Appointment Trader a Scam?!
The "reservation" I purchased from Appointment Trader for Mother Wolf DID NOT WORK! We were basically left stranded at the restaurant with no reservation. Appointment Trader told me that evening when I was able to reach a human that they would refund the $90 that we paid for our reservation, but that never happened. Very hard to reach someone via customer service. VERY DISAPPOINTED with this service. Buyer beware!!!

Typical hack of a restaurant. People who come here think it's a place to be seen. Being born and raised in LA, some of the best spots are not the most expensive and overexposed. The food here is super greasy, the prawns were doused in oil, the pizza is WAY too salty, the cocktails are watery, and it's so LOUD you can't even hear the person directly across the table from you. The music BLASTS on top of everyone screaming. Everyone is packed in like sardines. This place felt like a Vegas buffet. Period. Overexposed. The people who think this place is great are for people who come to LA to be an influencer or something because you have to be really gullible to believe this place is prime cuisine.
🙂
One of my favorite new restaurant.
I was fortunate both times to grab bar sitting. However, both times, i've gone, the clam pasta was not available (will need to go back for it!)The pizza is one of my favorites and I do not like pizza that much. I tried the margherita and the funghi one. Chef's kiss. The cacio e pepe was to die for. Also the arrabbiata was super fresh with a kick of spice.Appetizer were also amazing: meatballs and the prawns. Like everyone here, dip the pizza crust in the prawn sauce.

Loved this place! Food was super delicious & everyone that works here is super nice & knowledgeable about the menu/wines!! Would def come back! Also their mixed drinks were very good as well!!!
😍
The best artichoke that I ever tried so far.
That is something that you need to go for, but one bad thing about it - it is fried. Bronzino was served on the big plate and surround with spinach, which was mixed with sweet yellow raisins and became a perfect complement to the salty dish. All the vegetables that came in the main course or as salad starter were well done - so bravo! As a person that doesn't it carbs, I found what to eat - so ladies, don't hesitate to go to that Italian restaurant. But I tried the pasta...and I loved the way it was made, I felt the hard heart of it. Twice cocktail was changed for me without any arguments because it was too sweet for me, so I ended up with a cognac. And I loved the audacity of the servant that changed my first glass after a question "What base?". He looked very much confident about what he is doing. Never less I would advise you to choose wine instead in that restaurant especially because they have a professional who specializes in matching wine with a meal. The interior is very classy and looks very nice and is comfy, I would change the tone of the sits cover but it is not about the food...

This is the italian restaurant for people who have never
This is the italian restaurant for people who have never been to Italy. There is an everlasting truth about Italian food, everyone who tries to make it too fancy fails, and Mother Wolf just confirmed it once more. First of all, it's immensely pretentious, which is the opposite of Italian cuisine. With a chef/owner that refuses any small change on the menu because he won't 'compromise the 'purity' of 'HIS' recipes.... Really? 'his' recipes? There is nothing 'his' in here. These are old standard italian recipes made for hundreds of years and oh so easy to adjust without losing their freshness or appeal. And I can say it because I'm italian, I have seen it. Cacio e Pepe or Amatriciana are some of the easiest, less fuss lunch pasta you can have in any Roman trattoria. And I guarantee that my Arrabbiata made at home is more interesting than this one, because I know how it tastes in Rome. The chef might have learned to cook italian but he knows nothing about the spirit or the richness of the flavors done simply and with the heart. This is a Disneyfied version of an uninteresting tourist menu. The fact that every waiter is instructed to say 4 words in italian is also absolutely ridicolous. They all repeat the same stuff barely knowing what they are saying. Borderline offensive. And not one italian in sight anywhere (not that I particularly care about having Italians, in NYC some of the best pasta is served at Basta Pasta on 17th St which is owned and operated by Japanese, but they don't pretend to speak italian).Besides the pompous vibe, there is also NOTHING gluten free on the menu and when asked, the waiters look down at you like you asked for an heresy, they clearly don't know that Italy is one of the countries with the highest count of celiacs and we make some of the best gluten free pasta, breads and desserts in the world. Given than Mother Wolf does not offer fresh-pasta, it's just regular dry/off-the-shelf, it wouldn't take much to have the same options in GF. Almost EVERY restaurant in Italy offers a GF version of both pasta, pizza and bread, without feeling offended. I guess Italians will compromise their recipes but Evan Funke is too precious for that. My husband, who ordered the Amatriciana, dared to ask for some extra sauce as it was dry, and they sent some plain tomato sauce. Really? They expected us to mix tomato sauce on top of the Amatriciana sauce?... and that is not an heresy for them! When asked again, the waiter told us the Amatriciana is made as 'custom order' and they could not bring more sauce.... well, there is no pasta sauce cooked 'custom'. I'm sure they have buckets of it in the kitchen, and it was 6Pm on a Friday, they had to have enough for the rest of the night, but no, they could not bring a bit extra. Pure BS. The meatballs were fried (assuming with bread / gluten in it), pretty heavy. The grilled branzino was good, probably the best thing, but not worth $70, although they gave us a discount given the sadness of the situation. Besides our own misadventures, everything on the menu is truly basic, non inventive in any way, perfect for anyone who thinks a mozzarella is a fancy meal; white-label Italian for mass-consumption at premium pricing. I don't even understand why it's this hard to get a table. So not worth it. There are dozens of restaurants in LA that do a better job and at better prices and without the judgmental look. $200 into a mediocre meal, we decided to skip dessert and instead we drove to Ecco Un Poco on 3rd St for ice cream, which, not only is truly italian, but the owner (from Milan) also 'dares' to offer delicious gluten free and vegan ice-creams in addition to the rich and innovative dairy ones. Their salted caramel and old fashioned chocolate was better than anything we had at Mother Wolf.

I've dined at Felix and most of the other major Italian
I've dined at Felix and most of the other major Italian restaurants in LA. Mother Wolf served up less hits and more misses, for me. SERVICE - HUGE MISS. My friends and I arrived 15 minutes before our dinner reservation so we went to the bar to grab a drink. My friend asked the bartender if there were any cocktails with rum that could be made. The bartender snootily responded that they specialize in more Italian style cocktails. Meanwhile I'm looking at the liquor selection and they have everything under the sun. Then after a long, awkward pause, he follows up saying that yes, he can make something with rum. The bartender serves the drink and then proceeds to passive aggressively shoo us away from the bar since we already had a dinner reservation. Ok, whatever. FOOD - Fiori di Zucca ($25) - The squash blossoms were good, nice and crisp with a good amount of ricotta romana DOP inside, though it could have been seasoned more. Carciofi Alla Giudia ($25) - Violetta artichokes with mint, lemon and salsa Di accoughe, they were a bit dry and overcooked to me, though my friends enjoyed themGambieri in salsa verde ($34) - Blue prawns in green garlic salsa verde. I liked the cook of the prawns with the heads attached. The salsa verde veered slightly salty but complemented the flavor of the prawns.Boscaiola pizza ($36) - wild mushroom and sausage pizza with mozzarella cheese, this pizza was INSANELY SALTY. Literally all three of us cringed at the amount of salt that overpowered the flavor of the mushrooms and sausage. I think the top layer of my tongue got melted off! It definitely tainted the the flavor of the pastas we tried afterwards, unfortunately. We told the waiter about how excessively salty this pizza was but he didn't seem to care. Oh well. AVOID. Tonnarelli cacio e pepe ($25) - this dish was cooked nicely al dente but could have used more cheese to impart more flavor. It was a bit bland. I've had better elsewhere.Rigatoncini Alla vaccinara ($32) - oxtail ragu with guanciale, this pasta was delicious and by far my favorite bite of the night. The Rigatoncini was cooked perfectly, with a nice bite and the oxtail was meltingly tender. I recommend this dish. Spaghetti all'arrabbiata ($24) - I loved the spice in this dish! Again, the pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente and the arrabbiata was a perfect combination of sweetness from the tomatoes, tang from the garlic, salt from the pecorino and spice from the chili peppers. Another must order. Pistachio gelato - I loved the generous amount of delicious, salted pistachios sprinkled all over three scoops of gelato. No artificial colors and flavors here, just quality small batch gelato. There was also a crisp, sugared pastry puff to accompany the gelato. Overall, the highlights were not enough to overcome the salt lick of a pizza we were served and the poor service didn't help. There are plenty of other upscale Italian restaurants in the area that I would rather dine at.
😍
I was super excited to try this great restaurant .
They have great service, tasty Italian food, amazing cocktails. My server was so kind. He recommended all the good stuff. My favorite dessert was pistachio gelato it was amazing. I can't wait to visit there again and taste the entire menu. All I can say that now I am a huge fan of this place.

That last taste I have in my mouth is velveeta cheese, dodger stadium nachos cheese (you know the kind I'm talking about). Do NOT GET THE CARBONARA. Although the bacon was good, the cheese was disgusting. Besides that, the salad and pizza came out fast. We had a long wait for the pasta. and our food was delicious. We had the arugula salad, diavola pizza, and the oxtail ragú which was cooked to perfection. The decor is beautiful! It's unfortunate that our last taste in our pallet had to be that nasty Velveeta processed cheese. We wish our waiter would have asked us about the carbonara and we would have told him our thoughts, but since he did not here I am yelping.
😍
Excellent excellent excellent.
Our favorite was the prawns (we scraped that sauce clean with the other dishes - the waitress recommended dipping pizza in it, except we didn't get pizza ). The olive oil cake with lemon gelato was also amazing. Zucchini flowers were unique but had a tad too much feta cheese in them - still highly recommend.Men's bathroom has Aesop hand lotion. Valet parking $15

I pre-paid a bottle of wine and dessert for my sister who was going to have dinner there for her birthday. I was promised a receipt once my credit card was processed, however, I didn't receive one and noticed that my card was overcharged. After multiple emails and phone calls, I still have not received my receipt and it's been over a month. This is a super unprofessional establishment, and as someone who has worked in the industry, I truly don't understand why it is so difficult to send a receipt, especially when you were told you would receive one.
😍
Mother Wolf is worth ALL that hype.
I read an article on Mother Wolf about 2-3 months ago & knew that this was where I needed to go to fuel my carb needs for the LA marathon. So the downside? You can only make a reservation on Resy 7 days in advance if you're lucky... Knowing my luck? Womp womp, it was hard to come by.So the night before my marathon, my husband & I decided to come a few minutes before opening. If you don't have a reservation, highly recommended because that line builds up fast!Once inside, we got seated at the bar. We were greeted warmly & then shown inside Mother Wolf. I was feeling the gorgeous art deco vibes. I felt as though we've time traveled to the good old days of the Great Gatsby. Now let's talk about the food. Alright, when the critics said the menu pays homage to Rome, OH HELL YES IT DOES. Chef's kiss to everything! Mother Wolf may not have the vastest menu, but the food is impeccable. You can tell there's a love story to everything, from fresh veggies to the thin crusted pizzas (and I'm from New York - I can tell ya when it's a damn good pizza) to their saucy pastas. Do get the prawns. Do get the artichokes. Do get the pizzas.Worth coming here for drinks or a special occasion. Worth checking out the food. Worth checking out the decor. Do it, do it, do it!!!
Felt like I was back in Rome. Great vibe, great staff. Food was amazing.

Was super excited to experience Mother Wolf after bearing thru their ridiculous reservation process (felt like trying to get tee times to my favorite golf course!). Been to Felix in Venice and had high hopes! The venue and ambiance is absolutely amazing as is the service. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment and did not match the mood that was set early on. We started with the Blossoms and Artichoke which turned out to be better part of the dinner. Surprisingly the pasta dishes we ordered disappointed and fell VERY short of our expectations......and a glimpse of our experience of FELIX. Im not one to write negative reviews but for the costs and absurd reservations process, there's plenty of other Italian restaurants in LA I'd rather explore.......Bestia remains supreme.
😒
This place is very full of itself.
I would rather eat at Felix in a heartbeat. The space is beautiful, and the crowd lends itself to a Hollywood vibe best found on a reality show that depicts LA as vapid and soulless. The food is good. Menu is the same format as Felix and even some of the dishes are the same. There is a microphone for servers to call out orders and it's distracting and feels more suited for an Eataly. Not sure why it's so impossible to get a reservation since the space is huge. I don't need to go back. If I have friends visiting from out of town I'll send them there to experience what they see on reality television.
😒
Delicious food, great decor, and an exciting menu.
I've been looking forward to dining here for some time now and I will say that the food did not disappoint with the exception of the cacio e Pepe. Nonetheless, this wasn't the reason for the three star review. It was the constant feeling of being rushed to wrap things up and leave. You would think that an Italian restaurant would promote an environment where you eat, drink, and enjoy your evening. Well, it was everything but enjoying the evening. The dishes came out quickly, one after another, limiting us from fully enjoying our pastas after the appetizers and the pizza we ordered. But what was most disturbing was the fact that they brought the check to our table three times before we were ready to pay. Each time we had to tell them that we wanted more drinks or desert or coffee. Finally, we were "kicked out" or I should say offered a drink at the bar as long as we departed the table. Unfortunately, this is our reality now - no customer service.
🤢
After spending hundreds of dollars at this restaurant, and
After spending hundreds of dollars at this restaurant, and recommending it to friends, we were charged $80 for cancelling a recent reservation before the 24 hour deadline. I pleaded with the manager, Megan, to waive this fee, as we were eager to return again, and again with friends; the restaurant is walking distance from our home. Megan, refused, saying "they have to stick to their policy." So If you make a reservation, pray nothing happens, or you're paying for it. Best of luck to Mother Wolf when things cool off. Hollywood has myriad new restaurants opening this spring.
😍
Mother Wolf does not disappoint.
I worried that a restaurant with so many covers would have to cut corners and not live up to the standards set at Felix, but I was wrong. You will find the same level of attention to detail and obsessions with quality and authenticity. The main differences between the two are that the pizzas at MW are thin crust, the menu is focused on Roman cuisine only, the pasta shape selection is more narrow, the crowd is completely different (younger, louder) and the service style, while very friendly, is more salesy. Stand out dishes in my two recent visits were the Mortazza and the maritozzo with Harry's Berries strawberries, but it's hard to go wrong.
😍

I'm a huge fan of Felix in Venice & I was so excited to finally try Mother Wolfe. I have to say Mother Wolf didn't disappoint. Everything from the food to the service was 5 stars. Outstanding! The restaurant is beautiful. Our server Johnny P. really made our experience top notch. He was so attentive and made sure we were able to enjoy our meal and still have time to head out to see a play at the Pantages Theatre. We started with the Ruchetta salad which I couldn't get enough of. I ordered my favorite dish which is Rigatonicini all Vaccinara (WOW!!) My husband is a vegetarian and he had the Spaghetti Arrabbiata which was a perfect blend of spice and flavor & also we shared the Tonarelli Cacio e Pepe. If you love black pepper you will love this pasta dish. The desserts are equally decadent. Surprisingly, the olive oil cake was delicious and the Budino Di Gianduja was out of this world. Who knew! I hope that one day Chef Funke will bring back the Gnocchi that I had the pleasure of eating twice at Felix. Once with white truffles and the other time with oxtail ragu. Pure heaven!

Dare I say that I like Mother Wolf more than Felix I've
Dare I say that I like Mother Wolf more than Felix I've been going to Felix since day 1 and it's evolved over the years into absolute perfection. What I love about Mother Wolf is that it's more accessible and relaxed. The space is gorgeous. The restaurant runs to perfection somehow after just opening. This is truly and impressive new restaurant by Evan Funke. He's is not only one of the best chefs in the world but he also knows how to run a restaurant perfectlyOnly complaint is the strong sales vibe with some of the sommeliers and managers. There's a slight element of attitude when you don't spend as much money as possible. I'm not going to order more sparkling water or a bottle of wine when I won't drink either, so I'd prefer just the regular old high level customer service. :)
😒
First off, let me state that the food was Fantastic.
Loved everything we got and would imagine everything we didn't get would have been equally as good. Bravo to the kitchen! But the service was horrible. My husband and I arrived early so we went to the bar to wait for our friends. The bartender was not very friendly but the drinks were good. When the host grabbed us from the bar they said they would need the table at 7:45. What were we supposed to say? No? Ok fine.$500+ later it is 7:45. I still have almost a full glass of $32 barolo. We just finished our pasta. And the next piece of paper to arrive at the table was our bill. No dessert. No offering of more water. Just basically get out. My suggestion is to seat the first part of the party when they arrive. We could have ordered our appetizers while waiting for the others to arrive so we could have avoided the horrible feeling of not being offered dessert and/or feeling welcome to finish our pricey drinks. I know Evan Funke knows better hospitality than that....
😍

Probably one of the best meals I've ever had!! The Gamberi in salsa verde, Pizza Rossa, Saltimbocca and Fiori di zucca are all must tries!!!! So so delicious, I'll seriously dream about this meal forever. Chef Evan Funke was also there cooking and was so so kind!

Took wife here for her birthday dinner and had an excellent meal. Food is excellent, space is beautiful, and service is super professional even if staff and clientele veer towards pretentious. Started with CARCIOFI ALLA GIUDIA and GAMBERI IN SALSA VERDE. Both were excellent. Artichokes we're perfectly fried and crispy, portion was generous. Shrimp were super tasty. Would highly recommend both. Chef also provided us with a taste of the FIORI DI ZUCCA on the house, super crispy and appreciated. Followed up with the DIAVOLA pizza. Crust was thin, crispy and delicious. Was a little spicy for my taste, especially in combination with other foods (one complaint would be about pacing of food; both of our starters, along with the pizzas, were brought out together). That said, it was a very delicious pizza; next time would maybe try one of the others.Finished with two of their fantastic pastas, the TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE and the RIGATONI ALL'AMATRICIANA. Both were very good, and complimented each other nicely. The Amatriciana was a standout, the crispy guanciale was amazing.Even with the sneaking suspicion that certain guests get preferred treatment (especially this early on). Would highly recommend, if just based on the quality of food.

Amazing, dreamy experience! The decor felt like a movie set, the food was delicious, and the server helped us decide what to order. The drinks and dessert did not disappoint either!

First of the building itself and the architecture alone
First of the building itself and the architecture alone makes it worthwhile. If you are a fan of a great Negroni this is the place to go. Good service even though place is packed! Try the shrimp and the arugula salad for appetizer. Bronzino for main course with this awesome lamb Gnocchi. Will go back to try the other items on the menu if and when I get another reservation.

Unsure how there are so many good reviews.
Was one of worst dinning experiences. From the extremely rude staff who sounds they are are trained to be complete a holes from their responses. Our food was served ice cold and they would not warm up. They sat a group of 5 at the oddest table ever. No one could talk since we we were 6 feet apart, not to mention the horrible music that was way too loud. The only good part of the meal was how friendly and gracious the chef was. Everything else was awful.
😍
Our experience at Mother Wolf was more than enjoyable.
From the quality and friendliness of all the staff to the food and cocktails. It was difficult to get reservations but the effort to do so was well worth it. From the moment we stepped in we had a good vibe about the place. I drove all the way from Malibu and I was late by about 20 minutes, I was thinking that they would not entertain the idea of sitting us but they gave us no attitude for being late and said we will gladly serve you dinner if you don't mind waiting for a bit at the bar. Which was fine, the bar was lively and spacious. The decor and ambience of the place reminds you of a restaurant in Manhattan, full of life. Now the food, everything we had was incredible - fresh and full of flavor. We had 2 salads, a pizza and pasta and of course dessert. From the presentation to the the taste of the food - "10". We will be back, in fact getting my assistant to get a party of 7 in there for a dinner party on March 17th. Hoping they will take us!!!
😍
Memorable, purposeful, intentional, and delicious.
Sit at the pizza bar, witness the magic. Thank you, chef
😍
Fourth time eating dinner here.
Splurged on truffle and cheese pizza, along with zucchini blossoms, pasta, and steak. So much truffles, the slices were huge, thick, fragrant, and delicious!

Extremely slow service, it seemed like the waiters were tired and did not wanted to be there. The food was just okay, definitely not worth the 45 minutes we had to wait to be seated even though we had a reservation. Not worth the hype. There are so many great Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, don't waste a meal in this one.
🤢
I wish this place was about the food because I like most of
I wish this place was about the food because I like most of Chef Evan Funke's cuisine. Unfortunately, this place will be destroyed by the over-saturation of who's who in Hollyweird. The entire experience at Mother Wolf was such a turn off and why the LA dining scene, despite great cuisine and creativity, could never compare to a New York establishment. I hate to compare the two but people who really love good food and excellent service should avoid this place like the plague. My friend and I, a chef from Quince in SF, had a reservation at 9:45, which is already late because I hate when the waiter says "we're out of this, this and this." We want to experience the whole menu, and given the fact they close at 10 pm, I was pissed that this was the only reservation I could get. Needless to say, we really wanted to try it, so I accepted my fate. There are a million people waiting at the first door, as if it were an entrance to a club. There is someone "checking" your ID and vaccination card. Then you meet the host. My friend arrived at 9:30 and the host said he could seat us when I arrived. That was complete BS; when I arrived, they told us to wait at the bar and get some drinks. Massive eye roll. The restaurant decor is nice, but its absolutely nothing to write home about; a lot of red and marble; ehhh. We waited at the corner of the bar for 15 minutes before someone even looked at us. We finally caught someone's attention and the drinks are mediocre at best. After waiting 30 minutes, it is now close to 10 pm, the other person in my party decided to ask the host what the deal was and he replied "there are a couple parties ahead of you." What does that mean exactly? Later on we found out that they were also accepting walk-ins. On a busy night like this, 1. please take your reservations first and 2. do not accept walk-ins; you do not have enough staff to accommodate all of these people. There is literally a guy walking around with tickets asking if we are party so and so. After another 15 minutes, they offered us a table in the bar area. At this point I was livid. With a reservation, we waited 30 minutes after to get a table, and they want to seat us at the bar? ARE YOU MAD? We then requested a dining room seat and they said there was nothing available. At this point we wanted to leave but figured it was too late to try anywhere else with no reservation. No one came to our table for another 15 minutes. We are now approaching 10:40. No water, no bus boy, nothing. Finally someone came over and it was a sommelier. I just had to laugh. Finally after 20 minutes, we met our "waiter" and he was such a prick; so snarky and full of unnecessary attitude. We ordered everything at once obviously. So the food is the reason we can give this place two stars. We started out with the squash blossoms. They came out almost immediately. They were very well made but lacked flavor. Often when ricotta comes into play, people forget they have to season it; but they were executed perfectly despite the delicacy. The oxtail meatballs were up next; reminded me more of an arancini than anything else. The consistency of the oxtail was quite impressive, but too salty. Flavors weren't right and the tomato sauce at the base left much to be desired. The Diavola pizza Romana really stood out. The sauce was beautiful, the flavor was great, slightly thinner than a Neapolitan style pizza, but very good. The cacio e pepe with truffle was the stand out dish; $75 but worth every penny. I felt that it was sitting because it came out lukewarm but the flavor was perfect and probably one of the best I've had in and outside of Italy. The truffles are obviously an added bonus. We then ordered the Scottadito. This could have been another standout dish, but the texture of the meat was rubbery. I wanted to cry. How disappointing! Flavors were good however, great mix of salt, oil and fat. I love a good olive oil cake but at this point, it was 12:15. I couldn't wait to get up and I hate feeling that way when I sat down to a $300 dinner. By the time we got the check, it was 12:30. Cringe, cringe, cringe. We were so nauseated by the service and I was so embarrassed that I brought someone with such a refined palate to this place. We really wanted to order like the whole menu, but everything else about this place left a bad taste in our mouths. Won't be back. Sorry Quincy.
