What can I say about DonAngie that hasn't already been said??? Get the Lasagna??? LOLI'll try a different angle.....We were greeted warmly on a cold Tuesday night by the host asking if were ok with sitting at the bar - walking in and getting seated at one of the toughest spots to snag a reservation - Yes we are more than ok with that!! The host came back and chatted with us several times, the bartenders were outstanding and friendly, a waiter warmly jumped into our conversation when he heard my daughter is attending his Alma Mata. It felt like we were dinning in a local neighborhood restaurant where we were "part of the family"!!!Oh yeah - the food is amazing too!!!!

Finally after trying for almost 3-4 months we managed to get a reservation here. Because we were so happy to just get the reservation after trying do hard i think the hype just kept building and triumphed our actual experience at the restaurant. LolFood - try the flat bread, salad their special and best seller, overall everything was good and flavorfulService- no complains they were packed as expected but they served well.Ambiance - lively Black Cocoa TiramisuChrysanthemum SaladSourdough Pasta CacciatoreStuffed Garlic Flatbread
I had the best meal. It’s absolutely worth the hype. Everything is fresh and flavorful. 10/10 rec to put toward the top of your list!

Love their cocktail menu, pastas are excellent, service was good. Live music was a plus! Nice small brunch spot.
😍
Looooooove Don Angie's.
I had a table of six, and we ordered several of the dishes. It's a couple weeks later, and i'm still thinking about the lasagna and the salad. The reservation is hard to get, but even if you can go at 9pm it's worth it! The service wasn't as astounding as I would expect for this level of restaurant. We didn't see much of our server, but the food was so delicious it didn't matter. I hope I can go again, but it's so hard to get a reservation. Go if you get the opportunity and order the lasagna!
😍
Honestly best meal of my life.
Perfect date night or special occasion vibes. The hostess and our waitress were so kind and helpful. Truly after biting into the lasagna, I had to stop for a moment because it was just that good. Also, the steak with lemon blew me away!! Who knew those two things go together so well?! It was a great quality piece of meat with so much flavor and tenderness. I would come back any day. My only regret is not buying the cookbook there.
They know that the correct amount of parmesan for a salad is to have a heaping pile of it and I absolutely love it
😍

My favorite spot in the city!! I've loved everything from here but their sourdough pasta is my fave. I could order two of these and leave happy. Their lasagna is a close second for me. Service is great, the girl that hosts on the weekends (I think her name is Alyssa?) is even better! She was really sweet to provide me with comedy club recommendations last time I was there. Need to make reservations of arrive thirty minutes before opening to nab a table but it's so worth it!

If you like italian food, please make the effort to snag a reservation and come here. It's worth the effort to stalk resy. I have absolutely no criticism. I've been here a few times so I know you can't go wrong with the well known chrysanthemum salad, garlic flatbread, sweet potoes, and lasagna for two. All amazing! If you want to try something lighter than the lasagna, the striped filled pasta is also fantastic and unique. I've never had that flavor combination in a pasta dish. I also dream about that salad - cheesy, creamy, fresh. Don't forget to try their great cocktails and non-traditional chocolate tiramisu. I loved the crunchy bits in the tiramisu for the texture.
Long story short I discovered there were 5-10 Italian restaurants in the city that had very difficult reservations to get. As silly as this sounds, this exclusivity factor is what made me embark on a quest to try as many of these restaurants as possible.Comparing with restaurants like via carota, misi, L'artusi, and I sodi, this was by far the most average of the bunch. The restaurant is a simple room with a bar, and a handful of tables. Service was extremely fast. We started with the flatbread, fried rice, and the salad. I will say the salad was good, and the fried rice was a fun twist, but everything was extremely salty and the flavors one dimensional. Following this we went with the lasagna, of course, and the sourdough pasta, which we got by accident? Accompanying this we got the sweet potatoes. The lasagna is beautiful, and it is good, however I would say it's something you could definitely try just once solely to say you had it. It is just lasagna after all, and it certainly was not anything mind blowing. The sourdough pasta I'd skip. Potatoes were tasty though. The ambience is heavily lacking, as you feel you could be in any restaurant, both in terms of service and environment. That was honestly my biggest gripe with the restaurant amongst the other issues. Is it worth a try once, sure, but please don't jump through any hoops to go to this place.
😍
3 of us shared the chrysanthemum salad.
It was delicious and fine as first course. We also ordered the lasagna. Best I ever had and enough for 4-6 as a pasta course. I had the branzino as a main. It was perfectly prepared. The service was excellent and the people working there like Mikey and Max were great. I believe our waitress was Adelaide and she was terrific. Difficult to get a reservation but do everything to get one.

Lasagna to dieeeeee for 10/10 recommend - the service was excellent also. Felt very welcome and cozy all around amazing experience with my friends
The service was top-notch and the food was delicious, can't wait to go again!
What a great experience here. Service is better than most posh restaurants and food is amazing. This place is a perfect example of when you mix trendy food establishments with high quality food. I'm not a fan of either of those dishes but this place definitely made me one. Cant wait to go back again
Run don’t walk! This restaurant is amazing!!
Don Angie was absolutely phenomenal. Getting a reservation was an impossible task for me (I’m on the west coast so was up at 6am three mornings in a row trying to secure one and never did), but my husband and I showed up just before 5pm and were able to get a spot at the bar where we got excellent service and enjoyed the communal atmosphere. The drinks were unique and inventive. My husband got some version of a hot toddy which was great and not too sweet. I got the Two Yoots which was able to walk the line of being very unique without crossing into too much. I would recommend them both. The food was the best we had on our trip, even beating out our experience at a 3 Michelin starred restaurant. The spicy cantaloupe and coppa was absolute perfection, and the lasagna was fantastic. I don’t know what some other reviewers are saying about it not anything special. The sauce as light but flavorful and the noodles are something I will dream about. We even took left overs to a friend who texted me later that it’s the best thing she’s ever had, despite her being prejudiced about nicer restaurants not being worth the hype. It was fairly casual with everyone looking trendy but not fancy. Best meal of our 7 day trip
Everything was incredible

I can’t wait to go back!
This is my new favorite spot in NYC! My family shared many different dishes at the suggestion of our server and each one was outstanding. I will crave the potatoes forever. The food is creative without being fussy. Just downright delicious. And the service was impeccable. Get the chrysanthemum salad! A truly memorable evening.
Was greeted and seated promptly. Our server was a doll and very informative. Scott and Angie are not only great chefs, they are beautiful people too and know how to make their patrons feel at home and special. We ordered practically everything on the menu and I’m not kidding. Dish after dish was fantastic. The stuffed flatbread was to die for. The Chrysanthemum Salad was heavenly, best salad I ever had by far. We also had the prosciutto with papaya, sorpresine with mussels, gnocchi and the garganelli which was my favorite along with their famous lasagna pinwheels which were all they are hyped up to be. The grilled pork was so tender and the chicken scarpariella was outstanding, the best I ever had. All the sides were fantastic but the Japanese Sweet Potatoes was such an unexpected treat. Tiramisu and homemade cookies were delectable. I’m sure I forgot a few things but it’s enough to say the drinks, food and staff were top notch in every way. A most enjoyable dining experience and I look forward to going back again and again.
the food was all a bit average to be honest
Best food I've had in a while
They're famous for their lasagna for a reason! It was absolutely to die for and the leftovers the next day were even better!

Creative menu and cocktails
Reservations are very difficult but my daughter was able to obtain a reservation for 2 for Sunday at 4:00. We have travelled to many parts of Italy and Italian cuisine is our favorite so of course we were looking forward to dining at a highly acclaimed Italian restaurant. Amelia was an exceptional server answering our menu questions and providing attentive service. We started off with the Rosemary Clooney cocktail and a margherita. Both were unique tasting and enjoyed them. The Chrysanthemum Salad was delicious and would recommend. We read great reviews about the lasagna but was disappointed in the taste. Most of the taste of the lasagna was the overpowering creamy white filling and then bits of meat. There was little red sauce. We only ate one apiece and just left the rest. It was quite expensive at $64. I have eaten better lasagna at so many other places. I would not recommend the cauliflower side dish. The sorbet was a refreshing dessert but definitely not the burnt pieces of pear on the top. Overall, the service was superb but disappointed in the food.
Such a great place to eat
The lasagna is amazing
pasta very good meat top Italian aubergines eaten so only in Sicily. nice and delightful environment. nice staff. one of my favorite michelins from new york
Highly recommend stopping by. All my friends love Don Angie New York
🤮
Bad service and rude staff
Very unpleasant experience. Treated my partner and I very poorly. I recommend that you look elsewhere if you’re looking to have a pleasant experience in the west village.
Always great food and service. Love eating here, never disappoints.
😒
not sure what the hype is about
a close friend booked us here for dinner - a michelin starred italian restaurant in NYC. Service was phenomenal; food just ok. I've had much better gnocchi and the lasagne had an unusual presentation, but nothing to brag about. prices were reasonable though.

I have to start off by saying I had really high hopes for
I have to start off by saying I had really high hopes for this place and genuinely thought I would love it and become obsessed. Reservations are tougher to get than at Carbone. We went on a Wednesday night for a 10 pm dinner and were seated right away. I didn't catch our servers name but she was super friendly and attentive, service was definitely quick, we were out in about an hour and 15 which i was thankful for since my husband had work the next day. Now, on to the food. We were set on trying the lasagna and since we knew it was a big portion, we skipped apps and only got the sorpressine and mussels pasta to start with. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the cilantro it was topped with added a really nice zest. It had a good mussel presence and the dish was tasty but it did not blow my mind. On to the lasagna, again it was good, but nothing extraordinary. It definitely was a little on the salty side and the pasta itself was so thin I could only taste the cheese and the meat. It was perfectly fine but a letdown from all the hype. Lastly we ended with the tiramisu, truthfully I love tiramisu and was so so excited to try this. I wanted to love it but it was such a letdown as well. It didn't taste like caramel and it didn't taste like cocoa. The crunchies in it were good but other than that it just tasted like salty whipped cheese. Overall our experience was good and the ambiance was pleasant but the food was only okay.
.. SERVICE matters. We were the first table to arrive for a 430pm reservation - we ordered first and received our first pasta [very salty] Then waited 30+mins for our main entree and watched 3-4 tables have their lasagna [also very salty] served to them prior to ours and they all ordered WAY LATER than we did. It took over 30+ mins for ours to arrive - At this point we were OVER IT.This was our only main for 2 and sitting awkwardly waiting so long for it to arrive without our waiter noticing until we had to say something is VERY STRANGE for a place like this. With limited tables and plenty staff this is not a good look. Our waiter was friendly but initially made a comment saying "the kitchen requires your full order up front" making it seem like we couldn't add anything additional to our order should we wanted to - which was strange, as well as having us sit and wait 30+ mins for our main course. Dessert was whatever since we already weren't into the mood. Not into this type of service.

TLDR: I wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars!! Don
TLDR: I wish I could give this restaurant 6 stars!! Don Angie was definitely the restaurant I had the hardest time getting a reservation at. They open on resy at 9am and by 9:00:10 they were gone!!If you're able to get a spot, make sure to order a spread. Their dishes dont miss! Absolutely start off with the stuffed garlic bread, its decadent, crunchy and cheesy in every bite. Pair this with the Chrysanthemum salad for a little reprieve and acidity.Ordering the lasagna is a must. It was beautifully presented and is definitely the best lasagna I've ever had. Each pinwheel is constructed carefully and stitched together with layers of thin pasta and several cheeses.Dont forget about side dishes! The japanese sweet potatoes are delightfully garlicky and crunchy with a slight sweet aftertaste. The mushroom was good but not a showstopper like the potatoes. And you may not have room after all this but you'd be mistaken to not get the black cocoa tiramisu. Its surprising in the construction of layers- crunchy, soft, creamy and sweet in every bite.
😍
One of the easiest five stars to give as the food fully
One of the easiest five stars to give as the food fully lives up and this has rights to be the best Italian food in the city. The two cons (to get them out of the way) are the price point (~180$ for a two-person meal) and how hard it is to get a reservation. Found myself fighting at 9 am on Resy only to be left with a 10 pm reservation after multiple days of trying; that is crazy hard!!! But onto the food - wow the stars are in multitude. The garlic flatbread fully lives up as I've never seen such a thin crispiness to it. Do yourself a favor and order it. I'd steer a bit clear of the Chrysanthemum salad even though I saw many others order it; it was just fine for me. Probably good for a salad but I don't think the flavor added too much to the meal that I missed out on. The Japanese sweet potatoes were wildly crispy and had such the best sauce attached to them; how they got it so bready is beyond me. I'd also not order the Mushroom kebab side if I could do it again; they were cooked well, but the sweet(ish) sauce didn't do it for me and it was on the lower end of dishes for me. The lasagna is why people come here it seems and boy is it wild... how do they get the presentation so perfect?? It's really cool to see how cheese straight up keeps the entire dish together. The filling was fine for me (didn't steal the show, but also didn't detract); it was the actual pasta and cheese that were incredible. And to wrap it up, the tiramisu is from God - wow, that may be the best dessert I've ever had and I don't even usually like tiramisu.Lovely meal - would come back much more often if I could...

Amazing, delic cocktails.
And so tasty lasagna, The cheese inside their signature lasagna is top notch. We felt like welcomed to a family dinner where every little detail was well thought out, authentic, and salaciously delicious. Two of the cocktails I tried, Rosemary Clooney and the Italian Coffee Situation were excellent
🤮
Just an update- I was on the site again this morning at 9
Just an update- I was on the site again this morning at 9 am and there were two 10pm tables available right at 9 when reservations "open up". By the time I put my email I received a message stating the table was no longer available. This is unacceptable- when I called the restaurant about this the staff was extremely rude and dismissive. There are great Italian restaurants in NYC and the fact that this restaurant has yet to take down the site that is booking and selling their reservations is unacceptable.
😍

WOW! what an experience, truly! We had the Lasagna for Two, Stracchino Gnocchi, and Tiramisu. Absolutely amazing all of it. The lasagna gives you this out of body experience. Can't explain it but it's rich in all the right areas, definitely something you'll crave and one of those dishes that will weigh heavily on your mind . This was one of the reasons we visited the West Village and we're so glad we did. The staff here was awesome too. Our server was funny and kind and we enjoyed his conversation. We will definitely be back.
🙂
I would give this place a 4.
5 star if I could! The food is good, pretty good even but a few elements of the experience just take away from the full 5 star review. We had a birthday and they charged a per person cake cutting fee, and while most places charge a fee, for a big birthday group, it's just unfortunate not to pay a flat rate or have the restaurant comp it. This is a nice establishment, there should be some ways in which they make the experience pleasurable and elegant. The lasagna is delicious as expected, as is the mussel pasta and gnocchi. The cauliflower I could skip, as well as the sourdough pasta. Drinks also are a miss for me. Overall, this was a classic New York experience, but a one and done for me.
🤮
RACIST Host!!!! This business claims to have walk in bar
RACIST Host!!!! This business claims to have walk in bar seats. So we went at an off peak hour around 3PM. The host put us on the waitlist and told us to come back in an hour. So we waited an hour in this 90 degrees heat and came back like she said. She told us we did not come here early enough so she gave seats to someone who just walked in. Yeah the white couple of the same race as the host that were let inright before us did not wait on the waitlist at all. So I asked if I can be put back on the wait list. She told us the to come back at 9PM for the bar sitting. If you are a minority, you would understand the smirk and the judgmental stare that she gave us. Then I realize it's never about us being late for 10 minutes for the available table even though we came before her estimated available time. It's that she never wants to serve us. This place might have delicious food. But if they are not interested in serving us, we should stay away.
😒
FInally got a seat in this Michelin restaurant
Not worth the hassle of getting a reservation. No one answers the phone, its Resy only or walk up to get on the wait list. Loved the stuffed bread, lasagna, pasta with olives was out of this world. Pasta with mussels and a strange flavor and no one in our party of 3 liked the dish. People do not dress up to eat here. So wear your flip flops and t shirts. No one cares

Popular with Young'uns Who Don't Cook
Salads were great. Pastas tiny and tasteless - at least the one that looked like candy and the Gnocchi where honestly - we could not taste the cheese . It tasted like potato puffs. The mains - the pork and the veal - were terribly overcooked. And the sauces were also tasteless. Sorry to say - I make better Italian food than this. Even updated Italian food. Kind of pretentious.
Don't miss the special lasagna or tiramisu. Can't go wrong with anything else on menu. Pretty much tried them all!

Great food, great service, Don Angie is the full package:) we will be back. Get the Lobster!!!
Amazing food great service it lives up to the hype. The lasagna is my top choice.

My favorite restaurant in NYC.
Not sure where to begin it's all so perfect. Chrysanthemum salad, cheesy garlic bread, lasagna, steak Al Limone, the crispy pork Milanese with unique toppings, the potato side dish. It's just too good. Also the drinks are great and I don't even like drinking. Don't miss the dessert either. A true shining star but don't expect classic red gravy Italian - this is elevated and modernized so be prepared to go somewhere...NEW
It's a chill and fun atmosphere, the staff is friendly and knows their stuff, and the kitchen puts out amazing dishes. An Italian restaurant with chrysanthemum Caesar salad, fried rice, sweet potato, and mochi ice cream? Yum. Our drinks, apps, pasta, mains, and desserts were all delicious. There were 3 of us and we each ordered something different so we got to sample each other's dishes. At the end, I wanted to start the meal all over again.
