seriously overhyped. the staff was snotty the seating rules are ridiculous - you are not allowed to sit outside if you made a reservation and when we asked to be moved to a table away from the entrance that was also unacceptable as well. Even though there were plenty of open table. The worst part was the food was no good. Greasy sweet potatoes and vinegary zucchini for $34.00. Then there was some odd plant decoration sitting out that we were just curious about so we touched it and the bus boy just kept yelling at us "don't touch, don't touch" Why don't they have a sign explaining what it is if touching it is such a problem. Honestly, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.

4.5/5I made reservations more than two months in advance and could only get us a lunch spot but I was happy to get a reservation for our anniversary. When you make one online it asks you for your dietary preferences and special occasion, I couldn't tell that this made any difference to our experience though. Our spot by the window upstairs was beautiful! We lunched right before their kitchen closed for the day so it seemed quieter than I expected, perhaps it's not as hard to get a spot here as others say? When you call you can't reach a human but there are plenty of spots for outdoor seating and their food truck is nearby if you can't get a spot. Staff was very kind! Our wait staff (Lucy?) seemed newer, young and shy - a little slow to serve, we had to flag her down to order more drinks but nothing I wouldn't fault them for. One of our plates did not come out together so that was a little clunky but Lucy realized it and apologized (someone else had served it for some reason - again, probably they were just trying to finish up their lunch, we didn't feel rushed). The food was actually not as good as I was expecting. I've had fresh foraged meals in Alaska and those were better so I was expecting that level or beyond. The drinks though were well worth it! A very nice experience for our "special day". Plates are small but well priced. The mushrooms on the taco seemed like they could be more fresh, or cooked better - little to no seasoning and kind of chewy. The Three Sisters open face sandwich was the best. The beans are skippable but the rice was fun since I'd never seen wild rice in that way. I loved the native drum music but if we were there when it was busier it probably would have stressed me out with all the noise.

You go to appreciate the values of a traditional food system that offers plates of local and creative deliciousness. It takes an open mind and draws a feeling of gratitude. First off it is difficult to secure a reservation. So call in advance. The location is awesome on the river. I love the concept. The food was perfection. I had the Elk Sandwich and I loved it. I also had the wild rice which was amazing. Our server was quick with us and not very polite. She only came back once to check on us and we never got drink refills. Service needs work. I will return.

This dining experience was truly moving. We brought a group of Native youth from AZ to try it out. We didn't have a reservation so we had to get there early and got to see the team smudging themselves and the space. We loved trying the different teas. Everything was lovely but the bison bowl was beyond. I wish, wish, wish I could have this dish always. The greens and grains balanced nicely with the dressing drizzle and the drippings from the bison. It was whole and hearty without being heavy. I was in heaven. The blue corn mush was also spectacular. I will plan a trip to take my gf soon. Not to mention the team was so friendly and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend.

My husband and I had been trying to get into this restaurant and finally snagged a 4:45 pm reservation for a belated wedding anniversary. We were really excited to go, even at that early hour. Our hope was to have a leisurely dinner sipping some wine and enjoying the view. The view is great and the restaurant is sweet. It's small but nicely appointed and the atmosphere was airy and relaxed.The food was good...not great, but it was good. For the all the anticipation it fell a little short but perhaps we had set our expectations too high.The reason I give this restaurant such a mediocre review is because of the poor service. Based on everything we heard we thought this was going to be an experience. Our server not only didn't adequately explain the food items to us and why their preparation was important...she made us feel rushed to order, eat and be on our merry way. It was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. Perhaps our server had an off night. I saw other servers actively engaging with their tables and explaining what was special about one dish or another. I wish it lived up to the hype for us but sadly this experience was ruined by a server who didn't particularly share our enthusiasm for being at Owamni. Bummer.

We had a reservation at 4pm. My friend was very excited because she avoids wheat and this place is perfect for that. We had a series of small plates to share. They were all excellent except for our wild rice dish, which said it came with root vegetables, of which we found none in our serving. Other than that the staff was fabulous. The drinks were superb and the remainder of our meal met or exceeded expectations

I made reservations with a friend to come to Owamni, loving the uniqueness of a restaurant that show cases Native American food while also being a James Beard winner, and there were wonderful parts of our meal but overall the food didn't live up to the hype.Pros- beautiful restaurant decorated with attention to detail for embodying the vision of the restaurant- engaging, friendly service staff- the 2 mocktails we ordered were unique and refreshing- the elk tartar was an absolutely stunning dish and tasted as amazing as it looked- presentation of the other menu items we orderedCons- everything else we ordered was just either lacking flavor (mushroom tacos) or too dense and heavy (elk corn sandwich and the cake). I'm assuming leavening agents were not used by Native Americans in their grains/baking so as a result the corn tortilla was really tough, as was the corn cake. The dessert cake was so dense it ate like a cliff bar muffin and we couldn't finish it. The corn mush was ok but tasted like lightly sweetened grits. No explosion of flavor and not memorable.I love the concept still of this restaurant and if I'm back in Minneapolis, I'll return again as the menu constantly changes to reflect what's in season. Maybe I'll just order 3 tartars and will still thoroughly enjoy the meal!

I will admit that despite the commitment to free range, indigenous food the menu appeared quite exotic to this midwesterner. However when I dove in to the plates my initial hesitation was completely blown away by everything.It was explained that with few exceptions dishes were meant to be shared. With that in mind we largely went with our gracious server as she made one suggestion after another.I really don't know where to begin so I will try my best to do the restaurant justice. The four of us were comfortably seated at a table overlooking the river. We passed around well prepared, attractive plates that included a sublime bison tartare, smoked lake trout, native corn tacos, a salad topped with flavorful toasted crickets and a piquant bean purée.We proceeded to excellent Pacific Char, delicious and hearty oxtail soup, savory wild turkey and another round of native tacos.Sides included wild rice, blue cornbread with garlic spread and roasted and grilled mushrooms.We had various teas and sodas including a tart cayenne fizz for me. Desserts were, as I recall a maple tart of some sort, a wild rice based sorbet, a faux chocolate offering and what I think was some kind of parfait. In any case all were equally great.Noise levels occasionally made conversation a challenge. Parking can be an issue. However everyone was welcoming, well versed and efficient.If you are at all like me (a white male widower of a certain age) I would invite you to overcome any aversion you may have and surrender yourself to this tremendous establishment.

What an experience!The menu was created by 'Sioux' chef Shaun Sherman using ingredients that were available to native Americans prior to the arrival of Europeans.His culinary skill is phenomenal and easily on par with Michelin class chefs. We tried the Elk corn sandwich with sweet potato, chili crisp, and pepita followed by red cliff lake trout with white bean spread on blue corn tostada along with the cedar braised bison corn taco with chili and maple vinegar.Our meal was paired with an interesting Nebbiolo from Mexico recommended by Thad, who has worked with Shaun for over 20 years. Thad told us about Shaun's history and development as a chef and added background and anecdotes as we ate.The chef has won three James Beard awards, including one for the restaurant itself.Worth a special trip if in the area.

TLDR: very good food, can take a long time to order, poor value for money.Since it is featured in so many 'best of' lists, I had very high expectations of Owamni. It delivered on many fronts. The cocktails and infused teas are unique and worth a try. They were also prompt with water refills which was welcome on this hot day!As for the food, the bison taco was probably my favorite. Expensive at $8 for a single taco, but filling to shell ratio is fantastic, the meat is very tender and slow cooked, and it has a slightly spicy kick to it from the chili oil.Roasted potato with chili oil had excellent flavor, it was a bit spicy and was a larger portion than most of the other dishes. It was roasted to perfection but not too crisp. We also enjoyed the trout and white bean mash, which has a very unique, slightly salty flavor to it.While it is an excellent restaurant, I could not give this particular visit 5 stars. They ran out of at least 3 menu items that we tried to order. The ordering and cooking process took a long time, we did not get our food until almost an hour after we sat down. And finally, there is a service charge of 18% and then the servers insisted on additional tip on top of that which was already a very expensive meal.

I tried to get a dinner reservation a few times since Owamni opened last year and finally got in about a year later. It's a beautiful space. Bright, open, minimalistic with the smell of three different types of wood wafting through. Service was wonderful and the food simply outstanding. Amazing...it was beautiful. My boyfriend and I hardly talked during the meal because we were just so enthralled with everything. I love restaurants that really pay attention to detail, source responsibly and give back to the community. I can't wait to come back!

Went to this "hard to get reservation" restaurant for lunch. I ordered the $16 Choginyapi Corn Sandwich with Turkey (see photo). This 5 inch diameter plate arrives (again, see photo). My wife and I look at each other in disbelief. I later asked the server how big are the $8 tacos. Same size. So basically I got a $16 turkey taco. My foodie wife got the Waksica Native Grain Bowl with Bison. She was less than impressed. Don't belief the hype, belief your eyes (again, see photo).

We REALLY enjoyed the venison tartare with duck aioli. It was the highlight of the meal. My wife liked the smoked whitefish with bean spread (which I thought was "OK"). The mushroom taco was, again, OK. The bison taco was better. These are all fun flavors to try but they are not in our "sweet spot." The blueberry iced tea was a treat, though. The sun-butter bar for dessert was disappointing--a bit like a chunk of granola with sweet over it. Service was attentive and professional.

Exceptional service (Christina was wonderful and helped use choose food and drinks and overall really warm and great), spectacular location (it really can’t be beat - our table looked out over the Stone Arch Bridge and Mill Ruins Park), great concept. We went day two in their spring 2022 a la cart menu and were blown away by some dishes (blue corn mush, roast sweet potato, and the wild rice sorbet) and others were good but not mind blowing (bison taco, mushroom taco, duck sausage - a little dry, white bean spread with smoked lake trout, maple chaga cake). Next time we’d consider ordering the entrees but we wanted to try more things. We were bummed that some things were sold out when we were ordering (some dishes and all the non-alcoholic cocktails - which sounded great) but later in the night seemed to come back. It did get us to try a Switchel drink, the Tumeric Fizz, which was really good! The teas were ok but the Switchel was unique and tasty. Overall we were glad we went, even though it wasn’t the best meal of our lives (my partner did say the wild rice sorbet was one of the top restaurant desserts he’s had though - I wouldn’t go that far personally but it was really good) and we are looking forward to going back again in the future to try new things!

The person who seated us was cordial and good humored, as was the person who helped us change tables. Our server started with "Are you ready to order a drink yet?" or something similar and continued to seem pained throughout our meal. I've had enough of everything being infused with politics. I'd never eat at a restaurant that touted it's devotion to Trump 2024. Neither did I enjoy the uniforms at Owamni emblazoned with "#86colonialism" with my lunch. I am not interested in turning back the clock - not to the 1950s, not to 1491. I'm not going to apologize for my European ancestry or ancestors. The young people at the next table were amazed that a person could create a meal without dairy and other European ingredients. Are they so ignorant that they are unaware that people have been preparing meals in the Americas for more than 10,000 years? I found no joy in the descriptions of the dishes, in the serving the food, or in the flavors presented. I've also tried "traditional" Nordic food (prepared with ingredients from before non-European ingredients) and it was also not that much fun. I prefer the joy that Italians (in Italy) bring to dining. Like the Guthrie and Walker, Owamni dishes up culture as medicine. TRY SOME JOY RATHER THAN EARNESTNESS!!

It has the most beautiful food and presentation that I have ever seen in my 73 years. I was totally amazing! From the staff to the chefs from the restaurant to the view. Our children and their spouses took us there for my husbands 79th birthday . I'm a REALLY fussy eater and generally refuse anything that I think I won't like... my kids talked me into just trying a bite. I was so charmed by the looks of the food and I lOVED it . The drinks were superb , the staff impeccable . I will go back as often as I can! Pricy ( for us) but HIGhLY recommend Totally worth the drive from Madison, Wisconsin

Reservations were impossible to find, so we lucked out with a walk-in. Hostess was helpful and accommodating. Dinner was delicious: bison tripe & tail, mutton tacos, and wild rice stuffed quail were highlights. Four-course meal took a long time. After months of trying to get a reservation, my husband and I were able to get in off the waitlist. I really wanted to love this experience and meal, but I was disappointed, especially with so much hype. We came during their winter prix fixe menu. Of eight total dishes, the standouts for us were the venison, duck pate, and pheasant, although none blew us away, we thought these had good flavor. Everything else was bland, the description was more interesting. I did like their drink menu, the non-alcoholic drinks were tasty.The space is lovely, open, modern, clean lines, and it felt intimate. The staff were nice, but this was over a 2.5 hour meal. Our meter kept running out and by the end we asked the server to rush the dessert because I didn't want to add more time. I just wanted to leave at that point, it was too long. I may give it another try if they bring back their a la cart menu, but unfortunately I feel indifferent about the meal.

This app is filling a void - there's a real market to tap into here. It's just annoying to see some reservations getting sold out here that end up in a no show - the restaurants aren't benefiting in such cases unless they charge a no-show fee. Besides this issue, I'm looking forward to the app community growing and would love to continue to contribute towards it's growth in any way that I can!

When my booking transfer initiated two days earlier but didn't complete by the day of the reservation, AT was able to expedite the transfer and confirm a table at Call Me Gaby in Miami Beach. I just stumbled upon this site and within 24 hours of posting a bid for an impossible to get table at Delilah (on a holiday weekend no less), my reservation was confirmed! So easy to use and it worked flawlessly. Brilliant!

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
