Masseria has been on my list for a long time and I'm sad to report that it was not worth the wait. Bottom line- disappointing food quality for the price and the service was slow. Save your funds for other tasting menus in the city. We decided to make a pre-paid reservation for the 6 course tasting menu for my husband's birthday on a Saturday night. We arrived a little early but they told us our table was ready and therefore we were sat. The ambience was very nice. However we ultimately spent a lot of time waiting between courses. Despite sitting down at 8:05, we didn't get any actual food until like 8:50. The bread course was first, completely forgettable and dare I say stale. The small plates were decent, but none stood out in particular. The plating was lovely though. The pasta courses were probably the highlight of the meal but again, nothing that I would come back for. The main entree was off-putting- it was goat 5 ways. Goat is hard enough to get right in a single iteration, 5 feels very ambitious. Lastly the desert was just okay. I agree with other commenters about the pushy add-on menu. I know a lot of tasting and set course menus offer additions but this was an aggressive level of upsell for what was already a very expensive meal. Plus everything just took so long to come out, they did acknowledge that the kitchen was running behind and provided us champagne to compensate- that was a nice touch.
