Cochon Restaurant New Orleans Reviews from The Last Year
Good food but a bit noisy
We had really good food and great service at this restaurant. However, be prepared that the room is quite noisy, so it is difficult to hear each other.
Used Resy to book this reservation on short notice.
Fairly busy. We were seated within three minutes of the reservation time. The servers were great and the signature cocktails were nicely prepared. The alcohol content complemented each drink. We had the pork belly, alligator, wood-fired oysters, catfish with popcorn rice, and wood-fired gulf fish. The sauce for the oysters were pretty phenomenonal. Could probably be used in a pasta or side sauce for another seafood item. My only complaint is the gulf fish. The scales were not removed which made the skil inedible. Other than that, it was a good dining experience.
Tasty food and pretty quick service.
I had the Louisiana Cochon which tasted like a bbq pulled pork and a side of mac and cheese. The Cochon was good but I had to put hot sauce on it because alone it tasted like something was missing. The mac and cheese was decent. I also had the pineapple upside down cake and that was ... I would come back just for that dessert. I also had a couple of drinks. Meh...could've been stronger for the price. 4 stars because the food was good. It would have been 5 stars if the portions were equal to the prices and if they had all the items on their menu. They ran out of many main dishes by 7:30pm. Overall it was pretty good though.
I swung by for a late lunch and it was pretty much empty
I swung by for a late lunch and it was pretty much empty which was nice. Allowed for great service! The food was great, I ordered the fire oven fish. It was excellent and the side of cream grits was top notch. I'd recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
Pretty good.
Cute atmosphere, unusually loud when at capacity. Waiter was very quiet and stood behind us while trying to talk, which made it difficult to hear him.
Amazing service and food! Everything was so good but
Amazing service and food! Everything was so good but especially the oysters! We had to order two rounds of it! Highly recommend coming here for an elevated dinner! Make reservations!
Rabbit stew and bourbon works! Also had fried alligator
Rabbit stew and bourbon works! Also had fried alligator with mint leaves, two things I would never put together
I've visited this restaurant for about 8yrs and i believe
I've visited this restaurant for about 8yrs and i believe they must've changed managers and cooks. The food was extra salty, the service sucked! The food sucked! Will never return nor recommend. So dissapoonting this was my fav. Restaurant.
Delicious food, creative presentation, Nice vibe, friendly
Delicious food, creative presentation, Nice vibe, friendly service. Very popular. Sat at the bar and chattered with server and other patrons. Waiting on upside down pineapple cake which is a. House specialty, I'm sure it will be delicious too
I visited New Orleans recently, so I had to figure out what
I visited New Orleans recently, so I had to figure out what the best restaurants in town were. Coincidentally, I discovered that both Cochon and the associated Cochon Butcher were both loved and admired around town. So I went to both! I came here for lunch on day two of my trip, and I was very satisfied with everything. The ambiance was both upscale and super chill and comforting at the same time. I feel like I could eat a baked Alaska in that environment, but I could also just eat a BLT in that environment. Very pleasing. As for the service, it was also good. Nice, friendly guy, was quick to tease out the details of each dish, with such a small, tight menu. Helped us make our decisions. We started off with the free, freshly baked rolls with some nice, room temperature butter, for easier spreading. Warm, soft, a lovely way to feed our appetite before the main events came out. I got the catfish courtbouillon & popcorn rice. This dish was reminiscent of an etoufee. Amazingly tender catfish filets sitting in a pool of very fragrant broth and lusciously cooked veggies. Topped with some fun looking popcorn rice, whatever that is. A nice dish that's very elevated New Orleans. I was a fan. I also got to try another amazing dish, the rabbit & dumplings. This thing was amazing. Think rabbit pot pie in a cast iron skillet, but the top crust is a bunch of drop dumplings. Uh, wow. Again, meat and veggies cooked perfectly. The dumplings were cooked juuust to the point of being brown and crisp on the outside, looking like biscuits. Everything came together beautifully, and this was honestly one of the best dishes from my whole trip! Get this. As for dessert, we got the Pineapple Upside Down Cake (cherry lime sorbet & ginger crumble, caramel). This was nice. warm cake with very small, manageable pieces of pineapple on top. It was an interesting pairing with the limey sorbet and the ginger crumble. I'm sure that hits right on someone's palate. Overall, this was a banger. Just as good as it's Butcher sibling at delivering what it was promising. A memorable experience, and I hope to return one day!
Read lots of great things about this place prior to coming
Read lots of great things about this place prior to coming to New Orleans, and really wanted to come eat here. Was excited that it was only a couple blocks from my hotel, and decided to just try my luck without a reservation. Ended up sitting at the bar with a couple of friends, which turned out to be an amazing experience. The service was exceptional, and the food was fantastic. I had the Fried Alligator, the Wood Fired Oysters, and the Peach Crisp; and would highly recommend all of it. I also really enjoyed the Golden Stout that I got to drink. If you're in New Orleans, this restaurant should definitely be on your list of must eat at places.
Where do I begin.
Simply outstanding. Was in town for a tradeshow and it was a quick walk from The convention center. Don't be overwhelmed by the line, it went quick!! The sandwiches were outstanding!!!
Must visit in New Orleans!
There are not enough words to express how wonderful this spot was! Everything from the decor to the service to the food was incredible. This is a "can't miss" spot. The gator bites are incredible, packing just enough kick to make for a spicy savory bite. I had the catfish, which was perfect for a hot day. It was light and fresh and not too filling. My husband had the rabbit and dumplings which, while heavy, was still excellent. My advice is to save some of the delicious bread to absorb that gravy!
No B.S, just great food with no frills.
This place is a vegan nightmare. Great, well cooked meat and seafood. Yes, I said great. Cochon au last that makes culinary history. If you like meat, this is heaven.
Get the pudding dessert!
The pudding dessert is worth a visit on it's own! Excellent service and wonderful food. Creative and memorable presentation.
Not worth rave or ‘top 20’ standings, just good eats
We were seated promptly (but not right away, despite being 15 min. early) 6 p.m. is a whole nother story to when we left at 7 (many waiting). Our hostess acknowledged this was our anniversary, which I appreciated. The waiter (201 T) was efficient and pleasant. Husband had Shrimp Stew and glass of Riesling, I the Cochon and a beer. Both were very good (not AMAZING, but tasty albeit a tad salty). Total w/ tip was $88. Nice experience but not a ‘rave’ as I was expecting, what w/ the crowds on a Wed. night.
Phenomenal
Best meal in NOLA so far. The gumbo was the best I’ve ever had! The brisket and grits amazing. The pineapple upside down cake was sublime. Service excellent. Run, don’t walk to Cochon you will not be disappointed.
Great food, but worst front desk ever
Went here on 23 December and waited for 45 minutes at the front desk DESPITE HAVING A RESERVATION, only to be shown to a table in the back section amidst a lot of other empty tables. In short: the worst front desk service ever. Having said that, the food was stunningly good, so we told the front desk gals when we left that the kitchen redeemed them. They were oblivious.
Absolute Highlight of my Trip to New Orleans!
I had the pleasure of eating dinner at Cochon two times during my recent stay in New Orleans. When I ate there with colleagues on my first night in town (22 March), the food and service were so extraordinary that I chose to return solo on my last night (26 March). The first night, I sipped a flavorful Mandem cocktail, sampled the fried alligator, and savored a steaming skillet of Rabbit and Dumplings...all of which were just WOW! Our waiter and server (Jim and Nick H.) were knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the menu. I learned that the alligator at Cochon is not as chewy as alligator in other places, because it comes from a neck loin. Good to know! I also learned that the rabbit is one of the most hearty (most popular) items on the menu. A couple days later, I returned and sat alone at the bar on my last night in town. This time, I didn't have to share my fried alligator with anyone else, and it was glorious! I paired that delight with a gorgeous, radish-laden salad and a skillet of savory macaroni and cheese! While there, the staff behind the bar (Jason, Mike, and Wyatt) made me feel very comfortable, and I was able to observe how much pride the staff has for the menu. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely return! It was an absolute highlight of my trip!
Great tasting spot
Loved the bite sized share plates, the Alligator was fantastic, the rolls were perfect and the overall ambiance and service were lovely.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
