..amazing. Perfect place for a romantic dinner. Make sure you make reservations because they get booked. I was on a wait list for a few days until I finally received notice for an open table and was able to make a 9:15pm reservation for a Thursday evening. The staff is super friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. My boyfriend and I went there for our anniversary. The drinks were all delicious. My first drink was named "Scotty doesn't know" and I think it was one of my favorites ever! The other drinks were good as well. The food was really tasty; they change their menu daily and the menu has the date on the bottom along with the chefs signature. I got the flounder which was very light and flaky and all the flavors went together well. My boyfriend got the rib eye which was tasty but the presentation could be better. Let's just say...I think the dessert was my favorite, it melted in your mouth. I'm still craving the dessert which was the sticky sorghum pudding. It is similar to a bread pudding but so much better! I would definitely come back again!

Overall: A step above the rest, FIG is a must for an elevated date night experience. Just be sure to plan in advance and expect higher prices. The good: The seafood options here are what you would expect/want in lowcountry fine dining. We started with the gig flounder + carolina gold rice bowl - The sorghum and ikura (roe) shown through along with the gold rice, creating a perfect blend of savory and salty flavors. Each bite was perfectly balanced, and it was arguably our favorite choice of the night. The lowcountry bourride was also a favorite - comforting yet adventurous in terms of spices and seafood profiles. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and more carolina gold rice is never a bad thing. The tilefish was also fabulous, and the drink menu had fun options to choose from. Service was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is cozy. The not-so-good: Pricey and hard to get into. You will definitely need to plan well in advance if you want to get a table. Also, the shishitos + razor clams were good, but not as great as the other dishes that we had. It was missing a certain balance and heartiness compared to other dishes. Can be loud at times.Food/drink: 9/10Atmosphere: 9/10Service: 9/10

I concur with every review that says FIG lived up to the recommendation and hype -- SO thrilled we were able to snag a reservation here (4 weeks to the day, at 12noon they open up, and yes...they go FAST, I ended up calling at 12:03 and it was either 5, 6:15 or 9:00 p.m....).We took the 6:15 on July 2 and enjoyed one of the best dinners we've had in a long time. Service was impeccable --I wish I got our server's name but if anyone from the restaurant is reading this, our server was a veteran of FIG, he had a great sense of humor, made wonderful recommendations, and was overall, a joy.Though the menu changes daily, apparently, a few classics are always on: the pate, fish stew, and mashed potatoes. So we did all of that, plus a baba ghanoush/cottage cheese starter, and a triggerfish with a heaping serving of a salad on top. Food was simple, but elevated, and beyond delicious.

Got lucking with reservations, we were impressed with everything we ordered from appetisers to dessert. This place is a must try, you will regret it if you don't go.

Every time I eat here I leave saying it is one of the best meals I've ever had. The food is absolutely incredible. It is prepared perfectly and I loved the rotating menu. It makes the experience different each time. Of all the places in Charleston, FIG is easily in my top 3
😍
Best restaurant in Charleston.
We have been to many Charleston restaurants and this is definitely the best from the cocktails to the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Tomato Tarte Tatin is not to miss. The portion sizes are small enough so that you can enjoy all three courses and not feel stuffed.
😍
Seriously fun high end hole in the wall.
Really nice vibe, great food. A little pricier than $$ but worth it overall.
😍
FIG lived up to the hype of its reputation.
From the moment you walk in, this feels like an upscale dining experience. The restaurant is dimly lit, and the color of the walls is a dark cherry color. There were some floral arrangements. The food: Delicious! The highlights were the gnocchi and the arugula salad starters. The gnocchi had the fluffiest texture. The bolognese sauce was so good I wanted to scrape every last drop off the plate. The arugula salad was simple and fresh. For the main course, I had the seafood bourride, which is a variety of seafood (shrimp, mussels, fish) in a savory broth over rice and herbs. It was outstanding! But I did wish I had some bread for the sauce. Some of our party members were not big seafood eaters, so they only had two possible options on the menu (chicken or steak). I think everyone enjoyed their meals. We skipped dessert. The service was excellent. Drinks and waters were full all night. The server was attentive and the food was well-timed. Negatives: 1) the main dining room is one large open space, which it gets loud. 2) There are only two single stall bathrooms for the whole restaurant, so there was a line each time. 3) they don't serve bread, but it definitely feels like the type of restaurant where they should serve bread.

Amazing food here! As others say, be sure to make a reservation in advance or line up before they open. We didn't have a reservation but since there were just 2 of us we decided to take out chances and were able to snag a seat at the bar. Excellent cocktails, gnocchi I am still thinking about 2 months later, and delicious dessert. Definitely recommend this place!

I hate to be the one to say it, but this restaurant is completely OVERRATED. Last night, I got the Cobia and it was old, overcooked, and fishy. My date had the strip steak and said it was good, but the side of eggplants wasn't. Additionally, the girl at the table next to us took out a freaking led spotlight to take photos of the food. This light was so bright you could probably see it from mars. I mean a HUGE light, and spent about 15 min shining it in our faces taking photos of the food and not a single employee did anything to stop it. Go have a $300 dinner somewhere that's worth it!
My only complaint is that it was so good i ate way too much and had to lay down for a couple hours in the dark afterwards. Pommes purée has my heart
Was able to score a table later in the evening even if the place was already packed for a Tuesday night. The menu changes daily depending on what’s fresh for the day, but at the server’s recommendation, I decided to try two of their menu staples: chicken liver pâté and the gnocchi bolognese. Both were nothing short of delicious. The pâté was rich and creamy but does not overwhelm. The brioche and pickles it came with were just right. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and the sauce was perfection. If you find yourself in Charleston, you must try.
We had a late dinner after a show. Sometimes restaurants start to wind down at the end of the evening. Not here. Everything was hopping and first rate. The cocktails we started with, Co-Pilot and Flightless Bird, were both excellent. I chatted with the bartender and realized that one of them would be impossible to replicate at home. For appetizers we had the razor clams and the rice bowl rudder fish, both excellent. For mains we had the tilefish and the low country bourride. I’m usually not a fan of various forms of seafood stew. But this was a revelation. The chocolate budino was a wonderful ending. Again, wow!
😍
The best food on my first visit to Charleston!
Hard to choose my favorite thing about this restaurant - both the food and the service were exceptional! Set in an unassuming building in the heart of Charleston, Fig definitely lived up to its stellar reputation. Elizabeth, our server, was the perfect combination of competence and fun. The food- starting with the gnocchi appetizer, to the main courses of triggerfish and hanger steak, to the lime cream puffs for dessert - perfection! Reservations are not easy to get but SO worth the effort!

Fantastic meal, great server, delicious wine
Corinne, our server, set the tone with her fun, upbeat service. She was a delight even though the restaurant was packed. We started with ricotta gnocchi which melt in your mouth and -wait for it-CLAMS+FRESH DUG POTAOTES.PESTO,POLE BEANS,SOURDOUGH. The latter was my favorite dish among the many I had at Charleston's top rated restaurants this trip. I was put off by the potato idea, but the ingredients proved flavorfully insane as a combination. In fact,I had a clam dish at another top restaurant the next night which was absolutely good. However, following on the heels of this crazy combo of flavors,I couldn't get off first base with it. You may not have the same reaction, but I loved the creativity of combining these ingredients,The broth was consumed down to the last drop. Next I had the pork tenderloin Milanese with pesto siciliano, argula and herbs. The portion was enormous and easily enough for two people , but not very flavorful. The arugula gave it much needed punch ,but the pesto siciliano did not carry the dish once the arugula was eaten. Still, this was one of my better meals at Fig and we will be back.

DON'T use Resy to Reserve a table at Fig
Reserved online with Resy. Big mistake. Resy is a poor excuse for reservation systems. Reserved weeks in advance but, based on Resy's poor reputation. decided to call the Fig directly to confirm the reservation. The person who answered the phone didn't see out reservation in the system but reserved for us anyway. Upon arrival at the Fig, the front desk had no record of either the Resy reservation nor the reservation that had been made directly. Fortunately we were able to dine later after having appetizers at the bar. Dinner was good but one of the fish dishes was somewhat overcooked. Having visited Fig in the past we have decided there are too many other good restaurants in Charleston and will give the Fig a pass for a few more years. The quality of Fig's food has slipped. In any case be highly suspicious of any reservation made using Resy. Use OpenTable instead if you can.

The Gold Standard of Dining Experience
Food: What you hear is definitely true. It is James Beard Award restaurant, and it deserves it. - Appetizers: All top notch, what we tried and recommend: Lamb Tartar, the simple lettuce salad, “Little Gem Lettuce” and of course the must try “Ricotta Gnocchi”. - Entrée/main dishes: All dishes are executed with perfection. The masterpieces we tried and recommend: Sauteed Mutton Snapper, and the Corn Flour Dusted Yellow edge Grouper. In the past, I tried the skillet Hanger Steak ….. I still remember how amazing it tasted (try if you want meat instead of fish). - Deserts: The Sorghum Pudding is to die for. The Hazelnut tart is good as well. Drinks: I tried to study the wine list (16 pages) the might before, it was overwhelming, so I gave up and I just asked the Sommelier at the dinner for good pairing with the food. She is knowledgeable and courteous. The wine selection was done to please everyone and for all budgets and not overly overpriced above the market sale price. A selection from around the world. I am a sommelier myself, and I was pleased with the selection and “Collection”. Service: Our Waitress Ashley L.S. is amazing, experienced, observant, and courteous. Ambience/atmosphere: This place for everyone, those of the street; the tourists with their shorts, t-shirts and back packs, and those passing by with their jeans and slippers, and those like us who wants to celebrate a special occasion with a tie and a jacket. The restaurant owner will not turn anybody away as dress code is not reinforced, But Street cloths MAY BE OK on a weekday, but not on a weekend. Value: This is a Perfect for food lovers. You pay a reasonable price for a Perfect Meal. Overall rating! A Perfect Score. 5 out of 5. 100% Recommendations: A must try, if you can get a reservation spot (other than the occasional10 pm availability.
Family dinner went great. Drinks are well-made and food is delicious Staff is polite and welcoming. Definitely will be back.

Plan ahead for this one!
Tip #1: Ask the waiter what they would recommend. Their menu is curated and tasteful, and it is well worth asking the waitstaff for their recommendations to be sure you do not miss a delicious dish that may have slipped your eye initially. Gluten free and vegetarian options available. A lovely place for dinner that is well worth the splurge. Just be sure to book in advance as tables are quickly snatched up!
So good. Have been here twice now and never disappointed. The gnocchi is honestly I think my favorite. Fun creative drinks as well. Just have to plan ahead to get a reservation!

It is extremely difficult to get a reservation however it is worth the wait. Everything is delicious!
Amazing place for a gorgeous dinner. Obviously they were full but we waited for walk in seats and without too long a wait we sat at the bar. Amazing staff, especially Fabianna at the bar, even if she didn’t know who Paddington Bear was. Had a visit from Jason and then saw the amazing kitchen.
Definitely try the gnocchi.
Can’t wait to visit again on our next trip.

Do you know what FIG stands for? Food Is Good.
Not only is the food good at FIG, it is tremendous. You have to make reservations at least two months in advance. You know everything is fresh because the menu is dated and signed by the chef. We decided to share the ricotta gnocchi alla bolognese. This was the star of the show. It is in house gnocchi that was so tasty. For our entrees, he had the soft shell crab and I had the red snapper. His soft shell crab came with a carrot purée, spring peas and asparagus. My snapper came with spinach, ham and fingerling potatoes. Yes we had dessert but neither one of us remembers what it was called. A chocolate dessert with caramel on the bottom. Delicious. Would I come back here? Whenever I'm in Charleston. If you see me there, stop by and say hello.

My partner and I booked a late dinner reservation at FIG
My partner and I booked a late dinner reservation at FIG (recommend reservations!). We shared the gnocchi as an appetizer and my partner had the lamb tartar. We both had a glass of red. To be fair, the server asked if I liked the wine during the taste and I approved. After a couple more sips, it was too sour for my taste, but my partner graciously swapped with me. As a vegetarian in a seafood and meat-heavy city, FIG presented a simple but well made vegetable spread. I liked the selection a bit more at Husk and SNOB, but no complaints at FIG. I left happy and satisfied, and that's all anyone really wants
😍
How do I love thee let me count the ways.
.. delicious, beautifully plated, tasty, fresh, best wait staff I think we've ever had anywhere. Feliz was so on point and warm, but also was like an encyclopedia of their menu. She happily walked us through a tour of what they were offering, her descriptions were so detailed I could almost taste the food. The entire wait staff was attentive and we never had to wait for anything. I tasted almost every dish at our table of six, except the things I don't eat. My fish on a spinach purée was cooked to perfection. The chicory salad was not overly bitter and was plentiful. All six of us loved our dinners! Lastly, the dining room was surprisingly attractive, monochromatic, and well appointed. The outside is quite unassuming. Our dinner at FIG made our visit to S. Carolina, dreamy and delicious! Food is good, + WIG. Waitress is Good, too!
😍
Excellent dinner! I suggest giving the community table a go.
It was great fun. Met some lovely people from Washington (thanks for dinner and the wine!!) Boston, New York and Charleston. Elizabeth was our server and her care for our table was impeccable, thank you. I cant recommend the chicory salad enough. Each of us at the table ordered it after it was delivered to another. We also enjoyed the crab and trigger fish dinners. Every bite was delicious. The laughs and conversation were the perfect accompaniment. Thank you friends!

We recently revisited FIG.
While it was good, it was not as amazing as it should be for the hype and price point. Service was attentive but slow with beverages. We began with Blackberry Farms Brewing's Classic Saison canned beers at $9 each. I have a 6-pack of these in my fridge which I purchased for $11 from Earth Fare. Yes, FIG should make a profit on alcohol, but that seems extreme.Later we had a Sorghum Old Fashioned cocktail for $22. It was fine, like any other old fashioned, so I am not sure what equated to $22 in that cocktail. For appetizers, we ordered the B-Liner Snapper + Carolina Gold Rice Bowl (benne, popped sorghum, ikura) for $25 and the Lamb Tartare (pecan, aged cheddar, horseradish, seedy rye crisps) for $24. The snapper bowl was okay--nothing spectacular. There were some very fish bits of red meat too close to the bloodline in the fish that should not have been included with the fleshy filets. The lamb tartare was amazing. I should have ordered a second for my meal.My entrée was the Sautéed Softshell Crabs (curried carrot purée, spring peas, asparagus) for $46. All softshell crabs I've previously had were fried, so the sauteed crabs had an odd texture...gooey meat inside and a harder, pop-in-your-mouth shelled exterior. Fried would have been much better. I was also disappointed that the crab did not have the usual rich, meaty flavor of a savory blue crab. All in all, our experience was good, but for nearly $300 for two people, I could get higher quality food elsewhere for that same price point in Charleston. I can't recommend going back anytime soon.

Top food experience in Charleston, bonus with delicious cocktails. Chicken Liver pate, ricotta gnocchi, soft shell crabs and bourride. Yum!
If the tomato tarte tatin is on the menu, get it. I still think about that dish from time to time. Every single item we tried was excellent. The service is just as good as the food. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Charleston.
😍
Freaking Incredibly Good.
Best restaurant in Charleston, and best espresso martini in Charleston. Hands Down.
🙂
First time here - read all the reviews prior to visit.
To start, my $9 beer was warm and the reorder was not much better. The bartenders were lovely but no answer for tap issues. The gnocchi were delicious but were lukewarm and way overpriced. We had the soft shell crab and the pork tenderloin. Both good but underwhelming. The tenderloin was breaded and reminded me of shake and bake. Decent but something I could do by myself. The soft shells were similar - have had better at a beach bar in OC MD..Overall - I expected way more.

Someone else said the gnocchi were little balls of heaven, they were correct. This was the best meal of my life and I've had 3 plates of the most incredible pasta in Italy. We started with the Wahoo, incredible. Along with the lamb tartar, flavor for days. We then had the pork Milanese with ricotta gnocchi I've never had more flavorful meat in my life. The gnocchi was the perfect accompaniment. Shoot your shot and try walking in like we did you never know when you might strike gold.
When visiting Charleston, we heard from a friendly local about Fig. The food was fabulous and the servers very friendly. Portions were generous and the service superb.

We revisited this establishment from our initial visit six
We revisited this establishment from our initial visit six years ago. It was good, not the near great I remembered. Dishes were slow to appear, lukewarm and much more expensive than I recall.

Amazing food & service!
I'd been trying for 3-4 weeks to make a reservation at FIG but couldn't get one until 9:45pm and later. On a lark we decided to stop by & take our chances around 8 and were immediately seated. The tilefish entree was amazing and the sticky sorghum pudding with amaretto pudding was to die for! Loved it!
🙂
walked in at 5:40pm, already full inside.
After a couple minutes, was able to sit outisde. A bit of disappointment not to sit inside but the server said reservation is necessary to sit inside next time.. With kind explanation of each menu by kind server, ordered chicory salad and chicken. Salad was really excellent with bluecrab and a hint of greek yogurt. Mohito virgin was not too exciting taste but ok. Slow cooked chicken was a pleasant surprise. Very tender, no fat, no weird smell, but just nice proteins. Ragu sauce with some peas reminded me of Indian dishes for some reason but anyway it was really a wonderful dish. Cream puffs were huge portion for one, there were three puffs came. Nice lime flavored cream to refresh the mouth and crunch puffs were also fun to finish my meal!Parking is easy to find behind the restaurant if you dont mind paying to a private parking company. Pre-paid $7 for 2hrs. Be mindful that parking machine takes only cash without change! To pay by credit card, it requires texting to somewhere.. I paid cash.. It could've been five stars if I were not dining outside.. Buses and cars were passing too close to my table, and making loud noise, especially fire truck.. chilly temp for me outside, (ended up drizzling rains at the end..) then people walking too close to me while my mouth was full with foods..To avoid all these, need to plan ahead to make a reservation!
😍
A restaurant that that lives up to its hype.
The meal, service and atmosphere fulfullied all expectations that I had of a fine dining experience in Charleston and that is a tall order. The meal met the 7 criteria for fine dining - ingredients, technique, genius, harmony, atmosphere, project and value. A rarity in todays environment. Our server was versed in the preparation of each dish and that provided help in choosing menu items. The gnocchi was delicious! Made with ricotta and not potatoes in the pasta resulting in a light and delicate dish. Make sure to call exactly a month ahead for reservations. The food is well worth the cost.
FiG (Food Is Good) is a must for anyone who enjoys good food along with excellent presentation. The onion appetizer was amazing and the gnocchi melted in your mouth. Sea Bass and Flounder entrees were delicious. Cocktails and desserts rounded out a great dinner experience.
Bookings are hard to get here, but we were lucky enough to get some walk-in places on the communal table. The food was delicious and original - a welcome change from what seemed to be the largely generic fare available in most places. On top of this we had excellent service and great conversation with our fellow diners. Not the cheapest food in Charleston, but given its quality, the best value. The culinary highpoint of our trip to the South.
