Rania Washington Reviews from The Last Year
I dined at the bar at Rania last night and had a great
I dined at the bar at Rania last night and had a great experience. The ambiance is pretty cool and I'm guessing more Indian traditional than contemporary. My one pet peeve about the bar is how close it is to the ball when you enter the bar area. I can see the seats against the wall being hard to navigate behind people, especially overweight people. I say opt for a seat facing away from the window if you value space and don't mind not looking outside. The food and drinks were great here. It was nice seeing Tony (Bar Manager) who I know from way back in the day at Del Campo. I think I got hooked up with 1-3 free drinks so kudos to him for taking care of me. The drinks are outrageous with all the smoke and cool stuff they do. The Rang Birange display is absolutely nuts with all the snake and box. The Make Me Famous was also good. I forget the 3rd drink I had but all were great. At a price point of around $19 per drink, the presentation made up for it. I opted for the $90 Prix-fixe menu and it didn't disappoint. You better bring your appetite as course 3 is huge with the Naan and Rice on the side. I started with the Shrimp Koliwada which was very spicy and tasty. The second course was Chana Masala Panisse, which was also very good. The Hay Aged Pork Loin was also very good but I had no room left after the first two courses and all the Naan and Rice that was on the side. For dessert, I opted for the Chocolate Tart, which was light and delicious. The service here was great and almost too attentive, but that's a Michelin star experience for you. I can see myself being a regular here but will opt for the a la carte menu at the bar unless I'm starving and can handle the prix-fixe.
First time to this newly minted Michelin starred Indian
First time to this newly minted Michelin starred Indian restaurant. To say a unique dining experience is a disservice...it truly stands above the other offerings in town. Though it's a fixed price menu, there are still a number of options per course. Service is excellent...friendly, knowledgeable ( just learned that vindaloo is actually based on a Portuguese recipe...not what we think of !). Well appointed dining area, bright and energetic. Though a number of tables were occupied it was remarkably quiet. Being in DC, the $90/person tab was still a value, based on quality, presentation and portion. Won't go into a lengthy description of our dishes, just to say it's not your typical industrial Indian cuisine. Worth the splurge!
Some of the best Mexican food you're ever going to have in
Some of the best Mexican food you're ever going to have in your life definitely try sauce and chips definitely try their quesadillas and also Margaritas Cadillac at the best
A well-known famous Punjabi restaurant in DC revamped
A well-known famous Punjabi restaurant in DC revamped itself recently into this beautiful unique upscale venue. The food is reminiscent of Punjabi Staples however with a fusion twist with Cultural cuisines throughout the subcontinent. The food definitely makes you stop and think about where you are. I had to dock one star as it didn't suit my stomach. however at the end the presentation, the ambience, the service was excellent would highly recommend.
The food and drinks at Rania were very good, so the reason
The food and drinks at Rania were very good, so the reason I'm giving it 3 stars is the service. We sat at Rania for about 2.5 hours, and saw our server 3 times, max. We waited nearly an hour between our second appetizer and main course, but we didn't see our server that whole time. Thus, not only did we not have an update about the timing of our food (despite tables that walked in after us getting food before us), but we also didn't have a chance to order a drink while we waited. On drinks -- all the cocktails are very theatrically made (smoke, light up, etc) which I really appreciated. They were also yummy.
I had an excellent birthday dinner at Rania.
It is a very creative take on Indian cuisine while being true to the fundamental. The aloo chaat was excellent, and so beef short rib. Every dish was interesting!
I see why Rania received one Michelin Star, this place
I see why Rania received one Michelin Star, this place impressed. The parking is not that good, either street parking or garage, there was no valet option when we went. Other than parking, everything about the experience was exceptional. The restaurant was clean, the service was prompt and attentive, and the food was stellar! The price should not be surprising, so don't be shocked. When you add on drinks (avg $19 or more) or order from the special, it goes up there. My party ordered the lobster special with an upcharge of $30 on top of the $90 tasting menu, a separate Beef Short Rib family-style for $60, and numerous libations. Enjoy the company, enjoy the meal, and don't worry about the cost.
Maybe closer to a 3.
5. What I got off the tasting menu: - Shrimp koliwada (3.5/5) - Shrimp were well cooked and there was an explosion of flavor, but it was a little on the salty side. - Lamb cheela (3/5) - Kinda reminded me of a lamb birria taco. Decent but not amazing - Pork vindaloo (3.5/5) - Large, nicely cooked pieces of pork belly in a pretty tasty curry, but I dunno how this could be called vindaloo without any spiciness. - Mishti doi (3/5) - I don't remember too much about this dessert. - Cocktails (4/5) The service was super attentive, and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it. But ultimately I think I'd prefer to go to Daru (or even Indigo) for Indian food in DC.
We went here last night with friends from out of state.
$90 per person for 4 course meal. Truly I would give it a 3.5 star if comparing only to other Michelin stars in the area. The ambience was nice, but it definitely was a little dark in there. The service was good, but not as good as I've had at other Michelin star restaurants. The food was yummy and had good spice and flavor. If you don't like any spicy food, this isn't the spot for you. I was a little disappointed with the lamb, Rogan Josh - it was a pretty small portion. I understand tasting menus tend to be smaller portions, but I was expecting a little more. The amuse bouche to start was unexpected. The accompaniments with the main course included two small pieces of garlic naan, and two pieces of roti, two bowls of saffron rice, and two small bowls of lentils. I wish there had been more naan. The portion of that was really small for four people. The roti really wasn't that good I would've rather had more of the naan. One of our friends requested the cheapest full bottle of red wine (they sell half bottles for some reason and it's not worth it $ wise). We had a hard time understanding some of the servers and when he brought over a wine it ended up being a more expensive bottle. None of us were aware until after we left and were talking about the bill total. The metro delayed for 30-40 mins while on our way in which resulted in us being late for our reservation. I called them twice to update them on the situation and they were very reassuring that it was OK. We did end up in the bar area as opposed to the dining room, which is what our reservation had us at. I suppose this change could be due to us being almost an hour late, but a little heads up that that would happen would've been nice. We listed a birthday on the reservation and nothing was done by the restaurant to celebrate that. Most restaurants, even non-Michelin star ones, but especially the Michelin ones tend to do something special for special occasions. All in all it was fine but not some place I need to go back to.
Loved my experience here.
Food is served in a nice timely manner. It's $90 for four courses but you have the option to add additional dishes for different prices for each section of the course. The price is very fair. The definite stand outs for me was the oysters, lamb, and beetroot. I think the oysters were #1 for me bc I've never had oysters served with this sauce. It's amazing and warm. The beetroot chop was nice and crispy with fresh veggies that made it refreshing. And I just love the lamb and the sauce with crispy almonds on top. Everything else was perfectly cooked. Like the short ribs melted like butter, so freaking tender. Everything else was just delicious but nothing that I'd die to come right back for. Overall, high recommend trying this spot out. Great for dates.
Vegetarian variety: 8/10.
Each section of the three-course menu had two vegetarian options, one of which was dairy-free. Each table also gets three small sides to share, all of which were vegetarian. Taste: 8/10. My first two courses were terrific - textured, creative riffs on familiar chaat dishes with intentional flavors and really pretty plating. I would have happily enjoyed another plate of each! In comparison, my main dish of tandoori paneer felt a little flat and heavy, though still tasty with the shared sides and rice that came with it. Ambiance: 8/10. Comfortable chairs you could sink into, wide tables, accents of gold without going overboard - what's not to like? Price: 8/10. $90 per person for a Michelin-starred three courses plus dessert was very reasonable.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Appointment
I was waiting on the transfer for name but it hasn’t happened yet and my reservation is tonight , will it be an issue that is hasn’t changed into my name yet
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Just got scammed!
Thats unfortunate but you can always get your money back if they cancel the reservation.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
