Little Pearl Washington Reviews from The Last Year
I came for dinner to celebrate one of my best friend's
I came for dinner to celebrate one of my best friend's birthday yesterday evening. I will start off by saying we had a phenomenal experience. From the food to the service to the ambience, everything was top tier. The entrance is tucked away in a garden. When we arrived, we were greeted and escorted to our table promptly for our reservation time. Our server was amazing. She was attentive, knowledgeable and fun! We started off with snacks including the classic Angel Egg and the Pearl Onion. I was a little skeptical about the Angel Egg at first upon reading its description (I'm not a fan of deviled eggs), but it was absolutely delicious! It was light, creamy and flavorful. The first course started off with a steak tartare with a french onion broth. We were also served a slice of bread and green butter. We followed instructions to butter the bread and then dip it into the steak tartare, and let me tell you, this was damn near mind-blowing. Each course after this only continued to exceed our expectations with the exception of the triple cream cheesecake. I will admit, it was my least favorite on the evening's menu. Our server was very quick to replace this item with a coconut sorbet when she noted that I hadn't completed this dish. The sorbet was absolutely exquisite. We finished off the evening with the Orange-sicle which was a nice play on a childhood favorite of a Flintstone creamsicle. You end up leaving this place feeling fulfilled and satisfied. You also literally leave with a doggy bag including a small bottle of oat milk and an oatmeal cookie which ended up being the ultimate late night snack. I expected nothing less from this Michelin star restaurant and again, my expectations were exceeded. Well done Little Pearl!
My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here, and we have
My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here, and we have no regrets. Food is tailored to make sure texture, flavors, and presentations are perfectly matched with each ingredient and our personal preference. Amazing, simply amazing! Special shoutout to Misha who helped me making my wife feeling extra special for tonight, and of course, all the chef and staff, thank y'all for having us and for cooking us delicious, absolutely delicious food!
I hadn't been to Little Pearl in over 3 years.
Thanks to my lovely Yelp review, I was able to see that. So, having gone back to Rose's Luxury a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I needed to go back to its sister, LP.I'm giving LP 3 stars because of the current menu. 3 stars means it's good, 4 means I'm a fan, right? That's why I couldn't give it a 4. Maybe 3.5, tops. I simply wouldn't highly recommend LP's tasting menu based on last night's dinner. It has nothing to do with the service. Service was fantastic and friendly. Very comfortable in a casual setting - the covered patio area. The menu just wasn't great to me.We had the famous Angel Eggs, again, which are delicious and different. Crunchy, slightly sweet meringue makes the egg white part, with the traditional filling. That was followed up by a mini blooming onion. Look, it's adorable and it was good but, ultimately, it was just a blooming onion. On to the rest:Steak tartare - this was good on the crunchy and chewy bread, complete with furikake butter. Potatoes and trout roe - this tasted like mashed potatoes and seemed like it should be a side. The roe wasn't as salty or easy to pop as, I think, was intended. The potatoes definitely needed salt. I appreciated the intent of the salt and vinegar chips which I'm sure were for crunch, but there were very few of them - and most of what existed were softened already. Beef and brassicas - this course was like a mini beef and broccoli and wonton take out meal. The beef was tender and tasty and the wonton was cute, in its own little steamer tray with sweet sauce. Triple cream cheesecake - the Bourgogne cheese was strong, which I appreciated. It was served with what was described as wet dates (in a ball), honey, and applesauce? My fave pairing was with the honey because it went so well with the savory cheesecake. Orange sickle - this was a nice end to the meal. The sesame ice cream in the center was my favorite part of it. Takeaway - chocolate chip cookies and milk. *I didn't eat them so I don't know if they were good. The younger bro ate them before I could try a bit. Haha Nothing really wowed but it was a good, enjoyable dinner.
We were excited to try this for a a late lunch and came
We were excited to try this for a a late lunch and came away very disappointed! The fried oyster appetizer only had 3 edible oysters out of 6 on the plate. The other three were like trying to eat shoe leather! My husband says he could have chewed on it for days and I agree! Had to spit them out! So we didn't dare order a sandwich or entree. Bummer. Maybe need a different chef?
We came April of 2022.
I'm not sure this place deserves a michelin star but it's a good food experience. I believe the menu ingredients are ambitions but not as cohesive as I've seen at other michelin star restaurants.Angel Eggs - The whites to this appetizer egg are made from a merengue. It's salty and sweet (relish sweet) and creamy at the same time with a crispy crunch from the merengue. One of the highlights of the meal. Pumpkin and Kalamata Olive Cookie - glazed with a hot but sweet honey and this was something I wasn't looking forward to eating but it was actually super delicious. I'm not sure I would have served it as an appetizer but maybe dessert? Maine Scallop Crudo - By far my favorite dish. 1 scallop sliced raw and covered in veggies. There was something crispy in the bottom that made the texture pop. It was really good and you couldn't tell it was raw, there was no fishy taste just great texture.Falafel - Excellent but did not have any wow factor. It was a very common taste. They served it with an anchovy on top and it really didn't need to be there, you couldn't taste it and it added nothing to the texture. Visually it wasn't appealing to have a tiny filet of anchovy on the top of the falafel ball. Spring Vegetable - Another one of my favorites from the night. The grits and green sauce made this almost like a soup. I loved it. Head Cheese - The bread they served this on was insanely good. The headcheese was overpowering and probably my least favorite plate of the night. Surf and Turf - The oysters overpowered the steak. The steak was perfectly cooked and had great flavor but the aftertaste was a salty fishy taste.
Update: A guest liaison from the restaurant group
Update: A guest liaison from the restaurant group contacted us to discuss the issues from our recent experience at Little Pearl. We appreciate the quick response and willingness to ensure any future experience is reflective of the high standards this team holds themselves to. I am raising my review to three stars. I am saddened to write this review. My wife and I are huge fans of Aaron Silverman; and Rose's Luxury and Pineapple and Pearl are two of our favorites in DC. We were very excited to try Little Pearl and left horribly disappointed. Food: I'm going to be blunt, the food was by far the most disappointing part of our evening. Dinner opened with a welcome bite of the Angel Eggs and a mini blooming onion. The Angel Eggs were excellent and the meringue was a unique twist on a classic. The mini fried onion was clearly a play on Outback but was underwhelming. Just sliver of fried onion and some lackluster sauce. A Pringle tasted better. The second course was a Steak Tartare with Anchovy. This was good but didn't wow. Third course was warm potatoes with trout roe. The potatoes were excellent but the trout roe didn't add anything. All you wanted to do was pop the roe to get a salty rush but they just rolled off your teeth. It was just plain annoying. The most lack luster dish was the Beef and Broccoli. It was made to be a play on late night takeout. Unfortunately despite high end beef it ended up tasting like cold cheap Chinese takeout that had been sitting a few days too long in your fridge. The triple cream cheesecake was the most impressive but if you were not a fan of bold flavored cheese it would be unpalatable. It was paired with cracker crumb, honey, and nuts all which changed the flavor profile of the cheesecake depending on how it was mixed. The Mandarin Sherbet was not enjoyable and did not pair well at all with the sesame seeds. Neither of us finished it. I am usually raving about every dish we try at his other restaurants and all we could talk about on the ride home was how dissatisfied we were. Ambiance: We ended up at a communal high table about a foot from the next couple. The rest of the tables in the restaurant were similarly close together. I heard more of the couple's conversation next to us than I could hear my wife. Fortunately, they at-least agreed how disappointing the food was. Service: Outside of not offering to take our coats, the service was excellent. Wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable.Wine: I selected to do the wine pairing which was excellent. Our waitress recommend the standard vs. the higher end pairing which included a collection of smaller wineries from around the world. I enjoyed the wine and it was paired well with each dish. My wife is pregnant and the waitress provided her a small taste of each wine complimentary which was very thoughtful. Unfortunately the wine and service could not make up for the poor ambiance and unimpressive food. We also left hungry due to incredibly small portions and wound up eating late night bar food.
My husband and I made a reservation for a Thursday night as
My husband and I made a reservation for a Thursday night as a late Valentine's Day celebration. The price point was great for a Michelin Star restaurant...however the portions and the number of courses were not enough. We were still hungry after all the courses! We started with an angel egg, which looks like a deviled egg...except the egg yolk was on meringue. The blooming onion was delicious and perfect fried, we wish there were more of these for sure. Next came the beef tartare, I got the caviar add on for $45. It came with a slice of bread and a butter, this was delicious for sure! My husband got the carrot tartare, he said it was okay. The deconstructed baked potato was next with some trout roe. It was overall a really nice dish! The main course was a beef dish, it was great except for the portion. It was way too small! Their play on the cheese plate was not my favorite. Lastly, the dessert was like a orange creamsicle with black sesame. The dessert was yummy and made my question how many oranges they go through to make it! Overall good experience, but wouldn't come back unless they served bigger portions for the entree or had more courses.
If you've done some googling, you'll know that this place
If you've done some googling, you'll know that this place has a michelin star. After dining here, I can understand why. One recommendation I will make at the outset is get the wine pairings if you can swing the extra cost. The sommelier is wonderful. He made great selections and described them in a passionate but approachable way, which really enhanced our dining experience. The tasting menu we had was very good, with fun plays on classics like beef and broccoli, bloomin onion, and deviled eggs. Everything was cooked perfectly and the dishes were all clearly prepared with care. There were a few small criticisms I had, but they minor and were quite possibly down to a matter taste rather than any error on the kitchen's part. There's a lot of passion for food and drink at this restaurant and they won me over. I'll be back again and I'd say everyone who has the means should give them a chance because it is definitely a pleasant experience.
Lovely Michelin starred restaurant in DC.
We were welcomed with a cocktail and sat down European style. Had deviled eggs and squash ?donuts as the amuse bouche. The deviled egg-texture wise was interesting since it's a meringue that replaced the actual deviled egg. I loved the tartare, the cheese board. Enjoyed the wine pairings quite a bit. Left full and with midnight snacks to go!! Would return, hopefully soon!
Had a great anniversary dinner at The Little Pearl.
Great food and amazing drinks. We will be back for sure
We were there for my husbands birthday.
The restaurant was beautiful, the service was great. Overall the food was great expect the main entree- chicken winner- i was very disappointed with the dish. All the other courses were great. Another thing Is that kept reading through reviews that they give you a drink while you are waiting for the table which they did not do for us.
Excellent food and service, a fun experience for foodies!
Excellent food and service, a fun experience for foodies! The deviled egg was one of the coolest things I've eaten. Props!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
