I took a group here for my birthday and everyone couldn't stop talking about their meal for the rest of the weekend. I had the Pappardelle al cinghiale. I was nervous to order it because I wasn't sure I would like the wild boar.... But it was fantastic. I am obsessed with this restaurant. They had the best espresso martini, to my husband horror I proposed to the bartender after my first sip. We come to Paso for my birthday every year, I can't wait to be back. I will be dreaming of this delicious meal in the meantime.
🙂
This restaurant has a great atmosphere.
The service is good and the food is good. I would eat here again. Here are some things I think they should fix. The servers stand in the back. It almost seems like Gestapo-ish. It is a little uncomfortable. Five different people came to our table to help us with things during the first 20 minutes of our stay. This is unusual and it was annoying. This was not about being attentive and trying to take care of our needs, it was pushy. Our waiter was very good. However, he came to our table 3 or four times to try to get us to order. It was like they were trying to push us through so they could seat other guests. It seem to be a rushed process. That is not something I like when I'm spending several hundred dollars on a dinner. They have a very extensive wine selection, which is a plus. We ordered a ribeye with a side of Risotto to be served with her dinner, but it was brought out with a side salad that we ordered as well. They did bring out a new risotto that was hot with dinner upon our request. The ribeye was way over salted, but was cooked properly. The fillet was stated in the menu as a fillet. But what was served was to petite fillets. The quality of the meat was fatty. It did not taste like a high quality of meat. It was cooked properly. I think the servers are trying to be over attentive, and they need to let their diners sit for a moment. They did not read body language or the clues we were giving them.

Italian cuisine in the down town district of Paso Robles. A small intimate dining experience.
I started with the caprese salad, the tomatoes and mozzarella were very good with a delicious aged vinegar dressing. My husband had the Octopus which was good ( but not the best he has had). I then ordered a 1/2 order of fettuccine with black truffles which was outstanding! I had the Sea Bass special of the day. The presentation was beautiful but it tasted very fishy. ( For the special you would think it would be fresher) My husband ordered the Veal Chop which I tasted and both of us agreed it was good but had better ones elsewhere. It was grisly and the we felt this was a choice cut instead of a prime cut. My husband ordered the custard fruit tart and I order the tiramisu both were excellent. On the internet it said wine corkage was $20 they charged us $25. The waiter and over all service was fantastic. The have an outdoor patio which would be nice on a warm evening. I would go back but was a bit disappointed for it being a one star Michelin.

Great Italian food! We liked it so much and wanted to try more of the menu, that we made a reservation for the following night! The first night, we had the veal chop and the spaghetti alla bottarga. Both were excellent. We dove in so fast that I couldn't get photos! The second night, we had the caprese salad, pappardelle al cinghiale, and grilled octopus. And finished with tiramisu. The octopus tips were crispy and some of the best we have ever eaten. The hubs thought it was the best tiramisu he's ever eaten. The service here is very warm and friendly. We will definitely return here.

The food was great, and the wine list is decent and features some little-known local gems. Our service was awful. I have never felt so unwelcome anywhere in my life, and our server could not have been less friendly or accommodating. $800 for five people on a quiet night, and we would have ordered another bottle of wine if we had wanted to stay a minute longer.

I'm not a religious person, but I must confess that eating the spaghetti alla bottarga was a divine experience. I also can't say enough how incredibly warm the service staff were. I cannot wait to return!!

I had dinner here for my birthday with my boyfriend.
The service was excellent! They were very helpful in pairing the right food with our wine selection. And the food was the highlight as well. The ambiance is also charming and intimate. Perfect for a lovely date.

Horrible!!!! I ordered a $52 filet that had no flavor or seasoning. Just a hunk of flavorless meat. The Waitress asked how I liked it and I responded it was lacking flavor. Her comment to me was that I was hard to please. That is a fair comment, but I am a foodie, and I know good food when I have it! As well as good service which this was not!
Great food, service was top notch. It’s a must when in Paso Robles. We booked several weeks in advance. Don’t wait!

Outstanding Dining Experience at Il Cortile Ristorante in Paso Robles
Il Cortile Ristorante in Paso Robles is a must-visit for exceptional dining. Grilled Octopus, Crostini con Burrata, and Ossobuco were outstanding. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We can't wait to come back!

I have always heard great things, but I am a last minute
I have always heard great things, but I am a last minute dinner out person so they always were booked or only had late seating left by the time I was looking. I happened to be enjoying a jazz show early in the evening and was able to book a later dinner seating. I am so glad I finally was able to try this place. My wife and I were instantly greeted by our server, who made sure to ask if we were celebrating anything. We opted out of an appitizer due to eating a little at the jazz show, but we ordered directly off the specials he mentioned. I got the Oso Bucco with Risotto. It was to die for. We even had a guest at the table next to us see it and wish they got it. My wife had the Sea Bass and a side of Risotto. The portion of the Sea Bass was good, but it came with only a few veggies. We were very glad we ordered the Risotto to go with it. I am eager to go back and try more food from their menu. We opted out of drinks as I am pregnant, but if they are anything like their sister restaurant, we know they are amazing. Not as pricey as I was expecting. Still about $100 for two entrees and a side, but we did order off the specials. All-in-all, I look forward to our next visit.

Loved every bite of our dinner as well as a nice Boyle of L'Aventure Rose. Really amazing food. Felt like being on vacation in Italy.

Such a charming place and the food was beautiful.
It was an unexpected twist on traditional ideas. Corkage fee was super reasonable and the servers were so responsive and kind. Everything about this place was divine.

Awesome Dining Experience
We had made a previous reservation. We were seated upon arrival. Waitress greeted us right away and took our drink order. Drinks arrived in short order. Ordered appetizers and our entrees. Appetizers came followed shortly by our dinners. Perfect timing. Meals were well proportioned and delicious. Will definitely eat there again.

Outstanding restaurant in Paso Robles
Il Cortile deserves its ranking as the best restaurant in Paso Robles. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We sat on the patio that was enclosed to make it more comfortable in the cold evening. Everything we had was first class. We'll be sure to return as soon as possible.
Exceptional food with very accommodating excellent service. Our party shared delicious white truffle risotto and stuffed squash blossom appetizers. The meat, seafood, and pasta dishes were all terrific. I love trying new restaurants, but I look forward to returning here
This lovely and quaint restaurant lives up to it's number one rating on Trip Advisor! The food and service were impeccable. The scallop appetizer was delicious and so interesting with its three dipping sauces. The osso buco was delicious as well. Even the bread was delectable! I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Nice Italian restaurant
We ate outside which was nice. The décor inside is pleasant. Food was good and the service excellent.
WE always try to sit at the bar since we get to chat with the bartender and enjoy the whole evening. Make sure you ask for Krystal. WE had the Salmon and fresh Corn Ravioli. Both dishes were cooked and served in perfection. Juicy Salmon with lots of fresh flavor and the Ravioli's like nothing I ever had before. Really many cudo's to the chef for this very creative dish. Excellent seating and formal white table cloths. Just perfect! Cheers

Excellent food, atmosphere and service!Came up to Paso Robles for my anniversary and saw this place was local and had great reviews which was well earned. Their wine selection was delicious as well.

Sorry but im not sure what the hype is with this place.
My $50 ribeye was awful akd had better steaks at an outback steakhouse chain. We ordered scallops for appetizer and got 3 pieces of scallop. My wife didnt enjoy her sea bass either. The only good thing was the waitress taking off the charge for the appetizer. She asked me how my steak was and i replied "you want the truth". Said it is awful. She offered to replace it and told her its fine ill just eat it as i already consumed a good portion of it. She then took off the charge for the appetizer. She didnt have to do that nor did i expect her to do so. However it is the only reason im giving this place a 2 star
😍
Two consecutive nights.one birthday celebration and the next an anniversary.
We brought balloons to decorate, different each evening. There were six adults and three children. One family. We did bring our own wines. The staff were amazing both nights. The chef was beyond amazing both nights. They accommodated our 8 year old grandson who is a vegetarian. He could not wait to come back the second evening. The sweetcorn ricotta with guanciale, blue oyster mushrooms in a light fontina sauce. I had ordered it for the table the first evening. We ordered five orders the second evening. The snap pea soup was a real winner. We wished to order the second evening but it was not on the menu. We collectively ordered the filet mignon with a green peppercorn sauce. Rack of lamb grilled in an aromatic herb sauce. Grilled salmon with fresh olive oil, lemon and herbs. I had the veal chop a true medium rare, with porcini mushroom sauce. Each evening we had a dish with truffles shaved on it. One was a risotto and the other was a fettuccini. Absolutely brilliant in each case. Lots of shaved truffles too! That and the sauces were amazing. We had a chocolate birthday cake first evening and the second evening we had tiramisu cake with lady fingers. We came all the way from Los Angeles to have this incredible food and service. Our first night our server was Andrea. She was very professional and waited on us perfectly. I am embarrassed that I forget the second night waitress. She was also great. Both being very attentive. I cannot wait to make the trip back up and eat here again.

Amazing Italian restaurant when in Robles.
We dined here for a late dinner and we were glad we made reservations as the restaurant was busy from start to finish. Such a treat to have such an authentic Italian meal with great service and ambiance. This is a classier joint and everyone was dressed nice (no t-shirts and flip flops). Very romantic and the perfect spot for a celebration. The inside was classic and sophisticated. Primarily indoor seating but a couple tables out front too.Our waiter here was lovely. Said he was from Italy and gave us 5 star service all night. He was the man of the hour talking with every table and giving you those real Italian feel good vibes. The menu had a nice variety of appetizers, pastas, and main course dishes. Everything looked so good it was hard to choose what to order, a good problem to have.We started with bruschetta and the melon with prosciutto. If I had to pick one I would hands down say go with the melon. The prosciutto melted in our mouth, a great start to an even better meal.I had the fettuccine with sausage in a light tomato sauce. The fettuccine of course was fresh and every bite transported me to a happy place. The pastas here are magnificent and you really can't go wrong. Ribeye: if your not a pasta fan (whose not a pasta fan?) then I'd highly recommend the ribeye. Cooked a perfect medium rare with the best crust on the outside. Cooked with some olive oil it still had the taste of Italian flare, just subtle. Cooked to perfection it was another A+ dish. You get what you pay for so pricing is $$$ but also not outrageous for how great the meal and service was. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Krystal at the bar was awesome, great charisma and so fun and helped us pick out the wine and bubbly to go with our dinners. We couldn't sit at a table because we didn't have a reservation, even though several tables were open outside. But, it was a blessing because Krystal (bartender) was fun and made our night even better. And yeah, the food was good too! And incredibly fast.

Girls trip to Paso for the Midstate fair and we wanted good
Girls trip to Paso for the Midstate fair and we wanted good Italian food. We stopped in on Friday to make reservations for Saturday night for the 3 of us. 9pm was all they had so we took it and asked to be put on a cancellation list. 9pm is late for me and I get hangry!Flash forward to Saturday. We werwalking by at 5pm and decided to take a chance to see if we could get in. They seated us right away.We ordered a nice bottle of wine and an appetizer to share. Caprese was fresh and delicious. The bread was warm and tasted great.Dinner selections were a bit difficult to choose from. Didn't really want bison meat and we wanted to do family style and share. We ended up ordering 2 entrees. The fettuccine salsiccitia and the pasta fave. The fettuccine was to die for. The pasta fave was delicious but we pretty much picked out the fava beans. I mean really? Fava beans? Would have been excellent with shrimp or chicken. It needed a protein. We still had room for dessert so we ordered the cannoli. Yummy.Service was great and our server was amazing but we noticed from 6pm to 7pm there were 8 empty tables and not 1 new customer walked in the door. Wondering WHY we could only get a 9pm reservation??
😍
My mouth waters just saying the name.
Yes. It is that good. Check the specials. Forget the diet. Enjoy.
Our first time at this place and it was not a very good one. We were a party of four and one of us has celiac and they had many gluten free options, so this was a good place we thought. We had reservations in advance and were the first party to be seated, and also brought in our own wine for dinner. As we began asking about specials and the gluten free options the waiter took our questions and then return stating they had no gluten free pastas of any kind and that they were all out. We asked for items that were available and there was maybe 3 items. We asked if there could be some accommodations to the menu about not placing sauce on certain food to avoid the gluten and the waiter went to ask the cooks and they said they could not accommodate in anyway. They stated we had to pay the same amount for less food on a plate and could not substitute any items. When we asked they waiter why we couldn’t substitute a side dish for a non gluten side dish he laughed and walked away. I guess having a disease is something to laugh about. So no kind of accommodations and when asked it they could compensate the corkage fee the waiter again laughed and walked away. Needless to say we will not be going back to that place and as a gluten free reviewer. I wanted to let others know that they will not make any type of accommodations for you or others seeking that, so you may want to try a different place more accommodating.
I chose this place to celebrate my bday because multiple sources said it was delicious. The wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful with food recommendations. The food was incredibly fresh.

I've heard that Il Cortile is a must visit when in Paso
I've heard that Il Cortile is a must visit when in Paso Robles. It's a fancier Italian restaurant but the attire is very casual. I got the spaghetti alla bottarga, which is a pasta dish with shrimp, clams and cured fish. The bottarga (cured fish) gives a slightly salty fishy flavor that really adds to the dish. A very filling meal. There seemed to be just a couple of staff actually taking orders and getting the bill. The rest were cleaning up tables and setting the tables again for the next customers. The two staff were running in and out of the indoor area to care for all the customers. The tables are a little small but well spaced out.
We've eaten at Il Cortile before and it's been stellar. But our last visit topped all the previous ones. It was memorable. Everything we had was really well done. The wild boar ragu and the osso buco were heavenly. Service was spot on. When you see ownership there - you know they really care about the product. Needless to say - we'll be back.
Our waiter was also very knowledgeable on the specials and friendly.

Small restaurant and it's very easy to miss it, but the
Small restaurant and it's very easy to miss it, but the food is amazingly delicious. The pasta is made fresh daily, and you can taste the freshness in the pasta. Fresh veggie of the day is not just like many other places that serve you flavorless boiled veggie. It is a few different types of squash sauté with fresh herb and sprinkled with cheese. I don't like peas, but the purée sweet pea soup has the natural sweetness that is hard to forget and surprisingly delicious. Panna cotta can be found in many Italian restaurants, but this one is not too sweet and it's uniquely tasty! Most importantly, the service is fantastic and food is served quickly.

Great food but lacking in other areas
Food - 5 Service - 4 Location / Ambience - 2 The food at Il Cortile is top notch. Some of the best Italian food I've had on this side of the Atlantic. My wife and I both loved our pasta (Squid Ink Shrimp and Boar Ragu) and the Grilled Octopus was great too. I also love their selection of wines by the glass, which is one of the more extensive lists I've seen. They have a good mix of local Paso Robles wines and wines from Italy. I think the best way to describe the service is efficient. Our waitress was not chatty, but she was attentive enough especially given how busy this place is. She did bring me the wrong wine but quickly fixed the issue once I pointed it out. As for the location and ambience of the restaurant, let's just say Paso Robles is definitely not Yountville. We sat outside, and the tables right near the sidewalk are not very nice at all. There's parked cars a few feet away from you, there's random people walking right nearby on the sidewalk, and there's really no decoration to speak of in their outside area. There's a lack of plants, lack of any decorative lighting, or really anything that would make the space more inviting. My wife wasn't happy with the place when we first sat down because of how it looked, but once the food came out we understood why people come here.

Excellent Italian food!
Fabulous Italian restaurant! The food we ordered was wonderful - my husband had the osso buco which was so flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender, and I had the fettuccine salsiccia, which also had great flavor (and the pasta is homemade!). The restaurant is small so definitely make reservations. We throughly enjoyed our meal and experience there and will dine at Il Cortile again.
