One of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced and definitely the favorite from our 4 night stay in Charleston! From the outstanding food to the excellent service, we enjoyed every minute. Try the chef’s renowned ribeye along with the incredible crab cake. If the soft shell crab is in season, get that appetizer! This place is a must when in Charleston.
😍
Great meal, flawless service
This is my fourth time at this restaurant. Every time I go I have high expectations and every time I leave my expectations are more than met. The food is exceptional. The service is flawless. It is worth the price and for someone looking for memorable fine dining experience this is the place to go
😍
As with many of the top restaurants in Charleston, the food
As with many of the top restaurants in Charleston, the food at Charleston Grill was fantastic. Highlights were Tuna Crudo (bright and unique), Snapper, and carrot cake (best ever). The atmosphere was great, especially with our booth seating in a "nook" beside the live jazz trio...it felt like they were playing for us AND we were still able to hear each other b/c of our "nook". All of the above was spectacular but the service truly set the Charleston Grill apart from others. From the moment we were welcomed by the hostess, to having two wait staff attending to our table, the service was as good as it gets. Kudos Charleston Grill! This was the type of meal where you spend a lot of money and say "that was SO worth it". Highly recommended!
😍
It's a 5 star restaurant and dining experience.
If you have an anniversary or special occasion this is the place to go.
From the super friendly and on spot hostesses Emily and Olivia, to the great table service from Taylor, the delicious food, the live music and the whole ambience, there is no desire unfulfilled. I wish all restaurant waiters we met were like Taylor and his colleagues! Always there when you need them, but not too much there! Perfect balance.

Charleston Grill never disappoints! We have celebrated
Charleston Grill never disappoints! We have celebrated numerous family birthdays there, but have even gone during the late afternoon for a cocktail at the bar/break from King St shopping. The bar is great, they also have some first come first serve seating in the area off the bar where the live music typically is. There is also the dining room that is slightly quieter but you will still hear the music. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu, however at the moment my favorite appetizers are the Charleston Grill Crab Cake and the Ahi Tuna Crudo. The Prime Beef Tenderloin is my continuous favorite entree, however the Fish a la Plancha (market fish) has been very good as well! The Chocolate Hibiscus Mousse has been my favorite dessert as of late. They have an extensive wine selection - most recently we tried the 00, VGR out of Willamette Valley (upon recommendation from the sommelier) and it was delicious!

Sometimes you have that really amazing experience where
Sometimes you have that really amazing experience where everything is fabulous and that is the Charleston Grill. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed trying lots of interesting food. All of it was fabulous! Service was excellent and we were referred to by our names each time. We we're celebrating my husband's birthday and he got a lovely birthday card, candle with his dessert, and a lovely set of small treats. We had many wonderful food experiences in Charleston-but this one felt very special
😍
Classic dining. Exceptional staff
I’m more of an “off the beaten path” restaurant person but the couple we were with are big fans so we booked it. The menu is very limited but the food is fantastic and staff so professional. Mind readers they are :). I had the scallops, my husband the steak. The live music by the combo in the corner was such a nice touch. Dinner moved at a nice pace but we never felt rushed. Lovely dinner!!!
We have been to the Charleston Grill many times over the years. It never fails to provide an outstanding dining experience. The service levels are unparalleled. We ordered the chef's tasting menu and had the wine flight to accompany. The food was amazing. This is a splurge that is so worth it!
😍
We have been coming to the grill for the last six years
We have been coming to the grill for the last six years every time we visit Charleston. The service is over the top, the menu and wine list are great. Brian is always attentive and the rest of the staff is extremely friendly.
We’ve been coming to Charleston for the past 10 years but this was our it first experience at the Grill. Won’t be the last! Drew and all the staff were attentive, knew and appreciated the chef and her philosophy. We had the chef’s menu and it was beyond our expectations. Presentation, flavors, all the little touches and attention to detail in the food and ambiance, live jazz trio…Great way to spend a Friday evening.

We were sitted promptly and had drinks delivered in minutes. They did my favorite martini perfectly. Appetizers were timely. Being a steak lover I am very particular about them. This restaurant nailed it. I would highly recommend their steaks.

This place is a renowned restaurant and overall it was good
This place is a renowned restaurant and overall it was good but not great - I debated giving 3 stars instead. Get: foie gras; fish a la plancha; butter beans; crème brûlée Avoid: all bread service except corn muffins; heirloom tomato salad; tomato provencalThe server, Nellie, was AMAZING! :)For appetizers we tried the crab cake, heirloom tomato salad, foie gras, risotto. The crab cakes were mediocre - they really didn't have any flavor and were not excellent. The heirloom tomato salad was okay - the blue cheese was not stellar and the bacon was too much. The risotto - is NOT a risotto other than it is similar to an Arborio or carnaroli grain but it is vegan so there is no cheese in it. The flavor was nice though for a rice dish. The foie gras was one of the best foie gras dishes I've ever had - even in Paris. Truly an incredible appetizer! For entrees, we got the fish a la plancha and prime filet. The fish was light and fresh but not incredibly flavorful. The filet was tender but over cooked and not flavorful - there should've been far more sauce. For sides we got the tomato Provençal and butter beans - the butter beans were great! The Tomato Provençal was SO SALTY - it was entirely inedible. They did take this off the receipt without asking but it was shockingly bad. The desserts were better than the entrees. The lemon blueberry cake is light and tastes similar to a lemon meringue pie but the accomplish blueberry sorbet is very tart. The crème brûlée was perfect. Overall - I would come back truly only for the foie gras and be happy.

Not a restaurant to go out of the way for.
This is a typical convention restaurant. There are so many better restaurants in Charleston than this hotel restaurant. The bread service has sour dough, rosemary focaccia, and corn bread. Corn bread was the best. The crab cakes are mediocre. Nothing great. Their best dish is the foie Gras. The steak was dry and over cooked. Not good. The lemon asparagus risotto was better than the crab cake. The crème brûlée was a classic. The lemon pound cake with blueberry sorbet was good, but the blueberry sorbet was tart and awful. Skip this place unless you are stuck in the hotel and can't get a reservation elsewhere.
🤢
My wife ordered the crab cake from here in "crab country.
" It was smaller than a silver dollar and very expensive. She ate again 30 minutes later. It's a nice place, but please give us a substantial serving.
😍
All around excellence! From the greeting to the ambiance
All around excellence! From the greeting to the ambiance to the service staff to the food - all exceeded our expectation. We had a most enjoyable evening and will absolutely return.

Best Restaurant in Charleston
You must dine here if you are in Charleston. For one, the service was great; our server was polite and checked up on us often while also engaging in conversation with us. The atmosphere was also superb, as the classy interior along with the ambience produced by the cello in the background contributed to a pleasant vibe. For appetizers, our family ordered the crab cake, smoked chicken, and ahi tuna. All three were excellent, with the smoked chicken especially standing out as our favorite. The entrees matched the level of the appetizers. Scallops had a nice sear and flavor, filet mignon was cooked as close to medium rare as you can get (which seems to be a lot harder for other restaurants to achieve than expected!), and halibut was opaque, flaky, and served with an excellent sauce. The fluffy blueberry poundcake we had for dessert finished off our meal nicely. It certainly was the best meal we had while visiting Charleston, and would recommend to anyone else who visits the area as well. Please make a reservation at least two weeks in advance.

An old favorite post pandemic and new owner changes
Still a beautiful place with ambience and pleasant guitar playing. Taylor is an outstanding server, so friendly and personable. He accepted my feedback on the abbreviated menu and missing content from the past in a constructive manner. I guess they have limited staff. We didn't find any appetizers we wanted. My wife chose the halibut, but the ham atop it was salty and the sauce lacked flavor. I picked the Colorado lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection just as I requested and the accoutrements were perfect. An outstanding meal(for me, not her). The staff were all welcoming and friendly and recognized our anniversary. They made the overall experience very positive. Even the French press coffee was great. We hope the Grill can staff up and the chef expands and improves the menu offerings.

Think it’s past it’s hay day
I rate this between 3 and 4 stars. The restaurant is slightly past it’s best and needs a face lift. Table clothes were very old looking. Service was good and waiter very nice and efficient. Food was nice but not spectacular. It was all a little stuffy which I don’t mind if it’s up to speed. It wasn’t. Why send us texts telling us to dress appropriately and no flip flops when so many in the restaurant look like they’ve walked in from the beach? Flip flops and shorts an T shirts galore. Felt very over dressed and it just felt stuffy and staid. The waiter was very nice though.

Sets the standard for 4-Star Restaurants
Finally able to have dinner here after many tries on multiple visits to Charleston, and did not disappoint. Everything excellent. Waiter on point, not too smothering, offered suggestions but allowed to make final selections. Started with the Seared Foie Gras, which was cooked perfectly and a much larger portion than expected. Ordered Scallops for the main, and again seared perfectly, could've used a bit more salt but I'm being overly critical. Blueberry Lemon cake for dessert was good, not great and would've been exceptional at any other restaurant had the first 2 courses not been so outstanding. Duo of piano player/standing bass player perfect complement to the evening. Seated close to the bar, and were worried that it might be too noisy, but wasn't a problem at all. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Charleston. Can't wait to dine again.

The pricing and atmosphere gives the impression it should
The pricing and atmosphere gives the impression it should be an easy 5 star experience. Of the 6 or so different dishes my fiancé and I tried, as well as drinks, only one piece really blew us away. The peach burrata was amazing. Everything else was "good". There's better value on nearly every block in Charleston with much better food at a better price. Drinks were fairly average, but we're also moderately priced compared to the food. Having said that, we had a good time. The staff made us feel like a priority (other than the wait time for food). They were a bit much at times, but overall very kind, thoughtful, and inviting. 4/5 experience, but not sure if we'd be back
😍
A huge shout out to the nice and accommodating gentleman
A huge shout out to the nice and accommodating gentleman who was able to squeeze us in for some wine and AMAZING live music. Our server was just as great. Can't wait to be back to try the food.

We had our wedding anniversary dinner at the Charleston Grill and we ended having more the we had expected. The ambiance and welcoming of the hostess at the restaurant were very friendly the choice of the background music very enchanting but the FOOD of chez Michelle Weaver took the crown, I am not going to mention what I ate for the purpose of not discriminating the other dishes but the presentation was great and the taste was awesome it woke up taste buds that I didn’t know I had them, we enjoyed every single bite . The night was spectacular . Chef Michelle.. shall I compare these to a summer’s day! Felicitations !
We loved the Charleston Grill. The setting is lovely, the food delicious, and the staff is on top of their game. We started with the chilled asparagus soup, which was mouth watering. Our entree was the lamb (we are often sharers). It was a perfect mid rare, and the mint sauce was just right. It provided a little umph without overpowering the very tender lamb.. We will definitely be back when we are in the area.
😍
Outstanding restaurant!
Charleston Grill is a very special, elegant restaurant with primo staff and excellent food. They are the total package. We dined there twice while in Charleston and loved every moment and every bite. Delia S was our fantastic server both nights. She was a total delight and totally added to the enjoyment of our meals. The ambiance was beautiful and relaxing with soft piano music, which we enoyed. Their crab cake Is the best anywhere around, absolutely devine! We shared a crab cake the first night, the second night we each ordered one, no way sharing again. The first and second night I ordered the scallops, melt in my mouth wonderful. He ordered the halibut both nights and raved about it both it. The food, service, ambiance -everything came together for two delightful meals. Many thanks to Delia S for her quick wit and charming manner, she really added to the overall enjoyment of our meals! You go girl! This restaurant sets itself apart in all aspects of dining, the total package. We look forward to another visit to Charleston and Charleston Grill will be our go to place again. I HIGHLY recommend Charleston Grill. Don't miss it.

Favorite restaurant in Charleston and probably top 5 in the
Favorite restaurant in Charleston and probably top 5 in the country. Ambiance was perfect very elevated yet not stuffy. All of the staff was outstanding. Great extensive wine list and the food was beyond amazing. Cannot go to charleston without coming here.

We eat out all over the world, from hole in the walls to 3
We eat out all over the world, from hole in the walls to 3 star Michelin restaurants. Charleston Grill is by far the restaurant with the most impeccable service I've ever experienced. We drove in from Atlanta and were tired and had only 45 minutes to check in and make it to our reservation downstairs. Our children (age 2 & 5) were tired and stir crazy and had had it. But they were so wonderful with them both (and my son is a handful). The food was amazing as well, and their adorable children's menu is by far the best children's menu I've ever seen! They deserve much more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A new menu but still excellentey! I simply love the food
A new menu but still excellentey! I simply love the food here. The restaurant is peaceful, has excellent, respectful service, and is just one of the finest places to dine in Charleston. The food is beautifully presented and just exquisite. The bread basket varies and is hand served. Today the choice was rosemary focaccia, sourdough, rye and cornbread, served with butte with lava salt.I had the foie gras, which was served with a strawberry jam. I am blown away at the how the delicate flavors meld into one another. My main entree was the prime beef tenderloin, cooked to medium, served with potatoes that had a smoked flavor, with a sprinkling of foie gras (yes, again!) You can knock me over with a feather. Just wow! I can't say enough about this place. It's the finest of fine dining!
We had a fantastic meal at Charleston Grill. We were visiting from New York and were so impressed with this restaurant. Our servers were lovely-made us feel so special. We had scallops that were wonderful. There's background live music which adds to the fantastic experience. This is a very special place!!
🙂
We recently enjoyed a meal at Charleston Grill.
Breakdown:AppsRoasted Cauliflower and Broccolini--skippable. It was fine but nothing specialCrab Cake--absolutely excellent. Basically just a couple chunks of crab more than anything else.DinnerSweet Potato Gnocchi--this was excellent. Surprise of the meal. We somewhat threw this in on the end just to try it out, but it was very good.Spring Veg and Lemon Risotto--it was fine, nothing to write home about. Scallops--Good. too much truffle for me, but I'm not a huge fan of that flavor to begin with anyhow, so I think that is more about personal preference.DrinksBartender made top notch drinks. A french 75 and an aviation, both were in the top 5 we've had of each specific order. Honestly we may go back just for drinks another time as they were really wonderful. Well done!!AmbianceKind of a neat place tucked away down a hallway that otherwise you would just walk right past. There was live music, they were wrapping up when we arrived so I can't say too much about it.ServiceService was attentive and helpful. At times a little overbearing as we were enjoying a long and slow meal, but I understand how that can be taxing for a server, especially near the end of the night.

Dinner Sunday 3rd April 2022
The Charleston Grill is a fanatic restaurant. The moment you arrive you are made welcome, whether it’s your first or hundred and first visit.
From booking to table service, we had exceptional service from all staff. The waitstaff were incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. We had crab cakes and the rack of lamb, both of which were wonderful.
We could not fault this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.
