Amazing sushi experience in Vancouver
Admittedly my only omakase experience, but this was fantastic. Each piece was amazing and the service was just as good.

We sat at the bar, had the omakase with sake pairing and extra sturgeon caviar. We loved the place, vibe and experience. Great place to come enjoy the food with great company.
Be the first to ReplyThe most unique Japanese meal outside Japan
Probably the best Japanese meal I have ever tasted outside Japan. In an inconspicuous area, the restaurant opens up to a unique experience on all counts. We were lucky to get seats at the bar and were treated to sublime dishes with innovative combinations of familiar and, to us, unknown ingredients such as black-throat seaperch and pomfret fish - all presented with masterly precision and beauty.

When the whole coronapocaplyse shut down dine-in eating at restaurants, it was a bit of an inconvenience at firstโฆ then I started to realize just how often I ate at restaurants โ turns out weโre saving a lot of money by me not eating out. After a couple of weeks, I started to get cravings for Japanese food and it so happened that I saw that Masayoshi was going to offer special take-out meals. Iโve had Masayoshi on my radar for a long time but never found the time to visit in person before so I figured this was serendipitous. Based on the prices they were advertising, I knew this would be hugely popular so I made sure to pre-order as soon as they opened. Sure enough, things started selling out really quick so Iโm glad that I put in my order earlyโฆ Edomae Chirashi ($25), Pork Belly โKakuniโ ($18), Niku Jyaga Japanese Beef Stew ($8), and Tonjiru Japanese Pork Stew ($8) The stews/soups are considered part of their โstaff mealsโ and were actually quite hearty and filling and at a really good price point. I really liked the pork belly kakuni as it was super tender. It goes well with rice so we used some of the sushi rice that was in the chirashi. The Edomae Chirashi was the obvious highlight of this meal and I heard later on that it sold out super fast. I honestly canโt name all of the various chopped up ingredients that went in this dish but it was so fresh and you could taste the care that went into preparing it. Their take-out menu is always changing so make sure you check them out if youโre looking for some great Japanese food.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the most authentic sushi restaurants in Vancouver, BC
Visited Masayoshi for dinner in February 2019. We sat at sushi bar counter and went for 16 piece omakase. Everything was fresh, tasty, and well prepared. If you are not that hungry, 14 piece omakase option is also available - this does not come with appetizers. Overall it's one of the best, and most authentic sushi restaurants in Vancouver, BC now.

We ordered the 14 pieces omakase sushi dinner. Overall each piece was fresh and good. Our only issue was the head sushi chef have to do everything serving us at the counter, and also making dishes for all the customers in dining room that ordered tasting menu. This means long pause after a few sushi.

Visited Masayoshi for dinner in October 2018. In my opinion, currently this is the most authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in Vancouver. I chose Omakase (chef's choice), smaller selection, and it was plenty. You need to be really hungry to go for larger selection. Price was not cheap, but considering the quality you get, I'd say it's reasonable. Service was great. Atmosphere was casual. Jeans/sweater would be fine.

It's our first time visiting this restaurant on our wedding anniversary. Read a lot of reviews about this place. We ordered the 14-piece omakase for $80pp. Most of the sushi were fish, nothing really special, not even uni. We felt the size of the sushi a bit too small, and the rice didn't stick together well, about to fall apart. The guy sitting next to us was having the same $80 omakase, but he was served some special sushi, such as uni. which was kind of odd since we paid the same price for the same order. The ambience was nice, but for this price, i can probably find other choices. Probably won't be coming back.

We had the full tasting menu and enjoyed about 10 courses, which we paired with a bottle of sake. Everything was tasty & lovingly created, and service was great. On the pricey side especially for this part of the city, but worth it as a treat.

Walked into this small restaurant on a Saturday night and it smelled fishy. Reminded me of the first and last time I went to Tojo in the old location. We ordered the sushi special made the the chef and it was extremely dis-appointing. The rice of the sushi was hard and felt apart from the fish when I picked it up. This was score 0 out of 10 if it was a competition. The proportion of fish and rice and the size of the fish piece was out of perfect proportion. The fish was too thin and small and too much rice. The fish themselves did not taste as fresh as it should be ie they were a bit fishy and the wasabi that was supposed to be in the sushi was negligible . The size of the sushi was smaller than the one they had on you tube. Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for big pieces of fish offered at the other places. At this price and this hype, I am looking for a perfect piece of sushi and not the one that falls apart. Chef please take note, you need to practice your grip even though you are too busy. NO REPEATS.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal, great service, nice ambience
Had the extended sushi omakase (16 pieces + appetizer, miso & dessert) tonight and it was really fantastic. The three types of tuna nigiri were especially great, tasty, fatty, delicious. I also really enjoyed the unagi nigiri and and for the first time in my life, the tamago.... it was very delicate, a little custardy and quite sweet. The nigiri pieces were all well balanced among the rice, fish, wasabi, and whatever topping was used. None of the flavours overpowered the others. I'm not a fan of mackerel or uni so my boyfriend ate my pieces. He said they were all very good. The service was very good - everyone was very attentive and very sweet. It was a pleasure being there. We sat at the counter and it was very enjoyable to get lost in watching the chef work. The jazz playing in the background and the gentle hum from the other tables made the ambience really relaxing. We will definitely go again.
