I have been here multiple times and we have always loved it...except this time. The people as usual were great, but the food we have come to look forward to...not so much. Ordered the seafood tower, LOL, more like a plate and not a very good one. It used to be a loaded 2 or 3 tiered tree of awesomeness...it is now a plate of "ah not so much" we ordered everything we could to put on this thing except for the crab legs (get to that later), there was more ice being covered on this "plate" by random wilted seaweed and oversized capers. The lobster seemed to be cooked, frozen, reheated, chilled for a week and shriveled up like an old ladies hand. We tried to tough through it and eat what we could like seagulls, but we ultimately complained about it, were told it would be removed from the bill (it wasn't). The random 3 shrimp were obviously old also, oysters (which we were told were the flavorful plump ones) were bland and seemed to be on some OC diet plan. The crab cocktail was the highlight-ish, but that obviously wasn't fresh either. Just a sad plate..Not a Tower (unless there was an earthquake and it fell). There were four of us we each ordered our own main and split 3 sides. Crab legs, used to be large or colossal, now skinny legs like a model with an eating disorder. Roasted Chicken, yes I know why chicken here, sometimes kids want what they want, this was dry and not very flavorful (good news, they kept refilling our water). Filet Mignon, was cooked well (as in good), but was like they put a slight sear on it and finished it in the microwave without salt and pepper at least. Rack of lamb, appeared that they forgot the sear and dropped it into a 30 minute sous video and left it half seasoned. Our sides, macaroni and cheese (bland), sautéed asparagus more like sautéed garlic and some boiled asparagus, and the French fries...were awesome and tasted the best of the whole night. Now, it's not all complaints, the bread basket was very good, especially the hot pretzel bread! We spent over $750 on disappointment. The funny thing is that we were all trying to be polite and not complain, but once we got in the car we all opened up...we were trying not to ruin the purpose for us being there a birthday dinner. Not sure if Mastro's is another victim of today's environment, but we definitely feel we were victims of bait and switch...so sad
