You pay for what you get! Prices are high for the steak and the wine. But the quality of the food and the service is exceptional. Between 3 we had a 10oz fillet and a 24oz T-bone with sides of mash, spinach and onion rings. No starters no desserts. More than enough food. Fabulous!

A Visit Worth Your Time
My overall experience was very good. But I will start with the reason for my single star deduction. Like many others, I was part of the fight delays and issues July 19th, 2024. I chose to add a booking in Manhattan and enjoy a couple days. Due to this unexpected delay, I was dressed very casually (including a hat; having not settled into my hotel as of yet). The matrie d’ came across as judgmental and rude as I requested seating (disappointing). I nearly chose to leave. However, a more junior member of the reception staff recognized the tone of her leader and quickly took the time to change my mind. After taking a seat at the bar, my experience changed dramatically for the good. My waiter was fantastic. The Manhattan Chowder was excellent and the Blended Burger was fantastic. All in All, I would recommend a visit to this location.
Great steakhouse - must try!
A pleasant surprise! We took a risk and reserved a table at Gallaghers for our son’s birthday during his first trip to NYC. We had read great reviews about the restaurant, and it seemed like a good choice. After walking past the meat locker - we were greeted by the hosts who were prompt to find our reservation and take us to our table. We were not disappointed - the steakhouse design, and open kitchen area, and the food was excellent - the porterhouse steak for two and the rib steak were excellent! The charcoal grill with hickory logs did not disappoint either. Sides were generous and the thick cut bacon appetizer was memorable. Our server, Robert, was excellent! He answered our many questions and his recommendations were perfect. We have already recommended this restaurant to many others and will definitely be returning.
One of New York City's great steakhouses
Meat and potatoes. My wife and I tried to adhere to our more fish/less meat diet during our week-long visit to New York City. But truth be told, there are as many or more outstanding steakhouses in Manhattan than Chicago has to offer. One of them is Gallagher's Steakhouse. Located at 228 West 52nd Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue, in the heart of New York City, in the dazzling lights of Broadway and Times Square, it has written a lot of history since opening in 1933. Gallagher's was the first steakhouse on Broadway and it served the first "New York strip steak." Today, it serves prime steaks and fresh seafood that attracts locals, tourists and theater-goers. We started with jumbo shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad with Romaine lettuce, garlic croutons and gran padano cheese, French onion soup with three-cheese croutons and Wedge salad with iceberg lettuce, tomato, smoked bacon and roquefort dressing. For her entree, my wife chose Dover Sole with mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans. I couldn't resist a 14-ounce filet mignon, grilled over hickory logs, with baked potato with sour cream and sauteed mushrooms. For dessert, we shared a large slice of key lime pie and a large slice of pecan pie with vanilla ice cream.

Expensive, it's a steaks house and it's in Midtown so not unexpected! Service is superb...the meat carts getting wheeled around is such a treat to watch. Waiters are constantly checking in. Steak is cooked perfectly to temp and the quality is what's you'd expect for a NY steakhouse. Ambiance is nice but not overly dim or dank as most old school steakhouses tend to do. Bring you pockets full, but you'll leave happy!

Outstanding food & outstanding staff (especially Mr. Soto - full of joy and kindness). We ordered beef (rib eye, new york sirloin and fillet mignon) and an excellent Chianti. The meat was cooked to perfection! We highly recommend!
Great steaks, wish it was a little quieter
Typical New York City steakhouse. Tables were very close together and the noise level was quite loud. All food items are a la carte but sides are large enough to share. Our server Brian was fantastic. He was personable and professional, really making for an enjoyable dining experience. My husband and I were very happy we chose Gallagher’s for our anniversary dinner.

My partner and I and our friend Derry stopped in last Friday night just to have a cocktail and were greeted by the bartender Danny. He was amazing and the drinks were great too. As we sat at the bar we would see some plates of food go by and they looked amazing so we asked if we could have a reservation for Saturday but they were booked. Over the course of the conversation with Danny surprised us with a reservation on Saturday night upstairs with him at the bar. We ordered steaks and lobsters after hearing how much I love bacon hooked me up with a surprise of a couple of strips of slab bacon that was the most amazing bacon I have ever had. He also gave us some amazing homemade steak sauce that totally slapped the jet lag out of us. The entire experience with Danny was magical and highly suggest asking to sit with Danny. He will make your dining experience complete. We look forward to eating at Gallaghers again and of course sitting with Danny

Nicholas, our server, was kind enough to give us fast service without making us feel rushed once he learned that we needed to get to a show.

Disappointing
We were honestly disappointed with Gallaghers. I spent hours researching the best steakhouse I NYC and finally decided on this one. We have visited steak houses in many different countries, mainly European, and this was subpar in comparison. The meat was good but the sides and starters seriously disappointed. It lacked taste and texture. The asparagus was boiled and lacked texture, it would’ve been better grilled. The sautéed mushrooms were super dry. I suspect their cappuccino is from an automatic machine, rather than espresso machine (I could be wrong), but if it is, it’s criticizable when it’s nearly $10. Overall, overly expensive meal considering the standard. The atmosphere was nice, a little loud, but the service was great! I would not come back and probably will not recommend to anyone, unless they’re not used to visiting top quality steakhouses. It just was not worth the several hundred dollars spent there.

Reservations are definitely recommended as it is frequently lauded as one of the best steakhouses in NYC. It's a bit fancy, but many people were dressed casually. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a view of their meat freezer with all of the different cuts on display. This might be a treat for steak aficionados, but for others, it's a lot of raw animal flesh to take in. The restaurant decor is very old school New York. It has a swanky vibe and the walls are adorned with photos of celebrities who have visited the restaurant. There is a bar with seating in the middle and ample dining tables on either side. They have a custom cocktail list. I can't recall the name of mine, but it was tart and fruity. Really enjoyed it. To start, we shared the green salad. Since we were sharing, they split it into two plates, which was a thoughtful touch. It was tasty and balanced well by the chewy dried cherries and crunchy pecans. We also got the burrata and coal-fired peppers. The peppers were salty and well seasoned. The burrata was very creamy. They do not have any vegetarian entrees, but plenty of choices among the sides to make a full meal. Interestingly, they don't have mac and cheese on the regular menu, but it was offered as a "special," even though it seems like it's available almost all the time. The dish was prepared with a unique, twisty noodle. It was topped with buttery breadcrumbs, which added nice texture. The cheese was just slightly sharp, providing satisfying flavor. I also got the sautéed mushrooms. The portion size was huge. The mushrooms were very buttery and savory. I enjoyed the brussel sprouts as well. These were served charred with crispy outer flakes. They were tossed in a sweet glaze and were very filling. My partner got the lobster tail and filet mignon and loved it. He was stuffed and had plenty of the filet left to take home. They served warm complimentary bread with salted butter. One was a sourdough and the other was a sweet loaf with nuts that almost tasted like a dessert. I called ahead to ask for a surprise treat for my partner's birthday. They brought out a chocolate lava cake topped with whipped cream and a candle. It had strawberries and blueberries and sauce on the side. It was complimentary and capped off the night perfectly. Our servers were attentive. Overall, a great option for steak and seafood lovers!

I made a reservation here for my boyfriend's 30th boyfriend (we are from Los Angeles, California and I wanted to surprise him with a nice night out). And Gallaghers beyond delivered! Our server Phil was authentic, hospitable, and made us feel comfortable and taken care of always checking in with us, making jokes and was very knowledgable on the menu. He made the experience so much better than it already would have been with the impeccable ambiance and delicious steak. And to conclude the amazing night, Phil delivered a birthday dessert for my boyfriend's birthday making it so special. Thank you Gallaghers and especially Phil for the incredible experience!
Best meal of our holiday
My husband and I ate here yesterday. It was really special! The food and the ambience in the restaurant is so lovely. George our excellent waiter made some great recommendations with our menu. We opted for Oysters which came with all the trimmings. We then had the Porterhouse Steak which was so delicious and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our visit so much, we have booked again for today and we can’t wait. A special thanks to George for looking after us so well!
We really enjoyed Gallagher's during our visit to NYC.
The filet was cooked perfectly medium rare and the sides we had were very good as well. The restaurant overall has a great atmosphere, and you can see the aging room for the steaks as you walk up to the door. Our servers were very attentive and answered all questions we had.
Great lunch course price
This was our second visit to this restaurant as our first time was back in 2019. We had a great experience back then and decided to go back. Lunch special was the perfect meal, portion, and price. If I remember correctly the price was same as it was in 2019, which we really appreciate since everything else in the world are more expensive since then. Service was great and food was pretty good. My steak was good but it was just not as great as I remembered. It was still cooked as I ordered (medium rare) and almost full of flavors. Clam chowder soup was delicious and so as my sorbet. I still recommend this place and you can't beat that lunch course price in NYC.

Classy iconic New York-type restaurant with dim lighting where the art of fine-dining service is preserved and classic hits by singers like Frank Sinatra play in the background. Great NY steak, wine selection, oysters, Caesar salad and French onion soup. The mashed potatoes were a bit bland, but adding salt and pepper gave it flavor. I came here for dinner right before a show at the Gershwin Theatre and they were great about bringing out the food in a timely manner so we could get to the show. It was our first time and we plan to come back.

When we left our home to go to dinner at Gallagher's, my older daughter got upset when I explained that Gallagher's is not an actual house made of steak. And you know what? Now I am too. That's pretty much the only downside of Gallagher's, as I see it. Well, they also ask you to pay a hefty bill when you're done dining, but that's to be expected. In any case, this place is awesome. It's an old speakeasy with high ceilings, tons of history, and while it's not made of steak, the meat locker in the front window makes it seem as though it is. We came with a large group, so I'm happy to say I got to eat all the things (not just a steak). Truly, there weren't any bad bites, but the highlights for me include: the burrata and red peppers, the clams oregonata, the shrimp cocktail, the shrimp and lobster dumplings, the creamed spinach, the lobster (shown and then broken down for you) and the ribeye. They also have an excellent bread service (although the butter should be spreadable), and a nice house steak sauce that is entirely unnecessary because the steaks are delicious on their own. Lastly, as always, I have to talk about the urinals. These things are absolutely MASSIVE pieces of marble, and worth poking your head through the saloon doors of the mens room to see. And if you're not as into comically-sized bathroom fixtures as I am, I guess you can just content yourself with an excellent steak dinner.
Amazing steak experience
We visited on our trip to NYC. This was recommended to us by a few people. We booked ahead, which would be best to do, we went on a Saturday night and was really busy. We got taken in and seated straight away, one cocktail and one juice for us. We got bread as we waited. We both had a sirloin steak and shared fries, mushrooms and onion. The steak came with steak sauce. The fries were huge so we just shared one as wouldn’t have managed one each. You could see the steaks being cooked behind us also. Staff were very kind and attentive and always made sure we were ok and if we needed anything else. Waiters kept topping up our water also. The steak was lovely, very tasty and cooked to how we like, sides were lovely also. Very very filling, couldn’t manage to eat it all as was a large portion, sad we were unable to finish as was so good. No room for dessert, however they looked really nice

Excellent first visit to Gallaghers, and this spot has several competitors beat for a few reasons. 1) It's a solid blend of buzzing ambiance, yet you're able to hear the people enjoying dinner with you. You don't have to worry about it being obnoxiously loud, so great for team/work meals. 2) Great service, as the staff tag-teamed most of the evening from menu suggestions, wine pairings, etc. They were very attentive and friendly! Would definitely come back on a future visit in the area for a nice evening out.
Great food - great price
We chose this venue based on its lunchtime special: three courses for $32, which I had read about beforehand. Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the restaurant's delightful atmosphere and ambiance. We were served by a wonderful, friendly waiter, whose name I unfortunately did not get. He was especially attentive to our 10-year-old, who opted for a side dish of mac & cheese instead of the full three-course meal. As our lunch menu came with dessert our waiter kindly offered him a choice of ice cream or a brownie to complete his lunch experience—a small gesture that truly enhanced our visit. The food from start to finish was fantastic, and everyones steak was cooked perfectly. From the first bite to the last, the food was outstanding, and everyone's steak was cooked to perfection. After a disappointing steak experience earlier in the week at another establishment, it was a relief to enjoy a flawlessly prepared meal. A place to visit - especially at lunchtime.

We had been recommended to Gallaghers by a very dear friend in NYC and we looked forward to experiencing the recommendation. Definitely not disappointed by everything that Gallaghers stands for - excellent steaks, terrific ambiance and the most personable staff imaginable. We were fortunate to be served by Shane Milligan - a truly professional master of his craft and a terrific asset to the establishment. A dining experience is as much about ambiance and service as its is about the meal served. The restaurant exudes the charm of bygone times - atmospheric and evocative ;-) Gallaghers wins - hands down - on all aspects of a delightful experience so many thanks to all that contributed to our evening - especially Shane!!!!!!

I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
