Wonderful restaurant in Charleston
My husband and I had dinner at Husk for the first time while visiting Charleston. The waiter was attentive, very helpful and knowledgeable about all the menu items. We decided to share the fried oysters and beet salad for appetizers. Both were equally delicious and nice portions. For the main meal, we chose the Vermilion Snapper, sea island rice peas, and kale in a buttermilk broth. The fish was cooked with the skin on which brought out the crunchy texture. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. For dessert, my favorite part of the entire meal, we chose a mocha sundae, which was coffee ice cream and butter toffee topping. It sat in a light cocoa powder of some sort and had chocolate sorbet drizzled over it. I still think about the dessert as the crunchy toffee with the creamy coffee was a great combination! The ambience was very nice, cheery and it was packed but not noisy! We will definitely be back to Husk in the future.

When we arrived for brunch at The Husk Restaurant, we checked in at with the hostess and had to wait for our table to be cleaned off. It was packed and the kitchen was slow. Our server Brian F. was knowledge about the menu and told us food typically takes about half an hour. For drinks, I wanted a sweet cocktail and was recommended the Charleston Light Dragoon's Punch, which consisted of brandy, barbados rum, peach brandy, black tea, lemon, and raw sugar shaken, served over the rocks and garnished with a lemon peel. My friend Andrew had the Husk Old Fashioned, which consisted of Chattanooga 19 bourbon, Virgil Kaine Rye, angostura and cherry bitters shaken, served with an ice block, and garnished with orange peel. Both of the cocktail creations were delicious and I highly recommend them. For brunch, we shared a salad and Fried Chicken & Waffles. The salad consisted of kale and arugula tossed in a peppery lemon vinaigrette garnished with cucumber and strawberries. I guess they ran out of lettuce and didn't bother to tell me. If I had known it was so peppery, I wouldn't order this again. The Fried Chicken & Waffles consisted of a round waffle with four quadrants, topped with candied pecans, maple syrup, honey butter, two fried chicken drumsticks and chicken breast. The fried chicken was mildly spicy. It was delicious. My only complaint was the maple syrup was in one quadrant and the honey butter was in another quadrant. If I order this again, I would ask for these to be on the side so I could spread them evenly among the quadrants.

This place is amazing, so I will get straight into the review.Food - Incredible. I had their SC Chicken with gravy, vegetables, and it was absolutely delicious. Their menu changes very frequently depending on the products that arrive, but if something similar is on the menu I would highly recommend it.Service - Great! There are some tables outside that you can sit at, however if you sit outside in the bar area the menu is more limited. Inside and on the patio are fine, though. Reservations are absolutely necessary, and in some cases even if you try to reserve there won't be any times left.Parking - There is a big parking lot nearby.Overall, this place is amazing, and I would highly recommend anyone in or visiting Charleston to try this place.

Husk lived up to the hype.
I am a vegetarian in a city surrounded by southern comfort and seafood. Husk would never think to make their veg-based dishes an after thought, as so many places do. My bf and I ate late (9:30) and our reservation was at 9. Our server comped our appetizers to thank us for our patience, which was appreciated. We loved the feel of the restaurant, like walking into a southern dinner party, beautifully kept. Thanks to Husks' staff for their hospitality and amazing dishes.

Husk-Excellent Service and Food
Our server, Rob, made our night unforgettable. He knew all aspects of the wine list and menu items. We were celebrating our anniversary, which the restaurant remembered on our personalized menu.
Rob suggested wonderful menu items and wine pairings. We selected the soft shell crab special and the duck entree. It was difficult to pick which one was our favorite. They were both excellent. We finished our dinner with the dark chocolate peanut butter dessert. Our experience at Husk was excellent.

For God's sakes, don't order a strip steak.
Tough peice of meat, not easily chewed, and they will still charge you for it.Beware.A manager happened by, and asked how the meal was. After discussing how ineditable the steak was, she did what the waiter would not do - took it off the bill. The crime of was not the cost, but the experience of looking forward to a really good meal, and being served something that would have better cooked and prepared at a Ponderosa Steak House, with friendlier service as well.Pass on this one, don't be fooled by the long lead time to get a reservation. Just pass.

This place is an experience it has it all decor , service and 5star food too! Since the place has a 2 month wait list we love going to the beautiful next door brick bar. We had TY and Chuck these bar tenders are expert mixologists with superior knowledge in creation of their many delicious drinks. Most impressive are their recommendations of what to eat , drink and their 5 star service,, It's a must to visit with authentic Low Country food..
😍
Unbelievable experience from start to finish.
Leslie was the best and she made outstanding recommendations. We had an old fashioned, wine, the arugula salad, the duck and the chicken.. and of course the corn bread. Every bite was better than the last. The evolution of the meal was unbelievable. Just really can't say enough about the whole vibe.

Breaking Keto in style! Downtown Charleston, public parking

Breaking Keto in style! Downtown Charleston, public parking 1 block down, most restaurants are walking distance. Beautiful building, with a more formal dining area. Nice environment. A small outside patio area. Menu changes daily, lots of drink selection and wine options. Food is as good as expected - for the experience, sure! But I'm sure others would be just as good. For that reason I'm giving it a 3 star as their menu options were not out of the ordinary!

Made a reservation 2 months ago. Arrived a little early. Was waiting for about 20 minutes when a party of 5 arrived without a reservation. They were seated immediately at a table outdoors. Approached the hostess and let her know we would like to eat outdoors. Well that was the only outdoor table available then. Most restaurants give you an option.
She didn’t give it to us because we didn’t ask. We left because of the attitude we got when she saw we were upset. I’m sorry would have gone a long way
😍
Great ambiance, fantastic wait staff, food delicious.
Make a reservation or you won't get in.

Made a reservation close to 2 months ago.
Arrived 15-20 min early just to sit outside and wait for 20-30 min. All good til a party of 5 arrives a week early by a week. Given a choice to eat outdoors and be seated immediately. We weren't given a choice with the right date and time. Questioned our hostess. Her response was we didn't specify. We weren't given a choice. The party of 5 with wrong date and time were tho. We left. Poor customer service. Sorry we waited for nothing.
🤮
Horrible customer service.
We made a reservation 2 months in advance and arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes prior to our reservation and were told by the hostess to wait on a bench for a table to open up. After waiting for 40 minutes (20 minutes after our reservation time had passed) we overheard a part of 5 (much larger than our part of 2) being sat upstairs on the deck without any sort of reservation immediately. Upon hearing this we questioned the hostess why we were not given this option which they answered that we had not requested this but the part before us had not either they simply offered this. Spoke to the manager and he was equally as rude. Neither the hostess or manager was able to help us out with getting a table after making a reservation 2 months in advanced meanwhile larger parties were just being sat immediately right in front of us.

St. Patrick's Day Visit
This is a beautiful restaurant, and we enjoyed our meal. Our hostess was kind enough to move us outside to a quieter table, which we really appreciated. I had the the Golden Tilefish with Sea Island Rice Peas, Kale, Leeks, Dill, all in a Buttermilk Broth. Pretty yummy, but my daughter's choice of the Joyce Farms Chicken, House Pasta, Butternut, Spiced Pecans, Collards, all in Chicken Gravy was better. We finished with the outstanding peanut butter pie. So good! Definitely make reservations.

Overall, wasn't impressed with dinner at Husk (would recommend for brunch though!) A lot of hype, but not that memorable as far as food goes. We had the steak, pork, and catfish, and numerous apps. Food was good, but not great. Would go once to check it off the list, but unlikely to return again
Creative and delicious from start to finish. Unusual techniques and pairings, fresh ingredients and unique flavors. Highly recommend a reservation. Was sad to see people showing up looking like they were going to the gym or walking the dog. Too casual for the artistry of the chef if you ask me.

Husk is our go to brunch spot for our first weekend when visiting Charleston. Start with the Bloody Mary. We have never not enjoyed our meal. And the service is always very knowledgeable about the menu and willing to make suggestions.

Amazing experience! Get there early and grab a drink at the bar, the mixologists crafted a special drink for me because they were out of what I ordered, and it ended up being delicious. As far as the food, everything is locally sourced and the quality is outstanding. The seafood is fresh and the dishes are creative and thoughtful. Most importantly, everything we ate tasted scrumptious. Our server was awesome and I can't recommend Husk enough.
🤢
Place should be catering to an assisted living.
We were the youngest people by 30 years. The menu was garbage. The only good thing was the waiter was very knowledgeable and very attentive. Same your time and money and do not come here when in town, unless you have a medicare card.
" "Best meal I've ever had." "Excellent from start to finish, top to bottom." - People at my tableHusk is worth the hype. Even several years after earning its well-deserved accolades as a new restaurant in Charleston, Husk delivers outstanding southern food in an amazing atmosphere. Definitely arrive a bit before your reservation to enjoy a cocktail at the Husk bar and patio - they'll let you bring it to your table. Don't miss the chance to order the pork rib appetizer for the most heavenly, tender start to your meal. The duck confit is as good as advertised and the chicken was a sleeper favorite at our table. No matter how full you are, get dessert! We had a mocha sundae crunch and lost our minds. If you have a chance to eat at Husk, don't miss it!

As good as Savannah Husk

Husk Savannah Is one of my favorite restaurants in this country, so I was a bit worried when I saw some negative reviews, but was delighted that the Charleston property is just as good. All of Charleston seems to be experiencing severe staff shortages, so the staff here is doing a great job, considering the limitations. Food is delicious; carefully and lovingly prepared with superb ingredients. You get what you pay for, not cheap, but superlative quality. Butter Bean hummus with seeded crackers and brown butter peanuts is crazy good. Best ribs I can remember ever. Perfectly dressed salad. Really great restaurant, best we went to in Charleston.
Especially enjoyed the cornbread. Also the Thai duck was very good .

I recently revisited Husk after a several-year hiatus.
I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements to the menu and staff while maintaining the Husk feel. For brunch, we ordered:DRINKS- Gose, Creature Comforts, "Tritonia" Athens, GA | 5.0 ABV (12 oz. can) $7- Charleston Light Dragoon's Punch (Recipe from 1792 discovered in the Preservation Society of Charleston's archives) Brandy, Barbados Rum, Peach Brandy, Black Tea, Lemon Juice, Raw Sugar $12BRUNCH- Kat's English Muffin, Fried Green Tomato, Embered Kale, HUSK Pimento Cheese Hollandaise, Fried Farm Egg $17- HUSK Fried Chicken, Butter Bean & Field Pea Salad, Spring Onion, Green Tomato Pickles, Duke's $21DESSERT- Cinnamon Roll, Cream Cheese Icing $9Food and service were all outstanding. We enjoyed our time at Husk and will be back!
Lots of empty tables but we couldn’t be seated. In between chefs so the menu is smaller. We went for fried chicken unfortunately they didn’t have any. We sat at the bar for a while and the drink was sub par. Would Not recommend.

One of the best 45 dollar burgers I've ever had.
One of the best 45 dollar burgers I've ever had. Went there for brunch. Had the burger with fries and 2 beers. My wife had burger with a cocktail. Total bill was over 90 dollars. Friends had chicken with waffles and burger and cocktails. Burger was ok but five guys is much better at much lower price. Cocktails were excellent. Atmosphere and service are good. For the money spent we were disappointed.
😒
Overpriced with the food.
Great service not a place for kids. The waiter was creative enough to use a storage container to make a drink container for my son. However there were not any Childrens options. The building is beautiful and unique. Good spot for a date if you're not looking for amazing food.

We were able to get a 10pm reservation (we were only in
We were able to get a 10pm reservation (we were only in town for 3 days) so I decided to go ahead and snatch up the reservation... and we had decided to do a progressive dinner that evening, after all, there are way too many restaurants we wanted to try in our short stay. We had already been to two other places before we got to Husk, so we were really looking for drinks and a small course. Between the three of us, we ordered Hearth Baked Skillet Cornbread, Heritage Pork Lettuce Wraps, Slow Smoked Pork Ribs, and Southern Fried Chicken Thighs. They were all super excellent! Oh and I ordered Charleston Light Dragoon's Punch to drink. The service was superb, and we absolutely loved the last of our restaurant adventures! I would definitely go back to Husk if I find myself in Charleston again... and I'm bummed that I only got a photo of the lettuce wraps.
Came here with my wife for a romantic dinner. Very disappointed with under cooked cornbread and microscopic biscuits on the $25 charcuterie board. Catfish entree was good, but should have been half the price.
The service was great but as far as the food, it was so so. I can't say that it was terrible but it wasn't terrific either. My husband had the duck and I had the pork. Don't bother with the cornbread, it was dry and flavorless. We had the pimento and crackers for an app and they were good but not what I expected and pricey for what you got. Sometimes I wonder what I miss when there's so much hype about a restaurant. I feel bad when I come away feeling disappointed from a place that has such rave reviews. I enjoyed our lunch at Charleston Crab House way more.
Fabulous food, nice wine list, pricey but worth the experience. Great bar next door, so come early before your reservation!
Was excited to dine at Husk but our excitement wasn’t matched by our overall experience.
The bourbon cocktail was delicious as was the pork rib appetizer- but the pork lettuce wraps were tasteless and we couldn’t fathom why they, like the citrus tart dessert, were even on the menu.
Oh Husk! We had high hopes but sadly, we won’t be coming back again.
🤮
Not very impressed after all the hype.
Things must have gone downhill here after hearing how great it was purported to be and seems this restaurant is coasting on its soon to be former reputation. Additionally the management staff was not very friendly and waaaay pretentious. You can definitely get a better meal for the money in Charleston. Do not recommend Husk at all.
😒
Definitely a nice place to go out to a fancy dinner.
The line stuff is annoying but it's part of the experience. Appetizers were good especially the lettuce wraps. Main course was very bland and portion size was lacking. Needed to ask for more brown butter to spice it up w bit as the pork tasted quite bland. Overall, quite overhyped for the time and struggle needed to dine here.
There was nothing especially wrong with our lunch and nothing especially good. The shrimp and grits was just OK and some of the other dishes were not even that. Service was provided by an unkempt waiter who wanted to talk us to death, and the blaring pop music was the last straw.
This was the absolute best. The atmosphere, service, and quality of food was exceptional. Never felt rushed and allowing us to enjoy drinks, an appetizer, and we then ordered our dinner. Spacing of tables created privacy conversation. This was the perfect dining experience.
Nice atmosphere, tables are not crowded, seats are very comfortable. The music was not to our taste but thankfully, very low. Our waiter was very friendly but a bit too talkative and a bit too unkempt. The food was not what we expected. We were there for Sunday brunch--Fried Chicken and Waffles: the waffles were great but the chicken tasted like it had been par-fried. Shrimp and Grits: the grits were excellent but the shrimp was very overcooked and the consistency of rubber. This is unacceptable for any chef in Charleston. We won't be going here again.

How this restaurant has such a high rating with so many
How this restaurant has such a high rating with so many reviews boggles my mind. While everything ranged from average to pretty good, they were definitely not worth the hype or price. We ordered a salad, crackers with pimento cheese, pork in lettuce wraps. How they charge $15 for 3 small lettuce wrap is beyond me. Mediocre, overpriced food overall.
My friend suggested Husk since it was practically across the street from the law office we were in. He said since it's 5 pm a seat at the bar would be possible. I did get one! This is a top restaurant in Charleston. And I see why. My incredible helpful bartender suggested a lovely drink to start. Then I got the pimento cheddar appetizer. So good! The crackers seemed a bit too hard though. Just my opinion.I also got the smoked pork ribs. Came with pork rinds. Oh wow. These were a memorable app. Three tasty ribs!Cornmeal fried catfish was the main course and it was tasty. I appreciated the suggestion to try it. Paired with a nice white wine. My night was complete. Go and enjoy!
