The carbonara is a must try!!! This is only the second time
The carbonara is a must try!!! This is only the second time I've had carbonara but Rubirosa's is sooooo good! I want more! One person ordered an individual order so there wasn't much to go around. These rest of us shared a family style of Lumache alla vodka. A family style portion is supposed to feed 2-4. It just about feed the 3 of us (2 adults and 1 child). It was good. The place looked super crowded when you walk in. There's a bar area and only a few tables but they have a back room that appeared less crowded. This was at lunch time though. Not sure you can just easily walk in and get a table at dinner. It took our server, Johnathan, a minute to get to us but then he did a great job taking care of us. Pleasant demeanor and attentive enough.
😍
This is probably my number one pizza spot in NYC.
I came here for lunch and had the Rubirosa Supreme, the TIE DYE, and the Vodka pizza with coworkers. It lived up to all my expectations. A must try for every pizza enthusiast. It is a thin pie so for people that like thicker, this may not be for them. I would recommend again and again!
😍
This place was amazing! From the service to the good
This place was amazing! From the service to the good everything was perfect. We got a few dishes and shared family style. Everything was so flavorful and well presented. I will definitely come back here. Ambiance was also stellar. Highly suggest making a reservation. Came afternoon 2:15 on a Friday (table reserved) and it was packed.
We had an early evening reservation and we were super excited to try the place based on recommendations from friends. You always know the service is going to be bad when within 10 minutes of sitting down no one acknowledges your table. The first server comes up asking if we're ready to order over 10 minutes after we sat down. I mentioned we'd like drinks first. He said he'd be back with them and take our order. I don't think we saw him again until the end and then had a different server. She took our order. We put in for a yummy looking ragu and half and half pizza. A quick few minutes later, the ragu comes out. We nibbled on the ragu, thinking our pizza would be right behind. Probably another 10-15 minutes later the pizza came out. The ragu was good. Flavorful sauce for sure. I wish I would've ordered it with different pasta though. The pizza was also good, but the red sauce made it very soggy on the bottom. I was expecting "knock your socks off" food for the reviews on this place. For 2 drinks, a bowl of pasta and a 14 inch pizza our bill was $90. Between the spotty service and mediocre food, it's likely we won't return.
😍
Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant and worth the wait!
Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant and worth the wait! Favorite pizza in the city! Cozy ambiance- great for date night. The pizza itself is excellent- thin crust and delicious. I highly recommend ordering the Vodka, Tie Dye and Honey Pie pizzas!

🙂
I came here with my five friends and we ate family style.
We loved it, from our Austin Butler doppelgänger server to the delicious pasta and mozzarella sticks. The tie-dye pizza was a bit underwhelming. It is hard to get a reservation here but if you do it is worth it!!
😍
Fabulous food and atmosphere!
This place was recommended to us by someone at the hotel where we were staying. We walked there on the first night but couldn’t get in without a reservation and it was a 3 hour wait! We knew it must be good and 2 days later we tried again while walking near at lunchtime. We managed to get a table and the waiter was extremely friendly and helpful even though he was busy. I went with his recommendation of the carbonara followed by the homemade cannoli and they were both delicious. It had a lovely, busy atmosphere and if we get back to NYC we’ll be booking a table and definitely going again.

Listen the food is good and I've eaten here a few times but
Listen the food is good and I've eaten here a few times but I was so turned off on my most recent visit to Rubirosa. Staff was extremely rude to us for assuming we could just sit at the bar even though there were plenty of open seats and tables. After a snarky remark from a waitress that we "can't just walk in and think we can sit wherever we want" (remind you at the bar where we asked the bartender if the seats were open and he said yes) we apologized saying usually a bar you can just grab seats and we didn't realize and she again snapped saying "yeah well not here so go to the front to check in." If this place was busy and every table and seat was taken with people waiting, then MAYBE I could understand this remark but half the tables were open and the bar was open. It was 4:30-5:00 not 6-7 pm The tie dye pizza is great but you can put pesto on any vodka slice and it'll be the same. I will not be going back and giving a penny of my money to an establishment that is so rude to customers who were apologetic about a simple common mistake and still crucified by MULTIPLE staff members when the restaurant was NOT busy. Also my $18 Cosmo was served in a "mini Cosmo glass"
😍
Full of mama’s flavours! Don’t miss this place.
Listen carefully, this place is difficult to reserve for but don’t be discourage try and try again and again as it’s worth it as your taste buds will be very happy! So we could not get in with a reservation and showed up mush later around 9:30 and we were able to get a table at the bar. I was with my daughter and both of us love Italian food. The pizza is really tasty try the tie dye super and the Rubirosa suprime a delight to the senses. We weee there on a Sunday and there was the Sunday only special sauce just like my Nona made when I was a child. We added the Cesar and can’t say anything wrong with it o could suggest that they add some cooked prosciutto with a cost it would be the cherry on the Sunday! Don’t change anything with the dressing it’s perfect. For desert we had the begnet that came with Nutella and a strawberry sauce my daughter was raving about it. The cannolis were so fresh and you can tell hand made. Do not miss this place or you want a taste of the real Nona cooking.
😍
This is the best pizza restaurant I've been to so far.
I arrived a little past noon and it was a full house, but I was seated immediately.Service was a bit slow because of the volume of people and not because the staff was slacking so no hate there.I ordered the 10" half pepperoni and half original. The pizza was thin-crust and nice. Normally, I don't like too much acidity in my tomato sauce, but this was different. The acidity made all the other flavors pop.I paid $28 + tax and tip. It was a bit pricy, but definitely worth a visit. I'm coming back.

Yummy pizza and cute dive bar feel, we had a large group and made it work but would recommend for the most 4 people
I lived a block away from this place 12 years ago and would get it twice a week. To this day, it remains my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC. I've sent dozens of people here and everyone agrees. All the pastas are great especially the cacio e pepe and the rigatoni with ragu and don't even think about going here without getting either the vodka sauce pizza or the tie dye pizza (vodka sauce w a swirl of pesto) - pro move: we always add pepperoni). FYI - they also have a GF menu! Put your name in early and grab a drink nearby while you wait (you'll have better luck during the week) or set an alarm a week before and try to make a res.

What's unfortunate is I do enjoy Rubirosa but the time
What's unfortunate is I do enjoy Rubirosa but the time limit on eating is incredibly inconsiderate. As a party of three -- or however you have in your party, you should be able to enjoy your meal without the feeling of being rushed. Let us enjoy our food, wine and company.

Mulberry Street Classic
I've been here many times over the years, both for solo dinners at the bar and meals with friends. It's always packed, there's usually a wait (unless you get there early and can squeeze in at the bar), but it's worth it for the lively atmosphere and great food. Never been disappointed by the pizza, pasta, salads or wines, and the service is efficient but friendly.
But I did enjoy the Tie-dye pizza. Attentive staff but we were seated at a high top table when our reservation was for the dining room area.
Friendly staff, great appetizers, pizza excellent, and the rose with dinner was excellent
😍
Simply one of the best places to have pizza in NYC.
Eat in or at the bar! They have great bar tenders. Worth the wait.
We decided to go to this restaurant for lunch. The place is small but attractive. The staff were warm and friendly. We ordered a tie-dye pizza. It was a lovely pie that tasted even better. The sauce is tasty and the crust is crispy. A 14-inch pizza was enough for two. This restaurant will frequent.

Bad service undermines everything
Rubirosa in SoHo serves without doubt the best spaghetti and meatballs anywhere. It’s a nondescript gem that’s a favourite hangout for locals (recommended by a local a few years back). No reservations accepted. Leave name and cell number at desk and be told - gulp - up to two hours for a table for two. But it’s ok because the spaghetti is so damned good. Last night we had a repeat experience though the two-hour wait was reduced dramatically to 30 minutes which meant downing the scotch we were having at the nearby Spring Lounge - think Cheers! where everybody wanted to know our names, including a very flirtatious straight couple taking a rather keen interest in me. But I digress. We headed back to Rubirosa eagerly anticipating a late supper (thanks, Air Canada … see a different review). We were seated in the worst possible table next to the pizza oven in the farthest reach of this long, cavernous space. But we didn’t mind because we were about to have the best spaghetti ever! We ordered a large bowl of the perfectly cooked - al dente - pasta with perfect marinara and divine meatballs. The waiter seemed interested. A young rakish-looking man who appeared attentive enough. We ordered a couple glasses of cab sauv and waited perhaps 10 or so minutes before dinner was served, brought out by a runner. OMG. It was divine. We dove in and began devouring. Part way we paused and wondered about the wine. Couldn’t get her loser waiter’s attention. I must admit that the pasta was too good to be bothered. But I was bothered. We had been ignored for the evening. Not even a cursory, is everything alright? Nothing. We decided it was time to go, no wine. No dessert. Another waiter approached and said that he was taking over. The other loser was still prancing around at the bar. Nary a glance. We requested the bill. Not only is the pasta listed ,but the two phantom glasses of cab sauv AND bread pudding (I hate bread pudding). The table next to us had that. The new server made the correction and we paid the exact amount only. I don’t think that I have ever not tipped. In fact, I know I haven’t. Servers work hard, well all but the loser at Rubirosa, so I reward them appreciating fully that not all waiters are equal. It’s part of the dining out experience. But make a modest effort to show that your customers matter - at least their gratuity.
Wow. Just wow!!! A friend recommended Rubirosa while my husband and I were in NYC celebrating our 20th anniversary. We tried to get reservations, but didn't have any luck so I called the restaurant. The hostess told me we could walk in and put our name on the waitlist. We got to the restaurant and put our name on the list. While we waited, we shopped at the nearby stores. An hour later, we got a text that our table was ready so we ran back over. Our waiter (unfortunately I can't remember his name) was so upbeat and great at making suggestions. We got the house wine (Rubirosso Montepulciano Abruzzo), Mini Rice Balls, and split a pizza which was half Tie-Dye, half Fresca. ALL of it was divine. They even brought us some chocolate covered grapes, strawberries, and blueberries after our meal. It was our absolute favorite meal, experience, and waiter of the entire trip (and we ate A LOT).
We had antipasti for starters then we had a 18" pizza with rubirosa special on 1 half then bianca on the other. The pizza was very delicious. Although the pizza's are extra thin it was more than enough to share. I would highly recommend rubirosa if you love your pizzas thin and crispy! Booking is essential if you want guaranteed entry.

Always such a pleasant experience at Rubis, the kindest staff, best food and amazing management. The leads always make sure to make it a full experience for my friends and I, or just myself. 10/10 would recommend.

Great staff and super tasty food.
The Rubirosa Supreme pizza was delicious and huge! Just as delicious for leftovers. Popular place, but waitlist system was efficient (I like when they text you when your table is ready so you can look through nearby shops). Highly recommend.

We walked through the door of Rubirosa and were treated
We walked through the door of Rubirosa and were treated very nicely. With the exception of our server, who was also very nice, it went down from there. Granted we were there on a hot day, but it was very hot inside--I was constantly wiping my brow. We started by ordering two glasses of red wine, which were too warm to enjoy. We've eaten in a number of NYC restaurants during this most recent heat wave and haven't experienced this heat in a restaurant or very warm wine. We started with baked clams. We researched "best baked clams" in the NYC and Rubirosa popped up. I often go to the fish market and make baked clams--an old time NYC dish--so I was anxious to try them. Big disappointment: for twenty dollars you get six tiny clams and it was debatable whether there was clam meat in each shell. At best, they were the tiniest morsel of clam I've ever eaten. We ordered a pizza that was half tie-dye--a cheese pizza drizzled with pesto--and half arugula with slices of Parmesean, tomato and balsamic vinegar. The taste of the tie dye was good, not great. I thought the balsamic overwhelmed the arugula portion, which had an enormous amount of Parmesean. As far as arugula pizzas go, I've had better. I must also add, Rubirosa's pizza is considered a style that is popular in Staten Island and features a crackery crust, which some folks love. I prefer a pizza that is a little chewy and can be folded. When folded this style tends to crack. So, for a pizza experience, it wasn't what I expected and for $33--there are many good, lower-priced pizzas options in NYC--I expected an incredible pizza. For the money spent, I was disappointed. One final thought, this is a young hip spot and the young folks really seem to be enjoying themselves. I'm a senior, and if, like me, you don't enjoy the pounding beat of music throughout your meal, you might try another spot.

My family and I just returned from a week long trip in New
My family and I just returned from a week long trip in New York and all we have thought and talked about was Rubirosa's delectable pizza! Initially, we had a reservation for our last day in the city, but we were too excited that we ended up eating there on our first night as well (meaning we ate here twice during our stay). I cannot stress this enough, if you visit New York City, you MUST visit Rubirosa. Their pizza outsells any other pizza i've ever had and has changed my life. Their pizza sauce is ZESTY and is honestly the star of the show. We ordered the Tie Dye pizza and Caccio E Pepe our first visit. The pizza, like i've said before, was life changing. Almost brought us to tears tbh. The Caccio E Pepe was very flavorful and creamy. Our second visit, we ordered a half Tie Dye / half Supreme pie with a side of honey (recommended by our server Dominick [PLEASE GIVE THEM A RAISE! THEY WERE SO AMAZING!]) and the Carbonara. The pizza was amazing per usual and the Carbonara was great as well. Now that my family and I are back home, we can't help but reminisce on the pizza we enjoyed. We can't wait to visit again!
😍

I've been dying to try the tie die pizza and it definitely lives up to the hype! Definitely try to snag a reservation if possible, otherwise it is worth the wait for a walk in. The portion was perfect, the food came out quickly, and it was the perfect nyc slice of pizza

Just by the smell alone we knew this place was going to be good!!! And it was omggg I wish I lived in NY to has access to good Italian pizza like this! My bf also had the spaghetti and it was the best spaghetti I've ever had but I definitely preferred my pizza! We got half Vodka and half Supreme- both flavors SO good! My bf's parents shared a carbonara and that looked amazing as well.Definitely 10/10, loved everything about our experience, from the food to the ambiance, to the employees and our servers!
😍
I'm sorry, but if you don't like this place.
..I don't know how to help you. It's one of the best spots for a sit down pizza experience in NYC and I highly recommend checking it out. The tie dye pizza was amazing, ambiance is killer and they even gave us a free order of mozzarella sticks for having to wait a bit longer. They accommodate larger groups well too. A classic NYC pizza spot that shouldn't be missed.

Can't blame them but had a terrible seat bc it was by the bathroom and there was always a line for it and it was also packed inside the restaurant. Every table was filled and nobody came to get our order until the kind manager did! This was our first time and we finally got to eat here and got the shrimp scampi, to die for (jk it's the infamous tie dye) pizza and the tirimasu! Omg everything was chef's kiss! I wanted to lick the plate after finishing the shrimp scampi. Reservations come out a week in advance at midnight and go quickly so definitely be ready mins before the clock hits. Definitely would come back.- Rubirosa special: shrimp scampi (not pictured but has 6 pieces of shrimp) for $20- Tie dye pizza: vodka and pesto pizza, large for $33 that has 8 big slices. The thin ones- tirimasu: DEFINITELY GET THIS!!! So good and not too sweet. It was perfect $17
😍
Great place for some solid pizza.
My friend and I walked in around ~1pm for lunch on a Wednesday and were able to get immediately seated at the bar.You can split any of the pizzas into two flavors so we got a 14" pie for the two of us. We ordered the tie-dye pizza (mix of vodka, tomato and pesto sauce) and the rubirosa supreme (tomato / mozzarella / pepperoni / mini meatball / roasted garlic). Their pizza is super thin so you can enjoy a bunch and are incredibly generous by piling them high with toppings. They also offer you the works to sprinkle on top (red pepper flakes, parm, etc). My favorite's the tie-dye pizza, as all of the meat on the supreme can get a bit salty. In the past, I've tried their pasta as well which is also yummy! Definitely recommend swinging by (definitely suggest making a reservation if you're there on a weekend) and enjoying the pizza. It's a must-try in NY!
This restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint. Seating is limited and we were crammed against a wall with no air conditioning upon us. It was soooo hot, but no one wanted to leave in my party. So glad we stayed. Pizza was very good even thought the thin crust was a bit burnt. We had pasta with mushrooms which was absolutely out of this world. I’m Italian and it was the best pasta I have ever had. Waiter was at rebrand really friendly. When I’m in I’m the area I will definitely return.
😒
Maybe second time will be the charm.....
PRO: Lively atmosphere, friendly servers, good service, they offer a nice menu of gluten-free pizza for those seeking it. CON: Ordered the octopus, which came out burnt. Sent it back and received another, almost equally over-charred. There's only one bathroom and the waiting line can run along a couple of the dining tables, so watch where you are seated if this matters to you. Had to call repeatedly the week before to book a table (we had a party of 5 and Resy wasn't accepting our request) because the phone often went unanswered and there was no way to leave a message. The staff is really great, the food just okay for all the hype (there is much better pizza to be had elsewhere in NY). But based on all the rave reviews, maybe we will give it a second chance, and sit at one of the bar area high-tops to avoid the bathroom line.
😍
Great Pizza and Great Service
We heard about this restaurant on a food tour and decided to stop in for lunch. The place is small but inviting. The staff was warm and friendly. We ordered the tie dye pizza. It was a beautiful pie that tasted even better. The sauce was flavorful and the crust was crispy. The 14 inch pizza was plenty for two. This restaurant will be a frequent eating spot for future NYC trips.
🙂
Casual atmosphere - Good Food
Party of 4 ordered salad, pasta dishes and huge pizza. The service was great and the food was tasty. Known for their thin crust pizza, which is not very filling, so try a couple of pasta dishes which come in small or large portions. We stayed at our table for 2 hours and never felt rushed. Food, beer and wine was all very reasonable. This seems to be a locals spot as it was referred by a family member in NYC. No reservations, so you may want to come early, pop in a bar on the street and wait to be seated.
😍
Great food great people
Loved the food was super tasty. Staff were really friendly and we ended up going back as we enjoyed our meal so much. Pizzas were great and would also recommend the rice balls.

I came to Rubirosa with my family for dinner on a Tuesday
I came to Rubirosa with my family for dinner on a Tuesday night. We had a reservation in advance which I recommend since this place seems to always be full. Our waitress came by very quickly with menus and to offer us some tap water. She was very personable and fun to talk to! We got some delicious focaccia for the table as we waited with olive oil that tasted amazing. It was so good we asked for another batch. For food we ordered: Rubirosa salad: amazing salad! Super good flavors with balsamic, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, and arugula that are balanced out by generous balls of creamy mozzarella. Was a huge fan of this salad as a starter! Comes with croutons that add a nice crunch to it too.Small vodka pie: this is my favorite pie that I've tried by them. The slices are super thin and perfectly cooked where the center is very soft but the edges are crispy like crackers. The vodka sauce is very rich and perfectly acidic/sweet. Would recommend to anyone who is a fan of vodka sauce.Small Fresca pie: a classic Margherita pie with fresh, rich, flavorful tomato sauce, creamy bits of mozzarella, and basil. My parents really enjoyed this one and said it reminded them a lot of pizza in Italy. Flourless chocolate cake: amazing dessert. Very rich chocolate flavor and creamy texture. Crazy that it doesn't have flour! It's molten on the inside with a cake like exterior that just melts in your mouth. Comes with a nice scoop of vanilla gelato that makes a perfect cold/warm combination. Not too sweet-- just the perfect amount.Had a great experience here during my second visit ever. This place is definitely on the pricier end but would say it's worth the hype for the nice ambiance, high quality food, and exceptional service. Will come back again one day.
😍
First time back since before COVID.
This place never fails. Top 3 pizza in all of NYC, hands down. Get the tie-dye pizza with the pesto drizzle - you won't regret it! Thank you for another great experience.
😍
Pasta, pizzas and salad were all excellent.
Small place with good service and great food. I would highly recommend. A classic NYC small, local, ethnic neighborhood restaurant.

I found this place on a you tube video listing favorite
I found this place on a you tube video listing favorite pizza in New York . We tried to walk in and eat but there wasn't any available seats so we ordered a pizza to go . I also asked if we could grab a drink at the bar but from what I understand the bar is in their seating rotation so they told us where they had a bar down the streetWhich was a pretty cool place friendly staff . I didn't stay in this place long but it seems small and charming . The pizza was pretty good we got the tie dye one . I love pesto on a pizza but it wasn't very strong . Deff would like to go and try more of their items

Did the rice balls and a small tie-dye pizza which was a good lunch for my girlfriend and I. We also got a cocktail and a beer. Everything was delicious. Definitely a great pizza joint but the crust was a bit crunchy for my liking. We were lucky enough to get reservations through Resy so we got seated right away. This place oddly only has one bathroom so there is always a wait. Service was good.
A kind barber recommended this restaurant when we were on the hunt for authentic New York pizza...and it didn't disappoint. The pizza was delicious...you could taste the freshness in each ingredient. We also had the antipasto platter, crispy calamari, and rice balls. The Caesar salad was to die for! I only didn't give them a 5 because the space is really tight and felt claustrophobic at times. Great service and great food.
Pizza was very good. We had half tie dye half Rubirosa supreme. Meatballs were aight but I'm Italian so I'm used to much better. The Rubirosa salad was very good as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive, kind, and made a great drink. Overall a great experience!!

My boyfriend and I had a reservation at peak dinner time
My boyfriend and I had a reservation at peak dinner time for a Saturday night and this place was packed. Super low key and casual spot with amazing pizzas and pastas. The service here is quick and efficient, although the pizzas typically take a little longer than the pastas to come out. We got the vodka rigatoni and gnocchi to start, followed by a large tie dye pizza and the olive oil cake to finish. The pastas were delicious and fresh, I really liked the texture of the gnocchi and would definitely get it again. The vodka rigatoni wasn't as creamy as I would have liked but it was good nonetheless. The pizza was the star of the night - the vodka/tomato sauce, pesto, and fresh mozzarella paired incredibly with the crispy crust with every bite. I would highly recommend getting the tie dye pizza, it's one of the more unique types of pies you'll find in a city full of pizza. I've had a handful of olive oil cakes and this one was a little more of a bread/loaf than cake, I would try a different desert next time. Overall fantastic spot and I cannot wait to return!
