My wife an I here one evening for dinner during our trip to the Coast. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful with an amazing view and atmosphere. I ordered the Seafood Spaghetti which my wife and I shared (she wasn't very hungry). I think they took this as insulting, somehow. The staff and cooks kept making irritated glances at our table until the food arrived. The spaghetti was quite undercooked and the seafood which consisted of clams, mussels, crawfish, and scallops all seemed to be boiled in the same medium, as they were all bland and had the exact same flavor. The white "sauce" was very watery and tasteless. This restaurant is basically a tourist trap with a great view. Not worth the prices.

I'd dreamt of coming to Positano and this restaurant was such a lovely escape from my regular day to day. My squid ink pasta was wonderful and my friends enjoyed their seafood and pizza. The location right in town is fantastic and you have a wonderful view of the beach and yachts. Denzel Washington was a surprise guest at the table next to us- that made lunch even more special!

You'd think that for it being the "best" restaurant on the coast with those prices you'd be served some decent food. Our lasagna's whole top layer was burnt and stiff. The shrimp and calamari were very small and they didn't even give us a good amount . The pasta was very bland. The french fries were not very good, they tasted like cheap and frozen from a bag at the store. If I could, I would give Chez Black 0 stars.

The spicy ham pizza wasn't spicy at all though but the pizza didn't flop down when you picked it up which was great a slightly thicker crusts then I've had at other restaurants. Extra points for a cute picture since it was in the shape of a heart. Overall a great spot by the beach

if you want a gimicky server dressed in a sailor outfit serving you mediocre pasta go here. very hyped up and they charge you a cover charge for "bread and olive oil". terrible service. they want to get you in and out quickly as possible. hotels recommend because they have a deal with the restaurant. nice view though if that's what you are going for.

It's always been my dream to visit Positano and I finally made it a dream come true. I've seen this restaurant in many YouTube videos in Positano and was so excited to try this restaurant right in the piazza. Love the marine clothed waiters, very charming and somewhat friendly. We ordered seafood of course. I selected spiny lobster and my husband chose a fish. They took us to chose the actual fish on ice, they weighed and calculated the cost the fish right their on the spot so there is no questions on price of seafood. We ordered fried anchovies, but felt they need seasoning and longer frying tone to make them extra crispy to the bite. My lobster came with a lemony butter, did not care for it. Just butter would have been better. We had burrada caprese salad, very good. I also ordered spaghetti à oil Dee-lish !! White wine to accompany the meal amazing. We would come back.

The location was awesome, many famous people had stopped by over the past years. We ordered ravioly baby octopus and risotto. The taste is standard italian, however the atmosphere is extraordinary.

Food was sad and disappointing. The staff created a pretentious atmosphere out of nothing. High prices, loud, chaotic, crowded, no view, very stressful to have dinner there. When the atmosphere is bad, the food is below average, even the aperol spritz is sad, the prices too high, you know it's one of the worst restaurants.

We had an early dinner without reservation. We were mostly happy with the food, only I didn’t like the fried baby squid because you couldn’t almost taste any squid, just the fried flour. The service was friendly. In general it was a good experience.

Definitely make a reservation, place has a fun vibe to it and great views. Started off with their Burrata, very tasty. We got a pizza Bianca Al Prosciutto, very good. I had wanted to try a cuttlefish ink pasta while in Italy and they do it justice. Very flavorful and quite messy, they do give you a bib, try to be careful when eating it, it's worth it. Finished off our meal with Limoncello, a definite must do when in the Amalfi area. The place may seem kind of touristy, but it is very fun.

Service was terrible. We had a reservation for 21,00 we sat down at 21,45. A server came and took our order 30 minutes later. Food came an hour after that after we had already finished our wine. No apologies. Food was fine but not good enough to overcome the horrific service. Actually ruined our night, strongly recommended you avoid this chez black

Food was mediocre at best, the whole restaurant was working so hard to serve customers, while the manager sat on his phone. I felt bad for the servers who were understaffed post-pandemic. I ordered a bottle of wine that was putrid, and the second bottle was also bad.

If your looking for the quintessential restaurant that has past its prime, look no further. It's with great disappointment that I write this review. Sure, you will be enamored with the history of Chez Black, celebrity pictures on the wall, nostalgia of an old era, but it's no longer the restaurant it once was. From the moment you present, to the sprint you make to leave the restaurant, you will be left disappointed. The two male hosts (one who is in several of the pictures hanging above your table) view patrons like meat hanging in a butcher shop. It's rare to see such a display of over the top machismo. There is a pecking order to which table you will be given, flirtatious, voluptuous women seated to the front of the restaurant, and those average appearing to the back. It's comical that these two do not recognize that those with new money have little care about clothing labels and appearance, and seek an experience above all. Waiters do little to greet you and want to hurriedly get your order. Most fine establishments will help guide your through a menu, wine list or even local specialties. Not at Chez Black, they made it obvious that you should feel fortunate to be in their presence. After an hour of placing our order, we were served a meal that is on par with any number of restaurants found in the region, but only to be left with a bill that doubles their counterparts. The disappointment was overwhelming. Unfortunately, it seemed to be a common experience seen with other patrons. Be warned, this is not the place that some grand reviews suggest. You will likely have better luck at a small family trattoria where the emphasis is on quality food served with pride and friendship, and you certainly won't need lip filler and breast augmentation to flag a waiter down. Dear Chez Black, We hope you can take an honest assessment of what many online reviewers are experiencing at your restaurant. In a world full of over-hyped, under delivering establishments you have become common place. Consider becoming great again.

Stopped in for dinner with my partner after hearing good things about the place. Needless to say we left very disappointed and frustrated. While the prices are steep, you'd expect that given the waterfront location in Positano and fresh seafood. However, to say the quality of the food, service, and overall atmosphere was lacking is an understatement. We sat for 40 minutes before even seeing our server or given water. When he finally came around he acted like we were wasting his time. The food is very overpriced for the quality and quantity. We left hungry. The prawns we ordered were pricey and only 4 small ones were served on an otherwise empty plate. The grilled vegetables were a few thin shavings and over 16euros. We waited 20minutes for someone to acknowledge us so we could request the check. Do not waste a minute of your life in this place. It is the definition of a tourist trap.

I was so excited to get reservations for this restaurant in Positano. I was so disappointed in the service and the food. There are SO many places to go that would blow this place away. It is simply not worth it. The only thing it has going for it is the location. Don't buy in to the hype.

We went to multiple places throughout Italy and this one had the best food, hands down. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and a margherita pizza. Both tasted fresh and delicious. Keep in mind the restaurant is very busy, so do not go here if you are in a hurry. I removed 1 star because we had to request our check 3+ times.

We got seated at the same time as another couple who were on their entrees before we got our appetizers. Took us about 1.5 hours. When our appetizers arrived my husbands octopus was cold and my tomato mozzarella was terrible (see photo of not ripe tomato's). We complained about the time it took us to get our food as well as the quality. The "manager" said ok and did nothing, left the food sitting in front of us and went to play with his friends. Never got us new appetizers as requested. We then got out entrees (solid pizza and terrible spaghetti and seafood). When the check came we let them know we were not properly compensated which resulted in the wait staff fully yelling at my husband and I being wildly defensive. Message me if you'd like to see a video of the "manager" swatting my phone out of my hand. Your food sucks and you are the rudest humans in the world. Real professionals...never have I been disrespected like this in my life.

We were sent to Chez Black by friends that were previously in Positano. So happy! Food was amazing and the view was spectacular. There are quite a few restaurants on the beach in this area. This is by far the best one. We had a great lunch and the service was perfect! Looking forward to returning again!

We had been recommended Chez Black by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. The best Seafood sauté on our holiday. Absolutely delicious. My daughter enjoyed her meatballs and pasta. So much flavour. If we ever return to Positano, we will come and visit. Will recommend to others.

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

Best Answer It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Best Answer Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Best Answer Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best Answer Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

What happens if my bid expires unanswered?

Best Answer Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
