Great food, great service! The grilled octopus and zucchini cakes for appetizers were very good. The grill rack of lamb is a must try.The best was the dessert...the galaktoboureko (?? Spelling) was fabulous! So light and crispy with a velvety filling...hit all the right notes for us!

We had a lovely meal however the ribeye steak arrived

We had a lovely meal however the ribeye steak arrived medium rare instead of medium. I ordered another steak and unfortunately this one came back to me well done. I didn't want to send it back again because I already felt bad so we just ate it. I did mention it to the hostess and she was very gracious and said that it would be on her and they took it off the bill. I believe her name was BB. They didn't have to do that, but I was grateful that they did. As I left, she said goodbye and how sorry she was about the steak.( still delicious even though it was well done.) This is why we continue to go to this restaurant because it is not only consistently good, but the customer service is above and beyond. We will definitely return, but maybe not order the steak? Or perhaps I should learn how to eat it medium rare! In any case I very much appreciated their understanding!
We have eaten in many Greek restaurants around the country and this one definitely ranks up there with our favorite, Kellari in NYC. The rustic but elegant atmosphere accompanies well crafted and prepared food. Our dinner experience started with a warm greeting and being seated promptly by a hostess . Our experienced and reserved server recommended an outstanding bottle of wine which accompanied our delicious appetizers and salad, We then shared a perfectly prepared Lavraki accompanied by the gigantes beans. We were so glad we found room for the scrumptious flourless chocalate cake and a bowl of yogurt. This is our new go-to restaurant in SF.

This review is for the customer service we just received
This review is for the customer service we just received while trying to book a reservation. I loved Kokkari. The food is amazing and the dining service has always been impeccable. I've dined at their sister restaurant EVVIA in Palo Alto, equally amazing. I consider them both special and honestly have only gone there for special occasions, which brings up today's review. I am graduating grad school and both my family and my husband's family are flying from the east coast to celebrate. We chose Kokkari. I know from friends who work there that you have to call months in advance to get a reservation. My husband called at the beginning of February and told them it would be for a party of 12 on May 27th. We were told they only book two months ahead and to call on March 27th. We set a reminder. We called as soon as they opened. The lady on the phone told us they were already booked up and could not accommodate us without putting down a $5000 deposit on the private room. My husband asked how that could be and tried explaining the previous call, and she said "Well, there are a lot of people who work here that don't know what they're talking about." My husband is increasingly getting more upset tried to explain again what we were told, she said "email Melissa the event planner and tell her your feelings." ZERO customer service. There was no "I'm so sorry this happened. I understand you're upset," which honestly goes a long way and would not lead me to say what I'm about to say. We will never come back to Kokkari.
5 stars. Came here on a Friday night. I might have had too high of expectations for this restaurant. Whenever I told ppl I was coming, they say OMG kokkari we love it there. We ordered the octopus appetizer. Really good and tender. Ingredients were simple and you can really taste the olive oil. My bf ordered the lamb chops which were really tender and seasoned well. The potatoes it came with were underwhelming. They called them kokkari potatoes but nothing differentiated it from regular potato wedges. It seemed like an afterthought rather than intentionally made to pair with the lamb. Although the picture looks beautiful and the quality of the lamb was good, the portions were a tad small imo for a $63. My bf was still hungry after the 3 chops and ate some of my dish to fill up. I ordered the goat special of the day which was similar to a casserole. Orzo, cauliflower, artichoke hearts, lots of goat that's been marinated for 24 hours, and feta cheese. All baked in a cast iron dish. It was very good. I added a sprinkle of lemon to brighten it. A great dish. I asked the waiter if he's recommend this one or the braised lamb shank, and he recommended this one. I really liked how it wasn't so meat heavy. Had a good mix of carb, sauce, and vegetables.I preferred my dish over the lamb chops as it seemed more well rounded with a carb, and vegetables to accompany the protein. The lamb chops were very good but i would've preferred if it came with a better executed side. We finished w baklava. The ice cream was silky and rich. The baklava was sweet and nutty. The service was standard, not as exceptional as other folks have mentioned on Yelp. I would give this place one more try, but I felt it was overhyped. The service and lamb chops didn't meet my expectations.

Food is straight up fiyah. Also one of the best customer experiences ever. It can be a tad difficult to make reservations though (they're pretty popular). So if you're looking for some bomb Greek food, check 'em out.

One of the best meals I've ever had, served by a flawless server, in a gorgeous space, with a lively but not the least bit distracting noise level..#EatHereEveryNightIfICould.PS: It was my birthday.

I love their lamb chops and in general all the appetizers we tried were good but the calamari was really good. We also tried their chicken and it turned out to be the worst dish I had at this place.

Today was our first time coming back to dine at kokkari
Today was our first time coming back to dine at kokkari after along time since we moved back from New York .It has always been a treat to come to San Francisco and dine at kokkari our favorite restaurant .Unfortunately the experience was not the same without our favorite kind good hearted server MAJID !!!! Although the service was good , but not like With Majid .. we were very sad not to see him at kokkari talking to all the table next to us . Every time we were served by Majid we were beyond impressed with his multiple talents !!!We dined all over the world . We never had a server like him ever !!! Kokkari without him will never be the same for us .My wife and I will never forget the gesture he did in her birthday 7 years ago . It's was raining heavily , our car was parked 4 blocks away .. Majid had the whole back room by himself . He insisted to go to and put the money in the meter for her !!!! Came back with a smile like we were his family . We watch him making sure every single one of the guests in the back room was happy !! It was a unique experience . We literally thought his family owned the restaurant .

Never responded to me, obviously they don't care and hate Asian people and don't want any Asian customers. Described my incident in detail and could not even get a reply. Please see my previous review. You never know who people may know. Don't judge a book by its cover. I've told everyone about the blatant racism, classism, and overpriced fake Greek food here. I recommend Souvla (at least they don't hate Asian people there and assume Asian customer=Uber driver).

Came here with my girlfriend for my 30th birthday dinner.
This was my second time visiting and the overall experience was absolutely delightful. We ordered the Kolokithokeftethes (crispy zucchini cakes), Octapodaki tou Yiorgou (grilled octopus) and the Arnisia Paidakia (grilled rack of lamb). For dessert, we had the Kataifi ekmek - shredded filo with semolina custard, creme fraiche and pistachio and a Greek Coffee. Ambiance - 4/5 - the inside decor was classy, rustic and cozy. We sat near the fireplace and was able to have a pretty central view of the restaurant. The only reservation I had was how closely we were seated to others. The couple next to us was basically part of our table and at times was hard to hear my girlfriend speak. Kolokithokeftethes - 5/5 - the zucchini inside was soft and contained a perfect layer of crispness on the outside. It paired well with a cucumber-mint dressing. Overall very refreshing and light!Octapodaki tou Yiorgou - 5/5 - easily their best appetizer on the menu. The grilled octopus was flavorful, light and cooked the right amount of time. Melts in your mouth. Will definitely be going back for this. Arnisia Paidakia - 4/5 - as a lamb connoisseur I am always searching for the next best lamb dish I can find! The flavor of the lamb was simple but went a long way. We got ours medium well. The meat was tender and paired well with the lemon-oregano vinaigrette. I would say the potatoes were slightly on the dryer end. I also was surprised to hear that they don't serve New Zealand lamb as historically that is the best quality lamb on the market. Overall, flavors were bursting and would highly recommend this dish to anyone. Kataifi ekmek - 5/5!!!!! This was the best dessert I've ever had in my entire life. I wanted to try something different and this custard filled dessert DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was crispy on the bottom and soft on the inside. The pistachio complimented the creme fraiche and semolina custard. I am not a fan of sweet desserts and this was a perfect medium for me. Will 100% be going back just for this dessert alone. Greek Coffee - 5/5 - my girlfriend is a coffee snob and said this might have been the best coffee she's ever had. This says a lot as this girl has literally been around the world and tasted some high quality beans. It came as an espresso shot and really complimented the Kataifi ekmek on another level. She loved it so much that she actually researched and bought a briki to make her own Greek coffee at home! Our waiter was friendly and personable. He explained various dishes in detail and catered to our needs. Our reservation was at 9:45pm and even as his last guests, he made our night very special. My 30th birthday dinner was a complete success and I was very happy with my experience. This is a place me and my girlfriend will be coming back to over the years. I highly recommend visiting.

Amazing food, ambience, and service - one of the best I've had in the city. Ordered the halloumi, and calamari for apps, sea bass and lamb chops for mains, pistachio ice cream for dessert. I didn't enjoy the calamari much but everything else was excellent. Also our server made us feel so welcomed!

Beautiful restaurant and we loved our table that was tucked
Beautiful restaurant and we loved our table that was tucked a bit away from the dining room. We also had a great server, Mare, who was fun to banter with.Food-wise, a bit of a mixed bag. We got several starters and loved them all, with the spanakopita being the unanimous favorite. Then things took a turn downhill. Everyone thought that the whole grilled fish was the best main of what we ordered. I ordered the ravioli, which in hindsight was stupid, like whyyyyy would I order ravioli in a Greek restaurant? It was -- and I'm sorry to say it -- really not good. The flavors clashed and lacked harmony, plus it was oddly watery. I tried, but I could only eat a couple bites. My companions were also underwhelmed with their mains. I was a server for many years, I won't send things back just because I chose poorly. If the server is good and attentive, they will inquire about my barely-touched plate and offer to rectify the situation. Sadly for me, Mare did not inquire, and my mostly-full plate was taken away. It's a lovely restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The consensus was that if we were to come back, we would order only starters, and skip the mains.

We went there this weekend for our friends' special

We went there this weekend for our friends' special celebration. I really enjoyed our experience there as the vibe is fun, upbeat, & opened late. It is a very nice restaurant with an open kitchen. I believe it was a chef tasting menu we had by request as we were a large group. The food was great though some stood out more than others. We loved in particular the lamb riblets, ravioli (makaronia-good for vegetarians too), ribeye & casserole (mossaka). If I had to pick 2 items that I wasn't a big fan of, it would be the potato wedge (patates sto fourno- a bit dry) & the rice pudding with pear (Rizogalo). Service was impeccable with many servers readily available or in vicinity. It was a nice treat to dine here & wine list is extensive although I don't drink. I think this restaurant is more like a 4.5, but I would highly recommend it for Greek/Mediterranean when in SF though I heard reservations hard to secure at times.
Great ambiance, service and the food was fan you know what tastic. Only complaint was the lamb was undercooked severely which made it unpleasant. Everything else spot on. Would return again and again.
😍

This is our second visit to Kokkari and the food never
This is our second visit to Kokkari and the food never disappoints! Upon check in the host were very friendly and inviting, they sat us immediately after checking proper credentials for Covid, they choose a weird table with an odd angle for us and immediately heard my husband complain about the angle, the waiter assigned to that table immediately moved us without us even have to request a change. Unfortunately for us we were assigned a new waitress that left a lot to be desired. While we were sitting next to a table and listening to their amazing waiter describe every meal and wine our waitress did not provide the same attention, took forever to bring dessert and then another forever to bring the bill. We actually ordered our food based on what the waiters description was to the other table! We would love to return and sit in this waiters area as he was amazing even clearing the table for us since our waitress seemed to be missing all night! Wish I would have grabbed his name but I did over hear his initials were RD Jr I believe, Kudos to him for being awesome!
😍
Our special occasion place in SF.
Kokkari is a truly special experience. The service is great and attentive, and the food is incredible. Getting a lamb dish is a must. The saganaki is excellent and also an experience because it comes out flaming. They have an extensive wine list, with lots of old world and new world options. The donut type dessert is 11/10.
We loved everything we ordered and want to come back for sure. Get the lamb chops and baklavas!!
😒
I do love the branzino and octopus.
The halibut, hummus, prawns, fried cheese, and dry aged ribeye are okay. The ravioli is pretty good. The lamp chops are a little tough. The decor is quite nice. The waiters are very nice. The host station seems to maintain a vibe of stress and tension.
😍
Everything here is a 5 star.
Every dish is unique, tastes great, and is well presented. The environment is very classy and great for various occasions.

Amazing lamb ribs, and grilled fish is really well done! We had two appetizers and one entree, feeling very full.

Place was booked up for many days so ordered delivery.
Both the lamb chops and Chicken kabab were amazing. Highly recommend eat-in or take out from here. A bit more expensive but higher quality and worth it.
🙂
Delicious food and great service.
The flavors of each dish, especially the lamb chops, were outstanding! The service is friendly, professional, and efficient. The only issue was the high noise level in the restaurant, which was mostly because of a large, boisterous dinner party of over 20 people--they should have placed them in a more private space because their loud volume definitely affected other guests. At the tables nearby, guests could not even hear others at their own tables. This is definitely something that the restaurant management should improve upon for the future.
😍
Even better than in Greece
Had dinner there on a Sunday evening
Pretty quiet - very nice barman (French ) with good wine recommendations
Food was amazing - got certainly the best octopus of my life
Please go to that place , you won’t be disappointed
