Le Procope Paris Reviews from The Last Year
We experienced an incredible meal at Le Procope.
The ambience was everything we hoped for. We chose the restaurant as our fine dining meal while in Paris. My kids were in awe of the ambience and our food was great. The filet was incredible. Service was very typical of the area but I think they could add one additional server to help accommodate. I had to pour champagne for my wife and I and even the server caught it and apologized. We would definitely return in the future.
Came with friends for a birthday.
They prepared the incorrect dish for me, and then the kitchen was closed so they couldn't prepare what I originally ordered. They also forgot one of the appetizers that I ordered (so now two fumbles). The food was mediocre at best, and so was the service. With as much as we paid, I expected way better. They also charged for our friend's birthday dessert, which after a $500 meal we would have thought was complimentary. The only saving Grace was their French onion soup.
Wonderful food, historic restaurant, if it's good enough
Wonderful food, historic restaurant, if it's good enough for Napoleon and Ben Franklin it's good enough for me!
Best French soup, escargot and beef tartare we ever had!
Best French soup, escargot and beef tartare we ever had! Walking distance from Jardin du luxembourg.
The only good thing left of this once great establishment
The only good thing left of this once great establishment is the decor. Old world charm. Still beautiful. Food and service: they are resting on their laurels. It's full of foreigners, which proves it's a tourist trap. Locals don't come here. I ordered the coq au vin, which was recommended by a waiter (they kept changing so we never knew who our waiter was at any given moment). The chicken was completely dried out and the potatoes tasted like dirt. It was absolutely inedible. A waiter came and yelled at the people next to us for not telling the staff their food was dried out. He didn't even have the right table. My friend had the French onion soup, which was great, but her lobster ravioli wasn't good. We had the famous coffee tart for dessert. It was okay, but there are a million better places in Paris for pastries. The worst part was at the end. We were at a row of tables with a long bench on one side and chairs on the other. I was sitting on the bench side. The people next to us left so the waiter who mistakenly yelled at them was clearing the table. He took the table cloth and snapped it on the bench to clear the crumbs. He hit me in the face, which I know was an accident. It didn't hurt me, just scared me. But he refused to apologize or ask if I was ok. He was so arrogant (dare I say French!) that he kept saying I've been here for 14 years. I know what I'm doing. I didn't hurt you. You are fine. Over and over. He was mad at ME for HIS mistake. I just wanted to get out of there. I almost started crying because he was so mean. He kept going on and on, making me feel more and more uncomfortable.. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. If you must come here, have only coffee and dessert. There are so many other places. Terrible experience!
This restaurant is super cute.
The outside patio where you can eat is in a cute alleyway with other restaurants. We actually ended up eating here because the line for La Jacobine was too long and there was no wait here. We got the escargot to start and the duck and truffle risotto as entrees. The risotto was so creamy; I really enjoyed it. The service was a bit slow but probably because it was a busy night. It's also a bit pricey but the ambiance is well worth it!
Excellent food, excellent service.
This Brasserie is OLD and still does some historical dishes. We started with the French onion soup which was so good but was filling and I would probably forgo for future visits. We ordered two of the historical dish's: braised beef cheeks and the coq au vin. Both excellent and very rich. Both dishes came served in their cooking coquette and braising pan and were plated at the table. Very good portions and could accommodate two. For dessert we did the crème brûlée and the strawberry Melba ice cream Sunday. Both delightful. This is a must eat! Does accept Amex!
If your into bragging to your friends about a famous
If your into bragging to your friends about a famous restaurant you went to on Paris this is for you. Otherwise don't go. Good bland service just ok. Not an icon of French Food. But maybe your friends back home will be impressed.
Our dinner at this legendary, historic and charming
Our dinner at this legendary, historic and charming restaurant was one of the highlights of the trip to Paris. From the moment we walked in, we were humbled at the historic French memorabilia, meticulous attention and pride of the presentation, and wonderful energy of the staff and clientele alike. We made friends with a dignified father and son duo that sat next to us at a neighboring table, comparing notes on wine, business, and life. Our server, Sofiane, offered us wonderful recommendations to the menu, and made sure that we enjoyed every bite. The maître d was purely professional, and delightfully engaged with us on the history of the restaurant. This experience is truly special, and one that we will return to every time we return to Paris. Merci, Le Procope!
Good meal
Good meal we took the lunch formula simple starter and sea bass fillet. Reasonable price. well installed the setting is lovely… to do
Disappointing food not up to par with the place
For the first time in the years that I have attended Le Procope it was a bad experience. (We go every time we are in Paris) We went for lunch, the receptionist is really not at the level of the restaurant, rude and not very empathetic (I clarify that I speak French), she did not give us table options, and she put us in the tea area (we attended without a reservation, although we never made a reservation we always arrived spontaneously, there were also spaces in other rooms, we were two people) The waiters were in a hurry And the food was really bad (salmon well presented but tasteless and soggy rice that looked like puree). It's really unfortunate that we won't be returning. I think it's a space that's worth it because of its history and not because of its cuisine.
Overall disappointment
Food was not prepared as ordered...very overcooked. Service was incredibly slow. The wait staff was very friendly and apologetic. It is a beautiful restaurant but overall I was disappointed.
An institution
This time we came as a family. The welcome is always so pleasant! The service is good, and the menu has changed but it was still good!
Trash
Horrible service, rude, rude people don't make any effort to provide good service. Even though I'm pregnant and have a baby in arms
Lovely lunch experience.
I had lunch here, in one of the oldest ( if not the oldest) restaurants in Paris, where the revolution was said to have been planned. It was a lovely experience, service was exemplary, and the food was lovely, and very reasonably priced, considering the ambience and surroundings. Coq au vin was tasty and plentiful, and the profiteroles were delicious. I would recommend this for a lovely, relaxing lunch.
Divine
Beautiful place, full of history and charm. Perfect service, romantic atmosphere and excellent food. Prices in line with the level of the restaurant. A visit is a must if you are Paris. We ate escargot, foie gras (divine), beef tartare and duck breast. For dessert, profiteroles (very abundant, perfect for sharing) and we drank a bottle of Bordeaux. We spent around 60 euros each.
5 stars
Delicious and exceptional service. Snails were the best i had in all of france, coq au vin was well cooked and tender. Desserts all 10/10.
Definitely Recommend.
Amazing Service, Food, and Ambiance. If I lived in Paris I would become a regular. Prices were quite reasonable given the elegance of the service and food. I had the Coq au Vin specialty and it was amazing. I had wanted to visit this restaurant for years and pushed off thinking it was too touristy. While they did accommodate us non French speakers, the restaurant was filled with locals and not tourists. I really enjoyed this as did my wife. I will definitely return. Thank you to the staff and Hostess.
Cafe Procope is one of the iconic cafes in Par.
Very elegant, good quality and of course little bit pricey, but I would say well worth it. Staff were very nice. Politely answer questions in English. Definitely FIVE Stars.
French cuisine nearby Saint Germain area in Paris
Visit for dinner with my husband, recommend to reserve in advance. Staffs are all friendly, and take care of us well. they noticed when we have done and continue next dishes. I visit around 7pm, Friday, not too busy. But if you come after 7pm , I noticed there were many tables that had to wait for their foods quite long. So far is good taste and recommend to eat here if you stay nearby Saint Geemain area.
Perfect for Birthday Lunch
We booked Le Procope for my birthday lunch, the whole experience was very good and service was high standard, in our group we had Escargot, WHOLE ROASTED GILTHEAD BREAM Chablis sauce, duchess potatoes, button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and BEEF FILLET OF THE REVOLUTIONARIES Bordeaux sauce, French duck foie gras, shredded beef, gratin dauphinois, all the dishes tasted great and were served with french flare. This restuarant could not be more French, if it tried, ticked all our boxes, would happily return on our next trip to Paris.
Although Le Procope has the best escargot I have ever had
Although Le Procope has the best escargot I have ever had in Paris, I took one star off for the service and attitude I received. I was seated downstairs and the tables were so close to each other that whenever anyone got up they likely knocked over something from their table or the table next to them. I did not get a friendly smile from anyone who worked here. I ordered a glass of wine, the escargot and the soup a l'oignon. Both of the dishes were amazing - some of the best I have ever had in Paris! It wasn't until I got the bill that I noticed that they charged me for the wrong wine. When I ordered I specifically pointed to the Côtes-du-Rhône, under the white wine section. When the wine arrived I didn't think much about it, but it was a red wine - I thought maybe I pointed to the wrong one? When I brought this up to the waiter he said the wine he gave me was still from the Côtes-du-Rhône region, and asked me of did you want a white wine? .....yes that's what I originally ordered. The sneakily charged me double for a more expensive wine and wouldn't do anything about the mistake they made. Overall, I would come back for the food but never for the service - the people working here really need to work on their customer service.
Wonderful food, excellent location - perfect service
I celebrated my 40th birthday here 10 years ago, and this year, we were back to celebrate my 50th. Of course, we've been a couple of times in the intervening decade, too! Le Procope never disappoints. Great food and drink (champagne, soup, beef cheeks, ice cream this time) and of course, the historic interior is a treat for the camera. But as other people here have observed, what makes it special is the impeccable service - the attentive staff really look after you.

Very historic restaurant, oldest cafe in Paris, beautiful building and reasonable food.
This is one of my favorite French restaurants in all of
This is one of my favorite French restaurants in all of Paris. For being a fine dining café, their prices are reasonable (between 10-20 for appetizers and 20-50 for mains). The service was excellent, and everything we are and drank was delicious. The standout dish for me was their duck confit, and the red wine our table shared was perfect. Dinner here with a big group lasts at least two hours, so be prepared, but you'll enjoy every second. Book in advance.
We are tourists and we did not do our research before we
We are tourists and we did not do our research before we walked in. Apparently, it is a popular restaurant with long history. Maybe because we are not used to the French style. They are really slow. First we waited 30 mins to get the special menu ( philosophy menu). Then, it took another 30 -40 mins to get the starter. Another 20 mins to get the main course. Another 30 - 40 mins to get the dessert. It seems every one waits long time, so I was waiting patiently at the beginning until I noticed the table came after us, get their main course before us and get their dessert much earlier than we did, even we finished our main course earlier. And they did not even clean our table before they serve the dessert to the other table. So we asked if can we have the dessert. The waiter gave us the menu. And we had to tell him we ordered the crème brûlée already. And he "surprisingly" asked "you want one or two". So it sounds like he forgot our order. So we asked if he forgot. He said no, the crème brûlée is ready. Then ~ 10 mins, we got the dessert. At the end, because we ordered from the philosophy menu which includes the main course and dessert, it should be a little cheaper order separately. But they charged us separately as they appears on the regular menu. Not much difference though. So we said just keep it, even they offer to gave us cash. To be honest, their good are good. We like the duck confit and the fish. But I don't think it is worth the wait. And I think it may be because our waiter has to wait more than 10 tables at the same time. And he himself knows about the long wait poor review as well. But they do not seem to care much.
The oldest cafe in Paris! Since 1686! So it's super old.
A family member recommended we come here and it was amazing. We loved it so much we came back another time for dinner. It has so much history! And many famous people have dined here from Napoleon to Benjamin Franklin. Napoleon's hat is framed on the wall upstairs. The last being our last night in Paris and was an excellent way to end our vacation. Make a reservation online on their website. Folks with no rezy were turned away and told that maaaybe they'd get a spot in an hour. You can imagine some people were upset and made it known. It looks so fancy in here and the prices were reasonable. The ambiance felt very classy and expensive. But again, reasonable prices which was shocking. Both times I got the risotto with scallops. Oh my gosh, absolutely delicious. The escargot was delicious as well and became my go-to appetizer anywhere we went. Drinks were delicious. It may be France but they make a darn good mojito. This was one of the highlights of our trip.
Le Procope markets itself as the oldest cafe in Paris,
Le Procope markets itself as the oldest cafe in Paris, opening in 1686 (though not continous). It's the sort of thing a tourist has to go to, especially since it had on the menu two I've always wanted to try in Paris (to see if it is that much better): L'escargot (the snail) and Coq au Vin (Rooster in Wine). Both were good, though I couldn't say that it was that much better than elsewhere. It opens at noon every day of the week, and we got there about 45 minutes. It was already pretty busy inside, but we were seated right away without a reservation. I wouldn't consider it a fine dining place: the prices were very reasonable and it obviously wants to attract a wide clientele. For lunch, there is a fixed price menu where you can choose a combination of entree, dessert, and appetizer (2 of three would be 24,5€, all three would be 31,5€). My wife chose the 2 option, picking beef chuck with mashed potatoes and Floatting (not a misspelling) Island for dessert. Coq au Vin was 28,5€ and the count of 6 snails was 11,9€. A complementary side of black and green olives were given to us, with toothpicks. Complementary sliced bread was next, and it was OK..definitely easy to fill up on, if not careful. Next were the snails...and you can definitely hear it coming...as the butter sauce on the snails are boiling as it comes to the table. It's a great, great touch. I got to reaquaint myself in using the reverse tongs that is a requisite to hold those scalding shells, while you dig for the meat. The foot has already been removed for you, so once you remove the meat, it can be popped into your mouth. They were small, but tasted great....not chewy at all. The main courses came, and were served on the procope china. A carafe of tap water was provided when asked, so we could refill our glasses as needed. The chuck tasted a lot like a really good pot roast, braised long enough so the meat was tender and breakable using a fork. My coq au vin was served in a traditional metal casserole dish, where I could spoon out what I wanted onto my dish. The red wine sauce was good. It came with pearl onions, mushrooms, and baby potatoes. It was definitely a rooster since the two pieces of meat were the really large wing and part of the breast (bone-in). Dessert of floating island came quite a bit after we had finished our entree, and was something we never had before, but later I realized it's a classic French dessert, favored by Julia Child. It's basically a meringue, floating on custard, drizzled with candy bits and caramel. Definitely worth a bite or two (or more). Payment was made at the table, and it required a hand signature. The whole meal took about 90 minutes. Since we still had time, we were able to head upstairs to check out the famous Napoleon Hat, and see that there were other dining areas of the hotel. Glad we came.
High end service in a popular place.
All the food was excellent. Only knock was the 50 cl carafe of red was bottom of bottle and not filtered so carafe had sediment on bottom so one of our party did not finish final glass as did not want to drink the sediment. The coq au vin was so good planned to see if they had a cookbook so could attempt to cook. Weakest dish was apple tart though looked beautiful which was a bit dry. Make sure to make reservation.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.

Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
