Ruth's Chris Steak House Walnut Creek Reviews from The Last Year
I meant to update my review sooner.
The last few times I've been there with people, it's been back to good food, drinks, and service.
Hadn't been here in 15 years.
First off the food is A++++ 5 stars. Service was great, drinks were great. What was WEIRD is the security guard that wears a cowboy hat, matrix sunglasses, and has a revolver who just walks around with a swagger. Nothing against him, but it is a vibe killer and so strange. Why do they have a cowboy walking around the dining area? It's peak cringe
This place has become a complete and utter disaster.
We used to go all the time with our family and it was great. A few years ago we began noticing that the food quality was consistently bad. Nearly every steak that came out of the kitchen was severely undercooked, no matter how you ordered it. We stayed away for a long time. Then we began going back occasionally and it was not any better. Tonight was the absolute worse. We ordered two Filets "Medium", both steaks came out rare, uneatable. We sent them both back, one came better and the other, which was replaced with a new steak, came out worse than the first one. I called the general manager over, he was as bad as the food. While he told me that I didn't have to pay for our food, he added "please just leave". Not only did he not de-escalate the situation, he raised the tension level tremendously. It was an awful experience. And not to mention, they now have an armed security guard standing and pacing in the restaurant. Very unnerving and nothing close to a relaxing dining experience. If you want a good steak dinner in Walnut Creek, Flemings is your place. Should have gone there. Oh well, next time. This location of Ruth's Chris should just close.
A solid steak house with mediocre service.
I attended a drug presentation event at this location a few weeks ago and the food we were served was pretty good. I didn't see an attached parking structure so I parked at a nearby city garage. There is street parking as well but spots are very hard to find given it's downtown so it might be much easier to opt for garage parking. The presentation was held in a private room that's spacious and equipped with a projector. We were given some entree choices in addition to the steak house salad, garlic mashed potatoes, fresh broccoli, and chocolate sin cake. I picked the 11 oz filet, medium, with the lobster tail enhancement. The salad arrived quick but the entree took forever to arrive. After the presentation, everyone sat hungry for more than 30 minutes before our food arrived. I asked for a Diet Coke, it never came. I asked for an iced tea, it was given to the wrong person. No one wanted to stay even longer for dessert, so we asked for it to be packaged to-go. Despite the mediocre service, the food was good. The salad was fresh and the filet was juicy and cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was delicious and seasoned well. I had some leftovers to take home and the next day, after putting the filet in the microwave, it was still juicy and tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were also delicious and the chocolate sin cake was just the right amount of sweetness. I'm not sure if I would return for dinner with family or friends but will consider it in the future if there are more presentations held in this location.
Our family experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House , in
Our family experience at Ruth's Chris Steak House , in Walnut Creek, CA. On 7/6/2023, a group of friends and family and I went to celebrate a family member's birthday. My wife and I were there along with a group of friends to have a nice dinner and celebrater this special occasion. We had a nice dinner that was very expensive, and the bill was over $1000 for our small group. Nobody came to ask how the food and the service were. And after spending over $1000 that attitude was very disappointing. After dinner, my wife asked me to go with her to the bathroom. When we walked into the hallway, and got out of the carpeted area, we stepped on the slippery floor, and we both fell. My wife was holding onto my arm, so we both went down, and my wife injured her left knee. My wife fell down very hard, hurt her knee, and could not walk. The restaurant staff, saw us falling and they didn't even try to help us at all. The waiter and assistant manager were rude, trying to blame my wife by saying that they, themselves, had never fallen, instead of trying to lend a helping hand and see if my wife was OK. She was in a lot of pain and could not walk and was sitting by the bathroom. Only the manager did try to help. We were extremely disappointed by the staff's lack of care and especially for the lack of empathy and professionalism, after my wife was injured from the fall she sustained. We never received a formal apology from anybody at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Walnut Creek, CA, and nobody seemed to care what happened to my wife and didn't seem to bother simply asking how she was doing. The staff at this restaurant, lacked professionalism and simple empathy for their customers. For being a pricey restaurant, the staff should have been more professional, and more caring, but they were very rude to us. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
Service was good, and management made a reasonable effort
Service was good, and management made a reasonable effort to correct and comp parts of the bill to make up for the consistently off temperature steaks. The cooks don't seem to understand how to cook steaks to desired temperature. This would be forgivable in a modestly priced meal, but for an expensive steakhouse to not be able to properly cook steaks is a pretty big fail, and felt amateurish.
Ruth Chris used to be my favorite steakhouse in the Bay
Ruth Chris used to be my favorite steakhouse in the Bay Area but unfortunately it's gone downhill. The plates of steak used to come out sizzling but now they are on tiny plates. We ordered the rib eye and some fillets. The rib eye was supposed to be medium rare but came out overcooked. Our lobster tail accompaniments came without butter and the chef forgot to put them on. They just aren't paying attention anymore. The lobster Mac and cheese was a bit watery. Overall the food was okay but it's no longer my favorite steakhouse. And the service was slow and forgetful. Not sure I'll be coming back. Ambiance is nice. They have a dress code, jeans are okay but not ripped jeans. It was packed and somewhat noisy.

I have never in my life received such horrible service as I
I have never in my life received such horrible service as I did when I attempted to dine at the Ruth's Chris in Walnut Creek. I'll start off by saying I've been to the one in San Francisco a number of times before they closed down permanently during covid. My teenage daughter made reservations for she and I to have dinner at Ruth's Chris on Mother's Day. When we arrived, I let them know we had a reservation at 6:45 pm. All of a sudden, the hostess looks at my daughter and says we have a dress code. Mind you, I've never experienced this at Ruths Chris in the past. I said, "Okay, what is the dress code?" She said no holes and no distressed jeans. My daughter's jeans were distressed. However, there were no holes. I explained to the young lady that there weren't any holes in her pants... at all! You can not see any skin through the jeans. She was adamant and said sorry... if you want you can go purchase a pair of pants and come back. I explained that I drove one hour to get to the restaurant... it's not as if i can go home and have her change, and I'm absolutely not going to have her purchase a pair of pants. The audacity! When I got home, I reviewed their dress code policy, and they lied. No where in the policy did it say you can't wear distressed or frayed jeans. It honestly felt like they were discriminating against my daughter because her hair was braided in cornrows, and she had baggy pants on... she's a bit of a tom boy. Either way, I called and spoke to a manager the following morning and got absolutely nowhere. He insisted that the website said no distressed jeans. So I pulled up the language and read it to him. I also read the disclosure given when you make a reservation online, and again, it said no rips in jeans are allowed. I'll post pictures of their so-called dress code. In the end they lost really good customers... but overall, they ruined what was supposed to be a special day for my daughter and I. She saved her money and was so excited because she wanted to take me somewhere really nice and this happens. I honestly couldn't believe it. I'm an SF native and have been to more restaurants than I can count, and I've never, ever been treated this way. In addition, I tried to explain that my kid is the one who made the reservation, and she probably didn't notice there was a dress code... but at the end of the day, they told us we could not have dinner in the dining area... that if we wanted to stay, we'd have to sit at the bar because we didn't adhere to the dress code when, in all actuality, we did. They made up new rules specifically for us... what exactly would you call that??
I wouldn't even give a one star.
This place is trash! The employees here are so rude and don't have proper customer service. The manager tried arguing with me over my number of reservation. Stated someone had my password and changed the number of people and wanted to switch my time of reservation. No way will someone ever hack into someone account to change a reservation like what??? LOL they did NOT want to accommodate the issue. We get the table 20 mins later & get kicked out because my sister had a small rip on their jeans that you can hardly see because it was on the pocket. Another party of 10 plus got kicked out before us for the same issue. This place is insane ! It's 2024 they need to chill. Will be posting a video and all 6.2 million followers of mine will hear about this place.
