Manresa before it closes down. There's 4 seats at the bar counter and 2 lounge sofas. We sat at one of the lounge sofa since that's the only seat that's open. We saw 2 tables outside but it's way too cold to sit outside. Doesn't look like there's any heat lamps. The lounge area doesn't have much a wait since people don't really eat and drink long. We saw people leave and come for the bar area quite often. We stayed for about 2 hours. Most of the food we had were good. The lighting was dim and temperature was warm. Service was ok. Bartender took a while to refill our water glasses and give us our bill. But he's the only person servicing the bar area. We also needed suggestions on white wines, so the bartender brought over the wine connoisseur. He kept telling us about the wines, but not on how the wine tastes and the notes lol...At least he was knowledgeable.Parking is either street or the public/customer parking lot. Very easy parking when we went on Sunday night. But there could be some improvements. Wished we could have been able to try the chef's menu but it's quite pricey. You won't get the whole experience at the Bar area, but it's better than nothing now.Bonito tuna sashimi style- very fresh Pate de Campagne- too saltyGrilled gruyere & black truffle sandwich- very oil & buttery, didn't taste any truffle taste. But guyere was good. It's just like a grilled cheese sandwich.Charcoal grilled Manresa Bread Levain and Foie gras- very good. Foie gras is fatty and oily.Grilled beef tongue sandwich- so tender and melt in your mouthDuck terrine & apricot confiture- not salty at all and has pistachio nuts. Good textureDaily dessert selection- chocolate granache & chocolate gelato with gold flakes- very goodFosse-seche Saumu "Arcane", Loire Valley 2018- chenin blanc, dry, smoothBuisson-battault bourgogne-Aligote , France 2018- rose, smooth, has a hint of sweetness

I've been getting more into fine dining in the past few
I've been getting more into fine dining in the past few years and you truly get what you pay for with Michelin star restaurants. Manresa has three stars and is frequently booked out so make sure to plan in advance for special occasions. I was very excited to celebrate my birthday here with their Early Fall Garden menu. We opted for wine pairings and every pairing was exceptional. I especially enjoyed the unique beers and rare wines. The servers are incredibly knowledgeable and seem to enjoy talking about the wines and food. One of my favorite things about Manresa is that it's very approachable in the world of fine dining. Yes the service is impeccable but the atmosphere is not at all stuffy and they had tasteful music lightly playing in the background and people were having actual conversations and enjoying a wonderful experience rather than whispering across a table. We were initially greeted with breads from their famous bakery. I wasn't fond of the flavored butter that accompanied but the bread was tasty and crust was very nice.First presentation was petit fours, unique because they look like sweets but had red bell pepper and a black olive version. I enjoyed the olive one more. Granola crisp with goat cheese followed. Tasty small bite but not particularly memorable. Sea urchin bavarois was very fresh and a wonderful example of the perfect bite of sea urchin. Clam and matsutake mushroom in seafood essence was one of my least favorite dishes. The mushroom and clam had very similar textures and it was a little off-putting. Shellfish essence was overly salty, like seawater but that might be the point. Into the vegetable garden tart was truly beautifully plated, like taking a walk into a vegetable garden of my childhood and discovering new plants sprouting. Abalone lobster mushroom and chestnut was tasty but I wasn't a fan of the chestnut addition. Again, a personal texture preference. Turbot with endive and seaweed was very interesting, really liked the different types of seaweed used. Wagyy with cauliflower and black garlic was our only meat plating and it was very delicious. Dessert was a honey custard with watermelon and huckleberry and petit fours. Dinner with wine pairing for two will run about 1700. This was certainly a great experience where the food was elevated by unique presentations and wonderful service. I'd definitely recommend it for people who appreciate food.

So, I went to Manresa last night.
Here is what I just texted my old college buddy about the experience:"Manresa.Be still my beating heart. OMG. I died and went to heaven. All other food is so basic now. I am ruined.Just sitting down to dinner at home and what a letdown of a chef I am."Bottome line: You will need to save up for this place but OH WOW is it worth it. Service was outstanding, kind and not intrusive or pretentious. The food and location is magical. I loved the creativity and attention to detail of each dish and presentation. Finally, I marveled at the hard work that went into each course - impressive. I am sorry for so much adulation but it was a memorable experience. I can't help myself.Dining tip: wear an elastic waistband and comfortable shoes

We sure do like our fine dining.
This time at the Michelin Starred restaurant. Been there twice. The pics were from our first visit. Each dish was exquisite in presentation and taste! We did the tasting meal so there were more than enough courses. Add on top, the cheese platter (upcharge) and you'll be more than full at the end of the evening. Not sure how often the menu changes, whether it's weekly or monthly, but I know we didn't have the same courses during our second visit. Perfect ambience for a nice romantic evening. One thing you have to be aware of is the large group setting. For our second visit we had a table for 8. We prepaid a reservation fee to book it. Once the wine (which was amazing by the way) started flowing and 8 good friends chatting away, the noise level did start to go up. But hey, we were all trying to fun catching up after a long time. Our table was tucked in the back part of the restaurant away from the main dining. There was absolutely no one else sitting near us. One of the waiters comes by and tells us that we are being too loud and we did apologize, but he continued to tell us that the table that we got usually costs $12,000 and that we were paying much less. I'm really not sure why he would have to mention that. It was up to them to book it and they accepted it. We didn't coerce them into doing so or trying to negotiate. As I walked about the room, I didn't see anyone waiting for tables in the lobby and there were plenty around us so I began to wonder what the reasoning was to tell us that we won the lottery for not having to pay full price. This definitely was a downer. But our main waitress (sorry, not sure of the fancy name for her) was awesome. She didn't once make us feel uncomfortable. In fact, we closed down the restaurant. It was a 6 hour dining experience and the company and the food is what made the evening. Due to this treatment, however I'm downgrading this to 3 stars, similar to their Michelin rating. We did get to meet David Kich and get a photo with him so that was awesome. This was neat since he is retiring soon.

26th Wedding Anniversaey celebration! The restaurant is darkly lit, quiet and comfortable with staff who are friendly and professional. We were excited as each course came out, but ultimately, not crazy about the price point for what we were served. Our main protein was squab with a claw left on the leg - I suppose I should be wowed by that, but I wasn't, and the meat on the leg was dry and tough. We did enjoy some very good items, like the Granola Crisp with Goat Cheese, and the Halibut and Citrus. The desserts are beautiful and absolutely delicious. Alsoon't let the dress code fool you; there was a couple seated next to us who were wearing sweats and tennis shoes. Although I'm not convinced it was worth the price, I'm glad we finally dined at Manresa.

Came here to celebrate my birthday.
It was my second visit - the last time I visited was before the pandemic. Food was amazing as always. I liked every dish on the menu. It's one of those places you go to celebrate special occasions and the whole experience makes for a great night. When I went last time, for the bread course, they brought out this giant bread basket with different options and you could choose but that wasn't this case this time which made me a bit sad. The bread they served was still quite yummy though. I also found the service to have slipped a little bit as sometimes my water cup was empty and I had to wait a bit for someone to notice and refill it.
😍
Wonderful meal perfect service.
Celebrated my birthday here with my girlfriend and it was perfect. Thank you!

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Refined and understated*Reservations on Tock*A Michelin 3 star restaurant Manresa has been on our list to experience Chef Kinch's masterful cooking techniques. We finally made the trip just in time before Chef Kinch moves on to his next chapter.....We wish for you good health, happiness and adventures! This is what we ate/drank:A delicious tasting menu with wine pairings andchampagne.****************************************** The Summer Garden Eleventh of September 2022-Petit fours "red bell pepper-black olive"-Granola crisp with goat cheese-Halibut and melon-Spot prawn, geoduck and razor clam-Into the vegetable garden......-Caviar with Spiny tail lobster-Salmon with cucumber soup-Black cod demi sel with spinach and beans-Wagyu with chanterelles and black garlic-Honey custard, watermelon and huckleberryFig, hazelnut and Grains of Paradise-Petit fours "strawberry-chocolate"******************************************The entire restaurant exudes a welcoming ambiance with an exciting energy or was it because I was excited to be there. The decor is an open minimalist decor with beautiful scattered wood pieces and a conversational vespa too.The service was attentive and swift without being intrusive. The sommeliers were so engaging and full of knowledge which peaks your interest in listening and learning about the wines they have selected in the different regions and special notes about the wine makers. Manresa has an extensive and impressive wine list. Enjoyed the wine experience! Chef Kinch executes each dish masterfully bringing out layers of flavors and elevates it with exceptional finesse. The fish dishes were prepared to perfection which resulted in a moist, very tender delicate flesh combined with a sublime sauce and seasoning. We thoroughly enjoyed the lobster and caviar with a brown butter sauce. Indescribable, it was stupendous! But wait the dish "Into the vegetable garden..." was absolutely beautiful with amazing colors like a bouquet on a plate. A wonderful dish so amazing, the freshness, taste and texture. An unforgettable dining experience!Highly recommend.

We dined here for the first time to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful experience. Christopher was our server and he was great. They e-mailed for all preferences prior to arrival and we booked using Tock. The food was outstanding. Some of our favorites were the salad, uni dish and the grilled prawn. We did not enjoy the squab, as the meat had zero salt and the sauce was way too salty. It was actually surprising that the meat was so bad without the sauce in a three Michelin started restaurant. Dessert was unique and delicious.Overall, we had a pleasant experience! One other improvement would be adding valet. It was not ideal to have street parking at a three michelin starred restaurant, especially given the price point.
😍
Their loaf bread and pastries are out of this world.
Not a big fan of their coffee but I definitely recommend their other products.

At a 3 Michelin star restaurant with the price point to match, there is a level of excellence that is to be expected. Manresa certainly met that high bar and presented a very enjoyable dining experience from beginning to end. It goes without saying that the service was impeccable throughout the meal, from the knowledgeable waitstaff to the precisely placed cutlery. The meal has a nice progression that builds and ends on a playful note. There are about 10 courses split evenly between small bites, heavier mains, and desserts. As a big desserts person, I loved that they put as much emphasis on the sweet dishes as the savory. Each dish displays creativity and technique, but overall a fairly classic New American meal. The menu changes weekly, or even daily. You can taste that only the finest ingredients are used. We came away from the meal extremely full, as well. We couldn't even finish the numerous desserts in the last course, so they packed it up neatly for us to take home with a menu printout and some chocolate granola. Manresa is a great option for an extravagant white table cloth meal. You can make reservations on Tock up to 90 days in advance. The prime dinner times are often booked up quickly, but if you sign up for the waitlist you'll be alerted of cancellations. I was able to snag a Friday night reservation that way. For those who are in the area with no reservation, there is also a small bar area where you can walk in for drinks and even a separate bar bites menu! I've been told they make good cocktails.

My sister and I run away every once in a while.
... We will travel for food. Well this was a wonderful runaway!!! The tasting menu here is fantastic. The plating ,timing, ambiance and courses were spot on! Service was friendly and efficient. This is on my top 10 list for sure.
I've been to Manresa many times and other 3 star joints all over. The meal I just had at Manresa was such high art and craft. Stunning food and pairings. If you are looking for transcendence, do not hesitate or delay. It doesn't get better.

Ugh. The creativity here is unreal. The standout dishes for my second time around were the hors d'œuvres. Caviar and kombu consommé was INCREDIBLE and had no business being that amazing before any of the main courses. And then the kinmedai + sea lettuce(!!!!) consommé. This time, the Garden was a lot less intense but still delicious. A nice rampdown from the heavy hitters at the top of the order. The rest is a blur of perfect savory and sweet dishes accompanied by the excellent work that the front of house provided. A notable thanks to Valerie for keeping us extra company during service. Finally, we really appreciated the consideration and awesomeness that Manresa was able to provide for a pescatarian experience. The substitutions were equally amazing in their own right!

Tucked away off the main street in Los Gatos, it is a quiet but great place to have dinner. The meal lasts a while so you should come in with an appetite and time to enjoy the creative ways the food is prepared and presented. We chose the wine pairing and it was fun trying the food with specific wine or in one case a cider from a local brewery located in Soquel. Foodies would love having a meal here. It would also be a great place to have a romantic celebration or just a romantic meal.

I dined at this restaurant a month ago for a special occasion. The tasting menu was average for a 3 star Michelin restaurant. Location is great , parking was easy . The restaurant ambiance was good, mostly friendly staff and beautiful presentation of the food. Most notable dishes were the salad garden, wagyu beef as well as the desserts. The level of service was not what you would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant. Some staff were friendly and explained things clearly where as some others made no personal connection. We wanted to do the wine pairing and asked if we could change a couple of the white wines to red and they said they would send the sommelier over to discuss it and somehow none of that happened. However , the drink pairings were good. We were too full for the last dessert course and they were nice enough to pack it up for us.

Dining at Manresa is certainly an experience and one that
Dining at Manresa is certainly an experience and one that highlights the seasonality of ingredients. My family and I had the opportunity to enjoy the Early Spring Garden menu. Given that Manresa has a set menu, I was not terribly confident that they would be able to accommodate the LONG list of allergies and preferences amongst various members of my party. Luckily, they were able to accommodate the dietary needs of our dining part. However, given the prestige of the restaurant, I was surprised by some of the accommodations... or omissions, rather. For example, one member of our party is gluten free, and there was no bread option for her. There are plenty of gluten free individuals out there, so the lacking options in this area were unexpected. The service was pleasant: attentive but not too aggressive. The management was careful to check about allergies, as well, which I appreciated. The food was all enjoyable, but the portions were incredibly small. I left the table feeling quite hungry still. I would have opted to fill up on bread; however, the bread was one of the more disappointing parts of the meal. Perhaps Tartine sourdough has spoiled me, but the Manresa bread had a store bought quality. A buttery roll would have been more welcome than the dry, flavor-lacking whole wheat and sourdough slices they offered. The quality was undoubtedly very high, and I could only imagine the amount of effort and technique that went into each element of every dish--from the way the vegetables were cut in the vegetable garden salad to the way the delicate slices of horse mackerel were laid atop a bed of spinach. One of my favorite items/courses was the granola crisp with goat cheese. The textures and flavors danced across my palette, making me eager for the rest of the meal. The petit fours--both savory, to start, and sweet, to end--were delicious bites as well. I also greatly enjoyed the preparation of the beets with the Kinki fish; I didn't know beets could have that texture! It is always exciting to have familiar ingredients prepared in unexpected ways. On many occasions, we commented about how we usually don't like an ingredient but enjoyed the way it was prepared by the chefs at Manresa. My favorite "main" course was the Amadai with asparagus, onion, and shiso. The flavors were harmonious and left me wanting a larger portion! I didn't care for the pink lemon panna cotta; however, the chocolate, malt, and coffee dessert made up for it. The flavors were rather complex for a dessert, and the variety of textures made it fun to eat. They were also kind enough to add in an olive oil cake with gold leaf since it was a birthday celebration. While Manresa is certainly a pleasurable and interesting dining experience that I would recommend to any gourmand, I do think that my experience fell just short of the expectations I had.

Dining at Manresa was an absolutely incredible experience
Dining at Manresa was an absolutely incredible experience that left me with delightful memories and brought up pleasant nostalgia. I enjoyed the Spring Tasting Menu as my first return in 10 years, for it had been far too long. I grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains, and Chef Kinch's Art reminds me of the flavors I experienced as I explored the forests and backyard gardens of my youth. The Sorrel cocktail basically made me weep with joy, and I swear I could taste the freshwater in the Duck, an aroma and flavor I haven't experienced in almost 20 years. The staff is also on the very highest pinnacle of excellence and no review would be just without mention of their performance. I remember the perfectly choreographed dance of their service from my first visit as well as the food, and it has remained at that same tier since. A special Thank You to their Sommelier for almost stealing the show last night with his impeccable recommendations for our group. A visit to Manresa is simply mandatory for any Bay Area native, and any serious gourmand.
