One of my all time favorite Resturants in Yountville.
I love the variety change of the menu. Every meal we've had has been perfect. The staff is so nice and attentive. We look forward to coming here at least twice a month after playing golf. You can't get a better value in Yountville! I highly recommend doing the wine pairing as it does provide a more rounded foodie experience.

Food here is absolutely awesome!! Got a last minute
Food here is absolutely awesome!! Got a last minute reservation for late lunch on a Sunday. $45 for 3-course meal....best of all, they offered their famous fried chicken as a add-on that day which was what we really wanted! Everything was excellent!! The mixed green salad was amazing....even my husband was raving about it, and that's coming from someone who don't usually enjoy salads! The smoked beef brisket hash with eggs and potatoes was delicious, and the chocolate pudding with cherry sauce and fresh cookie crumbles and whipped cream for dessert? WOW! Everything (except dessert) was served family style which was nice. The outdoor patio seating is dog-friendly. Service from the friendly wait staff was great, always checking in and making sure we were good.Reservations are booked a month in advance and is "sold out" quickly, but check back often for cancellations. We can't wait to go back!

Our first evening in Yountville
We had an excellent experience at this novel Chef Keller restaurant, where they provide a daily family style menu everyday. There are things that you can add to the evening menu, which we did not choose to do, but we had a wonderful roast chicken that was done beautifully. The service was great and we had a wonderful first night in Yountville.
If you do not mind paying to hear persistent shrill screaming child(ren) followed by his/her mother laughing while you are eating a pricey meal, then go to this restaurant, by all means. The food is delicious.
I was so excited to visit Ad Hoc, but the experience was somewhat disappointing. The salad appetiser was pleasant enough, fresh and well dressed but the rest of the menu was underwhelming. The cheese course lacked flavour and the dessert was mediocre at best. However the short rib was truly awful. It was served on a Spanish rice which was very over cooked and resembled oatmeal and the peppers were so overpoweringly hot that we could taste little else afterward. I have no idea why a huge portion of these were served with the rib. I like dishes with heat but this was completely the wrong vegetable side. We hope our comments to our server were relayed to the chef but given his lack of interest I doubt it.
🤮
Worst experience at Ad Hoc.
i live in the SF Bay Area and go to Ad Hoc several times a year. Usually i get good service at the restaurant but last Saturday was the exception. I had to wait 30 minutes between the main course and the cheese course. They checked on the order only when I asked about the next course, The senior server(I think the person was) blamed it on someone who is new but shouldn't someone be checking on the table and notice nothing is served for over 30 minutes? There were a lot of employees. I started talking to the manager about the incident but he did not seem interested in listening to me and just walked away after placing the table setting on the next table. Never came to find out what I wanted to tell him. I also asked about the deep fried olive, whether it should be warm or cold. The server said she will check with the kitchen but I never heard from the server. It looked like there were a lot of new employees but they should be properly trained. I did not see any sincerity and everyone was just going through the motion. I probably will not return to this restaurant, at least for a while. There are a lot of restaurants there. The service was bad top down on 7/16.

We were in the area and spontaneously walked-in and asked
We were in the area and spontaneously walked-in and asked if any open bar seating available. To our luck there was-- Normally, like many restaurants in Yountville , reservations are highly recommended. Vince the Bartender was attentive and concocted margaritas and martinis for our thirsty souls . We didn't order food and we didn't feel pressured to have to order. But must say the daily fix-meal-menu was very nice; Bussers/Servers passing by with the beautifully plated foods almost tempted us to fill our already full belly (from sister restaurant BOUCHON BISTRO Bastille Day Celebrations). Friendly staff, Catherine and Robert, not hesitant to spark conversations , and down-to-earth restaurant decorum made it easy to relax and just enjoy drinks. Definitely will go back for those lobster Mac & Cheese and Fried Chicken!

This place makes itself special and prestigious because you have no idea what will be served until that day. So that is a cool way to draw people in, but for us having lived in the Bay Area for along time, and very familiar with TK restaurants, we just wanted something chill and cool. And it was. Except for the part where they forgot we are all humans just eating food and they are not a god. And they should have acknowledged when there was a huge mistake. And of course, that did not happen. We had a reservation for outside, which was very cool. Our first course was a kale caesar and it was so good! And then we had the halibut. It was seared with vegetables. It was amazing, except they forgot to debone the fish. So at one point, I was literally choking on fish bones--two waiters saw me and did not come over right away. When they did I mentioned the fish had not been deboned. I understand that a couple of bones could be okay, but this was like at least 15 fish bones I was picking out of my fish. I asked for another version. We got more fish and a couple of glasses of wine (comp'd), but no actual apology for the fact that I was choking on fish bones or an actual acknowledgment of the mistake. Dessert was sundaes with different sauces, as pedestrian as it gets, but I suppose here I'm supposed to say it was the best thing ever? TK owns Yountville and he has definitely protected and keeps providing many jobs. I do appreciate that, but I am not sure how long we are supposed to keep paying these prices when everything else is not quite right.

We didnt have a reservation so we walked in around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and was told they are strictly by reservation only but we can wait if it is ok if we sit at the bar. We waited 40mins and got seated at the bar. Our bar server, Robert/Bobby was wonderful. He explained that they have a diff fixed menu everyday and have chicken and waffles every other Sunday for brunch. If you sit at the bar, you have the option to not order the whole menu and do ala carte for any of the menu items. We did the ala carte for 2 for each of the menu item to try since we have never been here - romaine salad, chicken and waffle, oatmeal muffin. The couple next to us only ordered the chicken and waffle ala carte. I really enjoyed the fried chicken and would definitely be back for this. It reminded me of country style fried chicken! The waffle was also tasty - it reminded me of sour cream and onion lays chips. LOLThank you Robert for your wonderful service.
Worth every penny. Fried chicken, mac n cheese, shrimp toast, grilled romaine caesar .... to die for. Great wine selection and cocktails.

IMHOCame here for Sunday Brunch ($45 pre-fixe) and was hoping that we could add an order of fried chicken. Alas, we could not. However, our brunch of Melon salad, Brisket hash, an add-on of Lobster Eggs Benedict ($32) and Carrot cake were delicious! You can also add-on some Regiis Ova Caviar for an additional $60/$100, which we did not. We started with the ad hoc Bloody Mary and Mimosa, an add-on for $15 each. The perfect start to our meal. The Melon salad was so cool and refreshing, the melons firm and sweet! The brisket was super tender and moist, and very flavorful. The roasted red potatoes were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! The scrambled eggs were oh-so-velvety and almost melted in my mouth! Probably the best scrambled eggs I've ever eaten! My husband loved his Lobster Eggs benedict. I opted for one bite (I'm not a shellfish eater), and it was yummy! Hubby said there was enough pieces of lobster to satisfy him. Service was impeccable and available, but not intrusive. Will we return? You bet!!!
😍
We literally live almost next door to Ad Hoc.
Great service & of course wonderful food!!
Fried chicken is a huge disappointment! Not meeting the reputation at all. Don't come. Most tables couldn't finish the chicken. It tells you how bad it is. Plus, they double charged the wine we ordered.

Had dinner here with friends. It was fixed price, fixed menu. The service was excellent. The food was served family style and it was very tasty. Unfortunately it was so loud that it was hard to enjoy the meal.

Overall I'm happy I finally tried it -
I've wanted to try this place for years and I'm happy to have finally had the chance to eat dinner here this past Saturday night. I wished that they had had the fried chicken, but alas they didnt, so we of course went with the menu they had. And it was overall good!! A delicious wedge salad, the extra shrimp cocktail, delicious short rib, gouda, and a nice dessert. We were stuffed when we left. Service was good, cocktails good, and nice selection of wines. I was overall happy with my experience and would recommend it for others. Next time I'd like to try the chicken, so I'll try to find a date when they're serving it.

Long wait for a dinner that didn't live up to the hype
We were eager to try out Ad Hoc, another restaurant that had been highly recommended to us. We had a 7 pm reservation, but had to wait outside till almost 8 pm to be seated. (A one hour wait is in itself not acceptable considering that we had made reservations in advance, but it was especially excruciating because it was a very cold night!). The portions were very generous (we could barely enjoy dessert because we were so full), our server, Remy, was excellent. But the fried chicken was not really a big deal. Don't get me wrong--- dinner was very good. But because of the hype and its high prices (it was just chicken, after all, and not prime rib), I had very high expectations that were ultimately not filled.

Exceptional beef brisket

The beef brisket and potato salad were both wonderful. The beef was slow cooked (20 hours according to the waitress) and unbelievably tender and good tasting. I would go back there in a second. And the $58 price tag was astonishing for a meal of that quality. Of course there was no choice--you get what they cooked for the day. Although we loved the meal, we loved Valette more--at 3 times the price. I was disappointed though that there was no outdoor seating. And the town it is in is seriously boring. We had so much more fun walking around in Calistoga and Healdsburg. Yountville has a plastic feel--as if it was transplanted from a Disney movie.

One of our favorite Napa stops
We’ve been here multiple times and love it every time. The food is great, the service is wonderful, the atmosphere is perfect! I love coming to places like this with set menus. I find I try things I never would have ordered on my own, some I love and some I’m just glad I tried. I love AdHoc for the entire dining experience.
First trip to Napa, booked reservation months in advance with great expectations. Service was exceptional, food was good, we were looking for a Thomas Keller experience and did not expect chicken aka king to be it….almost $400 later for three people very disappointing…hopefully Bouchon Bistro is better…
One for each of the hairs found in our food...We went for early dinner on March 12.Ordered the scallops starter which were super salty. We did not eat them.Roasted chicken thighs were on the menu that day. We enjoyed them, until my wife found a thick Black hair (with follicle) on the piece she just picked up from the serving plate. OK, happens. We called the server and brought it to his attention. He picked up the hair and examined it, and once established that it was indeed a curly black hair that could only come from a beard or... (you know where else) offered to re-make our dish. By that point, we were more than halfway done with it so we declined. The dessert cheese plate came next, where on one of the cheese pieces we found... You guessed it; Another hair! Gross!!!We called the server again and brought it up to his attention. He was being kind of defensive and said things like "This has never happened before" and "That's a weird coincidence to find two hairs in two dishes" almost making us feel like assholes that "plant" hairs in their food.My wife who has worked in high end restaurant kitchens in the past told the waiter that they should really check what's going on in the back, and if someone has a beard they should wear beard guards as per health department regulations. The server assured us that there is no one with a beard in the back, and if there is someone with a beard they do wear beard guards. We ordered coffee (which was super bitter) and dessert and asked for the check. The server was "kind" enough to comp us the horrible coffee and also took off the chicken liver toast we ordered as a supplement starter. Our car happened to be parked in the back, right in front of the back door which has a big window that allows you to look straight into the kitchen. As we were getting into the car, we counted not one, not two, not three... but FIVE guys with beards working in the kitchen, including the guy expediting the dishes who had a thick long beard.Mind you, the server just assured us a few minutes prior that NO ONE in the back has a beard, and if they do they all wear beard guard. Total lie obviously!Bottom line, don't make your customers feel like assholes when you are at fault. Also, when something is wrong with a dish, and you want to take something off the bill, you take off THAT dish, not a cheaper alternative...Will not be returning to this place.
🤮
did they run out of butter?
This was my 3rd visit for Ad Hoc and prob 20th visit to a Keller establishment, to say I am familiar and obsessed with everything he has ever made is an understatement.
He has made me fall in love with ingredients that I refuse to try like salmon, leeks, green tea, cloudy mash potatoes...list goes on
this trip very diff.
Salad - We had a Meyer Lemon Salad the night before so this was the 2nd Meyer lemon salad for The Weeknd. Ad hoc version was overdressed to the point that our teeth were cringing. We had to send it back and even then it wasn't remarkable, strike 1
Main Course - Crispy Chicken skin thighs <- very crispy and dry and w fennels which were just blahhh. nothing to rem. My husband literally asked me to eat his share. I wish they took a note from their fried chicken recipe
Cheese Course - Honey, Brie and Almonds. things I prob can pull out of my fridge this min. Last trip we had a thoughtful collection of diff cheeses, fruits and crackers things I wouldn't have access in a 1000 yr in whole foods. this was super off the shelf.
FINALLY chocolate cake <- Thats it. we both ate half and with our disappointment so far in the meal just walked away. I rem a yummy dessert w bon bon on our last visit. but this was something I prob could have to-go from Bouchon or Paris baguette, prob something more decadent.
I dont know what happened but it kinda ruined our anniversary dinner.
service was 5STARS and they really took care of us like always..
But something was up with the kitchen and we both have been pushing the leftover on to the other & yeah def didnt get the add on because from the getgo we were so taken back.
😍
Absolutely spectacular food at no frills atmosphere.
The service was solid throughout. Our bartender, Vincent, was helpful with the menu (add on options) and drink choices! The most famous signature fried chicken was the best, and the pork was just so-so.The cheese plate was disappointingly shabby. Their bread was nice to say they came from Bouchon Bakery, a famous Napa bakery. We were absolutely stuffed when we left. Will be back next time we visit Napa!!!

We were there on Saturday.

The entrees (braised beef) and chicken were excellent. One star for each entree... unfortunately the salad was not impressive, the sheep cheese was difficult to eat since it was so salty without a toast or cracker. Although the grape was good. The dessert was sad and disappointing...It tasted like dry leftover Christmas fruit cake. This was my second time at Ad Hoc and wished it was a better experience.
😍
We came here for lunch before we started wine tasting.
What a great start for our day! Meals were served family style so we weren't really sure what portions would be like for 2 of us. *Minestrone soup (starter) it's a big bowl of soup, tasty. It could be a meal of its own. *Grilled tri-tip just melts in your mouth. Seasoned well and so tender. *Garlic polenta (side) delicious, but I love polenta. So if your a fan you will love it. My husband doesn't eat polenta :/*Broccolini (side) was good we both finished it*Fried chicken (add on) we weren't sure to get it... too much food but we're so happy we did! It was delicious. It was moist inside and crisp on the outside. My husband said the breast was a little dry compared to the dark meat. *lemon ricotta cake slice, the perfect amount of sweet to end our meal.We had great attentive service and the food was delicious. We would definitely return.

LOVE this place! Yes, it's crazy difficult to get a reservation (according to someone else who is not me who made the reservation) but so worth it!! It's a set menu but fortunately everything is phenomenal. We had a salad, teriyaki chicken, got the walnut shrimp supplement, and yum dessert. Definitely come with an appetite!!

I cannot describe the wonderful time we had last night at
I cannot describe the wonderful time we had last night at Ad Hoc. Our first time here, we arrived with two small children in tow, and everyone was so kind to us. We had the additions, including the caviar. A delicious green salad with smoked chicken, the truffle Mac and cheese, fresh veggies, and to die for pork chops. Leftovers were just as good the next day
🙂
We made reservations like a month prior.
I'm so glad I'd made them for indoors because this night was chilly for sure. They did have heaters outside though. It is a pre-set 4 course menu, family style. I was incredibly disappointed that we could not add-on the famous fried chicken I'd heard so much about. Our waitress was kind and let me down gently. She let us know that they only serve it during lunch time on Mon & Fri. sad. The QR scanner for drinks did not work for my husband and I so we couldn't see their drink menu. I asked if they had a hardcopy menu but waitress said no. I told her about the QR not working for us and she pulled it up on her phone but also, I don't know if she just wanted to keep a distance but she was suggesting stuff off the menu to me and asking what I liked. It just seemed complicated so I just ordered 2 iced teas. 1st- course was a Garden kale salad with 2 croutons. lol. The parmesan salad dressing was delicious, and I found a new love for kale. 2nd-course, Santa Maria grilled Tri-tip, potato darphin, and roasted brussels sprouts. The darphin was like a potato patty shaped into a mini Rubik's cube. Our tri-tip came out and looked delicious but it was at room temp :( and I hesitated about sending it back but I did. Our waitress apologized and took it away. While we were waiting, a gentleman in a suit came up to our table (I think the manager) and he said they'd be bringing out a new one for us. He asked if we were celebrating anything and I said, my husband's birthday. he could get us anything, we said no thanks. We just wanted our food. Then this guy came over to us, almost running with this new tray of tri-tip. The portions looked a LOT bigger than the last one we had and it was much better. They also brought us another serving of the potato darphin AND more brussel sprouts. I was shocked. That to me, is a sign of really great service and they care about their customers. 3rd course, Estero Gold Cheese! it came with a rhubarb sauce and toasted marcona almonds. The cheese reminded me of a parmesan. The sauce was sweet and complimented the cheese and the almonds well. SO GOOD! 4th course. Chocolate tart with chocolate sauce, pistachio mousse, and pistachio crumbl. I'm not a big chocolate person but this was absolutely divine and so happy that we each got one, and didn't have to share :) I'm still dreaming about this chocolate tart and hope we meet again. The table next to us a few feet over was ahead of us in the dinner and were celebrating a birthday, per the candle on their chocolate tart. Our waitress was also their waitress and she brought them some packaged cookies. The couple had a surprised reaction, followed by happiness so that told me that it was likely a gift for the birthday person. At the end of our dinner, I asked her if the cookies were part of the dinner. She said no. I then told her "Oh, because it's also my husband's birthday and I noticed you brought them cookies" I should've said to her at the beginning that we were celebrating a birthday but she also didn't ask us if we were celebrating anything. She brought us some cookies though for both of us. She apologized and said had she known it was my husband's birthday, she would've brought a candle for him too. I said, Oh well I told the manager guy when he came over and I just thought he would've told you.Lesson learned, never assume. Overall, I would come back again and hope to try their fried chicken and maybe a cocktail, if the QR works for me.
😍
Come hungry! We ordered for two and had enough food to feed
Come hungry! We ordered for two and had enough food to feed an entire family. The menu is prix fixe with the chicken as an add-on on the Sunday we went. Delicious food, the chicken is spicy and the ribs fall off the bone. Yum! The butterscotch's sauce for the sundae was amazing!
🤮

The food was horrible - beef stew was salty and looked like dog food. Very overpriced and NO selections. No ambiance sterile and the waiter sucked and they were cleaning up as we were eating. Totally in unprofessional - wish I could get my money back.

This restaurant NEVER picks up their phone, whether it's to ask a question or change an online pick up order. I have no idea what their food tastes like because their customer service is already terrible!

Despite a strong start, with the caviar add-on and roasted
Despite a strong start, with the caviar add-on and roasted chicken, the meal torpedoed from there with a dry lamb, inedible plastic-like cheese course and a overthought cheesecake drowning in a piña colada jam. In addition, the bartender couldn't create a worse cocktail than the grapefruit mezcal paloma which was so terrible we didn't have more than one sip and the service was so lackluster that the waiter didn't even notice that it was untouched. The entourage of waitstaff was unable to pace the meal properly, leaving us feeling forgotten between most courses and then rudely rushed as the check was delivered with the dessert. All in all, a less than mediocre meal for what is expected to be at least a serviceable standby.
