Misi Brooklyn - Buy Reservations

In isolation, Misi would be a truly great restaurant - but given the sky high expectations following the success of Lilia, I have to give 4 stars (with 5 stars as the the benchmark from Lilia).I have been multiple times (first time was day 2 of opening, when Missy Robbins was still tasting things coming out of the kitchen), and most recently last month. I have tried a variety of pastas on the menu - they are all very good, but not truly outstanding compared to the pastas I have had at Lilia. Their appetizers are stellar though. The whipped ricotta crostini is wildly popular for good reason - I have had it accompanied with roasted peppers or mushrooms (depending on what's on the menu), but much prefer the peppers.The space itself is beautifully designed, sleek minimalist/modern with an open kitchen. When you make reservations on Resy, you can pick which seats you want. The service is professional and courteous, all the way from the hostess to servers to bartenders. You can tell they are pros, as the place runs like a well oiled machine.Misi is a victim (perhaps unfairly) of Lilia's success, as the comparisons will always be made despite being different restaurants. Is this restaurant good? Definitely. But I admit that when friends ask me for recommendations of the best pasta in the city, Misi is not yet in my top three - but that doesn't mean I won't be coming back in the future to see if my opinions change.

Went here for brunch (same menu as dinner I believe) and was sadly underwhelmed by the food. Admittedly, perhaps I came in with too high of expectations considering that Misi is one of the "it" spots in Williamsburg and it's been on my list for so long. I went with a friend and we shared:Whipped ricotta crostini with roasted peppers - by far my favorite, lives up to the hype. Creamy, salted ricotta with chewy bread, YUM! The roasted peppers were excellent alone and with the crostini, but I think the vegetable that comes with the crostini changes seasonally.Grilled baby artichokes - pretty good! Wish there were some element of crunch to add texture though.Sheep's milk ricotta filled occhi - another Instagram famous dish which I liked, though I'd still say it looks better than it tastes. Good al dente texture but flavor was one note - almost didn't finish this one because the filling was so creamy and not much elseGnocchi sardi - I personally like my gnocchi softer and chewier, and this was really...hard? Definitely my least favorite dish

Some of the best pasta I've ever had! Lucky to get a day-of reservation for 2. Skipped appetizers and got 3 pastas to share between 2 people:Sheep's milk ricotta filled occhi, bottarga, lemonSuper rich and delicious. Pasta itself was perfectly al dente while the filling melts in your mouth! Our server indicated it's something Misi is known for, so I definitely recommend. Chickpea pappardelle, chickpeas, rosemary, garlic, lemon Pappardelle noodles were wonderfully wide and also al dente. Sauce was well balanced and flavorful. Nice balance to cut through the richness of the other 2 pastas. Spinach and mascarpone filled tortelli, brown butter, ricotta salataThis might be the single best pasta dish I've ever had! The brown butter sauce had an insanely deep flavor unlike anything I've had before. 10000/10 would recommend! Finished off with pistachio gelato, which was super flavorful; definitely worth getting if you still have room.

One of my fave pasta places I explored recently- and reserving it was hard as you had to reserve it 3 weeks in advance!I ordered the most popular pasta dish, the spinach & marscapone filled tortellini and they were not lying that it was one of the best in New York. Every bite made my mouth dance and I was so satisfied. The other two was the spaghetti with clams and the Sheep's milk ricotta filled occhi. The clams were so fresh and flavorful in the spaghetti and I thought the breadcrumbs added an interesting experience while eating that. This one is definitely more tomato forward. The sheeps milk ricotta filled occhi tasted amazing with the creamy ricotta inside. I think the occhi was a little thick and chewy as well which I really enjoyed. I definitely preferred the cheese forward dishes more than the spaghetti but I was still super happy with everything I ordered. I'm so excited to order their most popular dish next time which is the artichoke appetizer. I think I didn't order it this time but because everything was so unique and catered to mouth feel and taste I wouldn't mind ordering something I usually would never order here.To top off the night, the best thing I had was actually the olive oil gelato!! The waiter I had told me that it was what everyone ordered and he was so right. I never experienced gelato like this one and I will always order the olive oil gelato from now on! This usually wouldn't be my flavor of choice but this blew me out of my mind and I will be back to try everything else on the menu. You can't go wrong with anything here.

5 not even being dramatic. I was stoked to finally get a res at Misi after all the hype, and was genuinely disappointed. The tortelli was SO salty, almost inedible. I understand when some dishes are saltier than others, but it was so salty I could barely eat it. The rigatoni was decent but nothing to write home about, and the ricotta toast was subpar. My favorite thing was probably my cocktail (?) Save your money and go to Lilia or Via, two places that are actually worth the hype.

The ambience is top notch, very chic. The service was good. I got the gnocchi dish. It was very good the portions weren't that big but it did the job. They don't automatically serve bread you have to ask for it which I didn't like. For that price point they should serve bread. The gelato was delicious but that was the only thing on the dessert menu. The server was a nice guy. They have a great drink menu. This was my third time to Misi in six months, and it never fails to disappoint. We had a great seat at the bar in front of the kitchen to observe the pasta cooking process. The rigatoni seemed very basic by the menu description, but after seeing it tossed in the sauce, we had to try it. Best decision of the night. Make sure to save room for the gelato at the end. It's sneakily one of the best in the city.

They have a unique twist on Italian cuisine, and every dish was memorable from the sheeps milk ricotta (creamy and lovely) to the spinach & marscapone to the hazelnut gelato to top it off. The gelato had hazelnut morsels with every spoonful, which was a delight! I would love to try their pistachio gelato as well next time. We also had their grilled baby artichokes for appetizer -- fantastic flavor profile!

I am convinced that Williamsburg has the best Italian food! This was another gem in Brooklyn. I totally understand now why the reservations for Misi are always hard to get! This place is an absolute delight from their minimalist decor to their food to their service. We were stuck in traffic and arrived to our reservation late and they still held the table for us!They have a limited selection of cocktails, but they had the classics - martini, aperol spritz, etc. To start we ordered the mushroom crostini and the artichokes. Both were so delicious!!! The crostini was something I was not expecting! The whipped ricotta is so fluffy and light. Visually the crostini looked like it would be super heavy because of the whipped ricotta, but it was the opposite. They bring the mushrooms on the side so make sure to put them on top of the crostini! The artichokes were also unique - crispy, slightly charred, with a mint salsa! Yes! Salsa at an Italian restaurant. It needs to become a thing because this was a burst of flavor.For my entree I got the spinach and marscapone tortelli. Wow, just wow! Melts in your mouth. The butter sauce was so simple but not at the same time. I have no words for this, but order it! To end we shared the olive oil gelato. I will admit initially it was a little odd tasting. As I took more bites, I started liking it more. All in all, this experience was wonderful and I truly understand the hype now.

I am impressed I had not reviewed yet but that was a reason to visit again and refresh my memory. Got my Resy alert activated and we were lucky enough to be seated at the kitchen counter (no bad seats in the house, I love eating by the bar). We started off with a bottle of sparkling wine recommended by their sommelier (she was very nice). For antipasti, we got 1) the world famous ricotta crostini, served with trumpet mushrooms - it's a cloud of ricotta on amazing thick slab of toasted bread; 2) baby artichokes with salsa verde - wish I could pour this over everything I eat. For pasta, selections were 1) spaghetti with clams - wow, I had not eaten spaghetti in ages, glad I did it here. It was on the saltier side but everything came together perfectly and paired nice with the wine; 2) fettuccine with buffalo butter and cheese/pepper, love this one, super comforting and perfect winter food. We had to save some room for gelato (it is SO GOOD), and this time tried the olive oil one - such an interesting flavor and gelato is overall perfect at Misi. Espresso martinis accompanied our dessert, must highlight they are great at drinks too. Shout out to our server, Jasmine, who made the experience a lot more fun and helped us choose everything by sharing her personal favorites.

Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the grilled artichokes and the tortellini (the buttery sauce on it is unreal). And you definitely can't go without getting their populist ricotta crostini. Don't skip gelato for dessert!

I was super excited to try this especially with the reservation being difficult to get. First off I give it 5 stars for the drinks + service, both were perfect. Unfortunately, the food was subpar at best. The whipped ricotta was just ok. It literally just tastes like milk bread. I don't know if the trumpet mushrooms were the best pairing. We also got the artichoke which was equally tart and tasted like the same sauce as the trumpet mushrooms.. not a lot of complex flavors going on. We got 2 pasta dishes, both again, flavors were very one note. The Spinach and Mascarpone Filled Tortelli was probably the better of the 2 it had really subtle flavors.. again very mild cheese flavor / sauce. The texture was really good though. Now the linguine was just bad. The only flavor profile? Salt. A lot of salt. Couldn't finish since it was getting saltier towards the bottom lol. In the end we asked for chili flakes after seeing some people next to us order chili flakes as well. Overall, not looking to go back.

My overall experience at this restaurant is mediocre to say the least. As I walked into the restaurant it had a beautiful and modern look to it with an exposed kitchen. Upon arriving at the restaurant I was seated by the bar/kitchen entrance which was not aesthetically pleasing. I was not expecting this when I made the reservation at this restaurant so I asked one of the servers if I could be seated in the main dining room area. They told me it was full, however I was able to see that it was clearly empty and there was plenty of available space. Upon asking again I was finally moved into the main dining room in the middle of my first course meal. I started off by ordering the grilled artichokes which we're quite difficult to eat due to their stiffness. For my main corse meal I ordered the sheeps milk ricotta filled occhi pasta and the fettuccine with butter and Parmesan. Both dishes lacked in flavor and taste. After being disappointed with my first two main course dishes I decided to try something completely different on the menu, I ordered the mezze 30 clove Pomodoro pasta, which to my surprise tasted delicious and I would definitely order it again. Of course I had to order dessert and I went with the pistachio gelato and the olive oil gelato. Both of these desserts were absolutely delicious however I don't think I would be returning anytime soon.

The whipped ricotta was delicious and paired beautifully with the trumpet mushrooms it comes with so i would say it's worth the hype. The broccoli unfortunately was too tart for our liking. The gnocchi dish was good but not memborable in the long run. We enjoyed the braised lamp pasta though - the pepperoncini stole the show. I do wish there was an extensive dessert menu, would be to their benefit

Phenomenal experience!When making my last minute reservation, I was annoyed about sitting at the kitchen counter because I'd prefer a table. However, upon arriving and beginning my dining experience, I realized we had the best seats in the place! We got to watch the chefs prepare all of the meals and ask questions which was so cool. We went with the charred broccoli appetizer which was so good. We regret not trying the ricotta crostini but it's on my list for next time. I went with my Chitara (braised lamb pasta) for my entree and my home girl got the bucatini. We both loved our meals and can't wait to dine again!

I have dined here several times and it's always good. Everything (especially the pasta) is cooked perfectly and tastes fresh. I actually prefer this place over Lilia. The service is always consistent as well. This place is incredibly popular and difficult to get a reservation. If you have a small party, I'd recommend calling and seeing if they have any bar seating available. I've done this a few times and it's worked great! My one qualm and it's very minor is I wish they had a better dessert selection. They only have gelato and I'm not an ice cream fan, especially in the winter. I always leave my meal craving tiramisu or an olive oil cake. I ordered:-Roasted Trumpet Mushrooms Crostini: omg this is amazing. You have to order this. The ricotta are literal pillows of heaven. This is seasonal so the toppings change. -Marinated Leaks: yum I loved this. -Mezze Rigatoni: so fresh and delicious. Tastes like the famous spaghetti dish from Scarpetta. -Spinach & Mascarpone Tortelli: so buttery and good. It's really rich so I'd recommend sharing this - I think it would be a lot for just one person as their main. -Spaghetti Little Neck Clams: this was cooked perfectly and comes with tons of clams, but it was my least favorite dish. Compared to the other two, there just wasn't a lot of flavor. I've also tried the sheep's milk ricotta and bucatini - both very good!
